First Ndukwe (17) from Vienna,
then Adekoya (19) from Burney (although he is a scouser)
and now it looks like possibly Ndiaye (18) from Amitie.

All young CBs for the U21s. Clearly we don't have a lot of faith in what we have there at the moment. All we need now is a similar approach to the first team CB setup.

08 Jan 2026 17:00:22
And we'll still end up signing somebody else who is 18 right now for 75million from a redbull when they are 24.

Agree5

Scumbag Coote avoids a red card.

08 Jan 2026 13:09:05
It's absolutely disgusting, but nothing surprises me anymore with this shameful so called justice system. There is no punishment too severe for sick animals like Coote.

Agree9

08 Jan 2026 14:00:12
I'm sure he claimed it was Klopp's fault he had that grot on his laptop.

Agree5

08 Jan 2026 14:04:00
Funny how the law doesn't apply to those who have money.

No justice in justice. Just injustice.

Agree8

08 Jan 2026 17:02:14
Not sure he's got any money to be honest. I remember seeing he was destitute and working for just eat or something like that recently.
Shame eh.

Agree2

The law in this country is as corrupt as him.

Looks like Bournemouth have unearthed another diamond in 19 year old Eli Junior Kroupi who now has seven goals in only seven league starts, we'll probably be chasing his signature in a couple of years time.

08 Jan 2026 13:05:09
He looks a special talent indeed, he's only started 7 games and bagged 7 goals, first teenager to do it since Dele Alli, hopefully his career doesn't go that way.

Agree3

08 Jan 2026 15:04:15
Watched his dad (Elie Kroupi) play in French second division during my time living in the country. Pretty good player.

Read an article about him and his dad advised him to go to B'mouth as a youngster even tho, Elie Junior he had better offers. Seems to be a good decision as he is getting game time and proving himself.

Agree3

08 Jan 2026 12:10:56
Semeymo £62 million trick missed in all fairness him and Geuhi would have made a huge difference to that 1st 11 ah well hopefully we get a CB in before the window closes 🤞.

08 Jan 2026 13:12:13
Doubt we'll be signing a centre back either. We're well and truly in limp home mode.

Agree3

08 Jan 2026 15:05:52
@NOT, Im not even sure if we wanted him for real cos based on the info out there, Slot and Hughes had disagreements about signing Semenyo who actually wanted to come to us, really.

Agree1

08 Jan 2026 17:37:03
Not sure I'd be paying £40 million for Guehi, when we could potentially get him for nothing in the summer.

Agree1

08 Jan 2026 11:43:25
So I saw the incident with Frank drinking from an Arsenhole cup.

Whilst I see the funny side, I also wonder how it was possible that the manager of Spurs, is totally oblivious to the fact that he is drinking from an Arsenhole cup.

The fans must be livid. and rightly so given the rivalry.

08 Jan 2026 12:58:29
Surely Spurs fans aren't that petty, it's just a cup.

Agree7

08 Jan 2026 13:44:29
But they are though AAR91. All football fans are.

They want unwavering loyalty from all players, managers, coaches, owners whilst they slag them all off on social media and ask for them to be replaced.

I agree, the cup shouldn't matter but it's a huge cock up by Frank given the form of the team. He doesn't want to give the fans any more excuses to dislike him and drinking from an Arsenal cup will wind some of them up.

If they were top of the league they'd all laugh it off. Football fans are fickle that way.

Agree2

08 Jan 2026 14:06:17
To be fair, if we saw Slot drinking from an Everton or United cup people wouldn't be very happy and it'd go mental on here. I agree, it's just a cup lol but I understand why people would be pee'd off about it.

Agree5

08 Jan 2026 14:33:33
Frank has already come out and said along the lines of Arsenal were the last team in the away dressing room.

One of his team made him an espresso before the pitch walk as they always do and just used a cup which was available. Turns out Arsenal had left some in there.

He gets the issue but it is not his biggest issue right now. Spurs fans need not make more of it that it is.

Agree2

08 Jan 2026 15:06:56
JLC, no way. He did that? The guy is really trying to get his fans' bad side.

Agree2

08 Jan 2026 15:57:16
Out of all the things going on in the world, if any spurs fan has any reaction to that other then "meh" then they need to get their heads checked.
If Slot was drinking out of an Everton mug I'd laugh and assume someone's played a joke on him or there's been a mix up.

Agree2

08 Jan 2026 17:07:02
It's a cup, grow up.

Agree1

08 Jan 2026 17:39:49
When Ronald Koeman was manager of Everton, he had a red decorations on his Christmas tree and the blue noses lost the plot, saying his tree should be blue. petty I know but we're still tribal.

Agree0

08 Jan 2026 18:31:11
He's clearly been stitched up by whoever greets the opposing manager with coffee at Bournemouth.

It's just a storm in a teacup.

Agree1

08 Jan 2026 11:37:09
We signed Tommy Hilfiger up with the club today. The ITK's never mentioned him previously!

08 Jan 2026 12:49:05
Endo, do you reckon he'll figure in the team.

Agree2

08 Jan 2026 12:59:52
He might fit in somewhere.

Agree1

08 Jan 2026 15:07:36
Will we leave Adidas and have "Tommy" do our kits now?

Agree0

08 Jan 2026 10:00:13
Mad how we are attempting to
Go through the season with two fit CBs

Two players that change this team are Guehi and Semenyo, both better than Konate and then gakpo.

The quicker hughes and slot leave the better.

08 Jan 2026 10:10:55
Maybe just maybe Semenyo prefers city.

Agree2

08 Jan 2026 10:24:34
Well we started with four, one injury prone and the other young lad injured. So you aren't entirely correct but we do need another for sure 👍.

Agree1

08 Jan 2026 10:50:44
We have options at CB but Slot is just unwilling to use his squad options. Gomez and Endo barely get a sniff no matter how bad Konate's performances get. Endo is injured now and not even an option. The injury to Leoni was unfortunate but we went into this season with 4 CB's, Endo who has played more games at CB in his career than he has anywhere else and a youth academy.

Lucky is actually standing out with the u21's as far too good for that level, and Slot's still refusing to give any chances to him. United gave Heaven a go (same age as Lucky) and he outperformed all their senior players. There is absolutely no excuse not to give Lucky his chance. And I don't just mean in a Cup game where there's 10 other changes to the team and he's basically thrown to the wolves. Slot seems to have no idea how to integrate squad or youth players, he plays them in a team where the whole side is changed and then seemingly decides they're all not good enough when they fail to gel instantly. On the outside looking in, it appears as though he has a core 14 or 15 players who he relies on to play nearly every minute of every game, and to try and make that possible he has them playing at half pace so they don't get over worked. It's backfiring though because now his core group are dropping like flies with injuries because they're not fit enough and the squad players aren't match fit either because they never get a kick. We got away with it the first 6-8 months of Slot's tenure because the players were still fit from the previous regime.

It would've been nice to replace Konate in the summer but we didn't need an extra CB (again, we had 4 senior CB's, plus the academy and Endo as a multi-tool) . The Leoni injury was unfortunate and it should now accelerate our plans to replace Konate as a priority this January before he actually leaves. But we're not short at CB numbers wise, we're just lacking a real top quality starter to play with Virgil. On top of that Slot's refusal to utilise Gomez, Endo and Lucky (and theseason ending injury to Leoni to be fair) has been an issue as Konate has no pressure on his place in the team and he knows it.

Gomez, Leoni and Endo as the back up options was not a problem for me going into the season. Going forward, maybe Bajcetic can phase out Endo as the versatile CM/ CB option going forward or someone else from the academy might (Ayman is also this mould of player) . I also think Lucky could phase out Gomez as he's a CB who can also play RB. Replacing Konate with a starter is the priority and then next summer or January we should start to think about the long term replacement for Virgil, or whether we think Virgil can play beyond the end of this current contract as a starter. I don't think you need 4 CB's of equal quality. It isn't a position you should rotate. Only in the event of a form or injury crisis should you need to turn to back up CB's.

To summarise, the problem (in my opinion) is that Slot's not turned to the options he has during the form crisis. He's just let Konate fester and stink the place out.

Agree6

08 Jan 2026 11:07:48
What's with some fans, who think Liverpool has a bottomless money pit, wanting this player and that player. Don't they realise how much was paid out in the summer for the players brought in. We all know what is needed, but I doubt we will get then before the summer.

Agree2

08 Jan 2026 11:10:20
We just have to get on with it as much as some of us don't like it. Just take a mental note of who said it's fine it's a transitional season for future reference.

Agree2

08 Jan 2026 11:35:45
It's a bit worrying to think we have had only 2 fit centre backs all season and we look
No closer to signing one.

Agree2

08 Jan 2026 12:01:25
Who says we won't go in for Guehi towards the end of the window when palace realise the bluff of £40m has been called? Gomez for me should have been gone outa the club two years ago. Not good or robust enough, already been injured a couple of times this season.

Im all for the academy players getting chances but unless Lucky has improved immeasurably since the last time i seen him he is not good enough at this stage in his career.

Agree1

08 Jan 2026 13:16:20
We've two very injury prone centre backs, both of whom are out of form, one long term injury in Leoni and Van Dijk as our only reliable one. I don't want to hear nonsense about midfielders playing there as it's always a disaster.

There's no one at under 23 remotely capable of stepping up. This is the thing that may absolutely cost us a champions league place.

Agree5

08 Jan 2026 14:41:04
Guehi is no better than Konate. Guehi will also struggle badly in a defense setup like ours.

Agree0

08 Jan 2026 15:11:05
Thiagos Mate, change what team? The team that is playing a crap system to the point of putting many of the fans to sleep or checking their Instagram? Mate, it doesn't matter who we have or sign, the way we play is paralysing the team as a whole. Any player coming in will become paralysed as well, btw.

Change the system to one that suits the players we have (and sign) and maybe we can start seeing things change. Till then? No individual player is coming to change anything here, Im sorry.

Morning Ed's and everyone.

Just going through some old footage last night with my neighbour and chatting about how GREAT a player Kevin Keegan was - he's the same age bar a year (my neighbour) and took some convincing as he's an ardent Bristol Rovers fan and thought Bruce Bannister was the 70s goat .

"Jokes" aside Keegan was a truly great liverpool player and imo a true world class player and he's in my top 5 Liverpool all time greats . He always rose to the really big time, big game occasions for us .

Question is though that back then clubs like Liverpool would scout the lower leagues for these gems, Clemence was another that comes to mind and players like Ian St John and Hanson plucked from lesser known Scottish clubs .
Other big name clubs always scouted well at lower league levels so why do you think things have changed so much? I know the big club academy systems are supposed to get these youngsters early but there must still be gems at lower league levels not being picked up?

08 Jan 2026 09:11:27
Sad news about Terry Yorath!

Agree9

08 Jan 2026 09:59:53
We got Robbo from a lesser club for 8 million
Lower league clubs cottoned on and wanted millions for untried players that may stand out in their own level but not the prem .
If you look at what we are doing at the moment we are finding young boys with talent and buying them at a cost some millions some bargains so we still do look in the lower leagues but in their youth level.

YNWA.

Agree0

08 Jan 2026 07:38:53
Not a rumour or having a go at anyone but I'm sure we all wish Kevin Keegan all the best and hope for the all clear.

well said Lawler.

Here here lawler. Kevin is a superstar a top lad . I was in Germany just outside of Hamburg working the Hamburg fans idolised Kevin and us being reds they used to ask us about his time at LFC he did become a world superstar.

I was told many years ago that he would of managed us but he was not happy the way the club were with Shanks .
Lets pray Kevin makes a full recovery very soon YNWA.

Genuine prediction for tonight. As Arsenal are at home, are flying clear at the top of the league, have nearly all their major players available and we are playing such tepid awful football I think Arsenal win 6-1.

With our 1 goal coming at the very end from a sub who will show more fight and drive in the 15 mins they are on than the rest do the whole game. 45/ 1 for that result if anyone wants to get on it.

{Ed078's Note - so tempted to delete this, but free speech is free speech.

A cheerless life you lead, my friend.

Agree7

08 Jan 2026 07:41:23
Haha, that's hilarious. I actually wouldn't be surprised if we turned up like the Madrid game and managed to carve out a result. Equally however I can see Arsenal beating us comfortably, I don't see it being a rollover though.

Agree7

08 Jan 2026 08:08:44
It'll be tight, there will be a goal in it either way.

If any team wins by more than a goal it will be us.

Agree3

08 Jan 2026 08:17:49
Yes, we struggling but don't write us off. Will lego head park the bus? Fergie even with some of his great sides would park the bus sometimes against us. I've got a feeling that this won't be as easy as everyone thinks. Arsenal are at classic bottle job time with City chasing and we have nothing to lose really.

Hi all, long time reader and newbie poster.

Re: the MG situation, if he wants to go to City and spend a lot of time on the bench then so be it, but it is a WC year, so i don't think he will rush into that. Also, what happened to the boy from Bruges we were supposedly after?

Finally, i can only assume that kimuraking is a troll, either that, or he is just a dour faced git.

Agree4

08 Jan 2026 08:55:07
Kim, just chuck the dummy and throw yourself on the floor kicking and screaming, it'll get it out your system quicker than all these embarrasing posts.

Agree4

08 Jan 2026 08:58:28
Its either going to be we get smashed 3-0 or we actually turn up like Madrid or the earlier Arsenal game, I'll be equally annoyed and amused if we do beat them.

Agree0

08 Jan 2026 09:22:05
This is Arsenals moment to seize all initiative and we will truly see what they are made of tonight. If they win I believe it'll be one hand on the trophy.

I think they might lean into the criticism they received at Anfield and go for it which will lead to a few goals. A draw wouldn't surprise me.

But for Arsenal, the pressure is all on them, they face a Liverpool side not at it, chasing their first title for 20+ years. If, and it's a big if, we were to score first I think it will make it a very interesting match.

If we nab a win, the heat on Arsenal will be at fever pitch, as everyone will question if they are about to throw it away again.

On paper, we don't stand a chance, but it's a good job it's not played on paper.

I.

Kimuraking has been around for a long time, even when Leek was still around. Besides, Lee's posts is littered with grammatical errors and weird sentence structures. Not a criticism of Leek since English is more probably not his first language but it's starkly different from Kimuraking.

08 Jan 2026 10:33:25
I can't see anything other than an Arsenal win tonight. Playing poorly or not, they seem to be able to get the win. Of course, it helps when VAR repeatedly give you some huge, head scratching decisions in your favour.
As per the City game, I'm expecting another contentious decision against us.

Agree1

08 Jan 2026 11:03:48
Tonight's really difficult to call. We could produce an Inter or Real Madrid style performance and win narrowly, equally though we're missing key attackers and Arsenal are playing pretty well. It's always been a tough place to go.

Agree1

I may be wrong, but I thought kimuraking used to be a fairly positive poster back in the day.
Anyway, hope you're doing alright mate.

It's usually at this point of the season Arsenal literally drop the ball. Let's see. Hopefully we can sneak a win or take a point. If we are beaten badly Slot will be in big trouble is have thought.

Glaser has said defiantly that Guehi is not being sold this window. So that's an absolute confirmation he's off to City then.

08 Jan 2026 07:52:00
Could you explain a bit more how you got "not being sold this window = absolute confirmation he's off to city"? I'm not very good at math but I think there are a few steps to that equation that you have skipped over that could help us understand it ;)

Agree4

08 Jan 2026 09:04:19
Drac (and don't beat me up here), it could mean that Glasner does not want to sell Guehi to LFC specifically (for whatever reason) hence, he is happy to sell him to City. Hence, the OP's comment. Just my take, mate.

Agree1

08 Jan 2026 12:01:50
Palace will no doubt sell Guehi to whoever waves the biggest wad in front their face (assuming the player agrees) .
