Rumours that Liverpool are looking to sign Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes in January.

Not sure about the player, as I have zero knowledge about most goings on in Ligue 1, but does anyone know what kind of player he is? Would he be regarded as a good signing, if he were to come in?

Whether it is Jacquet or someone else, I really hope we look to a centre back in January. We are light already in that position, and that is before considering our current/ available options. Van Dijk is approaching 35, and Gomez and Konate have been injury concerns in the recent past. Hopefully Leoni overcomes the ACL injury and becomes a fixture moving forward, and Guehi comes in either in January or the simmer. But even with these 2 additions, Van Dijk and Konate may not be at the club in a year or two, so it is important we prepare for this eventuality rather than drop ourselves in a really bad situation.

I haven’t watched much of him but feels like a similar player to the Konate we signed in 2021.

18 Dec 2025 21:58:03
If we sign him- I’ll get my coat….

He could add another layer to our defence. Hopefully we're not being hoody winked. let's just hope we don't get fleeced.

Obrigado Senor 25 😁.

I’ve heard Mark Morrison is a Rennes fan. If we get Jeremy Jacquet Mark will be demanding the return of the Mack.

12 first team appearances for Rennes. Maybe one for the future but we need someone experienced for the now.

 1

19 Dec 2025 06:25:36
He'd be perfect for a cold rainy night in stoke.

19 Dec 2025 06:47:39
Some amount of anoraks on this thread.

Would offer lots of cover for the defence.

 1

19 Dec 2025 07:03:12
Hopefully he can sit just inside pocket and allow others to zip up the middle.

 2

19 Dec 2025 07:30:12
I hear he is a bit of a potato,

I've seen the rumours that City and United are driving for Semenyo

What are the chances, and do the Eds' know his preference?

Few rumours to keep an eye on. We are interested in AZ Alkmaars young midfield prodigy called Kees Smit. £25m and knows Slot from his time there. a lot of big clubs watching him. Apparently Slot is pushing for him this January. A technical player with great football intelligence.

We still have interest in Assan Ouedraogo the young creative player at Red Bull Leipzig. We were interested from his time at Schalke. Seems we want a young midfielder with Alex Toth linked for next summer. Endo replacement perhaps.

Young Cardiff CB Lawlor is getting everyone's attention from the Prem aswell as Europe's big sides. Rumours we want him and are offering Calvin Ramsay as a straight swap.

Regarding Salah Italian reports and others from Egypt and Turkey suggest we want £30-40m. Galatasary want Salah and are hoping to go for him rather than Lookman.

 17

16 Dec 2025 08:48:26
All sound very plausible to be fair. Thanks for sharing.

 6

16 Dec 2025 09:45:47
Pretty sure every single top European club is looking at smit, oueudraugo and toth, Smit especially looks a special talent and toth is already a standout player at senior level.

 5

16 Dec 2025 10:04:05
All very plausible rumours I think.

Although I don't really buy that Slot "knows" Smit from his time at AZ. Slot left AZ in 2020, at which point Smit would have been 14.

It makes sense that we are looking at him, he looks excellent, but I don't think it will have anything to do with Slot knowing him, it's just because he's a good player that everyone is after.

Lawlor could be a great player (he was born and played his youth football just up the road from me), but no way is he ready for Prem football yet, he needs at least 2 seasons on loan or for Cardiff to get promoted and him be playing at a higher level consistently. If we bring him in now the club needs a solid plan for him, not just to let him linger round the squad for a bit before being moved on like we've done so many times.

 6

16 Dec 2025 12:14:26
Smit and Ouedraogo are box to box mids.

I think Toth profiles more like a deep lying playmaker.

 1

16 Dec 2025 13:41:29
Endo replacement? You mean someone to sit on the bench and barely be used by Slot?

 14

16 Dec 2025 16:20:40
Great info, as usual on here but surely we need CB's into the club before anything?

 4

16 Dec 2025 16:29:44
All great info as usual but surely we need at least 1 CB in before anything else!?

 3

16 Dec 2025 16:37:04
I hope Slot will be fired soon or at least he will be stopped otherwise to hire players from lower leagues. I could not care less if he knows those dutch players or not, we need premier league proven players or at least players from a very tough league but not another little boy lost.
Every dutch or coach does the same, bringing dutch players to his club.

Louis van Gaal had i think 9 dutch players at Barcelona at the same time and did not Ten Haag got himself fired from Leverkusen for trying to buy as much players as possible from an agency his son is working with?
A club of the statue of LFC needs a top class manager from a top class league. All the others can work out but have a higher possibility of being a failure.

 7

16 Dec 2025 18:02:25
Red Dawn I think the report said He stood out at youth level when Slot was there and he was watching the youth sides so kept an eye on him.

 3

16 Dec 2025 18:24:52
He's been a big name coming through in Holland for a few years now, as far back as when Slot was there.

 4

17 Dec 2025 06:44:59
Maybe if there was an Endo replacement then they would be used more often and not just sit on the bench?

 2

17 Dec 2025 07:44:44
I wonder if Smit would get the number ten shirt.

 1

17 Dec 2025 10:09:51
Very much taken with that idea @Rigsby 😁👏👏.

 2

17 Dec 2025 10:36:33
Surely you mean Smit-ten with that idea WDW?

 5

17 Dec 2025 19:19:33
Yep, I think @Rigsby will have guessed that 😉🙂.

18 Dec 2025 10:19:59
Definitely rigsbyand hope he doesn’t fall over all the time.

18 Dec 2025 16:48:53
I thought AZ had a deal going with Chelsea, some sort of agreement for their youth players, like a feeder club.

Ed 1 - Times report that City will make a big push for Guehi in the summer .

I know you said your pretty confident he’d still chose us but do you think this will harden our resolve to get it over the line in January and not chance leaving it to the summer window?

Thanks.

 1

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - we were already intent on trying again in January, due to the injury to Leoni.}

 12

15 Dec 2025 21:38:57
Thanks Ed

Going to be an interesting window for sure &
Not just for us.

 2

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - very true.}

 6

15 Dec 2025 22:31:35
We can’t wait until the last day of the window again, that’s for sure. He comes early or get someone else in.

 8

16 Dec 2025 03:15:05
What if ‘someone else” doesn’t want to come?

 1

16 Dec 2025 06:58:37
We really need 2 cbs in Jan but we certainly have to get 1 in. Guehi I think will be trickier in Jan than most people seem to think I'm not sure palace will let him go considering position they in league and also good chance in europe.

 2

16 Dec 2025 07:39:47
If its a non starter with Guehi hopefully we move on quickly, right now we only have VVD and Konate as senior centre backs available.

 2

16 Dec 2025 09:55:43
I think the Guehi outcome will ultimately be determined by the winner of Glasner v Parish. Parish doesn't want to lose his prize asset for free but Glasner doesn't want to lose his captain. I suspect it might come down to the ability of Palace to sign a Glasner approved replacement.

 2

16 Dec 2025 12:45:11
Sounds like Glasner has officially told Palace that he will not be renewing his deal. Not sure whether that has any influence.

 3

16 Dec 2025 18:26:07
I imagine it would FPF.

 1

17 Dec 2025 05:07:07
If I was Parish or Glassner or anybody else at Palace, I’d hang onto Guehi like a limpet. From their point of view he is their captain, a natural leader by the sounds of it and is leading Palace to one of their best seasons ever.

The further they go in Europe and the higher up the PL they finish the prize money should comfortably exceed what they would get for him in January. I’m not convinced it’s a done deal on January 1st.

 2

17 Dec 2025 21:05:41
Is Writz being offered for sale or is it just rumours?

 0

19 Dec 2025 06:33:03
I think it's just rumors - there's no way liv would be selling wirtz after such a short time

plus he's also been improving recently, there is no good reason to sell him as of now.

 0

15 Dec 2025 11:38:52
Good morning all, Quick question to the people in the know here

How confident are you that we will add to the squad in January and you do see us getting a winger and a centre back in? And do you think this will be Semenyo and Guehi or maybe others who have gone under the radar?

Thanks for taking the time.

 3

15 Dec 2025 11:49:20
RTFP

Just kidding, Thefields has posted a bit further down.

 13

15 Dec 2025 10:00:57
Hey ED01,

Hope you are well matey. Do you see with what’s happened and what’s been said Slot somehow turning his position around? Or is this too little to late in terms of the club and board?

Added if Slot was relieved of his duties would you take Gerrard and Heitinga as interim until a longer term like Alonso becomes available?

Thank you.

 0

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - as far as I know, Hughes has always backed Slot and he will be fine so long as performances keep improving.

I would not be a fan of any interim manager, I am not a fan of that kind of thing unlike Ed25. As he admitted last night during the podcast.}

 12

15 Dec 2025 19:03:22
Can we at least have Jurgen come and bollock the players back into fitness!

 2

15 Dec 2025 22:43:28
I should imagine Millie had a word with a few of them at the weekend 😉.

 2

15 Dec 2025 22:45:39
Gerrard as interim? Come on, he was a phenomenal player for us but he is no where close to being good enough to manage us. I’ll never understand the obsession with fans wanting him as manager.

 6

15 Dec 2025 23:14:35
Not many wanted Gerrard as manager, maybe somewhere in the coaching setup at a push. A few weeks ago things were looking a bit desperate for us, thankfully it’s improved.

There could be some rival fans on here distracting from their own managerial woes at the moment, who knows. It’s Thomas Franks turn to feel the media pressure today, probably be Amorim tomorrow. Arne’s having a nice break from it, let’s hope that continues.

 3

16 Dec 2025 07:51:31
No one wanted Gerrard as manager, however some were of the opinion we couldn’t do any worse at one point under Slot. Hopefully Slot can push on for now and continue to stabilise and turn things around, otherwise this will continue to raise discussion around Gerrard.

 1

16 Dec 2025 17:02:14
Can you see slot gone at the end of the season even if we win a trophy?

 1

17 Dec 2025 05:17:28
I wanted Slot to leave about two or three weeks ago, primarily because the club appeared to be - at least according to social media - in complete disarray, rather than him being a poor manager. I thought a fresh face was needed to restore order. I was wrong on two counts - listening to social media and over exaggeration of the disarray.

From a football perspective I think we would not be getting rid of a manager who would have won trophies year on year. Perhaps a case of, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

 0

14 Dec 2025 15:31:33
5 games unbeteaten. 3 wins 2 draws. 5 conceeded, 3 clean sheets and performances are not as dire as they were. Hopefully it continues.

On Guehi, basically Palace have a choice. Cash in on him in Jan or lose him for nothing in the summer. I suspect they will cash in. They are in talks for a CB from Atalanta. Both him and Semenyo are keen on the move to Anfield, fees and wages are not a problem. If we don't get Guehi, we will sign 1 of the back up options.

With Gomez being injured again, we may go in the market for a RB. A young Italian, can't remember his name because I had too many porn star martinis last night 😂.

 31

14 Dec 2025 15:37:45
Palestra.

 5

14 Dec 2025 15:43:50
Was the RB option Peter North?

 4

14 Dec 2025 15:47:37
20 yo Marco Palestra at Cagliari (owned by Atalanta) is probably the Italian RB you are talking of, Thefields.

 3

14 Dec 2025 15:52:47
Dare I say it we have seemingly turned a corner, them two and another young Italian defender would be a fine start to the new year.

All the best Fields.

 3

14 Dec 2025 16:06:21
Cheers Thefields. We definitely need a right back as the two we got are seemingly made of glass.

 5

14 Dec 2025 16:30:07
3 injury prone RB's on the books - let's buy another.

 1

14 Dec 2025 18:13:08
I really like Michael kayode very athletic can get up and down the flank with ease and looks like he can actually dig deep and defend when needed .

Guehi is needed in Jan
Semenyo I really like and would add much needed pace upfront
A right back would free up frimpong to be a rotation player on the right wing as he is more winger than full back . And someone to rotate with Bradley at full back allowing Gomez to cover centre half off the bench and when needed for his minutes .

Kayode would be a great choice but won’t be cheap although we have great relationship with Brentford.

 8

14 Dec 2025 18:40:44
Why are we not in for Givairo Read what are we actually doing he's literally perfect.

 4

14 Dec 2025 20:06:02
Are we now going to have to ask for updates on YLFA for the next few weeks?

 9

14 Dec 2025 23:33:20
Kayode is a good shout. Exactly the kind of piece you assume was dry-fitted in the summer, especially given how freely we were adding items to the trolley. That we didn’t pull it off the shelf feels deliberate rather than forgetful.

My read is the club are committed to BRADLEY (pre-owned) and don’t want to block the runner. You don’t install a temporary unit in front of something you believe will hold weight. He’s already shown what happens when the opponent arrives wearing white and the room is loud.

What remains is durability and conditioning of the imagination. Fewer sick notes, more visualisation. If every winger can be mentally relabelled “Madrid, ” the need for an additional bracket reduces significantly.

 9

15 Dec 2025 02:26:19
@MrBrightside, I think the club will have decided not to by any more RBs ever again.

 4

15 Dec 2025 05:03:39
Is it just me or is Fornax making more and more sense with his IKEA related posts? I swear I read all that and it made perfect sense in my head. I even found myself agreeing to it all.

 7

15 Dec 2025 07:54:29
Dracred, I weirdly agreed with it too haha. FORNAX has been posting in his own weird style for so long, that he is practically a part of the 'furniture' on here now. (ba dum tss)

I'll get my coat.

 6

15 Dec 2025 09:33:18
Drac, I agree with FORNAX on almost everything aswell.

I would question his reference to needing a bracket though.

I do believe that we would be in more need of a hinge and a multidirectional one would be even better - both Salah (and the current Madrid Trent) are both one dimensional brackets.

 0

15 Dec 2025 10:29:56
Dracred- he’s slowly turning us….

 1

15 Dec 2025 18:34:35
The birth of the Fornaxians!

 1

15 Dec 2025 20:31:35
Apart from
The fact that the 2 draws were against promoted sides and Brighton played the exact opposite of the type of football we have been struggling against.

Hoping we’ve turned a corner but so unconvinced by Slot’s tactical ability at this point. The football we play is tiresome to watch even if we are now getting results. We have far too good a squad to be playing so badly.

 1

15 Dec 2025 22:49:12
As with one or two other posters, @Brummy, you’ve conveniently overlooked the Milan match. Someone, I can’t remember who, tried to pass it off as being a European game presumably because they play those games under different rules.

We are going in the right direction. We are joint 5th in one of - if not the - toughest club leagues in the world having performed poorly for about three quarters of the games we have played so far. As you say the recent results are getting better - why not try and see the positives?

 5

16 Dec 2025 07:19:44
The Milan match was also awful to watch and let’s not pretend they are a great team. If we played with any intensity we would have been able to turn them over like psg did last year.

 1

16 Dec 2025 08:59:13
They were in the Champions League Final at the end of last season. Obviously they equate with a National League North side in English terms.

I thought it was good to watch.

Perhaps I went into the match without the pre-written script that a number of people have that says we are bad so we are going to be bad and people see everything that happens as being poor or awful, irrespective of what’s actually happening.

 3

19 Dec 2025 06:34:41
yeah i agree.

14 Dec 2025 10:04:52
Hi Diddly Ho,

Mo and Arne have had clear the air talks and Mo will not be leaving in January.

Mo does not want to leave the club.

Ask mentioned just before that interview, Mo and the management team are on different ideologies. That is still the case, but things are not all doom and gloom.

Both Mo and Arne want what’s best for the club overall, this isn’t all about Mo being dropped.

Semenyo is expected to come in January as a RW option, not an immediate replacement - as has always been the case. The club want a deal done early but Bournemouth may try prolong it.

Guehi again, nothing has changed. He’s wanted by us by CP haven’t budged on their fee.

I hope my next update is a development on one of the deals being close/ done.

Please don’t forget to support our club in the good AND the bad A criticism is acceptable but it needs to be for the good of those in charge as of now.

If not before, Happy Holidays to all and the best in the new year.

Diddly Out.

 36

14 Dec 2025 10:25:37
Happy holidays? Perhaps your John, Tom or Billy? 🤔.

14 Dec 2025 10:26:14
Hi ned . thanks as usual

Got to be honest semenyo in from Jan sounds like another explosion ready to happen .
If he is indeed mos replacement long term he is obviously going straight in the team . mo is away all will be fine . but what happens when mo comes back. ? Is he going to fight for his place or just expect to be started . or even if he gets subbed off .
I hope we don't mess about with CP . we want guehi. we need him especially with lack of depth or options there . so just pay the fee and get it done.

I don't suppose you have heard anything on poor Harvey? Likely coming back in jan . hope he just doesn't sit on the bench like the other non slot favourites.

Happy days. hopefully a week between games means we can work on some very good game plans .

 2

14 Dec 2025 10:37:52
My apologies, Mo and Arne have had the clear the air talks. Mo and his agent have also had discussions with the club as well - clearing that air too - this is a very important bit I forgot to mention.

 9

14 Dec 2025 10:52:25
@MightyR3ds

I’m not sure on how the rotation will work when Mo returns - but we continue to start seeing our new signings become a core towards - certainly something to be excited for.

As for Harvey the last update (few weeks ago) I had was the club and AV are exploring options to end the loan early. A early termination fee will be paid by Villa but I’m unsure of the amount, may be negligible especially if we are able to move him elsewhere. I did know of a couple of German clubs interested, but I wouldn’t be surprised if other clubs come in from elsewhere.

In my own opinion I really think Villa have messed Harvey around - this is just me speculating but it wouldn’t surprise me if Emery didn’t know about the deal until it was done. Surprisingly common in football these days.

 8

14 Dec 2025 11:09:31
I really don’t think anyone on this site is not supporting the the team and criticism is required when things are not correct otherwise your living in a dictatorship. Slot has rightfully been criticised along with some players and club officials. All the fans want the best for the club and team it’s that simple.

 11

14 Dec 2025 12:01:34
The Salah stuff is all posturing, surely. He is at peak value now in the context of a 2 year contract, and his form is usually woeful following AFCON.
Semenyo is ready now and will open up space for others. Mo won't fancy being a sub.

 5

14 Dec 2025 12:26:12
It’s not just about Mo being happy either. The club can’t afford Mo not to be in the starting eleven. He’s being paid way too much to turn into a rotation option.

From a wage perspective somebody on those wages needs to be a pivotal part of the team.

 7

14 Dec 2025 12:31:55
I think the thing is @Coul that some of the criticism is just personal opinion and not really based in fact and / or without any understanding of context within the club. You also have to remember that FSG own the club and have the right, as owners, to do whatever they want.

That’s not a dictatorship, that’s business decisions down to the owners. If you, me or anybody else expresses any opinion about the club FSG ignoring the opinion isn’t a dictatorship.

 7

14 Dec 2025 12:34:40
There’s criticism which is constructive and then there’s daft comments like
‘Slot is clueless’
‘Slot has no man-management skills’

Both exist from time to time.

 10

14 Dec 2025 12:35:13
City and Spurs both want Semenyo and going hard for him aswell as us. I think all three will agree fees and it will be upto the player to decide. We have until 10th January. Nothing Bournemouth can do if we offer the release clause and player agrees. Guehi I don't reckon will happen in January.

Glasner already unhappy with Parish about not bringing in players in the summer so will not want to lose his captain midway and Guehi is an honourable man. Expect him on a free in the summer and another perhaps Ordonoz coming in January.

 1

14 Dec 2025 12:51:50
WDW not saying you can’t ignore criticism it’s the fact of trying to say that by being critical we are not supporting our team which is nonsense.

 6

14 Dec 2025 13:10:01
The club aren't just going to pay silly money either for Guehi either with him being free in a few months. And they shudnt either. if its true Palace are asking what they were asking for him in the summer well that's just silly. We were getting offered 20m for Trent Arnold last year, that's the most the club should be offering for Guehi.

 3

14 Dec 2025 14:05:20
I think one of Jacquet or Ordonez is more likely to arrive than Guehi given Palace are participating in another strong season. Glasner and Parish won't want outgoings.

Semenyo seems like the one Hughes wants, so can see that one happening too.

I read that our scouts are watching Rennes v Brest and Lyon v Le Havre this weekend.

Jacquet was suspended and Fofana is out injured, so maybe they are watching other targets.

 4

14 Dec 2025 15:45:44
Thanks for the info and seasons greetings to you, Rod and Todd!

 2

14 Dec 2025 17:27:59
Cheers for update Ned. Keep the info coming 👍🏻.

 1

14 Dec 2025 17:28:16
Ned, I’m of the view that the Villa loan was a waste of time. Elliott would be better served going to Germany, France, or Spain he’d flourish playing regularly in a less physical and more technical level of football. He was never going to succeed at Villa because as soon as results go badly, he’d be the first one dropped.

 7

15 Dec 2025 22:52:41
@Coul, totally agree with the sentiment of your last post - assuming the criticism is thought out and constructive. Unfortunately, in the heat of the moment (being charitable) that’s not always the case,

 1

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - you need to lighten up a bit WDW,..its Christmas, get that pole out of your arse mate and treat others as you would like to be treated, you never know you might enjoy it more...Scrooge.. :)

14 Dec 2025 00:15:21
Semenyo and Guehi in the January window, Salah situation patched up enough so that he's here until the end of the season, Slot will be given until at least the end of the season barring a complete collapse.

Not a fan of splinters in the arse so getting off the fence and passing on what I was told yesterday by the same bloke who gave me some pretty decent info I posted back in the summer window.

 17

14 Dec 2025 09:38:13
Thanks RedChester. All sounds pretty plausible and probably the best steps for the club to take right now.

 6

14 Dec 2025 12:24:35
Semenyo has scored 0 goals in his last 7 games with Iraola and his team winning 1 of those games. Funny old game.

There is definitely interest in Michael Olise and also interest in Salah from Munich. There's no chance of a swap deal but people are negotiating. No idea where it will end up but we will find out.

 3

14 Dec 2025 11:28:29
I am not sure about Michael Olise. It seems pretty easy for former EPL players to be on fire in the Bundesliga. Serge Gnabry, Jadon Sancho, Luis Diaz.

14 Dec 2025 12:04:44
Salah would clean up in the Bundi.
I like Olise but reckon there are as good players out there for less.

Hi all,

Apologies, been a while since I’ve posted on here due to personal reasons, but I have a few bits of information I’ve been meaning to share for a while (apologies, this will be a long post, with a lot of names).

This is coming from the same sources within the club who gave me reliable information during the summer re Isak, Wirtz, etc. so they are sources I trust - but I need to add the disclaimer that this is a particularly volatile time at the club, and things are absolutely subject to change, so please take with a healthy pinch of salt, and don’t shoot the messenger!

Fair play for taking the time to pass on the info red.

Ryan Flamingo is too one footed for me.

Good read. Thank-you.

Red notice . a good assessment of our current woes . at least the board aren't just doing nothing about how this season is playing out . Slot was a good decision this year but not working out this year, some players need to move on, some on here all have different ideas of who they'd like to stay or . fascinating and exciting times ahead.

12 Dec 2025 21:29:09
My only question is about the morale of the new signings. I'm curious to know if there is unrest among Wirtz, Ekitike, Kerkez, etc.

 4

12 Dec 2025 21:36:53
Interesting that there is a possibility that Grav leaves. Is there some indication that he may not sign a new contract?

He's world class on his day, although his form is patchy.

 3

12 Dec 2025 22:24:18
Links to Ordonoz for £35m his buyout clause. Plays rcb. Guehi plays lcb so get both in. Celik of Roma been linked as an experienced RB on a free but a lot interested. I'd take Stiller and Wharton for midfield. Fofana and Semenyo for the wings.

A well put together essay of everything people know already fantastic.

12 Dec 2025 22:26:46
Just so appalled by the job Hughes and Edwards have done.
Like the article says ‘everything is in turmoil’.

This is their job, to keep the club stable and progressing, not disrupting everything and thrashing around trying to sign everyone and change managers like they change their duds.

It’s basic stuff and they’re failing at the basics.
Players and managers will struggle at a club in turmoil, look at Man U. We must not follow that disaster, we must be better. We need stability urgently.

 12

12 Dec 2025 23:13:04
So hughes and edwards have the club in turmoil because they signed players every1 wanted in the summer? And as far as we know they are backing Slot. Jesus it only takes for someone to put up one post for us to slaughter everyone in the club. Edwards and Hughes also appointed Slot who won us the league did they not? .

 33

13 Dec 2025 00:14:29
Great and well written thanks for sharing.

Rojack Grav was very good last year but in no way is he a world class midfielder.

 9

13 Dec 2025 00:25:36
If gravenberch isn't a world class midfielder I don't know what a world class midfielder looks like.

13 Dec 2025 00:27:48
Hey RedNotice97, just want to ask is it true we are letting Wataru Endo leave as early as January if suitable offer arrives? If he leaves surely a replacement comes in?

Fantastic article btw. Loved it.

FM - Hughes and Edwards are supposed to know better than fans on a message board . Just because “everyone” wanted to sign the players we signed (actually not everyone), doesn’t mean that’s the right thing to do. I don’t know many people who were asking for the signing of Wirtz before we signed him.
Wirtz and Isak (our 2 biggest signings) were not “needed”.

Isak because he was unfit and Wirtz was a luxury signing who didn’t fit into the team.
The club is obviously in turmoil when you have a manager being called out by senior players in the press, senior players pleading in the press for new contracts, results nose-diving and rumours of dressing room feuds with players refusing to pass to teammates.

 5

13 Dec 2025 02:00:32
Whilst I appreciate the rumour, anyone treating this as fact needs their head examined.

 11

13 Dec 2025 04:13:10
I think we're beginning to see that wirtz very much does fit into this team. With the loss of Trent and the impending departure of mo, whether this is soon or at the end of his contract, means we need somebody who can progress the ball and be the new pivot around which our attack hinges.

Wirtz has shown he can do both, it's a matter of building the team around him.

 30

13 Dec 2025 05:37:54
I would say until it's news then it's always going to be just a rumour TB2.

 3

13 Dec 2025 03:52:33
First heard of dressing room feuds and players refuing to pass to teammates. And whos pleading for new contracts?

12 Dec 2025 21:59:31
It read like a jane Austin novel that.

I liked the bit about Luis Duaz.

13 Dec 2025 09:59:00
The way I look at it, the likes of Hughes, Edwards, Slot etc should be judged on how they manage all the ups and downs. Not just be celebrated for bringing in successes and then lambasted for failures.

Grav is not a world class player he has the potential to become a world class player but he has a lot to learn and i don't mean that in disrespect. World class to me is Souness, Gerrard, Alonso they could do everything a modern midfielder needed to do.
I think Sboz will become word class to.
YNWA.

 2

13 Dec 2025 18:37:28
Szob isn’t far off world class, he’s consistently excellent. Of all of our players he’s the one to sign up to a new contract, not only is he a top player he’s also a good leader. I’d expect him to be captain when VVD eventually goes.

13 Dec 2025 20:20:23
"DICK"-Van-Dyke is 100 years old today and has played like it all season!

 0

14 Dec 2025 09:50:29
Grav of last season was excellent consistently, and with a few more seasons at that level would be considered closer to the top class bracket.

There’s been a few moments recently where he’s started to break the lines, and get his game back. A second half of the season back to that level, and a good season next time around could see him elevated to the top table.

There aren’t many world class midfielders around right now, none that I can think of in the Zidane, Pirlo, Xavi, and Iniesta type category. Best in the prem is probably Rice, and he’s not that level either. If Macca is getting in the Argentina team it shows you levels aren’t quite where they were, he’s good at his best but he isn’t all that.

Just reported on Sky that Mo is in the squad for tomorrow.

 3

12 Dec 2025 19:01:23
No Gakpo, possibly no Isak and Chiesa clearly slept with Slot's wife or ran over his cat or something, so there's not too many options.

At least we can't accuse Slot of being petty about it and insisting on leaving Salah out despite the above.

 12

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - lets hope this is not the end of it though SR, we need a public apology to the club, his team mates the manager and the supporters, a mandatory £800,000 fine (2 weeks wages) and a warning as to his future conduct..at least..

 35

12 Dec 2025 19:10:11
Now, question is, is this reconciliation or a send off.

Regardless, fingers crossed for a result on Saturday.

 7

12 Dec 2025 19:25:29
A public apology for his public outburst would have been nice. He will clearly have to start as there is no way he sits on the bench, and that worries me. Maybe he will be so full of fury that he bags a few, but if he is as flat as he has been for the past 20 games or so, then all our momentum will be lost, and we will lose - and there is no way he can be subbed.

And I can’t really see him risking injury right before Afcon. I would have liked to see him come back after that tournament, and after an apology - but not right now.
He has let the club, his manager, and teammates down, and his inclusion may well likely lose us the game just so we can bow the knee to him before he moves on.

 9

12 Dec 2025 19:39:29
This is win win if he starts. He plays like he had and it vindicates him being dropped. He bags a hat trick and even if he leaves, it's a great send off and we are likely to win. Personally, I think he'll spoon every attempt at controlling the ball and lose possession constantly and we'll all thank him with a love in at the end.

 3

12 Dec 2025 19:45:15
As a supporter of 45 years I don't need any public apology, I would accept a 100% on the field when Mo plays.

 23

12 Dec 2025 20:16:06
Private apology to behind closed doors is enough. Anyone with any sense can see that’s what’s happened, I just hope he means it!

 8

12 Dec 2025 21:31:34
Ecogsi, you are way wiser and more measured than me. I think you are right, and it’s the sensible way to draw some kind of line under this.

 3

12 Dec 2025 21:45:35
Wouldn’t be surprised if Salah gets brought on with 10 minutes to go, regardless of the score.

12 Dec 2025 23:05:10
Mostersouness- club has to come first. Slot and salah can’t make this about them. The only way out for the club was for salah to apologise behind closed doors and for slot the players and more importantly for slot accept it and move on. We’ll see what happens tomorrow bit I’m hoping slot swollen the embarrassment and salah when he enters the field reaches the standard expected, plays well, claps the kop and does no interviews.

He can talk about what’s gone on when he’s retired, he’s earned that ❤️.

 1

12 Dec 2025 23:10:28
Seems slot has a big ego himself.

13 Dec 2025 00:42:08
I hope Salah starts, he's got a point to prove and we'll see something special from him I think.

ED025, he'll need all that money for his flights home n Ibiza / Dubia holidays bfr the seasons ends.

Pure hatred for the Manager on this website with lot's of so called fans jumping on a bandwagon and wanting the Manager to fall on his face. As I said before, I thought the fans on this website were a bit different but obviously not. If we can start winning games then it could be a fairly successful transitional season especially in the Champions League since we just beat the finalist in 2/ 3 previous years in their own back yard.

Looking for a solid home performance today and then the momentum could really grow.

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - i must tell you WM the feeling in the city seems to be that there is not a lot of sympathy for Mo mate, Slot has come out of this very well in fact, not for his tactical acumen but certainly for how he has conducted himself..

 12

13 Dec 2025 09:29:32
Interesting insight Ed, AFCON has come at the right time I think, let the dust settle a bit and shift the focus back to the team.

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - yeah i think thats worked out well Ernie, the white noise has to stop now and we dont want any silly comments from people when they go away on international duty which has happened in the past mate..

 3

13 Dec 2025 09:41:28
Although the club may have been planning for Mo to go, and sounding out other clubs etc, Mo has been daft in going about things the way he did.

It’s another interesting day though, because if Mo plays a direct part in a win then the press may say it’s some sort of vindication of him, if he plays and we lose then the opposite could apply.

On a side note we’re being linked with a right back Palestra today. Although Connor plays well when fit I think it could be a good move to reinforce the right side.

 0

13 Dec 2025 09:59:20
Thats why i personally think he will be brought on if things are comfortable or if there is an injury Hugo, surely Slot has to stand by his reasoning for dropping him in the first place.

 2

13 Dec 2025 10:11:54
Ernest, Slot might start him in place of Isak.
Who knows, he may excel as a 2nd strker kind of role, 2nd spring of sort.

 3

13 Dec 2025 10:41:14
Maybe so, I hope Chiesa gets the nod. The lad has never once spat his dummy out and gives everything on the pitch.
We will know in a few hours.

13 Dec 2025 11:07:15
Ed025. most people are split 50 / 50 on the manager in the city . esp the people i talk to, everyone wants us to do well but some can't see it happening but some die hards think its too early for a change of manager . I agree with you think he got till new year to sort it .

As for Mo I think he was right in what he said but maybe not in public . sure there is enough media people to let out little stories anyway so his side would have been heard anyway.

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - i still think Mo was out of order Strom but of course thats just my opinion mate, but Liverpool supporters need to make their mind up on Hughes and Edwards though, they have been slated for throwing Mo under the bus but even if that is true aren,t they just doing whats best for LFC?, you complained when players left on a free and yet they may be making a business decision for the betterment of the club by selling Mo while they can get good money for him to reinvest in the squad?...just a thought..

 9

13 Dec 2025 11:53:28
You’re right Ed, particularly in the sense that dealing with some of these very wealthy and egotistical players is not easy. The general rules of business won’t apply in the same way for the player as it may for the club, and we do want to get a fee for him if he goes.

The idea that you can pay someone £400k a week for sitting on the bench is fantasy stuff, regardless of how great he’s been. That’s what’s got Man Utd into the mess they’re in.

It’s possibly too simple today to think they should be all communicating with each other, and acting like adults. Everything is being played out in public, even his lunch with Hendo, and it’s become more of a game than the football which is never a good thing.

 1

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - i agree Hugo..

13 Dec 2025 13:53:47
They signed Mo up on a big wage but he could have got triple that in Saudi. so they thought he was worth it or on the other hand they might have promised him things for him to sign . me being a bit cynical they could have well been protecting the club, like getting a transfer fee in a year, who knows eh .

as for the Spanish Judas he to me is like that other Spaniish Judas Macmanaman, no proper scouser would do that to their own club . but that's my personal opinion about him .

 1

13 Dec 2025 14:21:03
Thing is football fans up and down the country have been saying player power is ruining the game, no one is bigger than a club etc.

Isak behaved quite badly really to get out of Newcastle, although he claims a gentleman’s agreement wasn’t honoured. That hasn’t worked out well yet. Quite often it doesn’t, and it’s not a bad thing if there’s a shift back towards clubs holding a bit more power. We were also fed up with the way Trent gave the club the run around last year, and the way Konate is doing similar this year.

I don’t mind us taking a stand, and agreeing contracts but then selling a player. If Mo was on top form we wouldn’t sell him.

In this instance I didn’t like the idea of Mo being ostracised or forced out, but I was in agreement he should have been dropped. Let’s hope for a win, a cameo from Mo and a farewell wave as I think that’s what’s likely to happen here.
