Curious now that it looks like Caicedo is off to Chelsea - who should we go for?

Still Lavia or is someone else our target?

Question on yesterday's match whilst watching it and it was the first time, I've seen it this bad.
There seemed to be huge gaps down Robertsons side, all the first half and Wolves simply had to put a diagonal ball down there and they were in dangerous positions all the time, thank god Traore couldn't do anything with it.
What has happened to our midfield and how is it getting pulled all over the place so badly?
The press from the front seemed OK but midfield just seemed to have no idea anymore.
Do you think it was confusing tactics or have the legs just gone.
We have class players, who seem to be totally out of form all together which is a horrible situation to be in but form will return. The worry is, how long will it take?
Sorry bit of a ramble.

Our midfield doesn’t have legs to cover the grounds. Simples. We have the oldest midfield in the league and this is what you get! I don’t think we are playing any possession football. That’s plain wrong. We can’t keep the ball how exactly do you think we could play possession football?

2.) 08 Jan 2023 13:18:23
There’s a multitude of issues now. Legs, tactics, belief.

Klopp has said a couple of things in his last two pressers which may give some clues. Something about pressing coming from the heart and something else about conviction in the challenges/ duels.

He’s got his work cut out to rescue this season, again.

Thiago moves inside, he’s usually around the centre circle, so we almost become a 4-2-4.
I presume that this is by design as it’s a regular feature.
In the past you had Mane and Robertson, with Virgil behind them, on that flank and that was enough to mostly ward off attacks, which tended to concentrate on the weaker RH side.
I suppose Wolves were looking to capitalise on Traore’s pace though, he has been the outlet for them when playing Liverpool in the past.
Pointless trying to waste Thiago asking him to track that though.
We can’t seal the pitch up you know ?.
Anyone would think that other teams have no right to attack us, reading these pages.

The press from the front is by no means ok. Mo doesn’t work and we don’t have Mane. It is a very different team up front now and will take time to get that right. Robbo gambles and misses a lot when he presses beyond half way. You don’t need to be 22 with Usaian bolt speed to cover that, you need the team to be in sync.

Spot on, Juicer. We are not that team anymore OP so maybe we should tweak things a bit more esp since Diaz not Jota aren’t there fir now to help do Mane’s dogwork. And yes, heaven forbid a team actually tries to find vulnerable spots in our system to attack.

Hi all, long time reader but first time of posting.
An outside thought and probably way, way too late now but would you consider Martin Kelly coming back as a stop gap if he was available?

Isn't Kelly a RB? And injury prone?

2.) 28 Jan 2021 17:43:42
He was primarily RB for us, but it was always said he could play either position. Any time I saw him in the Palace lineup in the past couple of years he was at CB.

That being said, he's not only injury prone, but is now down the pecking order when fit, I believe. He's made 1 appearance all season.

3.) 28 Jan 2021 19:46:42
He very badly tore his hamstring on the hoof at West Ham for us, I remember the day well.
He was never the same player as a RB again either unfortunately.

4.) 28 Jan 2021 20:59:36
That’s right juicer. Had been great for us and got an England call up with hopes high. Nice lad too by all accounts.

5.) 28 Jan 2021 22:02:48
He was in champions league side too wasnt it. burning up and down the wing. he looked a real talent.

Is there any truth in the rumours about Newcastle wanting to take Quansah as part of the deal, or is it just pure Twitter speculation?

For me, Gordon would be a major downgrade on what we already have.
