Any cause for concern that Mane hasn't signed a contract extension yet?

I know there's still a few years to run on his current one but I thought this would have been sorted not long after Bobby's and Mo's.

He'll get a new one this year no doubt, it's really nothing to be concerned about in my opinion. He seems like he loves Liverpool, we love him, it's a win win, he'll sign an improved contract but there's no rush.

Don't think he's as in love here as the others.

He's got a few years left yet so we don't really need to sell. We can let it run if need be.

But I think he will sign.

Fair points - the average fan like myself doesn't see the full picture on finances (incoming as well as outgoing) .

Still, what we can see is that we do now have a very good starting 11 as well as strength and depth in the squad.
Add to that a manager that inspires the players and fans and there's reason to be excited!

I was going to jump on Ed's comment and say our net spend isn't high compared to the rest of the top six but did a bit of research first.

The following numbers are net spend averages over the last 3 years, 6 years and 9 years (usual caveat around accuracy of information available) .

Liverpool £47m, £40m, £37m
City £132m, £111m, £82m
United £105m, £94m, £75m
Spurs -£15m, -£3m, -£2m
Chelsea £42m, £28m, £44m
Arsenal £51m, £49m, £31m

Interpret as you like, but we really do need to improve our return on player investment!

{Ed002's Note - Net spend is only part of the story - what about the £27M spent on agent fees last year, what about the £79M spent on payments for players purchased in previous years. It is best you all avoid the finances.}

Thanks Ed. That was my first post after following these pages for years so I appreciate your insightful response.

We seem to have a lot of links to Turkish clubs when it comes to potential sales - is it just a coincidence or do we have links there?

Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - They will be searching for loans from the English sides who over price players. Besiktas have also spoken with Everton, Arsenal and Swansea; Fenerbahce has spoken with Stoke, Everton, Chelsea (about four players), Liverpool (about two players) and Swansea; Galatasaray has spoken with Manchester City, Chelsea, Swansea, Leicester and Everton; Trabzonspor has spoken with both Liverpool and Chelsea. It is the way it is.}

My prediction before the game was that we would be flat and lose.
With the three injuries United had by half-time City would be forgiven for thinking there was a conspiracy to help us win the league but we couldn't take advantage. Real pity,

So the good news is that we're still top of the league with an easier run in than City and hopefully can draw a line under our recent poor run.

Couldn't agree more 87.

To be honest, it's not great football right now but, based on what he's done and how, I wouldn't change Klopp for any manager.

This is the best team and manager we've had for many years.

I would argue we now have one of the best defensive units in Europe which includes a world class CB and GK.
We have a very good and balanced midfield (missing one top creator / goalscorer imho) .
We have one of the best attacking forces around which includes current Premier League player of the year and record goal scorer.

We are two points of top spot, unbeaten and have probably had the hardest fixtures so far. Top of the champions league group which is one of the hardest ones too this year.

There is every reason to be very very positive.
. but I'm still scared and not enjoying this as much as I should.

Hopefully the team's nerves are better than mine!

Hi Ed, this isn't the first time you've said that or I thought it.

Do you know what the thinking is behind this approach?
I would have thought it isn't business sense to set unrealistic prices for a depreciating asset.

Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have done it before as you suggest.}
