Any one interested in a gofundme being set up to help buy a new keeper?

1.) 23 Dec 2017 11:28:19
Our manager rates our keepers highly.

2.) 23 Dec 2017 11:29:34
Put the money toward a lawyer and prosecute mignolet for stealing a living.

3.) 23 Dec 2017 11:34:03
We don't need to buy a GK yet, we have Karius.

4.) 23 Dec 2017 12:09:58
Think both karius and ward could be good keepers but still think we need to go out and get a top class keeper as a priority if we are going to really challenge for top spot. Man u, Chelsea spurs all have keepers that earn them points, ours cost us.
We need to spend on a commanding keeper and cb over any other position.

5.) 23 Dec 2017 12:53:58
We have the money to buy a very good keeper now, but we won't do it, although how many are actually available to move atm? Genuine question there and I don't mean your Harts or your Pickfords, we need better! Oh and how much has our goalkeeping coach done to this situation, Migs has hardly improved the whole time he's been with us and some of that has to be levelled at coaching staff!

{Ed002's Note - But never at Klopp}

6.) 23 Dec 2017 13:33:01
In my defence Ed, I said some of that blame, Klopp deserves a lot for the idea of keeping 3 keepers happy at the club and it's not working, as I predicted in the summer!

24 Oct 2017 11:23:15
Not posted in a while or looked on here due to our woeful form and knowing there will be some bad reactions.

I've enjoyed watching some of our football with klopp as I did at first with Rodgers. Both seemed to find a very good attacking way of playing for the first season or two but then neither addressed the glaringly obvious problem lfc have had for a long time. Our defence and gk.

We have needed a commanding confident keeper for years now and a controlling defender. If carragher had been in the team against spurs he would have ripped lovren to pieces. Our defence is too slow and cumbersome for this style of play. Last season we got away with it as we put most of our chances away. This year the team seems so low in confidence (except salah) I can't help but think this is due to the problems at the back seeping through fornthe players through out the team.

I had big expectations with klopps, and at first I was happy, but if he was such a good manager why hasn't he fixed the problem we have. Not the attack but the defence. Instead of chasing Chamberlain why not use the 35million on a cb? Why not make a statement sell lovren and migs and replace them? If he is so good why did he not have a second option instead of Virgil?

I'm not saying klopps out, but surely he should be asked what his plans are and why he is making the same mistake every week playing the same defence?

Just my thoughts after a torrid start.

1.) 24 Oct 2017 13:12:36
Agree to a large extent - Klopp has done a fantastic job going forward but defensively it’s been poor and we haven’t improved, whether that’s recruitment or Klopp I don’t know but clearly he has had too much faith in Migs and Lovren in re-signing their contracts and perhaps he could have been more demanding of replacements.

My other concern is we sold our only true DM and then has proceeded to mix and match on the deep CM role and in our style of defence (sometimes seems we’re caught between a high press and dropping deeper, and instead doing neither) . Not a bad thing to show willingness to adapt but too often that’s left Hendo isolated and our CBs left with 2 on 2 which is not sensible given their confidence and our current GK. How do other sides somehow always seem to be in two banks of 4 when we lose possession but we have 7 or 8 players stuck in front of the ball?

I think we’ve shown we can become more pragmatic in defence, and one away loss to a very good Tottenham side doesn’t kill our season (We’ve also played most of the top sides already) but I feel Klopp is under some form of pressure for the first time in his career at Liverpool. We have a glaring issue to solve that he’s so far shown an inability to correct. I reckon if he can’t solve in at least by the summer then this time next year many will be asking whether he’s able to solve it at all.

I hope he can, because if he can I believe he’ll take us all the way to the top.

2.) 24 Oct 2017 15:29:38
Defensive mistakes have cost us points. Let alone the keeper our defenders have made mistakes resulting in draws. Klopp has said the players he has wanted and gone for them alone. Breaking transfer rules and showing no respect to other clubs. I like the attacking football, but Rodgers had the same attack going forward and nothing at the back. Yes we have better players now, but again not at the back. We can't praise him for his attack whilst not blame him for the defence. He needs to sort it out b4 we are too far behind. We can still pull back our season it's not all doom and gloom, but shocking that the defence hasn't been fixed.

19 Aug 2017 21:43:05
Struggling to understand so many of these negative posts.
Have crystal palace not won their last 3 visits to anfield? Wasn't one of our biggest let down s last year we struggled to win ugly against park the bus teams? Isn't Henderson just coming back from a long term injury?
If we'd played 100 miles an hour football, bit failed to score would u be happier?
No it wasn't edge if seat football, no it wasn't Henderson's best game.
Yes we one, the players stayed focused organised and ground out a win against a team last season we lost at home to. We broke through a defensive team. Henderson showed he is in his way back from injury, we have players in the bench that male a change and players still to come back.
Not perfect, improvement needed. But I forgot still not good enough for most fans on here.
Grow up.

1.) 19 Aug 2017 22:36:59
I don't give a hoot how we win, just aslong as we do. Keep grinding out the victories.

2.) 19 Aug 2017 22:29:25
A win is a win lifelong. The table doesn't say 3 points but it wasn't great does it? I'm with you mate put the 3 points straight in the bag and on to Wednesday. Keep another clean sheet and we are in the Champions League.

3.) 19 Aug 2017 22:40:24
I agree mate cudnt believe how negative joey barton was about us on radio I know he's a blue but so biased, this was a big win for us due to there 3 past wins for them at anfield an even wid phil cout in team we cudnt beat them past 3 occasions, I would like too see firminio in att mid position an solanke or studge up front, firminio = workrate an attacking intent.

4.) 19 Aug 2017 22:51:22
Couldn't agree more! We can't keep a clean sheet. moan. Can't break down teams who park the bus. moan! Well we did both today so why the moan?
We won without playing well, something we struggled with last year.
The negativity is getting ridiculous at the moment. imagine what it'll be like when we get beat!

5.) 19 Aug 2017 22:53:55
Lifelong- it's the norm on here nowadays. Negativity is equated to "realism" and if you choose to see the positive then you got red tinted glasses on. Take for example today. 2 months of full on slating of Robertson before he joined. And yet the kid is doing well, and far better than expected. He will undoubtedly only improve. And the slaters are quiet and already moved on to their next victim (Henderson by the looks of it) . But your comment "grow up" is certainly very apt.

6.) 19 Aug 2017 23:45:38
5 changes to the team maybe some of them were with an eye on Wdnesday. Agree with Lifelongred too much negativity around a hard fought win.

7.) 19 Aug 2017 23:56:18
We spent last year moaning that we couldn't win ugly.

Today we win ugly and some are still moaning.

3 points and a clean sheet while rotating the squad for Hoffenheim.

Sturridge survived, new left back done well, as did Gomes in all fairness.

I'd take that as progress 2 games in.

8.) 20 Aug 2017 04:10:25
You should have seen the hyper critical bandwagon on the live chat it was a disgrace.

9.) 20 Aug 2017 07:55:37
Spot on, OP and Ra1969. The "fans" had their knives out for us to day and for Klopp BUT to their great disappointment, we won, kept a clean sheet, our back line smothered Benteke, Robbo had a very good game and we are 4th as of today. There is actually a lot to be disappointed about if you are a "fan" of LFC, rooting for us to fail so you can win some pathetic argument that only exist in the world that only you live in. But don't worry, these "fans" will be back as soon as we screw up ( cos we will) and there they will gratify us with their negativity I mean, realism.

05 Aug 2017 11:09:15
Would say I'm shocked to see the negativity on here regarding coutinho.
Yes he is a great player, but he is not the be all and end all of our team. Personally not fussed either way if he leaves or stays.
We still going to play every game either way so that's it.
If he goes we have plenty of options in the team already.
Personally I'd use it as a chance to play firmino in his natural position and play a fluid 4 3 3.
Back 4 of who ever we end up with, then there is an abundance of choice for the 2 deeper midfielders who would add extra defence and then break forward, with firmino just in front behind Salah, mane and a striker.
We could go all out and buy the best striker we could an use sturridge as sub.
We have plenty of midfield cover as it is.

Just my personal opinion, I'd rather have a TEAM of good players playing fluid football for a TEAM they want to play for than team set up around one great player who wants out. For me as soon as he asked his friends to sound out another team that should be the time to start looking for a replacement. It's not as if it's been a secret he wants his move. No offense to him, it's Barcelona.

Sorry for long post, we have a really good team and with or without coutinho we should expect to challenge for the tops spots and do well in all cups.
Hopefully if he is sold Liverpool don't mess up getting a replacement, I'd hope for all out on a top striker.
Just my 2 pence worth.

Not long now, what ever happens sit back and enjoy the football, it's going to be a good season of football to watch for most of the top half of the league, hoping Everton can pull there new signings together for a couple of really good derby matches. Us winning of course but would love to see some really hard fought wins

1.) 05 Aug 2017 11:20:50
If we have such a good team, how come we conceded so many goals, didn't actually compete for the league and won nothing last season?

2.) 05 Aug 2017 11:33:03
Never said we have the best team, we have a weak defence which coutinho plays little to no part of. Our biggest threat in my opinion is mane who was injured for the back end of last season.
With the money from selling coutinho we could and should buy a commanding cb and a reliable striker. This would make us a better team than as It stands now with coutinho in it.
Just because we need to improve doesn't mean we haven't got a great team.
Stop sulking and realise we play in one of the richest leagues in football which means there are now at least 8 teams which are good enough to fight for 4 places.

3.) 05 Aug 2017 11:43:58
Franklynegative should be your name mate! Gets me down reading what you have to say.

{Ed025's Note - im sitting here with a can of petrol and a lighter welsh..

4.) 05 Aug 2017 11:47:59
Frankly, are you even an LFC supporter cos all you see is doom and gloom?

5.) 05 Aug 2017 11:56:45
Leave him alone, he is just being Frank! Ba Dum tsss.

6.) 05 Aug 2017 12:16:53
Frankly is a little more negative than some people on here but is quite entitled to his or her opinion. One or two of you on here need to wipe your noses after you message the eds it's quite embarrassing really.

{Ed025's Note - the guy would put years on us so is fair game..get a room..

7.) 05 Aug 2017 12:41:21
Frankly we were challenging for the title we injury issues with Coutinho, Henderson, Mane, Sturridge etc. and Chelsea went on a hell of a run.

8.) 05 Aug 2017 13:06:08
Lifelong red, your words were that we have a 'really good team', which couldn't be further away from the truth. We're a mediocre team, we have an imbalanced and a largely mediocre squad with a few very good players and Coutinho being the closest we have to a world class player. Giving our recruitment team any large amount of money is like giving a donkey a five pound note. Damned if they know how they got it and damned if they know what to actually do with it. I don't see that there is anything to be positive about going into the new season, I'm simply being realistic in my assessment of how things are. Given our previous form on spending and the fact that we are completely inept at bringing in top players (which there is significant evidence to support, Dani Alves, Costa, Willian, Keita and VVD all being perfect examples of our incompetence), if the club went and spent every penny from the sale of Coutinho it would only be overspent on mediocre players like Lanzini, Oxlade and Gibson. Players who simply aren't good enough at the top level, nor able to compete at the highest level, which is how things have happened repeatedly over the years, remind me, did we use the money from Torres/ Suarez/ Stirlling well? No. We wasted it each time and subsequently we had a season of failure. So form is not on our side on this.

9.) 05 Aug 2017 16:28:41
Wow frankly that is possibly the most unsupported post I've ever read.
Did we not finish above arsenal and man u? For the back end of the season from Xmas on nearly play without key players?
I'm not blind and am realistic about our team, we do have a really good team which is why we need to be challenging for all honours, yes we need to strengthen in places, saying we have a great team doesn't mean we need no new players. Any supporter know we need a commanding cb.
Yes LFC have made a mess of 2 of this year's transfers, yes something needs to be done for our transfer business in the future. I didn't once say we didn't.
We have strengthened our defence and bought another pacey forward.
I don't believe coutinho is our most important player, I would be more concerned if we sold mane. Selling coutinho and buying a leader of a cb and a more reliable striker would make us a much stronger team.
This still doesn't stop us from having a great team.

Pressed button too early
Meant to say love your pearls of wisdom eds, don't take all the repeated questions as a true picture of the normal Liverpool supporters

{Ed002's Note - I have never come across any "normal" Liverpool supporters.}

1.) 12 Jul 2017 10:05:32
What about harry ed?

2.) 12 Jul 2017 10:23:57
Lol define normal.

3.) 12 Jul 2017 10:27:24

" I felt a touch so I went down "

Starting to wander what the age is of some of the posters on here
Hadn't most of the same sources for the last few weeks been saying Keita and vvd signed for us/ agreed personal terms etc?
If coutinho wants to leave then let him leave, yes he is ONE of our best players, but if he wants out why keep him? As long as we get good money for him.
We have players who should be able to step up and I'm sure there are plans in place for his replacement. As one of the eds said a few times his agent and himself have already spoke of his desire to play for Barca. I believe max Meyer was a replacement mentioned before.
For now it's newspaper clickbait.
Until it's announced its rubbish.
If he goes good luck thanks for some awesome entertainment and onto the next player. Players come and go, Liverpool will always be here.

So many things to take into account with defenders of today and of times gone. Attacking players of now are faster yes, but look at the quality of dalglish, best, ronaldhino, kluivert and so many more that not the fastest but amazing on the ball, also the diffrence in pitches, quality of them, just look at old games or even pictures you can see the conditions that made playing attacking football we see on a regular basis now impossible, difference in footballs, football boots and life styles are amazing.
Wouldn't be surprised if we put the best attackers around now in the same conditions same equipment from the 80s they would struggle to be as effective as they are now.
The game has changed in so many ways, more effort is put into fast pace attacks, defenders are part of building it up now more than ever, th backs are more extra wingers than full backs, how many fullback are there now that can both defend and attack? The style of play we see now is seeing less defenders being coached to defend, instead to be part of the attack. If a team defends they are called for parking the bus.

Just my own opinion long winded at that, I have no expert knowledge just what I have seen watching the game over the last 30 plus years. The games evolving and defending doesn't seem to be important part of it. So less quality coming through.

Had no choice to leave, grew up in Weston favel area, dad was a photographer for local and London papers, used to get to go to all the games as a kid and meet the players, he tried his hardest to get me to support his boy good team arsenal, his first job was at their ground but loved watching Liverpool the most, he got a job up north in Yorkshire and in fortunately we all made the move.
My dad's back in northampton now but I've settled up here with own family, go down now and then but it's changed so much. You from Milton Keynes? Used to go up there to the point cinema when I was a kid, actually did an American football display there when necessary roughness film came out. God I'm old!

4th place is a minimum that should be expected, with the way we are playing and the team we have we should be aiming for the title, unknown it's unlikely city will drop 15 pts (after we win tomoz) but whilst there's still a chance we should go for it. As it stands we should be expecting to finish 2nd and a cup. We have proved good enough to beat good teams.
But as this is football and any thing can happen and we could end up. with nothing. I'm just really enjoying watching our team play and at last we are only adding what we need in players and not wasting money.
