New contract for Fabinho, everyone is so obsessed with signing new players that they forget how good some of our current crop our.

Big fan of Fabinho, hoovers up everything and occasionally scores an absolute rocket.

Quite happy to think he'll hold down that DM spot for the next 5 years!

{Ed0666's Note - well said rolls Royce soccer player mate. Love his Mrs also proper ‘ride or die’

1.) 03 Aug 2021 17:19:55
Excellent news lad's.

2.) 03 Aug 2021 17:21:15
Yep, made up, great bit of work by the club.
Keep your best players tied down, and happy.
Add a couple of new faces IF you can.
Looking forward to new season.

Y N W A.

3.) 03 Aug 2021 17:22:37
Exactly, the side already has some of the best players in the world in their positions. Everyone knows we need a signing or two but keeping the best players at the club is just as important.

4.) 03 Aug 2021 17:28:57
Great bit of business there. First Trent now Fab. I’m expecting Robbo to be next and then hopefully Salah, Vvd, and Alison unless I’ve missed them signing already.

5.) 03 Aug 2021 18:27:06
Owners are tight gits aren't they?

6.) 03 Aug 2021 20:59:04
Spot on, JH. New signings are just as important as being able to actually keep your best players cos if you can’t, who are the new signings going to play with? Brilliant news.

OMM, the owners are only tight fisted when they don’t do what certain fans want. It’s that simple.

7.) 03 Aug 2021 21:41:14
It was sarcasm OliRed 👍.

03 Aug 2021 12:07:16
Something abit more lighthearted. most people think we need an attacker and a midfielder, if you could bring back an old LFC player who would also fit in our system. Who would you pick?

Attacker- Perhaps Torres, can't think of many others who could improve the team and he was always a favourite of mine. Kuyt was a workhorse but probably not a goalscorer. Suarez is disqualified!

Midfield - Gerrard, think he'd do the B2B role better than Alonso. I'd also love a prime Countinho!

1.) 03 Aug 2021 12:41:43
Rush and Souness. Any other answers are wrong.

{Ed001's Note - Billy Liddell and Kenny Dalglish would argue the point, they are the two best players we have ever had. Then there is Keegan too. Any of them could easily slot into an attacking berth.}

2.) 03 Aug 2021 12:44:15
Attacker, John Barnes or peak Kenny Dalglish.

Midfielder, Graeme Souness. The greatest midfielder ever to play for us. He could attack, defend and if you wanted a fight he’d give you that too. He was a far better player than Gerrard.

3.) 03 Aug 2021 13:20:27
King Kenny, John Barnes (circa 87-90 version) and/ or God for me.

4.) 03 Aug 2021 13:27:10
Oh Mane Mane - Can’t believe you were so quick to completely rule out Poulsen and Jovanovic!

5.) 03 Aug 2021 13:30:40
Peak fowler and Peak molby.

6.) 03 Aug 2021 13:33:17
Kevin Keegan is one of the most underrated and underappreciated players we have ever had. not many players are out there who left Liverpool and went on to win the European Footballer of the Year. Keegan was truly special.

7.) 03 Aug 2021 13:55:02
Absolutely correct Sinwave.

8.) 03 Aug 2021 14:05:36
Keegan is definitely a good shout. John Barnes, a player ahead of the times.

9.) 03 Aug 2021 15:18:51
Peak Barnes is as good as I've ever seen. It may not have last long at Liverpool, but if he was in the team now with the diet, fitness, and lack of contact in the game, he'd destroy teams.

10.) 03 Aug 2021 15:21:13
I would have Hansen Nicol Souness Gerrard Dalglish Fowler And Barnes. That should be the squad sorted.

11.) 03 Aug 2021 16:15:38
In PL, it's hard to go past Suarez for this team.

12.) 03 Aug 2021 16:28:39
Not disputing them names for a second Ed. I would've picked Kenny myself but in today's game he'd be an attacking midfielder/ No.10 type and for me that's why Rushie just pips him as an out and out 9 and the original press machine. Souness, as VVVV says, is simply the best midfielder we've had for me.

13.) 03 Aug 2021 16:33:56
Ray Kennedy and Kenny in the positions we require.
Hansen and Fowler as replacements.

14.) 03 Aug 2021 16:42:28
Barnes to replace Mane and Rush to replace Firmino. Job done.

15.) 03 Aug 2021 17:12:53
From my lifetime it'd be Barnes and Kenny of I could only pick 2.

{Ed0666's Note - souness and dalglish for me

16.) 03 Aug 2021 17:41:50
For our current setup under klopp id sign kuyt in attack cuz he is made for klopp and midfielder would be macca.

17.) 03 Aug 2021 22:07:10
Ed0666 would souness last long enough on the pitch these days 😂.

{Ed0666's Note - true dat cuz but what a player. The complete central midfielder made Roy Keane look like Prue Leith

05 Jul 2021 21:48:25
Moving away from big signings, who's going to be our stand out youth player next year who gets some decent time in the 1st team?

Elliott would be the obvious one, Musialowski could be interesting.

You've also got Balagizi, Clarkson, Koumetio, Pitaluga and plenty more.

Who's going to stand out in 21/ 22?

1.) 05 Jul 2021 22:10:45
I think Elliott is quite obvious. Jones also. They'll be regulars in the match day squad at least and probably used for rotation in the starting XI in my opinion.

I genuinely think Koumetio and Rhys Williams might get some game time in the early cup games. They'll probably be the first choice pairing for the u23's.

If Neco Williams leaves then we might see more of the young Irish right back Connor Bradley. Same for Owen Beck if Tsimikas were to move on.

Otherwise i'd say maybe Gordon who we signed from Derby or possibly Clarkson and Cain in midfield would be the only surprise inclusions.

I think the likes of Frauendorf, Musialowski and Balagizi are all another year away. Especially physically in Musialowski's case. He looks small even at u18 level.

Very hard to predict though. Musialowski might have a growth spurt between now a Christmas, and be kicking down Klopp's door by January 2022.

2.) 05 Jul 2021 22:12:31
Elliot 100%. I would be made up if any of the other youngsters you mentioned were able to break through. Jones is 19 now and I feel this is a big season for him. He is a premier league player but is he good enough to start 25+ games for LFC. I am undecided but certainly hopeful.

3.) 05 Jul 2021 22:24:01
I like to see Jones as a 1st teamer now, I know he's not perfect but he's shown some real flashes when he's played and actually very rarely makes a mistake or let's the team down. I'm hoping he plays a lot more next season anyway!

4.) 06 Jul 2021 05:11:52
Away from the obvious. Owen Beck.

5.) 06 Jul 2021 08:53:20
Jones is already a first teamer so not sure why we are talking as if he isn't. The likes of Koumetio need to improve in order to get any games, IMO cos Williams is already ahead him and would get games ahead of him.

The Pole Musialowski is still young and needs to grow into his own esp as a 16 yr old so he's going to need time hence, no first team games for him yet, IMO.

23 May 2021 22:39:29
So, Phillips for player of the season?

Not too many standouts, Fabinho, Tiago, Salah maybe?

Robbo played every game. Trent has been very good recently.

I just feel like Phillips has earned it, he's worked hard and made a huge difference when so many wrote him off. He'd get my vote.

1.) 23 May 2021 22:48:04
Is it players player Of the season or fans player of the season or both.

I could see Phillips winning fans player.
And maybe Wiji winning players player with the sentimental votes as let’s be honest there’s not been many stand out performers over the whole season. I think every player has had a drop off at some point this season.

Williams could even get young player of the year 🤷🏻‍♂️.

2.) 23 May 2021 22:51:56
Head says Salah, heart says Phillips.

3.) 23 May 2021 22:53:12
Salah maybe? Second highest scorer in the league, he carried us at times.

4.) 23 May 2021 23:24:16
Thiago, no chance.10 terrible games then improved towards the end. Next season will hopefully be his time.

5.) 23 May 2021 23:47:44
Phillips saved our season. Salah carried the team a lot though. Either of them suits me.

6.) 24 May 2021 00:18:53
Salah has been the best player. Great all year and really stepped up even higher this last month, as did Trent.

7.) 24 May 2021 01:01:06
Andy Robertson has to be up there his Stamina per game is just incredible.

Salah's numbers once again impressive.

Thiago reminds me of Fabinho when he first arrived, a slow start and then BOOM! He is a world class talent.

Honourable mentions to Nat Phillips And Rhys Williams and Ozan Kabak all who accepted the challenge at playing in defence and we kept our high line as well.

Curtis Jones got some Valuable minutes and i hope to see more of him next season as well.

Trent came through a difficult spell and came through it.

Jota came in and gave us something different up front, he is still raw and needs to improve but he is at the right age to do so, only injury stopped his debut season being more impressive as he sadly lost momentum that being out for 3 months would do.

My pick would be Salah for his goals and Robbo for his incredible engine, yes he burned out during the period we struggled in but once he regained his energy he never looked back- One of the all time great signings for £8m.

8.) 24 May 2021 03:59:52
Becker. Gets my vote, then Nat.
Never mentioned but he wins us points. Best keeper in the world.

{Ed0666's Note - best striker in the world I’d say

9.) 24 May 2021 04:02:30
It’s so clearly Salah. If Phillips, who has done excellently in the last 10-15 games, is in the running, so should Mane be as he has a great start to the season.

But the only player who has kept it going all season is Mo!

23 May 2021 18:28:19
Remember when some fans were worried about Everton finishing above us? Winning the league even.

Bring on next season!

{Ed0666's Note - Covid does strange things to people

1.) 23 May 2021 18:36:49
Does anyone know any no win no fee lawyers? I’ve just looked at the league table and on looking so far down to see them I’ve strained my neck.

2.) 23 May 2021 18:47:04
Just goes to show, winning a battle is meaningless if you don’t win the war. And obviously congratulations to them for finishing in mid table.

3.) 23 May 2021 18:52:05
Mane found his mojo again 💪
It was nervous at times but the team played well, and especially well done to the centre backs.
I definitely didn’t think we’d get CL this season and I’ve been under-estimating the two lads (especially Phillips) constantly but I’m delighted to have got those wrong!
An interesting Summer awaits.
Huge thanks to Gini Wijnaldum, and I’m so glad that he got a fantastic ovation off the crowd. I’d have given him a 3 years deal personally but that’s life.

4.) 23 May 2021 18:54:45
Now that this stupid season is over and we have the relief of finishing 3rd, so we can move on from it, we need to pity those less fortunate than us.

I am of course referring to Everton fans. Deluding themselves for a couple of months into thinking Ancelotti and "Hamez" were going to make things different for them this season, only to struggle across the line in 10th. Must be awful. They can't even celebrate their most prominent contribution to the season (crocking Virgil) because that would give the game away that they actually enjoyed seeing a pro have his career endangered and make all their "lol move on bitter Liverpool fans. " comments into a clear nonsense :)

I have so much sympathy. I think I'll start a charity.

5.) 23 May 2021 18:59:22
5 off second!
Bloody Leeds, bloody Newcastle.

6.) 23 May 2021 19:22:30
Yeah Carlo finished 8th the same as big Sam who took over half way through the season and hardly spent any money.

7.) 23 May 2021 19:33:14
Bloody Burnley and Brighton!

8.) 23 May 2021 19:39:08
That would of only been an extra 4 points.

9.) 23 May 2021 19:39:21
And West Brom and Fulham
But we weren’t that far off
Look forward.

10.) 23 May 2021 20:34:50
We dropped 22 points against the bottom 7 sides only getting 1 point of Brighton and Fulham.

11.) 23 May 2021 20:45:26
The main thing was that we came back from it, we took advantage when the others fell and when it came to the crunch there were some big performances.

12.) 23 May 2021 19:41:39
Carlo finished 10th didn’t he? Not 8th?

13.) 23 May 2021 19:42:04
I thought they'd won the league in September.

Always liked Asensio and would be buzzing if we signed him, feel like it's just another name though.
I'm sitting back until something is actually announced or atleast concrete.

They're playing around with him at false 9, it's been mentioned in a few interviews with Pep and Jurgen and he's played there a couple of times.
I'm actually all for it although he's probably not the best finisher, he can certainly do a job.

Im not worries but it nice to see so much love for Hendo now after years of grief.

If you look at every twitter post or YouTube video from lfc now, the comments are flooded with fans asking for Hendo to stay and get a new contract.

I absolutely want him to retire at the club, his influence is obvious.

Gutted to see him leave, he'd never be better than 4th choice at the moment to be fair but he's kinda earned that cult status.

Sure he'd do well at a bottom half prem team where he'll spend most of the game making clearances.

If I understand correctly then something like that wouldn't come from FSG? It'd come from the management team, FSG wouldn't have/ want a say on things like that.

Jones, Elliott, and Trent in the team is something I'd love to see!
