Ok. so we're in pot 3? And? We shouldn't be afraid of anyone. In fact, let the likes of Barcelona and Munich be worried. Actually. Could we get Madrid? Fingers crossed.

Overconfidence, Arrogance and Complacency.

Three, Other, Words.

We get who we get and we've a good chance against any of them. Either way, it's an exciting day to see where the next campaign begins.

Angry

True and don’t let your overconfident and arrogance jump ahead of the line. We have not beaten the teams he mentioned in donkeys years and have not won anything so far. In terms of quality we are miles off from both Barcelona and Real!

Have to disagree there mate. We are on par with both. I'd even say we'd comfortably finish ahead of them in La Liga. Maybe our entire squad depth is not as strong, but Real only beat us on dirty tactics, taking out our most dangerous player and half knocking out our goalkeeper. Before that we were miles better.

You also have to remember that our style is geared towards playing teams like these, it is why we were so successful against the likes of Man City. Taking advantage of teams that like to attack is what we do best. Put it this way, I'd rather face these teams than say, Athletico Madrid, for example. They know how to absorb pressure and make their chances count.

It's not arrogance, it's confidence. We have a darn good team. I don't want the three toughest opponents by any stretch, I'm just not looking to avoid anyone.

We are light years behind Real, Barca, Munich and man city are we heading in the right direction yes but on a slow slow approach.

{Ed001's Note - yet we reached the Champions League final by knocking out City....hardly light years behind. Ludicrous comment.}

Why does it matter who we draw?
If we are worried about who we face in the group stages then we aren’t good enough to win it, the more this current squad plays against better opposition the better they will become.
We have a squad good enough to go head to head with any team, not saying we can beat every team but we are good enough to win.
I feel more confident when we play the better teams, I think it suits our style of play.
As for games after champions league games, we have a big squad with players that should be able to slot in to allow some testing of players.

We are capable of winning The champions league and premier league, but it all depends on each game. Every team has a bad spell and the odd freak loss, I’m just looking forward to watching some really good games this season.

Stop making excuses mate, they beat us, we shouldn't become the club that blames others for our loses.

Absolute nonsense, Walter. We are a better team than Bayern and I would back us against Barcelona. Real Madrid, even without Ronaldo, will likely be very competitive in the CL again, but we are as good as anything there is this season.

Mcgoveb - no-one is blaming anyone, but it is a fact that they removed our best player from the field with a pretty horrendous challenge that another ref might have punished (with at least a yellow) and they still were no better than us across the field - and since that point we've improved our worst positions while they lost their best player. To say we're light years behind flies in the face of all the evidence available, if anyone in this competition beats us comfortable in both games it'll be a case of looking into how and why rather than just saying 'well of course they did they're better'

On any given day we could beat Real, Barcelona and the other top European teams 100%. But on any given day they could also beat us. What we can’t beat them on though is trophy count over the last 5-10 years and until we start winning those trophies I think we should be a little more tactile with our arrogance.

I wouldn't at all say that they're light years ahead of us.

In recent history they (Barca and RM) might very well be if we compare trophies/ honors won, but it's not all about that. Football wise (on the field) we are not going in a direction, we've already reached that destination and as things are right now, we are just as strong a force as Barca, RM, Man City and whoever else we compare ourselves to. We'll be competing just as much as them.

I wouldn't mind an "easy" group, since what matters the most is the final game. But hypothetically, just for the sake of the example, let's say we got a group of RM, Barca, Man City and Liverpool. I'd be highly confident that we could compete at exactly the same level as them.

We can't just neglect last season and throw our champions league run away as a fluke. We played proper football and deserved to be in the final and also deserved our top 4 placement. And if we keep on the same track, there's no reason as to why we can't repeat something like that in the next seasons to come.

If any team in world football knows that what you won last year means nothing to how you perform this year, it should be us.
