Does seem complete rubbish but seen some places like the echo reporting that we are monitoring pulisic?

jordz

{Ed002's Note - What does "monitoring" mean?

1.) 12 Mar 2021 19:00:03
They put one of them ankle bracelets on so he doesn't leave the country.

27 Jul 2020 08:24:49
Seen German outlets like the Bild linking lfc with the CB at Schalke Kabak. Is there truth to this Ed's?

jordz

{Ed002's Note - I don't know - I will try and find out later. Obviously not first choice for Klopp.}

1.) 27 Jul 2020 11:10:09
I actually typed his name and i can see you responded two years ago about him on this page. You mention he is a good CB and host of clubs were interested the likes of man city and united.
I know Diego Carlos was first priority, I wonder if he is the clubs second alternative due to C.V.?

{Ed002's Note - I think Llorente would be second choice as I say. Never being HG is a big deal as the rules will tighten. That is why clubs will continue to look at the likes of Ben White, Dael Fry and Ben Godfrey. If Liverpool simply want to replace Lovren then Nat Phillips should be considered - he is well thought of in Germany.}

2.) 27 Jul 2020 11:31:24
I’d like to see Phillips given a chance to impress in training at least, we don’t know how long we may struggle for income and as a 4th choice player who would cost us nothing would be great.

Our annual wage bill is HUGE, and if we can lose some of the higher earners who don’t play as much with young talent internally that would be a big bonus.

3.) 27 Jul 2020 11:36:59
Does being English on its own count as being homegrown? For example, Jonathan Panzo; a young, English, LB and CB, really well thought of but playing in Belgium this year on loan from Monaco. I believe he came through at Chelsea so would he count as homegrown?

He's spent a few of his developing years outside of the country. This is just an example, I know you've not mentioned him. Although if we've been looking at those three then I think we could've and probably should've looked at Panzo.

{Ed002's Note - Nationality is not relevant, the player needs to spend three years bwteen 16 and 21 playing for clubs in the same Football Association - so England and Wales. Panzo could yet become Home Grown in England if he moved back this summer, or even next. But there is no intention to do that and he was at Monaco's feeder club to gain experienced and returned to Monaco with the othe half dozen players they had on loan there. Liverpool has shown no interest.}

4.) 27 Jul 2020 12:14:54
Thanks Ed. Interesting and with some top talent deciding to uproot and get game time in other countries at the start of their careers now this could force clubs to start listening to their demands, especially the big clubs who want to fill their homegrown quota with the best of the homegrown talent.

{Ed002's Note - Right, and keep in mid that it more a case of when not if the quota will change in the PL.}

5.) 27 Jul 2020 12:08:16
I see this Kabak kid recieved the "rookie of the year"prize in his 1st season in Germany beating Sancho among others to it. must be very highly rated.

6.) 27 Jul 2020 12:32:46
Good to know that Nat Phillips is getting good reviews in Germany. It will only enhance his stock with the coaching staff should we not sign a CB and just fast-track him into the first team.

7.) 27 Jul 2020 12:28:17
So ed just hypothetically, if we loaned out Elliot for 3 years now until he’s 21 aboard - is he no longer considered home grown? Or as the parent club, does it still count?

{Ed002's Note - He would not be registered with Liverpool so it doesn't count.}

8.) 27 Jul 2020 13:20:25
ed002 I can't see how Nat Phillips could be any worse than Lovren at 31 still seems to make the same mistakes every time he plays. what a dream pair Lovren and Luiz would be.

9.) 27 Jul 2020 13:26:39
ed002 if his loans are in England would he be ok.

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

10.) 27 Jul 2020 17:23:25
Thoughts on sepp van de berg Or hoever stepping up as cover with matip and gomez playing with VVD?

11.) 28 Jul 2020 00:43:42
The Fat Kid says we're close to agreeing a deal. So that obviously means that we're not interested in reality.

12.) 28 Jul 2020 01:25:46
sepp van de berg looks shaky to say the least, therefore I personally haven’t been impressed so far. Hoever to me looks like he could be class but maybe needs a bit more time or even a loan to help him kick on. I like the way he can play RB as well, he looks like he could be a real gem.

13.) 28 Jul 2020 11:47:37
Red8 - with these kids it's never a maybe lol they always need time and opportunities!

07 Aug 2019 15:41:33
Have any of the Ed's heard about any interest in shaq? Read a report saying Monaco are interested. Just wondered as I don't think he's been mentioned on the potential outs list.

jordz

{Ed001's Note - there has been a few inquiries during the summer. Shaqiri has said he wants to stay and fight for his place, so I don't think he will be going anywhere with the difficulty in signing a replacement.}

1.) 07 Aug 2019 16:22:44
Better to have someone who wants to fight for his place. Hopefully we can see early 18/ 19 season Shaq again.

2.) 07 Aug 2019 16:28:31
I would personally drive the lad their . I get the fact it’s hard to sign a replacement with such little time but surely their is an option outbtheir for us now unless klopp is being klopp again and quite clearly sees only certain players arriving . I felt the laziness crept in to his game towards the end
Of the season again . Hopefully if he stays he proves me wrong.

{Ed001's Note - actually at the end of the season he picked up his workrate after a dip midseason.}

3.) 07 Aug 2019 18:28:45
One of the better players when he got the chance.

4.) 07 Aug 2019 18:40:30
If they wanted him, they should have acted sooner. No doubt we'd have let him go for the right price and replaced him, but it's too late for us to do that properly now, so it's likely a non-starter.

5.) 08 Aug 2019 10:35:15
Sell him next summer for me if Wilson has shown enough at Bournemouth, ready made replacement.

6.) 12 Aug 2019 00:05:35
Personally think Shaq has a lot to offer if given the chance.

05 Jul 2019 19:22:56
So the Lille president has said to RMC sport that there has been discussions between lfc and Pepe reps. Seems a strange one as Ed002 has said that Pepe will leave this summer and don't see him getting in our first team.

Is there any reason for the president to make such a statement? Is he just trying to drum up some interest?

jordz

{Ed002's Note - He doesn't need to drum up interest. Nicolas Pepe (RW) three sides are in discussions with Lille and they have had two firm offers from one side and a tentative verbal offer from another. Liverpool has not spoken with Lille and have not submitted an offer if they did it would most likely be as a Salah replacement I would still not hold your breath.}

1.) 05 Jul 2019 20:19:05
Thanks for clarifying Ed.

Not too fussed about him tbh would rather Salah stay for a further year. Just wondered with the reports in France saying there president had said we had talked to Pepe. Obviously rubbish, probably miss quoted. Thanks again.

{Ed002's Note - I very much doubt Liverpool has talked directly with the player - but they have, as have many sides, spoken with his agent. Other sides have moved on to talk with Lille.}

2.) 05 Jul 2019 21:05:07
So we have spoken with his agent Ed to confirm a certain level of interest to the player. Can I ask please typically how and what might be said when agents are involved? Would it be a case if we have interest in your client. Would he be interested. What are his demands, and in this instance would he be available next year if or when Salah moves on?

Just not sure I fully understand us speaking to his agent if we are not looking at signing him this summer, also knowing that our chance will more than likely be gone as he will move elsewhere?

{Ed002's Note - Clubs and agents talk all of the time. Players are offered, clubs make enquiries - it is simply business as usual.}

3.) 05 Jul 2019 21:12:00
Thanks for the clarification. Hope you have a good weekend.

{Ed002's Note - And you - have a blast.}

4.) 05 Jul 2019 21:15:01
Ed02, it gives me joy when you're in this sort of mood. Your info is highly appreciated. Do have a lovely weekend.

{Ed002's Note - And you - keep it geasy.}

5.) 05 Jul 2019 21:17:53
Thanks Ed002.

6.) 05 Jul 2019 21:17:55
Ok Ed thanks for all your efforts as usual and replys to lots of questions today.

Enjoy your evening.

7.) 05 Jul 2019 22:22:47
Are there any Salah developments. We know his agent has been approaching clubs but have any of these approaches progressed any further?

8.) 06 Jul 2019 08:52:31
I don't think Salah will go this summer hence, the Pepe deal won't happen. Like a poster said earlier, I'd rather keep Salah for this season and should he go next season, we will have a whole season to find suitable replacement even tho I'm pretty sure they have been working on his replacement.

09 Jan 2019 23:22:27
Hey Ed's,

Noticed a poster on West Ham rumours IRONMIKE sometimes has decent / fairly reliable info on transfer. He's saying Liverpool have bid 65mil for Tarkowski I mean I really hope he's wrong on that one. Crazy fee.

Any Ed's bearing anything regarding that?

jordz

{Ed002's Note - No, of course not.}

1.) 10 Jan 2019 06:44:14
£65m for Tarkowski would be absolute madness. He’s barely a footballer. Championship standard player with one good season in his career.

2.) 10 Jan 2019 08:34:13
I haven't seen the lad play enough to have an opinion really, the few games I have seen, I've not been impressed one bit but Ed1 did a profile on him back in June, I'll trust his opinion on him and hope we stay well clear.

3.) 10 Jan 2019 09:49:09
Its all good guys i think he just forgot a decimal point.

4.) 10 Jan 2019 10:41:58
.65mil then?

5.) 10 Jan 2019 13:21:40
He may be avergae, but would an avergae youngish cb not be better than two who can’t play more than 5 games In a row. We’ve said even Matip and Lovren can look good next to Van Dijk!

6.) 10 Jan 2019 13:29:54
Nice one mk lol.

7.) 10 Jan 2019 14:43:26
I have never commented on a transfer rumour on this site before but if you give any credence to the nonsensical link to Tarkowski, totally fabricated by the worthless rag of a tabloid which we all despise and picked up by other lazy media outlets, then I suggest you seek urgent medical attention.

8.) 10 Jan 2019 23:38:19
Personally don't think he's good enough and I would worry if we spent that amount on him.

9.) 12 Jan 2019 11:39:53
VVD type money for Tarkowski, OP? You need to drop that WH poster as a decent source, mate cos clearly he is pulling your leg. I would not pay 6 pounds 5 pence for that poor, shambles of a footballer.

Understand if it's not a subject you want to bring up Ed's but what is the plans with this proposed European super league? Is it to replace the champions league? Seen the premier league have already come out strong against it is there anything stopping teams legally from signing up to this type or any other new proposed competition?

jordz

{Ed002's Note - I have explained that there have been numerous options discussed and have explained the ramifications and this is just another option that is on the table for now. Nothing will happen over night and there are huge legal issues that would need to be addressed. There will be a push by some clubs to make the Champions League a closed shop to some extent and this will be used to leveerage they situation with UEFA.}

1.) 18 Apr 2021 17:00:09
Thanks Ed. A closed shop champions league will quickly become boring in my opinion. Shame the powers that be seem to be positioning against each other guess it is ultimately a business in the end.

16 Mar 2021 22:03:57
Sure you Ed's have been flooded with a ton of questions on the Lebron James partnering with FSG. Any ideas exactly what the purpose / goal behind the partnership is?

jordz

{Ed002's Note - It is from 3 or 4 years ago - nothing new.}

1.) 17 Mar 2021 00:24:36
Thanks Ed didn’t think it’d be as exciting as the papers make it sound.

2.) 17 Mar 2021 05:23:16
Lebron James out.

3.) 17 Mar 2021 12:00:26
Put him upfront.

4.) 17 Mar 2021 19:51:38
LeBron is an athlete who would excel at any sport he wanted to, him and Ronnie are the top two in terms of physical prowess, maybe Djokovic too. Having more news articles about LeBron and Liverpool can only be a good thing in terms of marketing us statside.

5.) 17 Mar 2021 20:19:55
I’d stick lebron at centre back. No ones out jumping him at set pieces.

04 Feb 2021 10:31:36
Does anyone feel klopp is playing it too safe against these teams that play the low block? Was there really a need today to start with Wij and Milner when we all knew what Brighton would do? Especially since mane wasn't available. Needed more from the midfield. why not play Jones. Look to move hendo into mid once the goal goes in? Too safe in my opinion. got to go for the win.

jordz

1.) 04 Feb 2021 11:15:25
He could be playing it safe in midfield because he has neither Henderson or Fabinho to act as the 6. Thiago and Wijnaldum can do it in a pinch, but both are far from ideal for the job and need a bit more help and protection.

Personally, I'd have gone with Jones instead of Milner, but purely because Milner is 35 and it was his 4th game in about 2 weeks. I know the guy is freakishly fit, but it's really beyond what can be reasonably expected of him at his current age.

I think against City we need to take a risk on Kabak or Davies making their debut against in form league leaders so we can have at least one out of Hendo and Fabinho back in midfield. I would also use Ox instead of Shaqiri if Mane isn't back.

2.) 04 Feb 2021 12:16:12
It would of been the perfect time to bring Davies on and push Henderson back into midfield, games like this show how unimportant Gini is against teams outside the top 10, never has or will be creative or a threat, there was zero need for him and Milner to play together, took me back to the days of Can and Gini, when we knew straight away nothing creative was coming, we need two midfielders with creativity and drive against these teams, one out of Gini or Milner, not both, Bobby needs to be told to stay on the last defender, his touch and passing last night were awful, him coming back to take the ball from the CBs is ridiculous and he should of been getting an earful from the sides to stay up-top.

29 Jan 2021 00:08:13
Ian Doyle now reporting it is likely LFC will sign a cb before Monday. the question is who and if they have time to get it done. got to be a priority with what seems another lengthy injury to matip.

jordz

1.) 29 Jan 2021 02:48:38
given ed2's responses earlier, I wonder where the money would be coming from and who they would be signing. I just can't see anything other than a Steve Caulker type signing. Unless FSG go all in and gamble their uncertain revenue on someone like Upamecano and bring forward their search for 1/ 2 choice CB to compete with VVD and Gomez.

{Ed0666's Note - is upamacano even a target? I’m guessing it may be the Turkish fella that plays for Shalke. I think Shalke need the money and he can play 2 games in a row without getting injured. At this point we need someone who can play 17 games and tackle. Let’s leave the Rolls Royce purchases till the summer.

2.) 29 Jan 2021 03:44:59
Looks like it could be Botman. Decent signing if we make it happen (from both a short term and long term perspective) .
If money is so tight at the club, why r we not trying to sell Origi, Shaq and other fringe players for slightly lower fees? Someone needs to tell Edwards that the world is not a perfect place where u get everything u want.

{Ed0666's Note - is Botman the rumour that is doing the rounds Buzzer? One things for sure we won’t have long to wait. I wouldn’t mind him to be fair in fact I wouldn’t mind Shakin Stevens at the mo.

3.) 29 Jan 2021 05:24:22
I think we missed a boat with F Tomori was young loan to buy HG and used to EPL.

4.) 29 Jan 2021 05:57:20
Do you really think Chelsea would have loaned Tomori to one of their rivals?

5.) 29 Jan 2021 06:23:25
Get per schuurs! 🙏🙏.

6.) 29 Jan 2021 07:28:40
It could be Subotic.

7.) 29 Jan 2021 08:06:30
Dont want Kabak is it from Schalke? Happy to of took him before he turned into Douglas Costa and spat on someone, dirty dirty trick, gone right off him.

8.) 29 Jan 2021 08:24:14
I'm going to play the wild card here. I think we will go for a young proven defender, fast tall, good tackler, and great with the ball. Someone who Mr Klopp can mould into our new van dyke. I was going to go for Botman, but having done a bit of my own research I'm going to predict we go for Nordi Mukieli.

9.) 29 Jan 2021 08:58:46
Oh ok, sigh, I’ll dust off my boots and do a few stretches, should be right for at least 3 games before tearing a hammy.

{Ed025's Note - well i would give you a shot burkey, could BB be the next VVD?, yes it might ruin the pay structure but your a gamble worth taking for me mate.. :)

10.) 29 Jan 2021 09:04:55
Not sure who we can get BUT I can guarantee you we will stand a chance of winning anything this season if a CB is not brought in. That is just a fact. It is even a miracle that we are where we are with all the issues we have had, CB issue included BUT a CB surely has to come in now. Don't care who it is.

11.) 29 Jan 2021 09:45:52
I'd play it safe and get Subotic as a stop gap on a one year contract. Botman looks interesting but I'd look at him again and decide in the summer once we have a firm view of where Van Dijk and Gomez are in their recovery. I'd also like to see Botman play without Fonte next to him (the same Fonte who made Lovren look unbeatable at Southampton), to make a final decision.

12.) 29 Jan 2021 10:15:41
Ed025, my last contract involved a 50% discount voucher at club venues, don't think this one will break the bank.

{Ed025's Note - lets hope not burkey mate..

13.) 29 Jan 2021 06:33:01
666 - I have no idea about Upamecano, I just mean that a CB of his quality is unlikely in this window unless FSG are going to go for broke and bring their spending forward. that's what I meant by a short term, caulker type signing is most likely. altho I really like Phillips and believe he can do a job.

{Ed0666's Note - oh got ya mate. You don’t know with FSG they don’t Telegraph their transfer policy anymore. Personally I think they’d rather buy Matip a new ankle then buy a new defender. My point is if they bring in a CB now of any capacity who didn’t they do it 3 weeks ago when Klopp advocated for one? The financial situation hasn’t changed we’re still broke.

14.) 29 Jan 2021 07:58:12
Fingers crossed we get someone. Ed’s am i right in thinking that a free agent like Subotic can be signed after the window closes?
Btw, i know it’s not Liverpool related, but fair play to Nuno.

{Ed0666's Note - yes mate suboptimal can be signed out of the window, as can any free agent.

15.) 30 Jan 2021 01:17:25
I guess the difference between now and then is the additional I juries that may tip the scales towards making a purchase. Anyways, it's a pretty tough situation all around. They're going to spend money they didn't want to on a player who most likely would never wear the shirt if not for our circumstances.

{Ed0666's Note - we were crying out for a CB before Matip’s injury. Now we need two.

29 Sep 2020 00:08:20
I've always had a soft spot for keita because I feel he has the ability but never showed but. I think that's the first game I've seen keita get the system. Press at the right time cover for mo or Trent pressing. Much better. Hope it continues.

jordz

1.) 29 Sep 2020 07:43:18
i thought he had a decent game.

2.) 29 Sep 2020 08:23:58
My stream was poor for the first half, but keita looked a lot better from what I saw. Needs to keep it up though.

3.) 29 Sep 2020 08:39:20
Keita played a lot better IMO, especially out of possession, which has always been my gripe with him.

4.) 29 Sep 2020 08:59:31
Agree Keita was better out of possession - even saw him busting his lungs to get back on the odd occasion. Still seems too easy to knock off the ball at times but tidy all the same.

Much better from Trent last night and pleased for Gomez to have a solid game. Ali was great when called for and Mane is just an absolute monster - sod having him breathing down your neck as a defender.

But Big Virg is simply on another planet for me - he's like a quarter back at times spraying balls out to the right wing etc. Better concentration last night but always so composed. Just a marvelous, masterful player.

Finally, should add that Virg probably gets to play that way because of Fabinho in front of him. Proper safe pair of hands who snuffs out so many attacks before they can come to anything. We're looking all right!

5.) 29 Sep 2020 09:31:51
He played great. Would like to see him finish a full 90, always seems to get subbed whether we are dominating or not. I'm not sure if he lacks fitness or if it's just rotational play.

Im not a fan of the ESL but what legal ground would Uefa have?

UEFA executive committee member and head of Danish FA Jesper Moller has said he expects Chelsea, Real Madrid and Man City to be kicked out of this season's Champions League.

Uefa are setting themselves up for another embarrassing court case like the City FFP case.

Yet the teams signed up to ESL have not said they won't still play so what legal ground could Uefa have?

Uefa could be putting there own nail in there coffin by removing them this season.

Awesome info Ed. Thanks! I feel like it is crucial the club starts moving out players this summer if they’re looking to seriously refresh the squad. Can’t keep adding players and not selling.

Raphina is a good player but I don’t think we’ve shown any interest which makes little sense. So is the fact sancho is English a factor for squad numbers here?

jordz

{Ed002's Note - No, clubs do not make what would be a huge investment because of squad numbers.}

Well from past history we’ve seen lfc pay the highest in agent fees 🙄. That said in this case I think he could be a good player for the club with the right management especially when you consider he is still on 21. Is there better options out there tho. probably.

I like him as a player. Think he would offer something different. Absolutely fed up of hearing how we are not acting professionally in our transfer dealings tho. It makes no sense ethically or financially because we end up paying more anyways in agent fees and clubs being annoyed etc.

Ed002 seems the statement from the super league is pretty strong with reports Perez wants it to start in august 2021!

Have the playing staff been consulted on this idea? With uefa now seemingly taking the stance of banning players involved in international comps, all seems to have got pretty serious from a players point of view.

jordz

{Ed002's Note - Nothing is going to happen over the next four months. It is unrelated to playing staff and you seem to be seeing an accellerated deal here.}

Is the any other sports that follow a similar proposed structure Ed? I’m thinking of how basketball works in the US?

jordz

{Ed002's Note - American professional sport sits above college sports which are all but professional in many cases. Other sperts and leagues need occasional restructuring to address issues - professional football in England has too many professional sides hence you get clubs going bust. The timing with the pandemic is not good and the "elite" sides have been requested to meet this week by one club and will do so once they fully understand the UEFA changes to the plans already agreed for 2024 (which look pretty simple). Some clubs want an automatic entry to the Champions League and other benefits. UEFA will want to talk with the "elite" sides, and perhaps FIFA will aswell, so we will see what happens there - obviously some of the clubs are the same.}
