Does anybody think Keita has still got much of a chance with us?
I don't mean to put the lad down, but we haven't seen anymore than flashes within certain games from him, and I can't remember the last time any player spent so long with us without making any impact, to then go onto make an impact.

JTRED91

1.) 29 Nov 2019 18:43:18
He'll have his chances in the next two months. Klopp is going to have to make a bit of a change to his midfield due to Fabinho's injury. It should give Keita chances to shine. Hopefully he impresses when he gets the chance (s) .

2.) 29 Nov 2019 20:38:11
its make or break for Keita, he has to take his chances, any more minor injuries that keep him out of games will only push him out of Liverpool,
I really hope he makes it, but for me he is hot and cold .

3.) 29 Nov 2019 22:15:32
Everyone will get their chances these coming weeks. Guys are going to have to step up to the plate and take them.

4.) 29 Nov 2019 23:46:17
Lucas Leiva? He was booed for almost two years.

5.) 30 Nov 2019 08:16:27
Kieta didn’t even make the Napoli squad this week behind Lallana and Shaq. I very much expect Milner then the Ox to get a lot more game time now that Fab is out.

6.) 30 Nov 2019 08:36:09
Dont see this as make or break for Keita at all very much the opposite
Very strange to see Keita spoken about like this, he is still very young and very immature and has time to grow and learn how to become a man in the world and footballing terms has well
keita will be a success at Liverpool imo
Klopp improves players he does not make them worse.

{Ed002's Note - He is not “very young”.

7.) 30 Nov 2019 08:42:07
Sorry for those that don't understand what I meant
in footballing terms he is still very young not age wise
sorry should of made that clear.

{Ed002's Note - I am pretty sure nobody knows what you mean now.}

8.) 30 Nov 2019 09:50:17
Is he Jesse lingard young?

9.) 30 Nov 2019 09:41:15
He just needs to get 100% fit and sustain it, that’s the main thing. Maybe he is saying he feels fine when he isn’t quite, but if he does he can start to show what he did at Leipzig.

10.) 30 Nov 2019 09:50:39
He is almost 25, so should not be very immature at all. It seems he has had several injuries that have hampered him but maybe there are other ongoing issues.
I recall Ed02 saying that the move for Naby Keita was ill advised and there were better alternatives available. I do not think it will work out for him and Liverpool but hope I'm wrong.

11.) 30 Nov 2019 10:48:46
For the record he was ill for the Napoli game not dropped. I may be slated for this but I’d rather he slotted into midfield three ahead of Ox in the tougher games as he doesn’t give the ball away as much.

12.) 30 Nov 2019 11:25:37
His ball retention has improved. That’s probably Klopp’s influence to get him making better decisions. At the expense of his trademark driving runs at Leipzig. Make no mistake though he is very talented. Personally I think it’s the non football attributes he’s lacking at the moment - confidence and not quite knowing his role. He’s a work in progress for me but due to his fee I suspect we all expected instant results. Bit more patience required I think.

13.) 30 Nov 2019 11:52:57
Ed 002 please I know your trying to be funny so I will laugh with you haha
But some players take longer to mature footballing wise then others
He is is a foreign country still learning the language to the fullest and it can be daunting I’m not ignorant to that fact even if others are.

{Ed001's Note - I am sorry but you make no sense mate. He has been in Austria and Germany previously, building up lots of experience and playing for his country. If he is immature then that is a worry.}

14.) 30 Nov 2019 12:03:36
Ok let me clarify playing for teams like red bull and guinea compared to Liverpool and the pressure and expectation are oceans apart
I just think some are being harsh on him I remember crouch couldn’t score for toffee and we all supported him no matter what
I’m here to support all our players until they ask to leave
For how long was Hendo dividing opinions now no one mentions his inclusion do they?

{Ed001's Note - I don't disagree that some are being harsh on him and that he should get support, when on the pitch. However, off the pitch, he needs to know what he should do better or he won't improve.}

15.) 30 Nov 2019 12:38:17
g1dgo cheers for letting me know he was ill mate. I did ask the question on the group the other day but didn’t think I got a reply when I checked last so I then assumed he just didn’t make the squad.

16.) 30 Nov 2019 10:51:43
Brilliant Ed 😂.

17.) 30 Nov 2019 20:29:29
Why is there emphasis placed on Keita not making the squad versus Napoli? He was ill.

18.) 30 Nov 2019 22:16:58
He'll get his shot. Lucas was booed, gini was moaned about. Matip, robbo, ox the list goes on. I've always been quite impressed when he's played. Not getting a run is the thing. Hendo, fab and gini start most games, then you have ox and milly. Difficult but I think he'll get some confidence and give klopp some hard decisions.

I completely agree with the premise, however, Rainbow Laces? Who thought that name was a good idea?

JTRED91

1.) 09 Jul 2018 14:49:57
I never got the rainbow laces. I mean, 3 bags for a pound? got to be dolly mix, strawberry pencils, and teeth and lips.

{Ed001's Note - do Mojos still exist? I loved them!}

2.) 09 Jul 2018 14:58:33
Sadly not Tris. I haven't seen them in shops since I was very young! They do have MAOAM bloxx now though which are very similar and will still rip your teeth out if that's what you are into 😂.

{Ed001's Note - not the same. Mojos were boss because they were cheap.}

3.) 09 Jul 2018 15:20:20
Maoam are surprisingly cheap! Not exactly like mojo, a bit of fruitella about them.

Never felt so rich as when I had 50ps worth of mojos.

{Ed001's Note - 50p? Bloody hell you were rich.}

4.) 09 Jul 2018 15:25:38
Nothing's cheap now Tris. Even Freddie Frog grew up to be a right exploitative little git.

I had to remortgage to buy a Whole Nut Dairy milk the other day.

{Ed001's Note - an ex of mine was nicknamed Freddie because she loved those things so much. When she had a little brother he was named Freddie as well....}

5.) 09 Jul 2018 15:45:42
You can buy mojos online or in Spain 👌.

6.) 09 Jul 2018 16:06:30
Very cheap, they were half a pence each. Showing my age.

7.) 09 Jul 2018 16:18:25
There was a shop at the end of the road that used to sell individual smarties for 1p!

Remember the jaw ache after a bag of mojos! I used to like fruit salad too.

8.) 09 Jul 2018 17:00:40
50p worth of mojos? Did you always take the wheelbarrow with you to the news agents?

9.) 09 Jul 2018 17:23:06
Anyone ever been to sweet shop and asked what you could get for 2p😏 and still come out with sweets.

10.) 09 Jul 2018 18:53:16
Lol mk, I remember a massive bag of em and crying coz my jaw ached while shoving more in!

That was when problems were real.

11.) 09 Jul 2018 18:59:20
Gonna show age- used to get sweets for quarter pence. 20p and you were absolutely set. Whole counter from one end of the shop to the other. Think we even used to get Fruit Salads and Blackjacks for 1p

Now- try to relive the olds days and get pick n’ mix at the Cinema- then spend the film time working out how to remortgage the house!

12.) 09 Jul 2018 19:27:42
Lmao agger. So true. Cinema prices kill the romance. 10p mix up were amazing, even though you went through the bag saying. "like these, and these, not these though or those" but still went for mix ups.

My fave though was the old "real" sweet shops, where you had jars of sweets by the 1/ 4. You used to get this chocolate dust that was beautiful.

Well, I'm stuck in hospital, just had a rather unpleasant operation and im bored, so I had a little look on YouTube about our 3 new midfielders. I know YouTube blah blah but I'm bored and I thought I would post my thoughts because ya know, I'm bored.

Fabinho. Impressed me greatly. The two things that stuck out at me was his ability to ping a defence splitting pass, and how when facing opposition attacks, he's in the right position to make a challenge, rather than the Mascherano style legging it 20 yards up the pitch to make a recovery tackle because he's out of position in the first place.
Excellent strength and looks composed. I'm very excited and although I rate Hendo, Fabinho seems an upgrade and I couldn't be more pleased. Tipping this lad for big things.

Keita. Excellent engine, brilliant with the ball at his feet and superb at wriggling around opposition players and keeping the ball. I do worry about his size/ strength but he's got a low centre of gravity which he uses to his advantage, so potentially bulking out would cost him some of that agility? I'm being picky but I didn't want to write a ' everything's perfect ' review because that helps nobody.

Fekir. Clearly extremely talented. Excellent with the ball, although I worry that he'll need to adapt to our style of play. Like Lallana he takes many touches, I did notice it seems that the other Lyon players weren't reading his passes early enough, so there's evidence enough to suggest playing at a slightly higher level will benefit his game, but whereas I think Fabinho and Keita will be excellent at spraying those early passes out to Salah and Mane, I worry slightly that Fekir will slow the play down slightly. However, again I'm just being picky, his dead balls are brilliant and I trust Klopp wholeheartedly. If he wants the boy for £50 million, he rates him highly and that'll do for me.

Have a good day, sports fans!

{Ed001's Note - get well soon JTR.}

3.) 08 Jun 2018 12:37:49
Get well soon mate. I hope somebody brings you a Nintendo Switch to pass the time!

4.) 08 Jun 2018 12:56:44
Keep your pecker up mate😁.

5.) 08 Jun 2018 12:59:09
Thanks guys 👍 Sexy nurse helps haha.

6.) 08 Jun 2018 12:59:31
Good post mate. I am also just home from a very unpleasant op for a man. Don't want to jump the gun, but am i right in thinking you will be a very happy man. If Fekir deal is announced over next 48 hours Ed001?

7.) 08 Jun 2018 14:42:58
I all the best dude recover quickly.

8.) 08 Jun 2018 16:19:56
Get well soon mate. YNWA.

02 Jun 2018 13:41:30
Hey, EastmidlandsScouser ( see what I did there? )
You watch Roma a lot, how do you feel about Allison? Sorry if you've already answered this. Cheers MK 👍.

JTRED91

1.) 02 Jun 2018 14:10:08
Did you not see him play against us? In a few years he might be quality but not yet. If I was to choose I'd go for Butland.

2.) 02 Jun 2018 14:15:16
Cmon Walter! Did you not watch Butland lately?

3.) 02 Jun 2018 14:22:34
Butland?! Stop it, you wanna pay over the odds for a player relegated with nothing but a losing mentality?
English keepers are short in quality when good goal keepers are not rare at the minute, there's at least 20 top class keepers out there and we do not have one AGAIN when it's about time we did.

4.) 02 Jun 2018 14:28:01
Couldn't disagree more Walter, saying you'd like Butland over Alisson should be a bannable offence.

5.) 02 Jun 2018 14:41:15
Walter, If Karius had been relegated with Mainz, would you have agreed for us to sign him? If the answer is no (which is the right answer), then why in the heck are we going for Butland who got relegated with Stoke?

6.) 02 Jun 2018 14:50:42
I like Alisson a lot. Great sweeper keeper, very agile and athletic, great distribution, composed on the ball, and usually claims crosses well (despite looking flappy against us) .

He has no major flaws to his game truth be told. He just needs to perfect the skills he is already good at and one day he'll be one of the best in the world in my opinion.

7.) 02 Jun 2018 15:15:11
Butland is a smokescreen, Allison will be joining us soon .

8.) 02 Jun 2018 15:23:46
Allison over Butland any day. However just because he’s in a relegated team doesn’t mean he’s useless, there are worse keepers than him that didn’t get relegated. I believe he made more saves than any other PL keeper last season, obviously because he had more shots at his goal than De Gea had, but as we saw with Allison against us, no matter who’s in goal they won’t save everything.
Hopefully we can get Allison or Oblak - keepers that will push us to next level, if we get Butland I’d be disappointed but will support him nonetheless.

9.) 02 Jun 2018 16:05:27
Alisson looks decent but he is untested in the premier league.
Robertson was relegated last season 🤝.

10.) 02 Jun 2018 18:08:17
I will back any player that's dons the shirt. Did I want karius no. Did I support him yes. Butland was not solely responsible for Stoke to be relegated.
Butland gets really poor views on here. The fella is top class in my book needs to catch more than punch, but plenty of quality there.

Someone posted about superstitions yesterday, well I don't have any as such but I've watched each match of this competition with my 8 year old son.
I've kept him back from his mums for a day, I've let him stay up way too late but not only can I not risk watching the final without him, seeing the range of emotions and the jubilation on his face means watching it with him means more to me than watching it anywhere else, or with anyone else.
Win or lose the final, thank you LFC for the joy you've given my son, and for the father son memories you've created.

1.) 03 May 2018 09:06:40
Great post mate.

2.) 03 May 2018 10:16:19
My son watched the first half with me before his mum took him to bed at half time. Given the difference between half time and full time scores needless to say that won’t happen again!

Cheers.

3.) 03 May 2018 10:57:39
4.45am with me and my two boys 10 &12 downunder. I always remember European nights watching on ITV from 34 years ago as a young teen. Memories never leave you.
God, Liverpool are a great club, you just can’t explain properly to my Aussie work colleagues.

4.) 03 May 2018 11:43:59
JTRed mate, with you all the way. The wife finally gave in around the quarters and allowed my 8 year old to stay up and watch. in a very specific spot on the couch. He's been the lucky charm :)

5.) 03 May 2018 12:17:05
Then it's settled lads, nobody's child goes to bed again until the final 👍 Sorted.

Brilliant. One question Ed, you mention that in the summer of 2013, Adidas were trying to broker a deal for Messi to leave Nike and join with one of their main clubs, my question is how could the sponsor have that much influence over potential transfers? Especially when the play in question is the most expensive player on the planet. Would they simply approach RM, BM and Chelsea and make a case or is it something else?
Many thanks.

JTRED91

{Ed002's Note - It was a financial influence. Adidas would have profitted from a move to Chelsea for Messi. THe amounts of money Nike and Adidas put in to football is far, far beyond what other sponsors do.}

Speaking as somebody who’s still going to work everyday and risking health to provide service to others, I’m happy the staff of LFC are now somewhat safer.
The economics are a separate issue that I personally won’t touch on, but the chances are there are a lot of LFC employees who really don’t want to return to work until this over.
However I’m not sure if the employees have still been going to work, or if they’ve mostly been working from home.
Not looking for a row, just glad people are safe (r) .

One thing that really irked me during their little spell was how many times they broke from deep with Liverpool players fairly close to the ball carrier yet they still made it to the 18 yard with the ball. I was screaming out for somebody to take a yellow card, fell the man in his own half before they can break and reorganise our defence.

Maybe it was passions running high because it was United, but truthfully I felt they could have scored from one of those chances.
So I’d like to see us more ruthless in those situations and stop the counter before it’s stated.

Absolutely. Can see Origi, Takumi and maybe Elliot all starting. Cue cries from elsewhere that we’re not respecting the FA cup but who cares? We’ve got bigger fish to fry this season, and I don’t want to see someone integral to our season get booted by Everton!
