Would gladly wait for the City punishment until the summer,
Then a 60 point deduction, two year transfer ban, and a hefty fine of say £40-50m all coming into effect from August 2026.
That's the least we should expect to see in my opinion.
29 Mar 2026 08:33:27
Even if it does happen, City can still appeal it and drag it out for another year or two. Wouldn't expect anything to happen in the immediate future, really.
Agree8
29 Mar 2026 09:44:35
There's no chance the corrupt league will hit their corrupt mates with a 60 point deduction. Whatever they do get hit with, they'll appeal and get a reduction anyway. I'd be very surprised if it was more than 12 points. It should be a point for every charge, frozen wage bill, transfer ban, and title stripping for all years in question, but of course that would require the league to actually have some integrity.
Whatever happens, I guarantee disappointment for everyone bar City.
Agree12
29 Mar 2026 12:34:53
Was it a corrupt league last season?
Agree0
29 Mar 2026 12:35:05
Bloody hell, I think it's time to lower expectations. A few million in fines and a suspended transfer ban is more than likely for City. Then, hopefully, this farce of a court case can be put to bed.
Agree0
29 Mar 2026 12:55:05
Everton n Forest got pts deducted because let's face it, they haven't got the money like Citeh Chelsea to fight it. If Chelsea would have got banned or demoted they would have just done what Citeh have done n dragged it through the courts for years, but they'll take the fine with glee n that's all I can see happening to Citeh.
Agree2
{Ed001's Note - Chelsea were not given points as they self-reported and helped with the investigation. If they had not reported it, no one would ever have known about it. They also turned over everything to the FA and Premier League to go through, while Citeh tried to be obstructive and block access to their files, even though all clubs sign a contract when they join the Premier League which agrees to give free access to the Prem and FA to their books.
It is two totally different cases. Chelsea was all done under Abramovich, while Citeh are being investigated because of what has happened under the current owner. Can people stop spouting ignorant nonsense and whining about it without actually having a bloody clue. It is so tedious reading all the whinging about nothing.}
29 Mar 2026 13:10:20
Could there ever be a suitable and fitting punishment for all their 'alleged misdemeanours', points deduction, transfer ban, fine? All temporary and nothing more than a kick in the shins.
Would they be where they are today, whether or not 'alleged misdemeanours' took place?
Maybe, eventually.
All titles expunged, removed from history, never happened.
Whatever, if any punishment received won't really change anything, a temporary blip on life's pathway.
There can never be anything remotely fitting, but we know!
Agree1
29 Mar 2026 13:16:31
Chelsea was entirely different from City, so I'm not sure why people keep bringing it up as a comparison. They were the ones who reported the inconsistencies in their accounts themselves after the new owners took over and found out about it.
They could have easily kept quiet about it and the league would likely not have found out about it at all. They also cooperated with the league fully afterwards, so they have a lot of points going in their mitigation.
Agree2
29 Mar 2026 13:30:24
That may very well be the case, Dracred, but every other club not named Chelsea would have a very good argument for the punishments being harsher. They signed a fair few top players in that period that got them a considerable amount of success and points at the expense of everybody else in the league.
What's to stop any other team doing the same thing and then reporting it themselves a few years down the line? (Granted they would have to sell the team to somebody else before they report it haha).
Agree2
{Ed001's Note - no they haven't. That is just ignorant nonsense. No other club has a good argument for it being harsher. They might whine like the fans do, but there is no good argument for anything, just petty whining.}
29 Mar 2026 13:41:17
It's gone on too long now. Took about a week to dish out the blues****s punishment. I'd strip them of everything they won in that period and replace the record with cheated. Then have Prem records show no 1st place foul play at hand. Embarrass the whole lot.
Agree2
29 Mar 2026 13:44:49
What rot, PB.
Agree1
29 Mar 2026 14:07:59
The Irish Rover!!, I'm assuming you're suggesting the league wasn't corrupt because we won it, which in turn suggests that your idea of corruption is match fixing, referee bias and manipulated VAR decisions. That's a very small-minded view to have. When I'm talking about corruption I mean brown envelopes, back handers, offshore accounts, cooked books, hush money and that sort of thing.
And, answer your question, yes I believe the league was corrupt last year, and every other year. I don't think there's a major organisation under wing of UEFA that isn't corrupt to some extent.
Agree2
29 Mar 2026 14:19:53
There's no chance the corrupt league will hit their corrupt mates with a 60 point deduction."
Chewy, that suggests to me that you think the PL are just in cahoots with City only? I will wait for any damning evidence against the PL before I go about calling foul.
Agree2
29 Mar 2026 15:25:41
No, that's not what I'm insinuating I'm making. Suggesting two entities are corrupt doesn't automatically mean that corruption exists solely between the two. I'm afraid you've misunderstood me. I'm simply implying the league is not impervious to corruption, I'm not suggesting they have some sort of uniquely corrupt partnership with City.
Whilst I can appreciate that some, like yourself, would demand concrete proof, personally, I've seen enough corruption in football, and many other sports, to be convinced that no organisation is completely free from foul play of some sort.
Agree1
29 Mar 2026 15:50:50
My point was not to have a go at Chelsea or even Citeh, it was to have a go at the lilly livered prem league, they done Everton n Forest quickly.but because Chelsea n Citeh are mega bucked with lawyers everywhere, they could fight anything for however long if they wanted, costing the prem league 10s of millions in legal fees.So ED001 since you seem to know all about it, do you think the punishment to Chelsea was adequate because they complied or do you think they should have been let off because it was a different owner group to who owns them now
Agree0
{Ed001's Note - Chelsea didn't fight it, it took time because there were years of accounts to go through. The punishment was probably about right, they did everything right under the new owners so anything worse would have been very harsh and not encouraged others to come forward in future.}
29 Mar 2026 17:21:27
ED001, Fair play to Chelsea, they done all what was asked of them and still got a big fine, what do you think will or should happen to Citeh.I can't see what everyone is hoping for, only because of how they would fight tooth n nail over every charge and I don't think whoever runs the prem league are up for the fight
Agree0
{Ed001's Note - they should be stripped of all titles, other than that, I think they deserve at least one relegation.}
29 Mar 2026 18:21:29
Have you all heard of the Mandela Effect. When a large group of people share the same false memory. Like the Monopoly man wearing a monocle when he actually does not. Well, perhaps City are hoping that takes effect, and we all think we remember they have been punished when they actually haven't. The Premier League board will all sit there in a year's time and be happy about how they punished City when actually they forgot to do it, and it's all a false memory.
There is more chance of that happening than an actual substantial punishment ever being brought. It will be a fine that will be paid out of the owners' spare change purse and a suspended transfer ban. If anything at all.
Agree0
29 Mar 2026 18:33:25
They should definitely be stripped of all those titles they won. But I am not in favour of those titles being handed over to the 2nd placed sides. A bit meaningless those titles would feel honestly.
Agree0
29 Mar 2026 18:53:16
Cheers for the replies ED001, would the titles go to the 2nd place team or just have no champions on them years
Agree0
{Ed001's Note - just be stripped.}
29 Mar 2026 21:05:54
Are you saying that Mandela didn't exist, Kim?
Agree0
30 Mar 2026 07:09:15
Titles stripped and any prize monies 'earned' must be paid back and redistributed to the teams that came runner up. They have to receive some level of transfer ban and hefty fine imo.
Agree2
{Ed025's Note - any monies should be distributed to grass roots football for me LN..
30 Mar 2026 07:18:18
1) Strip them of the titles, that's a given.
2) Relegate them this season.
3) Ban them from the PL for 4 more seasons.
Sounds about right for me.
Agree1
30 Mar 2026 08:33:24
The thing with Chelsea is that they are very good at exploiting loopholes (which is fair enough), but they do seem to be one of a very select band who cause the rules to be changed. Clubs can't even sell their hotels or their women's team to themselves anymore.
Agree0
30 Mar 2026 12:42:22
I'm with Ron. Just strip their titles with an asterisk next to those seasons, and leave that side alone, along with a 3 year transfer ban.
As for relegation, part of me actually wants them to stay up (with a healthy point deduction for each season they were found guilty), so that they can go to every PL away ground with the home fans chanting "Cheats" each time they get the ball and whenever they score a goal.
As for comparing Chelsea with City, people need to go do their research, really.
Agree1
31 Mar 2026 03:35:18
Where should people research, @Oli? Where did you do your researching, if I may ask?
29 Mar 2026 00:08:08.
Seen a lot of hate on here the other day regarding Wirtz. Just hope the same people seen the player he can be when played in the right position and also play the game around his strengths, not make him just a number.
He's 22, 2 years Bundesliga Player of the Year. We have a possible superstar on our hands and he's never played 2 games in the same position, never mind his favoured position, and I accept injuries and form.
Just think it's time to play our best players in their proper position and then make the team around them instead of playing our best players out of position cos they can play there.
29 Mar 2026 08:49:11
Wouldn't say it was hate, Steve, a poster put up a post that they were a bit underwhelmed with Wirtz and most of replies were positive about him. I also think we've a potential superstar on our hands, but I do believe u have to build a team around him, a physical energetic midfielder behind him for starters, imo.
He can be a bit easy-oosy at times and he will have to step it up next season, like the whole team. He was playing v well recently before he got that injury and when he came back he looked like he did at start of season, a bit off it. He had a good game for Germany seemingly and hopefully he takes that form back with him.
Agree5
29 Mar 2026 09:16:49
Wirtz will be better for it next season. He was playing an international friendly with nothing on the game.
Not Premier League, where he gets brushed off the ball like he's an academy player.
He'll be better for it and yes, we have a baller. But can we stop manufacturing ways to make everything about Slot.
Agree1
29 Mar 2026 12:56:52
Wirtz is class. It took him a while to blend in. I'm hoping we see the best of him next season, with a manager, players n tactics which suit our team.
Agree0
29 Mar 2026 18:35:09
I have never seen any hate towards Wirtz. I think you were being a bit disrespectful towards Reds fans, Steve 81. We all know we have a world talent that needs to bed in with the club, players and country, and hopefully a new manager. YNWA.
Agree1
29 Mar 2026 19:21:09
Until the fraud leaves, I'll reserve judgement on Wirtz like other senior players.
Agree1
30 Mar 2026 12:47:14
Digger, the poster who did all that, should go check out the goal Wirtz just scored vs the Swiss at the weekend.
Wirtz was always gonna struggle to adapt, as it is his first season, and frankly, I am more excited about what he can do under another manager.
Cos if Wirtz can perform well to a decent/good extent under a feckless manager with a useless system then it can only bode well for him under a competent, committed and less arrogant manager who is fully engaged in making the team (and Wirtz) better. Just my take.
28 Mar 2026 17:19:10
Great to watch the Legends play. Thiago and Stevie on the same pitch.
Dalglish, Rush and Klopp as the management team. Crouchy and Smicer. It's clear the LFC former players are a great family. Would love to see the likes of Milner, Hendo, Salah, Firmino, and Mane back again when they are retired. What a club!
28 Mar 2026 18:37:43
A lot of clubs wouldn't get 60k watching the first team. I'd love us to get the likes of Thiago,
Milner, if he ever retires, involved in the coaching side, youth teams first, and I would invent a job to get Klopp involved running the academy and football development, etc etc, have a pathway for ex players to be future managers boot room style... but absolutely, as a fan since 1978, based in North London, my son is 17 now.
He was 9 when we first came to Anfield, we get up for around 4 games a season, a couple of parades and even a week in the summer for the hell of it, and have done for the last 8 years. The club, the city, the people are special.
My son knows his way around the city blindfolded, can speak perfect Scouse, and apart from spending my pension to do it... it was worth every penny!! Living out my dreams with my lad was and is priceless.
Agree32
{Ed025's Note - love it Eddie..
28 Mar 2026 18:24:50
Particularly great to see Stevie and Thiago playing together, can only imagine the damage they could have done together. Stevie can still put it on a sixpence from anywhere, pleasure to see him play again. Some goal from Jay Spearing. Pity they didn't get the win. Great watch, nonetheless, but I was nearly ready to kill the broadcast director when they missed the Klopp fist pump!

The first time I took my boys to Anfield was way back in 2008 against the mighty Wigan, Titus Bamble getting a late equaliser. It was absolutely baltic but the kids loved every bit of the whole experience.
Going to Carraghers Bar and the Liverpool store so they could bankrupt me 🥴. The only thing missing was a victory so thanks for that, Titus, never liked that guy anyway. 🤣

Great to see all the lads and the enormous tribute they made in the 20th min. for Diogo and Andre (saw the highlights). A true family we Reds are, for sure.
What do you think changed between last year and this year with Slot and his tactics? How come we went from the team which swept the league to being a team everyone wants to play to regain their form? Cannot just be the new players as these lot cannot need a whole season to gel.
Cheers!
{Ed001's Note - he just got them to play his way and the fitness was much lower as well. It was already heading this way last season, the last weeks were dire, but we all just hoped it was nerves, I think.}
28 Mar 2026 19:19:37
So do you think ed if Slot had of come in and wanted them to play his way from the start last year would have been an absolute disaster?

{Ed001's Note - yes.}
28 Mar 2026 20:42:21

Agree6
29 Mar 2026 03:30:31
My 2 cents...
I think we erred by not replacing Diaz by a proper left winger, or Chiesa should have been given more chances there. Depending on Gapko has basically made our left wing defunct, and the situation has been compounded by Salah having a mare of a season, and we not having a right wing back up too.
Isak's injury has impacted our season a lot too, as he could have let us play Ekitike on the left, and Wirtz in number 10.
Agree4
30 Mar 2026 12:56:38
Damn, Jimjim. tell us how you really feel. I agree with Ed. Slot's system is a disaster and had he put it in practice last season, we would have been just as dire, if not worse. His system doesn't work in the PL, hands down. Him persisting with it despite all the rubbish going on, is what I see as being most criminal.
You can make a mistake and people will sympathise if you are willing to work hard and change BUT to just ignore them and not change and rather, quadruple down on them with no regard for anyone but yourself? This is where Slot lost all the credit in the back for no. 20 and was where I drew the line months ago.
28 Mar 2026 13:56:47
Please may I ask that someone enlighten me to the whole Ben White situation in the England team.
All I know is that he fell out with the previous manager / management team, and now he's brought back in, but has to "make right" with the players according to Tuchel.
He scored last night, gave away a penalty and then was booed as well.
28 Mar 2026 16:38:15
He was given some "homework" to do on opposing players and said he'd done it but hadn't.

Apparently, Southgate's assistant asked White to remove his earrings for a practice game. White didn't see the point, as it wasn't an official match, but Steve Holland insisted it was a safety hazard. White eventually agreed, but only after things got pretty heated between the two. After removing the earrings and handing them to Holland for safe keeping, the assistant coach thanked White for complying and briefly flashed a wry grin before absolutely hoofing the things downfield with an exquisite volley, apparently sending White's most coveted pair of "Ben Sherman men's Platinum Look Hoops" over 60 yards across the training ground, landing in a nearby bush. Reports claim White was less than pleased when he had to scale a 10-foot fence and spent 20 minutes searching, only to recover just one of the beloved earrings.
His mood quickly escalated to a level of "absolutely fuming", as quoted by a teammate who wished to remain anonymous, as he stormed into Southgate's office screaming profanities and demanding Holland be removed from the coaching staff. This did not go down well with Southgate, of course, who was on a conference call with the brand manager from PizzaHut at the time, as White's behaviour apparently ruined all possibility of Southgate rekindling his relationship with the famous pizza chain who were keen on securing Southgate for a follow-up to his classic 1996 ad campaign for the nation's favourite pizzeria.

Just putting this out there for other opinions and views but watching England last night and particularly Phil Foden.
To me he looks a total shadow of the player he was 2 or 3 seasons ago and no doubt missing KDB.
It wouldn't surprise me if his form continues City might look to move him on?
He seems a pretty steady sort of bloke on a personal life level and if he were to move on and I'm not sure a move abroad would suit him.
Would he be a player we would be interested in and would fellow posters and the Ed's think he's a player that would fit and suit us.
{Ed001's Note - are you serious? Ridiculously overrated and far too happy partying with Girlish, which is why his form fell off a cliff.}
28 Mar 2026 11:12:36
