Hi Eds and Posters, fairly long time reader of the site so thought i'd put some thoughts down. I understand some of the frustrations of those who are calling out FSG, yes, I too would have liked to see further investment in the team; however, I accept the lack of funds is a result of players for whatever reasons not departing our club. I would be interested to know opinions of those who think FSG are not good enough for us regarding who they feel are the best owners of prem clubs. The way I see it, FSG have made mistakes but have provided financial stability, new stands and training grounds, vastly improved our commercial deals and put in place a team of coaching staff and players, the best the club has witnessed since the '80's, all of which has led to trophies and a vibrant very watchable style of play. All prem clubs are owned by millionaires either singularly or as a consortium, all business's strive to make profits and our owners reinvest this. A better set of owners. Delia at Norwich perhaps? But then wait, surely they should spend to secure their prem status and not yo yo in and out of the EFL selling their best players each season. We wouldn't stand for that would we? Maybe Spurs? Levy denied Kane a move and built an amazing stadium, but then did they build on their league and champs league success of a few years ago? Glazers Kroenke or Ashley maybe? Even the 'members owned' models of RM and Barcelona are not without their risks, as romantic as it sounds to be a part owner of your club, as elected Presidents will carve empires for themselves or pander to the populace disregarding the financial burdens. My point is, let's not worry about the money FSG will one day make on their investment, let's appreciate the players and coaching staff we have and the relative financial security of the club. Rant over 😁.

FSG didn’t reach into their pockets this summer due to FFP restrictions, not cos they have short arms and deep pockets.

Fuser, I fully agree. This whole idea that FSG don’t want to reach into their pockets is rubbish. We all know what FFP is but people (not the OP in any way) will conveniently ignore that cos the club are not doing what they want.

Well I distinctly remember Ed002, when answering a question on Man City transfer dealings, something in the line of that City had players to sell and the "owners contribution" or words to that effect.

It would be interesting to know how much this could be? Is it every season? Once in a blue moon and have Fsg ever done the same?

Just for clarity, nothing else.

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City’s owners can only provide additional funds to the same level as FSG.}

Maybe they should look into a super league, with massive amounts of money and buy the best players from around the world.

Nah that would be stupid.

I would be surprised if Henderson left for Saudi Arabia this summer. I imagine he has his sights set on featuring in what would probably be his final England tournament, Euro 2024. Would be hard to claim a position in the squad whilst booting a bag of wind around the desert.

Eds, I for one wouldn't want to see Bobby replaced in the squad, but is there any interest in the lad Johnson? He's been in the number 10 role for a couple of years although he has scored several own goals. He had 2 years left on his contract but appears to have been released today. just wondering if you've heard anything ??.

I agree with Ed1 regarding TAA. My line of work brings me in to contact with many well known faces, footballers not least amongst them. On the several occasions I have encountered Trent he came across as approachable friendly and polite. in marked contrast from several of his England team colleagues.
As for the 66 debate, I would not be against Trent changing numbers. Many great players are associated with specific shirt numbers, 7 has been worn by Suarez Keegan and Dalglish for instance, but they loan the shirt until the next incumbent. Trent has an opportunity to literally make the number 66 shirt his own. Imagine at the end of his career to be known as the world class, one club local lad who wore the 66. Truly iconic.
