The reliable Ben Jacobs now saying Liverpool will keep Arne Slot more and more saying Slot will stay. 🤔

13 May 2026 21:50:47
The same Ben Jacobs who said Newcastle were not selling Isak and Diaz was not being sold. Let's wait and see.

Don't pretend to be ITk but more common sense.

If, as said before, that Michael Edwards has stopped the leaks internally, then he must have played a blinder in putting out misinformation.

My take on it is this:

The start of the season especially after first 5 games was all hunky dory.

It quickly went wrong after that with poor performances and losses, Salah falling out saga etc.

Slot was told that his contract would not be renewed and this season would probably be his last.

Edwards & co. started to scout for replacements and sounding them out e.g. Fabregas at Como, Hughes previous connection to Iraola etc.

Alonso gets sacked at RM and he immediately becomes top of pecking order.

My belief is that Alonso has been told he will join in July 2026 once contract is signed but all must be kept hush hush and secret & confidential (is it a coincidence as has been reported that Alonso's coaching staff have been in touch with Wirtz & Frimpomg to gauge more info?).

Slot has iterated to the board that he wishes to return to the Netherlands as he cannot settle in Liverpool.

Meanwhile Edwards & co get wind of leaks to the media etc and so put out lots of misinformation especially in regards to Slot staying.

Stay calm folks.... The below is what has been planned most of this season as most of us know already:

Slot will resign by mutual consent after the last game and a week later Alonso will be announced as joining either on 1st June or 1st July.

Forget everything else, other managers, Slot staying etc. They are all red herrings. It is as simple as that.

13 May 2026 20:10:27
Kind of makes sense based on all the information at hand.

1

13 May 2026 20:19:58
I agree, SMB, not long to find out either way.

Don't forget Mo stating standards dropped too, not a good advert for Slot staying.

I cannot see (keep with me), the board not taking note, the fans now vocal with disapproval of the team, Slot, Tactics, style of football which is our brand.

It would, in my opinion, be a huge middle finger to the fans in the stands, also the world fans.

Slot will be gone.

3

13 May 2026 20:27:48
It's a bit untenable now for Slot. I just hope the lads win Friday night. We have 9 days before last game and it's all announced that he's leaving (doubt it as Mo will want the limelight and deservedly so), but I don't want Slot to go on bad terms now either.

He is a title winning manager regardless of his contributions, and he was the man in charge when we won it last season, so he deserves some sort of send off, but he has to go as he just isn't the man.

5

13 May 2026 20:28:24
Don't think so, but Ok. 🤷‍♂️

I'm told nothing has been decided yet and I believe it.

1

13 May 2026 20:37:53
Personally don't see Slot staying, I would guess that at the end of the season, a mutual agreement will be announced so Slot can save face and the club can maintain that they would have backed their manager and given him time and funds to turn things around citing these 'mitigating circumstances'.

Not convinced that Alonso is gonna be our replacement, I 100% believe the Spanish media and that Liverpool have recently made contact with Madrid hierarchy to understand what happened with Alonso and are essentially doing due diligence, however, I have a feeling this Chelsea business with Alonso is his camp getting anxious that perhaps Liverpool are exploring a number of options and that Alonso is perhaps not the shoe in for the position that fans appear to favour.

Given the World Cup this summer, we can all expect a speedy outcome following the close out of this season and if Slot is off we may even get that news before the last game of the season if Champions League has already been confirmed.

13 May 2026 20:38:04
And who told you Ron Hughes himself? No one really knows, it's all smoke and mirrors, David Cooperfiled giving directions to the board.

0

13 May 2026 20:51:07
It reminds me exactly of the Isak saga in the summer.
He's not leaving, then he might. Then he wasn't allowed.
Then they might have to sell, then they really put the foot down, then it was accepted he would go, then he did.
Journalists language was very interesting the whole summer.
My belief was that of course he'd join. How could Newcastle keep a player who wasn't going to play with them.
Similar is happening now to a degree, slightly different but we're seeing similar change of tune from reporters, an absolute ton of differing info.

I remember Carra said here in the summer, that it looked like Isak deal had fallen through (not slating btw, we love you, Carra, you legend.) Just making my point.
Above all else, it's just common sense.
It was obvious Newcastle couldn't keep Isak, and it's obvious now Slot leaves. The man is doing part time hours being paid full time.

1

13 May 2026 20:54:20
Been saying this for a while now, but people panicking because paid off journos say otherwise.

Ornstein and Sky were reporting we are absolutely not sign Wirtz, few days later we did.

1

13 May 2026 20:57:44
Who is Ron Hughes?

1

13 May 2026 20:59:55
Surely Ron, the club would need to know what direction we heading in as regards the management, like it's mid May. Either we sticking with the manager, r plans would need to be in place to bring in a new set up. I can't believe no decision has been made.

1

13 May 2026 21:17:24
Ron, Hughes himself.

0

13 May 2026 21:19:13
Ron Hughes is the alter ego of Hugh Rones, the mega agent who deals in transfers of Spanish managers to Liverpool.

Much like Ron Keague used to have some lucky pants in the 13-14 season. 😉

Sorry for outing you Ron. 😂

0

13 May 2026 21:28:36
RTS: It was a club director, seeing as you ask.

0

13 May 2026 21:40:11
He deserves his plaudits for securing number 20. After that he deserves nothing, only to go. He'll not be missed.

0

13 May 2026 21:58:42
Forgetting if he gets the boot, I don't get why he would want to stay when it clearly looks like he can't be arsed.

0

13 May 2026 17:43:58
I have a classic rumour here. Good fiend of mine, who is a Spurs fan, recently did a golf day with a few recent ex Liverpool players. They went heavy on the 19th hole and he got chatting.

Alonso was very much in the frame a few months ago. The noise around the style of play this season has made them u-turn. Alonso's style is very slow build up with heavy stale possession. There is a belief that if Slot gets the wingers he wants, his style of play will be more suited to Anfield than Alonso's will be.

After Alonso the manager pool is slim pickings with huge gambles on people who have never done PL and CL. They think he's staying for another year and the club will give him the pacy wingers his style needs to succeed, then it's curtains for him.

2

13 May 2026 18:08:37
It might be slow build up, but slots football is diabolical. Sideways footy at its most boring.

17

13 May 2026 18:25:06
Pacey wingers aren't the best all and end all. Gakpo is quick, Rio is quick, we have one of the fastest players in the world in Frimpong for Christ's sake. It won't change anything. Slot needs to go.

16

13 May 2026 18:25:30
Alonso's style of football can not ever be as s**** as what Slot is putting out week in week out. Don't believe any ex players would say so either.

9

13 May 2026 18:28:42
You suggesting that Alonso style of football is slower than Slot the Snails football?

5

13 May 2026 18:31:40
He has pacey wingers... he doesn't use them...
Chiesa does not get any minutes... Gakpo has pace (granted not super fast)... he doesn't utilise it... Rio gets few minutes... Frimlong has lightning speed...

tactics don't suit him either...

At the end of the day he has been a monumental disaster this season. In no way should a new contract be offered, and indeed it should be terminated.

8

13 May 2026 18:36:03
Yeah, because pacy wingers are going to fix that gaping hole in midfield.

4

13 May 2026 18:36:54
You could put Prime Messi and Ronaldo on either wing, it wouldn't make a difference with Slot at the helm.

7

13 May 2026 18:43:25
Of course VV, because they are paced... they can get back quickly to defend...

Then, when they win the ball back, because the midfielders are high up the field, we can then counter, and the pace wingers can then attack....

1

13 May 2026 19:16:34
To be fair to Ward and Edwards, once Klopp took control of signings we were in trouble. Gakpo and Darwin were Slot signings.

We had under Edwards the signings that transformed the club. I don't get the hatred for this guy.

2

13 May 2026 19:23:15
Keita was seen as a real talent, but ultimately flopped as seen in his career after he left. Nunez was on fire for Benfica, and no wonder we went for him over Isak. Gakpo also was doing amazing for club and country before we signed him, and had a great season last year.

Sometimes, players come in and the magnitude of the club and pressure they cannot handle and don't perform.

2

13 May 2026 19:31:25
Huge typo there. Gakpo and Darwin were Klopp signings.

0

13 May 2026 19:47:25
Slot isn't going anywhere.

0

13 May 2026 20:06:43
I do love these types of rumours, but personally, I trust the info from Carra, Thefields, Robbo, and Vgd. All have been pretty reliable.

0

13 May 2026 20:35:47
Sacking Slot is the only answer. But I can see us sticking with him and this insipid form carrying on as he has no answers to any of the issues.

He is going to persist with this stupid tactic of pushing the midfielders forward and leaving midfield virtually empty. He'll continue to have no answer to low blocks, counter attacks, long balls, crosses, set pieces, long shots, runners from midfield, physicality, wind and every other excuse he's trotted out until it unravels in October or November.

He will be eventually sacked after the start of the new season and the pool of quality talented managers available (available is the key word here) will be so shallow it will be almost nonexistent.

It will be more than another season wasted as there'll be no top quality managers available in October or November next year, there'll be no Klopp to bail us out this time around, so we'll be settling for more dross.

0

13 May 2026 20:43:13
You can have the 3 fastest forwards in the world, but when your midfield has been told to pass the ball slowly sideways or backward rather than getting the ball to the forwards, what is the point? They will be really fast pacy wingers who still don't get the ball unless they drop deep, and receive the ball with 11 opposition players in position to defend.

1

13 May 2026 15:32:17
Morning all, first post.

9 will be leaving in the summer (first team).

VVD has asked to leave the club after CL exit to PSG.

Thanks.

8

13 May 2026 16:29:47
If true, I'd imagine Allison is on his way aswell too.

3

13 May 2026 16:29:51
Source, and can you name them all?

1

13 May 2026 16:46:51
If I'm guessing:
Alisson, VvD, Konate(?), Gomez, Robertson, Mac Allister, Endo, Gakpo(?), Chiesa, Salah?

Would seem like a wild swing, but I wouldn't be surprised at this point.

4

13 May 2026 16:49:10
So, according to some ITKs, it's VVD who is backing the bald one, so why tf would he ask to leave now when his man is in charge?

0

13 May 2026 16:50:38
Slot remains, shame everyone else wants to go. Is there a connection?

1

13 May 2026 16:52:54
Imagine if all those on the list went but Konate was the only one who stayed. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if that were to happen.

1

13 May 2026 16:58:30
Sorry, I must have slept since then, but didn't we lose to PSG a month ago? VVD as fast with his admin as he is on the field of play. Must be all the midweek mini breaks getting in the way. 🤔

3

13 May 2026 18:26:24
He better take Konate with him.

0

13 May 2026 15:04:11
Sorry, no updates on my end, my source has been on a few international trips and we haven’t had a chance to meet up at the course recently.

Let’s have some old fashioned discussion - if you were in the transfer market for the club this summer, who would you sign? Let’s keep it player wise - but feel free to put a head coach/style of play in too.

Diddly out.

7

13 May 2026 15:42:16
Great gear change...

Levi Colwill
Daniel Munoz
Mattheus Fernandes
Anthony Gordon
Yan Diomande

For Xabi Alonso's formation ;).

5

13 May 2026 15:44:16
Elliot Anderson is the piece for me. Has the engine, and I see him as the Hendo replacement.

Apart from that, I'd take any of the pacey wingers we have been linked with to get back to playing the exciting way we did for the previous 9 years.

8

13 May 2026 15:46:51
Me.

Bowen (price dependant)
Diomande or Barcola

Senesi (free)
Wharton
Grey
Gertruda (spelling), just to cover multiple.

2

13 May 2026 15:49:51
Marcos Senesi (if Konate leaves)
Pedro Porro
Mamadou Sangare
Mateus Fernandes
Yan Diomande
Jarrod Bowen.

2

13 May 2026 15:53:42
I like the idea of Bowen as a stop gap, we are kind of heading to his level and will soon be bottom half.

I would like legs in midfield. I like the wee guy at Wolves, think he is Portuguese or Brazilian, but I can't remember his name.

I like the right back for Brighton as well, but I can't remember his name either. Flip me, I haven't really thought this through. lol.

3

13 May 2026 16:01:27
Wharton
Joao Gomez
Diomande / Gordon
Summerville
Geertruida / Dumfries
Also, feel we're defo gonna need some kind of temporary striker cover at least until Hugo is back.

2

13 May 2026 16:02:44
Anderson
Diomande
Barcola
Nunez back on a free.

Alonso or Enrique.

6

13 May 2026 16:08:27
I really want Elliott Anderson, but just don't think we are in the running.

I'd keep Alisson, Jones and Gomez.
If Konate goes, I would replace him, but I suspect he stays.

So to keep it reasonable.

I think Geertruida, Sangare and Toure would be somewhat reasonably priced, but quality options.

I'd go a decent amount on Diomande as the big signing. Not 100 million euro. More like 80 million euro mark. 75 million pound.

3

13 May 2026 16:13:33
Stiller.
Summerville.
Diomande.
Baleba.

Elliot back in squad.

Out:
Chiesa.
Salah.
Robbo.

3

13 May 2026 16:17:50
Kvaratskhelia

I think he's the best player on the planet.

11

13 May 2026 16:27:32
Guirassy
Diomande
Ruben Neves
Robin Risser.

1

13 May 2026 16:27:50
Old school FM post:

I would look at.
If Ali went, replacing with Verbruggen.
Givairo Read (RB).
Wharton & Fernandes replacing Macca & Jones.
Barcola & Diomande.

I do like Kroupi, but don't think we need a new CF, and maybe someone like Lukeba to work with VVD a year, but who could also slot into LB if needed.

I would bring Elliot back as well.

And I would take anyone other than Slot at the moment, would be over the moon with Xabi.

1

13 May 2026 16:31:26
Mine would be.
RB Kayoude.
LB Hall.
DM Sangare.
RW Diomande.
LW Toure.
I would say another CB for Konate, but he looks like he’s staying. 😩

2

13 May 2026 16:55:45
Anderson
Stiller
I'll take Darwin back on a free.

2

13 May 2026 16:57:01
Anderson/Caiceido/Aurelien Tchouameni
Kvaratskhelia/Olise/
Daniel Munoz.

0

13 May 2026 16:59:48
Never mind all that. Which golf course, Ned? Let's cut to the important stuff. ⛳️

2

13 May 2026 17:07:32
Mine would be.

Anderson
Kayoide
Diomande
Bastoni
Yildiz.

0

13 May 2026 17:07:56
Trent. Wharton. Alex Scott. Darwin on a free. No idea re wingers, but we need two.

3

13 May 2026 17:33:42
Sell/let go (total FM)
Marma
Konate
Mac Allister
Jones
Gakpo
Frimpong

In.
Best rated young GK
Bastoni
Anderson
Sidike
Kvardona
Olise
Right back (best rated in game!)

Employ a 4 2 3 1.

0

13 May 2026 17:40:29
Yeah, I'd love to get Trent back. 100,000,000 times better than what we have.

1

13 May 2026 17:47:58
2 in the middle.
1 with a bit of bite in the tackle.
1 that can pass it forward, possibly Wharton.
Like the look of Rayan & Kroupi but Diomande and Barcola would also be decent.
New RB needed, someone that can actually defend.

0

13 May 2026 17:54:38
What do you folks think of Scott at Bournemouth?

1

13 May 2026 18:21:30
Kodai Sano - 21m
Alvaro Rodriguez - 12.5m
Yan Diomande - 75m
Rayan - 65m
Adam Wharton - 85m
Pedro Porro - 17m.

0

13 May 2026 18:58:27
Kraveteshvila.
Vitinha.
Baleba (or similar).
Decent centre back.

0

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - i hope you dont get that guy from PSG BD, his name is an editors nightmare like that Hungarian fella you have got mate.. :)

0

13 May 2026 19:33:21
Definitely Elliot Anderson should be prime target IMO.

1

13 May 2026 20:07:09
Over the last week alone we have been linked with the following defenders.

Marco Senesi
Jan Paul Van Hecke
Oscar Mingueza
Denzel Dumfries
Zeki Celik
Pierre Kalulu
Emil Holm
Marco Palestra
Sascha Britschgi
Sam Beukema
David Raum
Daniel Svensson
Andrea Cambiaso
Lutsharel Geertruida
Michael Kayode
Maxence Lacroix

Personally I'd only take Kayode from that bunch and go get Nathaniel Brown for left back and Nico Schlotterbeck for left sided centre back.

I've also heard a little whisper we are very keen on James Hill at Bournemouth.

0

13 May 2026 20:21:37
I think we're OK at CB with Jacquet arriving and Leoni coming back, so long as we keep Gomez.

I'd love Kayode to come in at RB. I think LB should be OK with Kerkez and Tsimi.

Ideally Macca would make way for Elliot Anderson in midfield.

I would keep Jones personally, but if he were to be replaced, we could do a lot worse than Kees Smit imo.

Upfront I'd want Diomande and Barcola. YLFM is intriguing. If we can convince someone to buy Gakpo for a decent price, I'd like to see 3 wingers arrive.

I refuse to list a goalkeeper as I'm not willing to confront the possibility that Alisson may go as well.

1

13 May 2026 20:40:31
Jeez there's some dross in this thread, Summerville? Bowen? Senesi? Gordon? It's like a Bodgers wishlist. As for Arnold, why waste valuable transfer funds on that rat.

2

13 May 2026 21:11:04
Boaddi and Diomande. Play grav deeper and give the youngsters (Rio, Nyoni, Leoni, Jascquet) a chance to show what they have.

0

13 May 2026 21:16:38
Is Ekitike dross then, almost identical goals (17 in 45/46) to games this season as Anthony Gordon, who spends most of his time out wide?

0

13 May 2026 14:58:50
Arne Slot has asked Liverpool’s hierarchy for clarity over a new contract and the terms it would involve.

The head coach is understood to feel it will be difficult to push through plans to sign new players this summer without greater certainty over his own long-term future at the club.

The hierarchy have held back on talks for a new deal since November and have doubts on giving the Dutchman a new deal.

He believes he can win the Premier League for a second time if he gets the chance.

2

13 May 2026 15:40:39
I was waiting for an ITK to come out with this after my post.... and boom like clockwork.

8

13 May 2026 15:44:09
"He believes he can win the Premier League for a second time if he gets the chance."

And I believe I can end up with Emma Watson if I bump into her during my next weekly shop. Absolute joker.

7

13 May 2026 16:06:18
Slot is gone.

Either way, the club is doing a crap job of stopping leaks because there's an ITK posting something different on here regarding the situation ten times a day.

5

13 May 2026 16:11:55
I believe I can touch the sky.

On players.
Sadiki or West Ham's Fernandez.
Bowen would be a great signing.
Defo need a right back who can get up and down, but they are few and far between.

I think we need to focus on midfield more than anything.

1

13 May 2026 16:06:42
Because Racey is making sh*t up

5

13 May 2026 16:32:02
Come on now, Klopp, none of the ITK's make stuff up.

3

13 May 2026 16:43:35
Florian, you're right, all the ITKs are ITK, that's why they are called ITKs, right? I'm glad we are both now ITK.

2

13 May 2026 16:49:05
Senesi, Porro, Anderson, Bowen, Gordon.

0

13 May 2026 16:55:43
Slot doesn't sign players so no need for him to worry about having to "push through plans to sign new players".

2

13 May 2026 17:37:50
Didn't he not have a chance to win the PL this year?
Was he not in charge this year? Seems strange to say...

Held back on a new deal as he has completely messed up systems, players and fans.

I heard they asked what have you done well this season, Arne?... The stat computer is trying to put an XG from air miles!

1

13 May 2026 17:49:14
Throw enough 💩 and some may stick.

3

13 May 2026 17:51:51
@kloppofthenortheast I don't make s*** up. I just post what I get sent by people & plus I've never once said I'm ITK.

1

13 May 2026 18:44:46
Racey, you post sh*t mate, and if your actually told this and believe it then . You may need some help.

Cheers

RTSM

Isn't this a rumours site!?
It wouldn't be up to much if people didn't post rumors.

0

13 May 2026 20:39:00
@ Rtsm, the only thing I believe is that Carra Thefields Vgd are right & that Slot will be gone. I'm like other people on here who post stuff when I get sent it or if I hear it, that doesn't mean I believe everything I post. This is a rumours site & that's all it is..... is Rumours.

1

13 May 2026 14:49:37
My question is this: if Slot is staying and being given the chance to "rectify" the wrongs of this season.

Why has not one journalist / mouthpiece of the club said anything about Slot getting a contract extension, or being in negotiation for one?

He is in the final year of his contract.

Surely if they had all this belief in him and wanted him to stay, that would be the priority. Instead we are getting the narrative that the "back Slot" but there is no contract extension to show they are backing him.....

7

13 May 2026 16:09:57
What I want to know is why there is literally so much stuff being put out that all seems like lies? I have a completely new opinion of content creators on YouTube. I don’t even think they check what they say from day to day and just make content for the sake of it. It’s a crazy world we live in, and media / social media is a big part of it. I took myself off Twitter and all other socials about 10 years ago because it was just toxic and not good for the auld brain. But I do dip in an out of YouTube, and the stuff on there is just nonsense.

One minute he is staying, next minute it is a secret plan by Edwards in his Lair in Bournemouth and he is telling all the fans lies because he secretly hates them all. It’s all utter nonsense, and I am just of the opinion now, let’s just see what happens.
It is quite possible that they like Slot, get on well with him, and are reluctant to fire him because of this and last year's success. I don’t agree with this but it seems more plausible than all of the other conspiracies.

0

13 May 2026 16:44:31
It's all just nonsense and shows how big a joke LFC are becoming. We are Man Utd 2.0.

2

13 May 2026 16:54:21
Something the old media / newspapers used to do, everyday run a conflicting view of the same article via a different journalist, then when the story comes to fruition, they can go over the back catalogue, pick out the correct one and say 'we were the first to yell you!'

3

13 May 2026 17:44:35
Very true, Hoof it. I think people are just throwing a lot of eventualities up in the air and seeing which one lands the right way around. Then they can say, I told you so. I really don't know why? But must make them feel good.

I think there are a number of Evertonian and United fans on this website, just sending us all rage bait to send us further down the spiral.

1

13 May 2026 20:42:59
Slot has had all season to fix things but instead of fixing them, they've just got worse. This is exactly how it ended with Rodgers.

13 May 2026 12:06:37
Morning all,

A few updates, player side first:

The French Revolution (part 2) is in full swing. Jacquet joining Konate and Ekitike, will be followed by the likely signing of Monaco Winger Maghnes Akliouche. If you haven’t seen him, I urge you to watch a Monaco game (not just YT clips). Failing this, Liverpool are also considering Barcola, however view the young Akliouche as a more affordable option, with higher ceiling expected. Olise also unlikely due to the sizeable fee, meaning less money for other positions.

Keeping on the French trend, Tchouameni’s agent has been in touch with the club, since the spat at the Training Ground. This is unlikely to happen, but the club are considering all options. This one is certainly player led rather than club led.

Management side, there is discontent at board level, as others have stated, but the likely stance, as I have been advised (and shared on here), that Slot is still backed.

He will be given the summer with the new squad and view that he has to make vast improvements prior to Christmas.

FSG are expecting a heavy outlay again, due to smart financial planning, which means we could see another sizeable transfer spend this summer. Albeit with less sales.

Finally, full-backs. Tsimikas is seriously being considered as back-up to Kerkez, mainly due to him age, availability (lack of injuries), relationships within the playing staff and that his salary is lower than a lot of others. Making is a wise decision to keep him, rather than going back into the market.

Expect a RB signing in some form, with serious consideration being taken on this problem position.

All the best.

Even if they back Slot with more shiney new players in the market, we'll still be terrible with his half arsed approach to games, training, fitness, etc.

Akliouche is a superb player. Isn't he older than Barcola though? I remember he was pushing 25 this year.

Tchouameni can p*** off, hasn't he rejected Liverpool twice in the past already?

Don't believe a word of it. He will be gone

If we waste more money and another year with Slot and it doesn't work (and there's no evidence to suggest it will), Edwards & Co get to just shrug their shoulders and walk away, putting the club back by about 10 years, and all because of their silly ego and power grabs.
It should be illegal to allow the rot to continue as is.

Sincerely hope the Eds are keeping receipts and going to mark the dozen or so ITKs out of 10 when their predictions are proven true or false.

If Slot is backed, then all summer transfers will not matter at all, just same s*** happening again.

13 May 2026 13:32:26
Slot will just untrain the fitness out of any new signings, absolute madness to keep him and expect anything else.

13 May 2026 13:35:27
PatrikBurgher, he is indeed a year older, I never said he was older, just referred to him as a young player, which at 24 he is still considered to be, with a high ceiling.

Thanks for replying, and I feel the same about the other French CM!!

The only way things will improve under Slot is if this "periodisation" nonsense and Ruben Peeters are ejected, and the training intensity increases. Slot can still head home if he really has to: he has staff.

Stranger things have happened in football, but personally I don't see it.

So the club is aware we're going to have to spend big this summer with a manager in charge who's likely incapable of turning things around, and that if he's not replaced now, then all our potential managerial targets will be unavailable when everything does go tits up.

Makes about as much sense as wiping your arse with your elbow.

13 May 2026 13:57:28
I'm sticking with the ITKs that IK.

13 May 2026 14:00:10
Jesus, another ITK! Edwards, get these leaks plugged!

13 May 2026 14:20:06
Patrik, as did Alonso but you still want him.

The Lid: When did those two rejections occur?

1

13 May 2026 14:36:25
He rejected Liverpool to continue working at Leverkusen having just won the title with them. Not quite the same thing.

13 May 2026 14:48:30
Maybe I'm coping, but I'll choose to believe the ITKs that say Brendjen is gone. Belief is free, so I might as well not torture myself with the thought of a coach who can't beat an unlicensed PE dude.

We are well and truly f***ed. 🤣
Arne is here to stay, aside the bad football. He's just too arrogant, and I don't usually complain about people, but his stubbornness and willingness to take no prisoners, including the club's image when it comes to defending himself, makes me dislike him. I wish he would just leave, but he's too arrogant to do so.

I mean, let's remove the sentimental goggles and see things as they are. He's stubborn and will want to prove his first season wasn't a fluke.
That being said, I feel a Wharton and a Tchouameni/Lamine Camara type of player in our midfield instantly makes us better, even with Arne at the wheels.

If you keep doing the same things, you get the same results. We all know this. I really, really, really hope the owners and decision makers do also.

Akliouche isn't the quickest around and is more of a number 10 than a winger. Not exactly going to inject pace into the team.

Pretty arrogant and naive of Hughes + Edwards to expect Alonso to put his career on hold so LFC can attempt to save face!

LFC offered Xabi an incentive to hold fire on his next job in March but Liverpool have been indecisive since according to Chris Williams. Chris is journalist who posts mostly about German football but is a LFC supporter.

This isn’t ITK. He posted it on Twitter earlier.

With Cara’s update hopefully egos are being left at the door for the best of LFC but with Hughes and Edwards in tandem it is difficult to speak with confidence or certainty at this stage!

12 May 2026 22:49:41
What "incentive" could they offer?
A pan of Scouse?

This is totally illogical speculation.

Chris Williams is talking BS there.

8

13 May 2026 00:58:49
No, Ron, Chris is saying we told Alonso to take a job till the summer and offered an incentive to do so. Which would indicate we may have a job for him.

4

13 May 2026 02:14:14
The "incentive" here is literally the promise of a job come June, but it's a poor word choice, it does make it sound like you're training a dog to give the paw.

5

13 May 2026 07:08:50
This is nonsense!! It makes no sense at all.

2

13 May 2026 08:29:42
FWIW, Chris is one of the best connected people when it comes to German footy specifically, so if he has been told that I would assume it carries weight. He also rarely ever bulls***s or says anything for clicks.

Ken.

Let's be honest here, Edwards lost his personal battle with Klopp, because the fans backed Jurgen. Does he really want another manager/coach that the fans will get behind over transfers.
We don't know what the email to Real Madrid was all about, but we can guess it would be about Alonso falling out with Vini Junior.

1

13 May 2026 10:11:15
So they don't want to sack someone because they would look a bit silly and they also don't want to go down the road of hiring someone the fans like because they don't need that? I totally get everyone's want for the likes of Xabi but this is where it does get a bit silly for me.

4

13 May 2026 12:03:05
When you use words like "silly" to undermine the gravity of the situation, it's easy to make it look unbelievable, Florian. The club didn't fire Slot because he had incredible credit in the bank. The only alternative was Gerrard, and yes, the possibility of Gerrard bringing the bounce and the fans demanding he get the role full time was absolutely a factor in the club's decision-making.

Similarly, with Xabi, he would absolutely gain fan favour over Edwards, almost immediately, making any possible future stand-off extremely difficult for him to win, especially if Xabi improves things, just like with the Klopp situation.

We know Edwards is overly controlling, we know he's not going to be happy to loosen the reins. If Xabi comes in, is successful, gets the fans behind him and down the line, ends up butting heads with Edwards, there's only one coming out on top. Edwards knows that.

Football is driven by egos; egos are concerned with power and image, and they clash on a regular basis. Call it silly all you want, but that's the way it is.

Ok Chewy, Don't agree with ye but ok.

13 May 2026 13:09:02
I thought Hughes was supposed to be in charge of transfers and not Edwards? So basically you guys are saying Edwards and Hughes would rather we lose and fail to win the big prizes while the club gets devalued, rather than lose authority to a popular coach?

I get that a lot of us want Xabi to be the coach moving forward, but one cryptic comment by Carra about Edwards being the sticking point and him needing to swallow his pride has folks on the board calling him a narcissistic egomaniac obsessed with power and he needs to get out the way before he takes the club down etc., and then we have you saying stuff like 'we all know' that Edwards is xyz, actually I don't know anything besides what has been hinted at by ed001 over the years, which doesn't paint a vivid picture of Edwards character other than he might be out of his depth in the rather nebulous position that he presently occupies.

There's so much dissatisfaction with Hughes, Edwards and Slot that it's branched out into psychotherapy and psychopathology and commentary on the political intrigues of Liverpool FC.

4

13 May 2026 15:03:44
Florian, 99% of what you've spouted this season has been silly and you're still not stopping.

Good man, Frode! Keep the insightful opinions coming. 😆
