We have decided to change the Teams page to be the Liverpool Match Posts page, so look for posts talking about the latest Liverpool match there.

But most of the posts still go to the Liverpool Banter page.

16 Feb 2020 22:21:22
Also more posts are being added to the Liverpool Discussion Posts and the More Liverpool Posts pages.

Hi eds,

Do you think citu can get thier ban cleared as it seems if they don't play CL for 2 seasons the league would be a walk in the park for them. Also any updates on our summer targets. Kai havertz and jadon sancho. I did read you said sancho has a insane overall fee including agent fees but why would we then declare interest.

Cheers :)

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City will appeal the ban.

Kai Havertz (AM) Bayern Munich will likely move for KH if the option on Philippe Coutinho not taken up, but interest from elsewhere - particularly Barcelona (if Coutinho leaves), Manchester City (as a David Silva replacement - although you can probably scratch that for now) and Juventus. Interest of Milan will likely not go anywhere. Dortmund and PSG have both certainly spoken with his agent. Numerous other clubs have had scouts watch including Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid who have watched him on a number of occasions but either don't see the value in the price or have other targets. With other transfers it is likely that we can remove the interest of Real Madrid, Manchester United can also be removed from the mix after completing the Bruno Fernandes transfer. Whether Liverpool wish to throw their hat in to the ring is another matter. Bild wrote an article citing interest from Manchester United, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid - and then went on to write another saying Manchester United and Manchester City have spoken directly with the player - which they have not. Somewhere down the line an English paper added Liverpool as one of these clubs. Right now, Liverpool has not made any approach to Bayer Leverkusen regarding the player, and they should think very carefully about value for money – the asking price is very significant. Regardless, an enquiry is likely not too far away.

Jadon Sancho (RW) The total cost of the full package (transfer fee, agent fee, signing on fee and FA payment) is simply outrageous - otherwise he would be moving to Chelsea. Some interested sides will be shocked in to stepping back because of the costs - so Inter can be removed as they are looking to take another youngster from England; Juventus have other players they will look to first; Manchester City see him as over priced and have their mind focussed on something else. Manchester United are keen but the budget may not stretch and they have been talking (yesterday actually) to another side about taking a young player in the summer but they could return with an offer. Jadon Sancho is down the list and too expensive for Barcelona - he would want assurances of game time and he not first choice for them as they have a priority signing who will soak up a lot of the funds. Real Madrid have a different primary target who will cost a world record fee which will kill any chance of a move if it happens. PSG are not looking at Sancho and expect a similar, although older, player to be offered to them in part exchange in the summer. If Liverpool are looking to replace Salah I think there are cheaper options who would suit their needs available. So potentially an option for all of these sides but the total cost would need to change considerably for something to happen.

It is largely down to one person and his demands, what the player is open to and whether or not Dortmund are willing to work on the price. If you look at the clubs as options, the player has made it clear a return to London and joining Chelsea would be his preferred choice, but they are not going to pay for the total package as it is costed right now. Manchester City are in a similar place financially as Chelsea - and don't see anywhere close to the value in the player. Liverpool would need to let go of Salah and commit a lot more money to make it viable - I can't see that is the plan and it would be disruptive and rather stupid if they went down that road. Real Madrid and Barcelona both have high end targets that will soak up significant funds and will be ready to go immediately they join - they are likely unimpressed by the risk associated with the potential benefits. As for Manchester United, they remain in turmoil with no direction and the player wants to move elsewhere - they could throw money at the problem but it would then mean they don't have the funds left to fix the more significant issues. Dortmund may try and work the Euros and him excelling to try and leverage more from the English sides - but that would be a high-risk plan for all. Else he stays at Dortmund. There has been a further discussion with one of these sides in the coming days - so right now it remains up in the air.}

Ed all I am seeing is talk of Werner and Sancho. Whilst I appreciate 100% categorically neither is happening, is there even any interest what so ever from us?

Believable1 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - At least you have moved on from Mbappe.
Timo Werner (S) RBL know of the interest of Chelsea who consider TW as a suitable replacement for Giroud - but they have other preferred options. Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid remain keen - but this could change quickly depending on other targets clubs have - for example, if by some chance MU were able to sign a Free Agent for the summer then interest in TW would go - equally if other clubs were not able to sign their targets, interest in TW might increase. Atletico signing Cavani would likely kill off their interest. Would Timo Werner be interested in a move to sit on the bench at Liverpool most of the time? If the answer is yes, or if Firmino is leaving then it makes sense. Many of the fans expect Klopp to add all of these players without anyone leaving and then completely change tactics and rotate them - it makes zero sense and the club has to meet Home Grown quotas as well. PSG are concerned about being shunned by Icardi and have looked at TW but have not declared any interest. Mr Mourinho is keen for Spurs to take him but there are concerns about the cost. The interest of Dortmund has gone with the signing of Haarland. Bayern Munich were never going to do business in January and played down all transfer talk but there is no doubt that Robert Lewandowski, who will be 32 at the start of next season, is going to need replacing in the next 18 months - and the plan had always been that it would be Timo Werner - they could yet look to do something or perhaps suggest he waits another year at RBL who have offered a new contract.

(b) Jadon Sancho (RW) The total cost of the full package (transfer fee, agent fee, signing on fee and FA payment) is simply outrageous - otherwise he would be moving to Chelsea. Some interested sides will be shocked in to stepping back because of the costs - so Inter can be removed as they are looking to take another youngster from England; Juventus have other players they will look to first; Manchester City see him as over priced. Thanks so much for all this thought-provoking info Ed002 - I love reading your posts when you dangle scraps without revealing any names!

Might I be the first to bite please and ask:

Is the youngster MU we’re talking to yesterday Jude Bellingham?

Also, is the player OSG expect to be offered in part exchange (presumably for Neymar) Antoine Greizemab?

Thanks again, appreciate it if you don’t want to reveal any mire info yet!

What relevance is our interest if you know we categorically won’t sign them?

You also told people to move on from Werner yday. I’m amazed the Ed’s tolerate you’re questions.

Yet all you continue to add Shaq is abuse and questioning honest posters like me who rely on the Ed’s information. Yes I did say just that yesterday and today I have gone back on what I said a little and asked the question. Why not?

You thought about adding something a little more positive to the site yet? Maybe mix it up a little bit be daring? Be happy and if you don’t like my posts maybe don’t read or comment on them!

Thanks Ed’s do you see him being priced out of a move this summer?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - Not Werner but he may have to think carefully about his options. Sancho is already priced out of a move - hence there today being a proposal to return to speak to one of the interested sides again. To buy at the current figures would take all but the most stupid out of the calculation - they need to change before it becomes viable. Would you accept the exit of Salah plus significant addition funds to sign him as a good deal?}

13 Feb 2020 18:54:41
Once again Ed002 gets it all wrong. Mbappe is IN THE BAG, joining in June but will go straight into the u23's until he learns the ropes. Should see him start in the Caraboa Cup to ease him into the team and maybe Premier League games after the winter break.

Thanks Ed002 for your unending knowledge. ;)

Yes correct I said we won’t sign them then asked Ed’s if we even have interest. There us always lots of interest on players who don’t sign for clubs you know.

Wow you’ve called me a Snowflake ha ha I’m so hurt now.

I do ask questions sometimes repeat and contradict what I’ve asked previously I admit. I’m sorry for annoying you Shaw so much I’ve been on this site for years and visit it daily often without posting. I’ve only ever seen you pull me up on things and ever anyone else. I don’t come on here for arguments I come on here to read posts, ask questions and learn and I feel I do add to the site even if you don’t.

Tell you what you want have to read any my my posts anymore as it’s about time I moved on from the site altogether I think.

Cheers for all your hard work and effort Ed’s over the last 7 or more years. I might return one day but for now I need a break away from the arguments and bully’s.

Good afternoon Eds. I saw an article linking Liverpool to Carlos Vinicius of Benfica. I didn't see anything with the search function, so I thought I'd ask about him.

Good goal scoring record this season, but I'd assume no interest at the price indicated, and also unless someone was leaving.

Believable0 0Unbelievable

{Ed002's Note - I m not aware of any approach by Liverpool but he is having a very good season and would perhaps be a high risk option to Werner as a Firmino replacement. Portuguese pricing to fight off interest at something like €120M.}

I caught a bit of flak on here when I inquired about a replacement in the squad for Brewster prior to his departure. Usual sort of why sign someone to sit on the bench stuff. and yet Minamino was brought in. I understand that any deal for Werner would be on a different scale but believe we have progressed enough both on and off the pitch for it to be a possibility.

What none of us know is what footballing ambitions or dreams any player has. They may include winning as many trophies as possible; playing for one or more of the world’s most famous clubs; playing different types of football in different leagues; sampling the different cultures in several continents or countries; having a settled long-term base to raise a family; staying with his hometown club for his full career; earning as much money as possible in what is a relatively short career; or a mix of these. We should simply enjoy the great players that come to our great club and wish them all the best if and when they move on.

{Ed025's Note - only one of those has any credibility WW ....its the money mate and anyone who claims lying through their teeth..

11 Feb 2020 18:28:56
Ed025, such cynicism in one so young! I will give you 3 examples off the top of my head to challenge your view :

Matt Le Tissier - could have had his pick of the big teams, earned more money, been more famous, won more trophies but stayed with Southampton throughout his career.

Alan Shearer - when he left Blackburn, was wanted by Manchester United where he would have earned more money and won more trophies but signed for his boyhood club Newcastle United instead.

Steven Gerrard - could definitely have signed for Chelsea and probably a number of other top clubs, earned more money and won the PL trophy but stayed with Liverpool.

Other posters will have lots of other examples.

Agree7 0Disagree

{Ed025's Note - le tissier was from a different era WW so we can dismiss him, shearer followed the cash to go to blackburn and at newcastle was still one of the highest paid players in the league, gerrard tried to leave for the cash but buckled under the pressure of threats to him and his family...but good try mate.. :)

11 Feb 2020 19:21:59
Posters, help! Please come to my assistance and demonstrate to Ed025 that modern footballers are not all the greedy, money-grabbing, selfish so-and-sos he would have us believe. Or am I hopelessly naive?

Oh, and Ed025 - didn’t your very own Binman turn down an approach from Ferguson before he signed Schmeichel to stay with the Blues?

{Ed025's Note - again a different era WW, its all about the money now mate and i wish i could say different..but i cant..

11 Feb 2020 19:42:05
Ighalo? took a pay cut to join Man Utd last month?

What about all the Juve players that stayed when the club was relegated? They took a 25% pay cut i believe to stay with the club they loved?

Totti turning down Real Madrid to stay at Roma?

Lahm turning down Barc to stay at Bayern?

Hamsik turning down Juve to stay at Napoli?

What about Jamie Vardy? Turned down a pay rise at Arsenal to stay at Leicester?

I am sure there are plenty others! COme on people help us out here. All of those players could have earnt more if they moved!

11 Feb 2020 21:59:27
To be fair 0025 I only managed a list of less than 10 and it took me a good while to pull it together. You on the other hand could rattle off about 100 names of players who chased the money so I think your point very much stands true.

Do you think a salary cap is the way to go or are we now too far gone?

Red Sandman, thanks for the support.

Ed025, I have to concede this one to you. I still think there are some players in the modern game who are not motivated exclusively or primarily by money but you are probably right that for the majority the money comes first, second and last.

{Ed025's Note - it really does im afraid mate..

12 Feb 2020 12:51:24
Somebody promised me a giant pay packet and I'd be on the first plane. It doesn't make a player evil to leave for pastures new when big money is on the table. This is why it's important players like our front three, VVD, Alisson etc. Understand that we can fight for titles on multiple fronts and pay them competitively with the other billionaires. Otherwise why wouldn't they leave? Who could truly blame them? We whine about it as fans but know in our hearts we would likely do the same. Footballers don't last for ever and are only in their prime a small portion of that time. You have to get what you can. Loyalty is fine in theory, and I can imagine none of our highest earners are angling for the exit door just yet, but if someone for ex. Barcelona says we are going to pay you what Messi makes and groom you to be his replacement how is he supposed to turn that down?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed025's Note - that depends on how much money you have..or want..or need amerigo, i will have the run of the mill player in a mid table side who is being courted by a big fish and doubling his wages mate, but these so called superstars like neymar who jump ship for mega bucks make me much money do they need?, its greed, downright avarice and in these days of austerity, foodbanks and people on zero hours contracts...they should be ashamed of themselves..

07 Feb 2020 21:21:59
Reading that Adrian could be off to Real Betis (boyhood club) in the summer and Kelleher possibly promoted in his stead. Grabara is still out there, not to mention he who must not be named. Anyone else heard of this? Alisson is never getting dislodged but Adrian has certainly proven his importance this year when given an opportunity.

I think it would be a great move for him as his career is nearly over and probably his last opportunity to play regularly in a top league.

Hes had the most memorable year he could have imagined with us and will surely walk away with a premier league medal after playing his part with a big contribution to our season when he realistically never expected to play much more than a few cup games. he's never going to oust allison so let him move on if he desires and he will forever be loved as an iconic member of this season never to be forgotten.

Adrian’s cult status reminds me of Erik Meijer and the relationship he had with some Liverpool fans. He was the type of player who celebrated winning a throw in in the opposition half almost as much as a goal and you can see that Adrian is enjoying his time at the club as much as Mad Erik did. He’s done an excellent job and if he does leave then will be fondly remembered.

Livergat I’m not commenting on Kelleher s talent however Klopp says great things about everyone partly because he’s a decent chap and partly because he knows it will mean the club gets bigger fees that he can then spend on getting better players etc. See Solanke and Wilson for examples.

@Lizardon, what are you talking about? Kelleher has actually played 4 senior games this season and kept 2 clean sheets. I've also watched him play for Ireland U21 for whom he kept 6/ 10 clean sheets. He is an excellent young goalkeeper including being very good with his feet, which is something Liverpool and Klopp value. The 10 goals you're talking about were 5 vs Arsenal and 5 vs Villa. I remember the games clearly and nobody blamed Kelleher. But especially for you, I just watched the highlights again.

Vs Arsenal:
Torreira and Martinelli goals = both good saves scored from the rebound.
Martinelli's 2nd was our young defense ripped apart and nobody could've saved.
Milner's mistake for 4th.
Willock's worldy!

Vs Villa:
Hourihane freekick that her reacted a second late to because a Villa player was running in on it.
Boyes OG that looped horribly over him.
Kodija's 2 goals again from poor defending leaving him totally exposed.
Wesley's goal where he covered his angles but beaten by a good finish.
Those last 3 were all when our young team were valiantly chasing goals and got caught out. If anything he kept the score down vs Villa with some good saves.

Either you know nothing about football or just see the goals very differently and maybe care to explain your slander?

Lizardon, can I suggest that you go to the Liverpool FC website and read an article entitled “Behind the badge: 18 months inside the LFC goalkeeping department”? You will see that in training and through his appearances in the U23s and in the 1st team, Caoimhin Kelleher has earned the trust of John Achterberg, goalkeeping coach; his assistant Jack Robinson; and Jurgen Klopp.

@Irishman. If you're quoting me you should at least get it right. I said regularly which was the one word you left out. Also he's 33 not 32 and my point is that if he stays with us another season then next summer he'll be 34 and how many options are going to be on the table then from clubs looking to offer him first choice position when he's going to be 35 not long after signing. I can't think many la liga, serie A, prem, bundesliga top sides will be realistically giving him that chance while now his options are better he might want to take it. A season of allison playing every game next year and Adrians stock will fall much more.

Pedro Brazao (LW/ RW) Nice have confirmed that they have been approached by Sporting and Bayern Munich to enquire after the kiddie but are concerned that two other sides have made an approach to a third party "representing" the player. As the player is under aged, they are obliged to formally record these concerns in writing to the FFF - as payments to third parties for underage players are not allowed (this is what has caused the UEFA investigation in to Manchester City over payments made for Jadon Sancho) . The player has been advised to stay where he is and develop.

Amazing insight you have, Davey, but it doesn’t really answer my question about interest from Liverpool.

{Ed002's Note - What Davey said is absolutely correct.}

Hey Ed's I remember ed2
Mention Federico chiesa as an option I was
Wondering if any of
You had an opinion on why he hasn't moved to at least 1 of the top teams
In Italy never mind elsewhere in Europe

He strikes me as 1 that wouldn't settle in England

I would see him as a replacement for shaq rather than Salah as Ed mentioned .

Seems talented lad but doesn't deliver the end product in goals/ assists

What are your opinions.

{Ed002's Note - Inter and Juventus both remain keen and this summer seems a time for them to move. Fiorentina know he may well look to move.}
