Hey Ed's is Gordon an option in the summer?
0
{Ed001's Note - what do you mean by option?}
1
16 Apr 2026 10:50:57
That's all we need, another player who likes to fiddle with his hair mid game.
0
16 Apr 2026 10:57:53
He uses Silvikrin...because he's worth it...
1
16 Apr 2026 11:08:35 Come on @Bobby. Everybody knows that was L'Oreal.
16 Apr 2026 09:30:39
I'm not suggesting anything in relation to LFC but isn't Kompany doing some job at Munich?? I thought what when they appointed him to the role but I must say I was wrong. I know they're running away with the BL as usual and I only see them in CL action but they play some great football! Bit lax at the rear but fantastic engine and attacking footie.
PSG will beat them though imo. They're just too good overall. I also thought Olise bar his fantastic goal was a bit meahh compared to the first leg. Anyway great team and fair play to VK I say!

16 Apr 2026 10:24:16
I fully expected Kompany, with his limited experience at Burnley, to not do well at Bayern.
Yes, it is Bayern and it's a bit like PSG in France, so you'd struggle to not do well, but Klopp and Alonso showed that Bayern are not invincible, so you have to be doing OK to be pushing them into the semis in the UCL.
I believe Kompany is Pep's natural heir at City. Him on City's bench and Xabi on ours - lovely!
3
16 Apr 2026 11:03:44 Kompany actually seems to be a very strong manager who gets his players to give their all. Seems like someone you don't mess with. 👌
1
16 Apr 2026 11:11:08 Fancy Munich over PSG to be honest, more physicality too.
16 Apr 2026 08:07:33
The only thing I am clinging to from this season, is that slot will be gone at the end of it.
However everywhere I look bar here, is reporting he will be staying on next season no matter what.
Ed001 please say it ain't so and that FSG cannot be that stupid to keep the man on, when in reality he couldn't run a bath well let alone this Liverpool team.
4
{Ed001's Note - they see it similar to Klopp's time, that this could be just a blip and Slot can turn it around.}
1
16 Apr 2026 08:29:03
Let's imagine that they are right (and there is a remote possibility that they are, though if they had faith in their man, I can't fathom why they didn't back him in January when he clearly wanted reinforcements in central defense at the very least), surely the fact that fans in the grounds (that is, not online fans and people continually plugged into the football social mediasphere) have turned on the manager will force their hand? Unless Slot puts together an incredible run the last few games and we start looking like an absolute top team that will return to the top next season, which looks rather unlikely, even if it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility.
0
16 Apr 2026 08:40:07
His contract ends in 13 months' time.
It doesn't feel like they're backing him to me.
It feels like they're being cautious about the press until they've secured the next man (or woman) in.
Either way, I can't see him getting a contract extension.
This blip in performance has been going on at least 14 months. Yes, we won the league last May, but that was mostly due to early season results. We limped over the line.
7
16 Apr 2026 08:53:41
Replacing Slot means replacing Edwards and Hughes too. They won't go back on a manager that won the league. If we qualify for CL, as abysmal as this season has been, it can be written off in monetary sense.
Slot has been out of ideas, but I think he will get another chance as long as Edward and Hughes are here.
I don't mind it, to be honest, as success is not a guarantee with new manager and with names being thrown around I don't see immediate success with them.
If it were someone like Enrique or Pep or even Simeone (yea can't believe is used Enrique Pep and Simeone in one sentence lol) I'd be on the Slot out wagon all day.
But I have no real sense of confidence in an Alonso Iraolo or Hoeness or whoever in changing us overnight.
Slot did well in first season (whatever reasons you may want to call it) and then went hopeless in second. I think we need a third season to give a final verdict.
To be honest, top4 finish and quarter final in CL is not a hopeless season. Could have prioritised a cup, but we drew City, so thats just hardluck.

{Ed025's Note - seriously?..
12
16 Apr 2026 09:01:40
No way another year of this dross, he has to go before he turns us into mid table mediocrity.
7
16 Apr 2026 09:15:30
Cafu, you just made all that up as you typed along.
"Success isn't guaranteed even with a new manager" - A) Actually, it is. Top managers win things with good players - period. B) The risk is worth taking if it means getting rid of Slot.
"...
is not a hopeless season" - Err, yes it is. In fact, it's worse than hopeless. To go from winning the league to scrapping for 5th with no trophies demonstrates one of the worst individual seasons of coaching I've ever seen.
Slot needs to go, simple as that.
8
16 Apr 2026 09:15:58
Ron, what happened? You have been backing Slot all season. Saying stuff like we are still in the cups, and still in the top five race. You believed he could turn it around. And now you've suddenly switched sides and no longer trust him?

I honestly think I'd stop watching football if he stays. It's become so boring. I find myself second screening through our games. What games have you enjoyed watching this season? Genuinely enjoyed? Real Madrid is the only one that sticks in my memory. I didn't honestly enjoy last season. Obviously it was great we won but what were the stand out moments? The memories that make your hairs stand on end? I really can't remember any. Think of all of the moments we had under Klopp. Him losing his glasses against Norwich, Oxlade Chamberlain's rocket against City, Lovren's winner against Dortmund, Origi's winner against Everton.
They just go on and on. They stick in your memory because the football was thrilling. It was entertaining. Our football now is the opposite. It's like paying to watch the same s*** film over and over again. I will always Liverpool but what is happening is creating apathy. I've stopped caring. And I don't mean this to come across as moaning that we're not challenging. I'd much rather watch us lose every game 4-3 like Real did last night than the insipid football that is currently being served up.
10
16 Apr 2026 09:48:25
I agree with that flidby, if Slot stays, I will take a break from football until he's gone.
9
16 Apr 2026 10:03:37
I keep thinking of Theoden at Helm's Deep: "How did it come to this?"
I've been coming to this page for over a decade now and I don't think I've ever seen fans saying they'll take a break if the manager stays (not a criticism, lads, I get it, we are so boring to watch), but again, how did it come to this? It feels like Slot has drained out all the life Klopp breathed back into this club.

Thanks ed001 - I think what worries me if he is staying, that his style of football is so turgid and he doesn't seem to be able adapt.
The couple of games we have looked good, when we played the old style against villa and Madrid earlier in the season, you would have thought he would say to himself "ok, that works".
But he seems fixated and unwilling to adapt and this fawning over PSG is nauseating. Just excuses all the time. Heavy metal football to primary school recorder class (where everything is out of tune) in the space of 14 months.

{Ed001's Note - that made me laugh that analogy. Such a good one.}

16 Apr 2026 09:36:17
Hi Ed1,
I remember a few months ago you said the expectation was Slot would go in the summer.
Is that still expected or have things changed?
Thanks
1
{Ed001's Note - the expectation is he will go home, yes. But his choice. He has not settled in the UK, he has not even tried to.}
2
16 Apr 2026 10:15:48
"I think we need a third season to give a final verdict."
Would you have given Hodgson another season, just to make sure?
Or would you have given Rodgers another season, just to make sure?
I'm sorry, but the evidence is already available. Slot has shown over a sustained period of time that he is not up to the job.
He's turned Anfield from a fortress to a playground for our opponents. He has no idea how to organise a midfield or defence, and it's been that way for all of this season.
A third season with Slot ends in a relegation battle. He has no idea how to fix this, and it will get worse, not better.

16 Apr 2026 10:09:27
Hi ed001,
Just on your comment regarding the owners seeing the slot situation as a blip, do you really think Slot will stay?
Cheers
Drogie
1
{Ed001's Note - I believe he is unhappy in England and wants to go home.}
2
16 Apr 2026 10:22:17
Jesus give us mercy.
Slot putting us out of our misery more than the other 2 morons.
Unbelievable.
Hopefully Arne will do the right thing and leave.
Would be worried about the future if this is the standard Hughes and Edwards seem to be acceptable of.
You were right about them Ed mate!

16 Apr 2026 10:27:24
Purely guessing I'd reckon ed1 is right, don't think he wants to be here.
I also have that feeling something must've happened slot as in his 1st season he looked the new Johan cruyff and 2nd season he looks poor version of Mike Bassett. Something must've happened for him to take his eye off ball so much that he looks so poor and clueless now. My guess is that he has family problems due to him being away.
I don't buy it that he was lucky last season, granted he got bit of luck with city declining but we still had to go and do it and get it over line which isn't as simple as people like to make out. Arsenal perfect example this season, the league actually worse this season than ever and they still struggling to get over line even with there massive squad

16 Apr 2026 10:45:28
So do they try to talk him around Ed? or be kinda happy that they're been given a way out?

{Ed001's Note - I think they would prefer him to stay.}

16 Apr 2026 10:58:06
C0ffan
I've consistently said it should all be reviewed at the end of the season or if we were mathematically unable to qualify for the CL.
I've never "backed him" per se. I've just been 'against mid-season sacking' for the sake of it.

16 Apr 2026 11:08:36 The club is run by business people who make decisions when they think the time is right, they do not have it spread all over the media, they keep their cards close to their chests. Regarding Slot, they will have assessed his performances over the season and look into all other aspects, such as injuries, players' loss of form, and could he make major improvements to the team and to his performances as head coach. They will then make their decision whether Slot goes or stays, and who is available to replace him, and they will have spoken to probably several potential replacements, and we will all find out their decision at the end of the season. So chill your beans people!!! YNWA

Bayern v Madrid, 2 great games, proper football... I watched the Arsenal highlights... Well if you could call it highlights, like night n day the difference.

16 Apr 2026 08:31:40
Kind of hard to stomach that this lot are going to win the Premier League. They had 1 shot on target and 0.64 xg at home.
1
16 Apr 2026 09:22:54
Patrik, I have been saying for months that I fully believe Arsenal will not win the league and I still stand by that.
2
16 Apr 2026 11:06:37 I think Arsenal will blottle it, City will win 6 of their last 7 and clinch it on the final day!
0
16 Apr 2026 11:13:24 Athletico v Arsenal, the prince of dark arts versus his apprentice. It should be some sight, those two managers on the line. No one will watch the football. They will be watching the antics of them lunatics.
0
16 Apr 2026 11:26:09 I think Atleti Arsenal might actually be quite an interesting watch, Atleti can't defend this season, but they have Griezmann, Sorloth and Alvarez all in excellent form. Arsenal can defend, obviously, but can't seem to create or score to save their lives. You're right about the histrionics of both managers, Albey, Arteta on the sidelines has been a sideshow in itself lately.
15 Apr 2026 23:13:22
Do we have a buyback on Kelleher and if not why the b***** hell didn’t we. I so wanted Marmadashvili to be the one but nevermind being a million miles away from Allison he’s unfortunately just not good enough. He is at times a very good shot stopper. He made a brilliant save at 1 stage last night, but only because he caused their opportunity to happen. He had a very simple catch but opted to punch & they ended up with a shot from it (which, as I said, he made a good save from).
No point in going on about his distribution, both out of his hands and with his feet, as everyone can see it’s just nowhere close to Ali, but then again he spoiled us for years; it’s just how injury prone he has become that’s sadly become a massive massive problem.

You do realise Alisson is staying until the end of next season. Jaros is a good GK as well as Pesci.

16 Apr 2026 03:45:23
None of anything is this guy's fault, fella... Dig a bit deeper is what I've done.
1
16 Apr 2026 07:50:44
Yeeah I would sell Marma and bleed through the other two younger keepers. In the little I have seen of Jaros, I think he has a high ceiling.
15 Apr 2026 22:10:55
Should not laugh at Real Madrid being knocked out. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂
17
15 Apr 2026 23:30:18
Yes we should. 😁

15 Apr 2026 23:41:37
We are in no position to laugh at any club.
15
16 Apr 2026 06:16:49
Fk is right. We are W3 D1 L6 in our last 10 games. Absolute s***cakes.

16 Apr 2026 07:08:34
Remember the good old days when we used to track our great unbeaten run (good old days of earlier in this season).
I miss those posts... unbeaten in 10, unbeaten in 12... etc. (no need to mention that of those unbeaten games, most were draws).
So, 6 left in the season... let's aim for another unbeaten streak. 💪
3
16 Apr 2026 07:36:15
Ah, you see Frode, that's missing out on one of the great joys with football. No matter how bad things go with your team, there will always be somebody else you can laugh at.
3
16 Apr 2026 09:23:50
Thank God for that, Wassa!!! 🤣 🙄... Hopefully we'll be laughing again on Sunday!!

16 Apr 2026 09:29:37
What little joy there is to be had this season, seeing Madrid failing is one of those lovely moments of schadenfreude. Mbappe really does have the faecal touch. Left PSG for them to become European champions, joins Madrid and they've not won a trophy in two years. Beautiful. As for Arnold Rat, how's that Balon D'or coming on? Does it mean more yet? And, as a side note, anyone seriously suggesting we look at signing Camavinga, just look at his brain dead sending off.
Completely needless and helped his own side to lose the match. Bloke is as thick as he is injury prone. Hard pass.

16 Apr 2026 09:35:18
Love it VV!
1
16 Apr 2026 09:38:02
I'd still have Trent back in the morning though. Not under Slot but certainly under XA. We went from him to Frimpong. Make your own comparisons to that one.
1
16 Apr 2026 09:53:27
Imagine wanting a player that wants to be somewhere else. Trent wanted to leave, and most likely for the lifestyle. Have more self respect for this club. I want players that want to be here. He planned his "dream move" years ago, and there are fans still pining for him back.
2
16 Apr 2026 10:41:06
I'm not pining for him back, Ron. I just believe that he is a good football player and one of the best passers of the ball I've ever seen. We've already gone through the pro and anti Trent arguments last year and I have zero interest in revisiting that one.
All I am doing is making a comparison and expressing my wish that he had stayed rather than gone, which was his prerogative to make after serving this club in one of our greatest ever teams with distinction.
15 Apr 2026 22:07:42
Great finish to the Bayern/Real match, but what a vile club with vile players Madrid really is. Guller runs from the bench at the final whistle to confront and shout at the ref, gets a deserved red card for his penance. Vinicus Junior, what a self entitled little p###k of a human being. Delighted for him. What I will say in his defence is that Mbappe is gracious in defeat, same can't be said for most of his team mates.
Personally I'm delighted Bayern won it in the end with goals from Lucio and Olisie to wrap it up. Hope they win the whole thing out, best attacking team in Europe, but there will be nothing between them and PSG over 2 legs.

{Ed025's Note - what a game that promises to be Zippy..

15 Apr 2026 22:31:30
...And en ers Arsenal. The killers of football.....
15 Apr 2026 21:59:53
Isn't it great to see those nobs go out of the CL. Love it.
9
15 Apr 2026 22:19:14
Of course, but watching the two teams, you need top attacking wing players to be exciting and successful. We've zero. Rio's raw, and has plenty of time, but we need two top wingers on each side next season.
6
15 Apr 2026 22:27:35
Saying that all season.
2
15 Apr 2026 23:27:02
Agreed, Ron, bewilders me how many people on here don't think bringing in 2 wingers is a priority.
0
15 Apr 2026 23:53:28
Moreso now with Salah gone, and Ekitike out for almost a year. Definitely need investment in wide areas.... we will probably end up with one and then get two injuries to the forwards!
If Isak is to be the main man, then u need to service him from wide and midfield.
That's the blueprint... fingers crossed he can get sharp and stay fit.
A defensive minded midfielder, Szob move to cm mostly, and Wirtz must improve at 10. Physically and end product wise, he must elevate his game, which I do believe he's capable of.
0
16 Apr 2026 07:59:02
I have been saying this all season. We need to get back to 4-3-3. Isak/Ekitike to lead the line, fast, direct paced wingers who like to take on players. Wirtz in the no. 10, then hopefully Anderson and Szobzlai providing the legs/engine in cm.
You cannot play on the front foot without pace in the forward areas.
This will also benefit Wirtz, who can feed the front 3. Furthermore, it will help the rest of the team, as each player will know their role, whereas we are changing formations and tactics regularly, with players' roles changing from game to game. No wonder why it's a sham.
