Re: Florian Wirtz

The latest update I have been told on the 'grapevine' is that Michael Edwards travelled by ship to Boston with a giant full can of WD40.

This was so he could use it to prise open the FSG's rusty money chest as it hasn't been opened in years.

HAHA BOOM BOOM!

I think your username sums that one up nicely!

Best of luck to TTA. He has won everything there is to win with LFC. Let's not begrudge him, he has given us everything in terms of effort.

Gutted but it is football at the end of the day and we move on. No one is bigger than the club.

It kind of reminds me of McManaman when he left to go to Real Madrid. Difference was that Ged had just taken over and was re-building whereas we are pretty much top of the pile and will only get better with the right signings.

Van Dijk and Salah have to stay to sweeten the bitter pill of Trent's departure but in all honesty we all knew that Trent would go, again nobody is bigger than the club but if those 2 go then it leaves a gaping hole in our team that will be very hard to replace.

McManaman left. we won the cup treble a couple of years later.

Owen left. we won the Champions League the next season.

Sterling left. we eventually built a world class multiple trophy winning team under Jurgen Klopp.

Life goes on.

bog - totally get your point and agree but just having a little chuckle at Sterling's name being included in that list :D.

Outstanding post, Bog Standard. And to add to that, we all thought we wouldn't get a RB anywhere near Trent and yet, we found Bradley who is a baller in his own right. Life goes on.

Too much is being thrust upon Bradley. The guy cannot stay fit for more than 5 minutes and his game is all about high intensity, which means he will continue to get injured. A lot.

Personally, I don't mind if Nunez stays another season. We are still going to buy another striker anyway. The death of Diogo Jota just reinforces the requirement for another forward and another striker.

I just feel with Wirtz playing through balls to Nunez he will score quite a lot this season. if he stays of course.

Sounds like utter to$h

Why would Kerkez go to Utd? They have Dorgu.

Huijsen maybe going to Madrid but have a sneaky feeling that he will sign for us.

I think it was John W. Henry who made the final decision to hire Arne Slot after reviewing tons of data amongst other attributes such as personality, experience etc.

Henry is very, very analytical. It was what was influential whittling it down to 2 candidates last time: Jurgen Klopp or Carlo Ancelotti.

FSG have loaned Liverpool around £1 BILLION in the last 15 years which includes purchase of club, purchase of new players and agents fees, building new infrastructure and expanding Anfield as well as a brand new training ground.

They brought in Jurgen Klopp who achieved great success with us. Now they have brought in Arne Slot who will win us the title in his first season. The club is world class with valuable players.

Liverpool is now worth £5 BILLION to FSG. They have run LFC wisely and prudently and made some very shrewd decisions on and off the pitch.

FSG will not hesitate to spend big on one player if they feel it is worth it.

What's not to like?

I simply do not understand what Hughes role is at the club. Surely he must have a hand in negotiating player contract renewals? If so, what has he been doing these 6 months at the club? Twiddling his thumbs?

Ward and Hughes do not inspire much confidence in me.

Letting the 3 of the most important players run their contracts down and negotiate at the last minute (if Ed 001 is right that negotiations have only just started) is purely madness.

What is Edwards role in all this? Sitting in a plush leather chair and relaxing?

Utter shambles.

{Ed001's Note - Hughes is in charge of recruitment, nothing to do with contract renegotiations. That is Julian Ward's remit.}
