Question for eds (if you have the time) and reds.

This season we were a third tier team in the champions league (I think) which seems weird seeing as we made the final.

When will it be decided what tier Liverpool will be in next season? Will winning or not winning the league make a difference, and what other factors are considered?

Robbiesline

{Ed002's Note - Winning league or CL will be pot 1 - else pot 2 or 3 depending on ranking and who else qualifies.}

1.) 05 Feb 2019 07:30:57
The pot you go in is based on European performance over the last 5 years I believe? But if you win the league or champions league you automatically go in pot 1. We were on the cusp of pot 2/ 3 this year so at a guess I think if we beat Bayern that will probably bump us up into pot 2 but a lot has to do with who qualifies.

No word of a lie, I saw timo werner near wlva rd. In a grey mazzarati. God knows why. Reckon he will be a liverpool player next year.

Robbiesline

1.) 02 Feb 2019 20:40:09
Or Everton?

2.) 02 Feb 2019 20:43:47
Think he was supposed to go to Blackpool.

3.) 03 Feb 2019 10:29:48
Timo was in a grey Walter Mazzarri? Got nothing against it, but I didn’t know Walter had gone grey already. But if he is signing, then it’s good to know he’s enjoying the sights and attractions of Liverpool already. 👍.

4.) 03 Feb 2019 18:50:01
‘God knows why’ 😂😂.

Hi ed02 (or anyone, eds or reds)

Do we still have interest in the young full back from Bristol City?

Robbiesline

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing new.}

1.) 10 Jan 2019 10:13:36
i very much doubt they would sell him mid season! potentially one for the summer but i imagine most big clubs would be looking at him, having a very good season!

2.) 10 Jan 2019 10:18:17
Lloyd Kelly could be a very smart purchase, he’s a big, quick, mobile, a good defender and a good footballer (he dominates players who are a lot older than him) . He can also cover left back comfortably as well as centre back. To my mind he looks like he has the ability to step up, the same way Rob Jones did.

3.) 10 Jan 2019 10:41:52
Id take another rob jones alright!

Unbelievable season

Golden gloves
Golden boot
Player of the year
Least games lost
Champions league finalists

Amazing season

One last step to crown it, i have no doubt we will. You don't come away from seasons like this empty handed.

Robbiesline

1.) 12 May 2019 16:57:28
Joint golden boot. Salah, Mane, Aubamayang.

2.) 12 May 2019 16:59:05
& yet again we came short in the league #unbelievable.

3.) 12 May 2019 17:10:44
I'm proud of this team. :)

11 May 2019 00:36:03
What is it about cup finals? The fan is contrasted, both chuffed to be in the final and looking forward to seeing us lift a major trophy. But also the fear of losing is horrible. Its unbearable. I can't relax, its all so tight right now.

We have taken it to the last game of the season. It has been unreal how quickly we have progressed. Keeping up with, and for large parts sitting above, city. Who blew everyone away last season.

Proud to be a lfc fan. Feel sick when i think of the final. I honestly think we will win the ucl and i have an odd feeling that there's going to be a surpise tomorrow. In either our game or city's.

Robbiesline

1.) 11 May 2019 02:07:01
hopefully we win the prem tomorrow then we can relax in the CL fan.

2.) 11 May 2019 05:51:36
I have a horrible feeling we will both draw tomorrow.

3.) 11 May 2019 07:38:55
I'm a supersticious person and whilst I would like to stay away from predictions, I do believe it's our destiny to win the league this season. Chris Houghton was the manager of a relegated Norwich side who beat City 2-3 on the final day of their title defence. Just in hope that we ll do our job and history repeats itself. But take nothing from City, they've given it a huge huge fight but so have we. It's only over after it's over!
I Believe.

08 May 2019 21:28:18
At the beginning of the season the question was asked; would we rather win the pl or the ucl? Most people, myself included said the prem.

But i think it was because we didn't really believe we could make 2 ucl finals in a row.

Now we are in the final and still have a chance at the league and for me, i would much rather win the champions league. It is the bigger trophy, more prestigious and 6 times winners has a nice ring to it.

Thoughts?

Robbiesline

{Ed025's Note - what a crock, dont get me wrong robbie the CL is a great trophy to win, but lets be honest the prem is the one you reds wanted more than any other mate but now its looking a bit unlikely you are changing your tune...its ok to be honest..

1.) 08 May 2019 21:36:59
Everyone wanted the league. I'm sure if people could still trade now, we'll take the league over the cup.

{Ed025's Note - definitely realtofel, the CL would be a great consolation though mate..

2.) 08 May 2019 21:42:14
League lol day long.

3.) 08 May 2019 21:46:12
Ed25, I wanted (and still want) both if possible BUT if someone gave me some truth serum, the PL all day long for me.

{Ed025's Note - i think you all did red wolf in truth, mainly because its been far too long since you held the title of english champions mate, its not over yet though even though i think the chances are slim..

4.) 08 May 2019 21:48:11
Anything, beggars can’t be choosers!

5.) 08 May 2019 22:11:23
I will take both thanks.

6.) 08 May 2019 22:14:51
I know I'm in the small minority with this opinion but I would go for the UCL every time. Simply because it crowns the best team in Europe, and perhaps the World (if you accept that European football is the best) . My memories of some of those finals from the 70's onwards are just magical.

But within the context of Liverpool, I can understand why winning the EPL is equally important, if not more. For the simple reason that we still have not won it. Winning it would declare we are back on track and in our rightful place (hint of my arrogance as a LFC supporter coming through, I see it, LOL) .

7.) 08 May 2019 22:07:53
No im being honest ed025. Yeah, we want the premier league and still might win it.

But ask gerrard if he would swap his cl medal for a pl medal.

But yeah, you're right. I admitted to wanting the league. If we win the cl and city win the pl who would be the most envious?

{Ed025's Note - city desperately want the CL robbie thats true because they have never won that, its the same with liverpool they have never won the premier league so its the same for them mate...but you keep convincing yourself my friend..

8.) 08 May 2019 22:12:19
Youre right ed025, i have changed my tune.

But, if you said at the start of thr season you are guaranteed either the prem or the cl i would have taken the cl. I dunno, im talking cods##t

Cl as a consolation though. Its an odd sentence mate.

{Ed025's Note - its great consolation robbie by you are not quite there yet mate, you could win 2..1..or 0 and its very exciting thats for sure, give a thought to the rest of us poor sods who,s season finished before christmas..

9.) 09 May 2019 00:47:36
at this point, i'd take any silverware we can get.

We are all struggling to put last night into words. But i have the perfect one:

BOOM!

Robbiesline

1.) 08 May 2019 13:48:56
Can I just echo that please

2.) 08 May 2019 14:41:40
Quadruple BOOM!

3.) 08 May 2019 15:14:33
Thoughts that were proved true yesterday:

1. It's never over until its over
2. Miracles do happen.
In view of this, I believe BHA will aid us to 20-19 and we ll win the UCL.
The double it is lads! After last night, It's very possible.

As a boy we used to pooh in the away dressing room toilets and not flush. Dunno what effect it had but it made us feel better.

4.) 23 Apr 2019 19:36:29
Er OP, why are we knowing any of this, exactly?

5.) 23 Apr 2019 20:47:43
😂 where to start?

6.) 23 Apr 2019 21:26:07
That sort of thing could ‘Tigger’ quite the reaction from the other team 😉.

Good point aggerdo.

Klopp hasn't made many blunders in the transfer market. Only karius and even he did ok bar the final. Klavan came good in the end. Matip has been very good lately. I think grujic would be a great addition, especially if lallana leaves, which looks likely.

What is markovic's problem? He came with a decent reputation, I've seen him play well once or twice. I'm surprised he never gets a look in.

Is he really that bad a player or is it something else.

I agree Bobby b, we aren't getting enough goals from midfield. FSG were obviously willing to finance the deal. I think he has proved the injury to his knee is not a major problem. Just like klopp and Liverpool to pull off a major signing towards the end of the window.

Chelsea don't seem to mind selling to us, good little player who could prove to provide decent cover for our wingers.

Ed01, i read your reply to one of the posts, i quote "lovely guy but crap manager" totally right. Bless him. Yeah i get the speedo thing too of course. I mean their left back was almost non league level. Amazing how they got so far.

And that goal where he does the cryff turn, can't remember his name, double baralled i think, went to west brom? Robbie savage was raving about it comparing it to ronaldo and messi. But anyone who can kick a ball knows the cryff turn is the easiest trick, "robson-something"

Robbiesline

{Ed001's Note - Robson-Kanu. Not just that but it wasn't even that good. Coleman did well but it was not going to last and he got it before it went bad. Only to take over at Sunderland and take them down.}

Mane red card against city last season.

Mane was simply going for the ball like any goal hungry striker would.

It was early in the game and we got hammered. I thought it was crazy, it was a yellow all day. Or even not a foul. Football is a contact sport.

It completely changed the game. City are hard enough with your best 11, but 10 men and still trying to win.

Its weird that, coleman took wales to the semi finals of the European championship. Then took every club he went to the leahue below.

Robbiesline

{Ed001's Note - he took over at Wales and just kept things as they were. It was easy to motivate the players, he was a good friend of Gary Speed, they all loved Speedo, so just hype em up with the thought of doing it for Speed, usually involving his dad in the process to help. Once the Euros were over, the team needed an overhaul and that is why he needed to move on.}

Me too, we will win it next year. With an intergrated fabhino and keita. Aoc back. Trent maturing, gomez fit. Robbo getting better and better. Origi's improvement. Hendo playing more advanced. Gini getting the recognition he deserves. Alisson more settled.

City beat us at the etihad. Had we drawn we would have won the league. They deserve the title. But the mighty reds are back and i think we will only improve. City's season was slightly worse than their previous one.
