Hey Ed2, read Liverpool are interested in Talles Magno, 17 year old Brazilian I had never heard of. Any real interest or just click bait? Being that age I'm sure getting a work permit would be quite difficult.

RobbosPress

{Ed002's Note - Talles Magno (S/W) Vasco de Gama kiddie who has been subject to discussions with Lyon's Sporting Director Juninho and Real Madrid who want him to join and pair up with Reinier Jesus and Rodrygo to ease the transition. Lazio and Roma enquired after a price and were quoted €65M but it went no further than that and realistically it would need to be less than half that. Benfica, Manchester City, Braga, Liverpool, Juventus, Chelsea and Bayern Munich were impressed with him enough at the U17 World Cup to continue to watch him at club level. I would suggest the chances of him moving to Europe would be influenced by compatriots at Real Madrid or the lure of Juninho at OL. Benfica have offered the best opportunity to get through in to the first team. I cannot assess the chances of a move to any of the other sides.}

1.) 17 May 2020 11:06:12
Thanks ed.

{Ed002's Note - I would note that players cannot move from Brazil until they are 18.}

2.) 17 May 2020 11:01:14
Aren't Vasco de Gama really struggling financially, Ed002? I read a couple of days ago that this could make them accept a much lower offer, but I guess if there's plenty of interest, they may not need to.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, Brazilian sides are struggling and as I said in the reply, realistically the price will be considerably lower than they have been asking.}

3.) 17 May 2020 18:35:54
Would we ever consider signing young Brazilians given the work permit issues?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool don't want another Allan situation obviously, so they need to be careful. The issue of being Home Grown becomes an issue at 21 in England as well - and Liverpool need to start managing that better - particularly as efforts will be made again to change the ratio.}

4.) 18 May 2020 15:00:48
Thanks for the info Ed, really interesting. I can see what you're saying with regards to Allan, however would this issue not be eased by the prospective transfer fee? Also would our strong Brazilian contingent (albeit significantly older) make Liverpool an attractive destination?

{Ed002's Note - He is a child who would have to suffer significant cultural changes, language issues - it would not be a good move for him but we will see. I also don't see that Liverpool would want to tie up significant money in a player who cannot move before he is 18 and would be far from the first team.}

Looking forward to Ed's take on Saturday's game in his review this week. Something tells me he'll not be doing a "short-ish" one this time.

RobbosPress

{Ed001's Note - no, it is already lengthy and I have barely started.}

1.) 02 Oct 2023 16:33:23
I'm sure mate. A lot of talking points and not many about the football on show.

2.) 02 Oct 2023 16:36:30
Eds x rated rant haha.

Few thoughts from today. Early goal gave us a bit of freedom, I expected a lot more from Villa though, they never looked like getting into the game and we were cruising as soon as it went 2-0. Their defenders will have nightmares about Darwin I'm sure, although he didn't score, I thought he was excellent today, decision making seems to be his biggest issue but he's unlucky not to have had a hat trick today. A bit of luck will come his way eventually and he will be banging them in from all angles.

In defence we looked solid too, in midfield we dominated and Szoboszlai is getting better every game, great strike for his goal and always looked a threat, worked hard all game.

Great team effort today but I'm sure there will be a lot tougher tests to come but, 10 points from 4 games is a great start to the season.

Utd getting beat after they thought they done another smash and grab was a nice little cherry on top.

1.) 03 Sep 2023 20:25:37
We did well today but still gave away a few soft chances at critical points throughout the game. All in all good result in what could have been a tricky game. Szob is fast becoming my new favourite player.

2.) 03 Sep 2023 21:06:24
Szob definitely looks the real deal. I also think Nunez looked menacing whilst on the pitch. He seems to have worked on his finishing, snatching much less and getting a cleaner contact.

I’d rather him on the pitch than Gakpo, who for me looks great and silky smooth but offers very little. Doesn’t seem to have an eye for a pass, doesn’t press particularly well, just good first touch then simple pass off.

3.) 03 Sep 2023 22:15:32
Brummy red, Villa are a good team and with the way we play, other teams will get openings. It is what it is. We managed things overall very well and took the sting out of the game which is what I have always wanted. Great game management from Klopp.

4.) 03 Sep 2023 23:11:56
Correct me if I'm wrong, but TAA at times was playing as CB, right? with Matip as RB.

I kinda like it. TAA in the middle allows him to spray nice long passes, but he doesn't have to be too further forward in midfield to do that. and the defence wasn't too exposed either.

i'm sure it won't work with some games, but as for this game, wow it works quite well.

5.) 04 Sep 2023 03:12:52
If I recall, it's not the first time TAA slotted in at CB. He did it a few times last season as well. But he did swap with Matip when it was safe for him back to do so. Personally, I thought we looked much more solid defensively, definitely more than we have done for a long time.

6.) 04 Sep 2023 08:46:41
Dracred, did you notice as well that when Trent went inverted at times, Szobo was filling it at RB?

28 May 2021 13:09:35
Konate signed.

RobbosPress

1.) 28 May 2021 13:39:28
BOOM! On the club's official website.

2.) 28 May 2021 14:01:40
We signed a player that Ed001 said he wanted us to sign?!

Surely the curse has been lifted now.

Also, could it be time to dust off the old Dominic Solanke song that i’m not sure was ever actually a thing?

To the tune of Rihanna’s ‘Disturbia’:

‘Kon Kon Kee Kon Kon Kon Konate’

Any takers? No? Heavy.

{Ed0666's Note - if eds 001 knows who Rihanna is I’d be flabbergasted. Ric Astley & Barry Manilow is more his jam.

3.) 28 May 2021 14:17:45
Christ, if that’s the music of Ed001’s era then who was popular in Ed025’s prime? Mozart and Beethoven?

4.) 28 May 2021 14:33:20
I was thinking in fairness to Ed025 he would be more of The Scaffold or Hermanns Hermits man.

{Ed025's Note - kanye west is more my style barry.....just kidding its abba mate..

5.) 28 May 2021 15:24:05
The oldest known song was created in 100 AD. Called the Seikilos Epitaph. Signed by Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - hey!!!, i resemble that remark ArAy.. :)

6.) 28 May 2021 15:51:48
Great to see you back Ed025 and hope all is well.

{Ed025's Note - cheers darragh, im doing ok thanks mate..

7.) 28 May 2021 16:34:42
I'd say you style yourself on Peter Noone, kipper tie and all😂.

{Ed025's Note - well i have been a hermit for the past number of weeks barry mate.. :)

8.) 28 May 2021 18:42:33
😁 very good Ed025.

I was reading an article somewhere (could be anywhere) but it wasn't here so how can you trust it? Anyway I just realised that every time someone writes anything about xP and xG they have to explain what xP and xG is. Literally filling paper with the biggest dro.

RobbosPress

1.) 02 Aug 2020 05:43:44
I’ve no idea what xP and xG is so very grateful for constant explanations.

2.) 02 Aug 2020 06:28:33
Glue?

3.) 02 Aug 2020 08:09:02
Over the last 2 seasons we have been extremely consistent and even though we have suffered injuries we’ve also realistically had the rub of the green where none of our front 3 or VVD have been missing for extended periods. I think City, Utd and Chelsea will strengthen Massively but only City are capable of amassing the points we have managed over the last 2 seasons so although the others will improve its still a massive gap to make up. The tripping point for us will be whether this amazing team can go a third season on the bounce showing the consistency that they have. 3 consecutive years at the level we have shown will be a tough feat . The key again for me will be the front 3 and VVD.

4.) 02 Aug 2020 08:21:10
Experience points in football? Milner must have thousands!

5.) 02 Aug 2020 12:46:25
Just googled it and xP and xG have something to do with two-way radios and portable generators. Hope that clears things up.

Scored goals for fun using that pace in Germany. Just could not bring it over to the PL.

If true, maybe it's just protecting Matip's value. Decent squad player, very experienced and quality on the ball. If the replacement we want isn't available in the summer, we can always wait like we did for Bellingham. Lol!

Matip and Thiago may have their injury issues but, they can still offer something as squad players, experience for 1 and aparently they're both very liked within the squad, which is also very good for new players coming into the squad. We, as fans only ever think of playing time but, if the coaching staff and club think they deserve a new contract for whatever reason, I'm with them.

Thiago's football brain alone is worth a contract I believe, having him around young players is invaluable, both on and off the pitch.

I'd rather keep Thiago for the season and lose him for free in the summer. He is still quality but he's had to play too many games the past few seasons because of injuries, then he picks up his own injuries because of that. I think he has a lot to offer this season if his minutes are managed better.

If Rafa was in charge under these owners now, do posters think Rafa would be a good fit for the club. I think he could have been as successful as Klopp has been but, the football wouldn't be as entertaining and I don't think he could keep pace with the consistency of Man City under Pep. I believe he could have got a lot more trophies if he was backed in the transfer windows.

I love Rafa, he's Liverpool through and through. I remember hearing that Rafa was making changes to the youth set up and it never seemed to materialise. Ed001, thanks as always for the education, nowhere else on the web has this type of info and that's what sets this website apart.

RobbosPress

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

Harry, difference this season is there's no real long term injuries since the summer window apart from Matip, who probably needed replaced in the summer anyway. Liverpool don't need to spend in January and don't have any major weaknesses in the squad.

Differnce between summer and January is price, mo chara.

Agree with Salah and Davey, we don't need to spend in January but if 1 of our targets is available (release clause etc. ) Go for it. I don't think we'll trigger any clauses in Ignacio's contract though. I think we're well stocked across the field.

Jota coming back from injury is a massive boost goals wise, though a lot of people on here don't rate him. I think we'd have been well worth 6 points against utd and Arsenal.

Agree with Redcork here, a point away at Brighton is a good result in the circumstances, they're a quality side and under appreciated by many. We came away with a point from a team that will take plenty of points off every team in the top half this season, home and away.

We should be better defensively though and we should be good enough to close a game like that out but all in all, no complaints from me. We need to remember where we were last season and where we are this season, big transition but still doing very well.
