Lots of reports regarding Allison, Roma goalkeeper. Are we interested or is it paper talk?

Paper talk mate. We can dream.

Well if you read it in the paper or on a press website.

Paul Joyce has said he thinks the club are interested in Becker, but the Eds have mentioned that Klopp personally seems to rate Navas quite highly, so who knows?

This is a case where (if we can afford it) I would much prefer to avoid Klopp's favourite, and instead go for Becker.

Like most fans I've literally never seen him play, but every word spoken or written about him (including by GK experts) has been overwhelmingly positive.
He seems to be one of the few keepers in world football who could one day potentially be compared to De Gea, in terms of his sheer quality.

I have a feeling the club will ultimately shy away from Becker because of a very high transfer fee, and especially if Karius continues his current form till the summer.

I wonder if the ideal time to have made an approach for Becker was the January window. His reported value now seems to be increasing by the day.

Yep. Let’s ignore who the manager wants and go for someone else. That would make a lot of sense lol.

Anony

I would prefer we back who the manager wants to buy. Rather than all chase after a player who (as you said yourself) none of us have seen play.

Makes more sense right?

Normally I'd trust Klopp's judgement on a player purchase, but Keylor Navas has a generally poor reputation ( in stark contrast to the very good and growing reputation of Becker, and I must admit that worries me a bit.
I'm no great believer in reputations, but it does make you pause and think.
Klopp's great but he's only human, and we all have a few blind spots in our judgement.

Navas may be klopps choice because he has been told Becker is not a realistic option. remember he cannot always get his first choice targets. out of the 2 surely anyone with no financial restraints would choose Becker. (apart from maybe Roy hodgson obviously) . lol.

Hope the allison thing dissapeares till the transfer window so karius is given a fair trial the lad is doing well and the relationship he has with the defence seems to be improving just think his distribution needs work i personally don't feel as worried with the current line up as when butters was our #1 karius might just be the answer and save us a few quid to spend on the midfield.

I also hope the Navas link dies a death as well. I don’t see what Klopp sees in him, as from what I’ve seen of him (and I’ve seen a lot) he’s the worst keeper in La Liga and makes Mignolet look like DeGea. Plus Madrid want £30m got him by all accounts, so you’d think that would be enough for any reasonable person to walk away from.

Sure one of the eds mentioned navas was a back up choice, might be wrong but seem to remember it being said.

I’ve got 100% trust in the manager and his transfer choices hasn’t done too bad so far.

You don’t pay £25-30m for a back up and I’m sure there are better and more competent options around for less than that.

If you only want a bank up keep Ward and save money.

I assume it means back up as in 2nd choice if kloppbcant get his first choice franklymrshankly.

Harry, so just hinder wards career and keep him as back up? Surely keeping him this season was enough. The guy needs minutes and to keep building his goalkeeping reputation. If we can sign an 'experienced' keeper, allow karius the platform to perform and allow Ward to progress I think it would be best for all parties. that is, of course, unless someone of Beckers caliber becomes a realistic option.

Keep ward and move on? It doesn't work like that.
