We have decided to change the Teams page to be the Liverpool Match Posts page, so look for posts talking about the latest Liverpool match there.

But most of the posts still go to the Liverpool Banter pages.

Hi Ed's thanks for all your transfer news and information throughout this window. just a quick question apologies if it has already been asked. do you know if Liverpool are now finished with any more incoming players and will just concentrate on trimming the squad.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - Yes, they need to trim the squad. Klopp has apparently said he is sure Liverpool are done I do not see that as necessarily being the case.}

20 Jul 2018 10:53:20
Question for Ed001 and fellow reds would you keep dan Sturridge in squad or would you have him leave personally think he would be great for rotating the team around just those dam injuries are a concern you just can't rely on him staying fit
Up the pool.

Agree0 1Disagree

{Ed001's Note - let him go. He needs regular football to get back to his best and he is not going to get it with us.}

20 Jul 2018 10:53:00
Will any further acquisitions rely on departures? Obviously right now we have a number of players who are surplus to our requirements.

Ed001, with the signing of Alisson and his potential to be one of the greats. Are you concerned about Achterberg. With keepers never really improving under him. I know Alisson is a class above what we’ve had in recent years so here’s to hoping it’s because of the tools he’s been working with haven’t been up to scratch.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - it is always a concern, but Alisson is good enough that it might not matter.}

Ed’s completely unrelated topic now to lfc/ transfers,

But just wondering how our illustrious previous owners Tom and George are getting on?

And I mean getting on business wise in the Sports World, has their reputations been destroyed by their brief ownership of Lfc?

Appreciate any reply.

{Ed002's Note - Last I heard both were retired - Hicks is probably still in Texas and Gillett is certainly still in the very lovely Vail, as he gave The AP a recent interview.}

With our new signings, I can't wait for the season to start. Anyone know how I can stream the preseason games in the UK?

There's a saying in life

'if you can't bet them, join them'

Spending big money on big players is not an issue, as long as its done legally and under the FFP rules. Not sure why everybody has a massive stick up their butt about it.

This progression has been buildng since Klopp joined, we are finally able to afford top players because of the work Klopp has done. When he rook ovet the squad was nowhere near a chanpions league level. It's not even been 3 years and now look at us, could any other manager have done this?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - Nonsense. The money has come from the sale of the television rights. Or was Klopp reesponsible for that as well?}

Hello to all liverpool supporters on here. I'm a glasgow rangers fan and i'm absolutely over the moon, that your liverpool, midfield legend, steven gerrard, is our new manager!
What a player he was and i think he'll do a fantastic job, for us, as our manager. Just wish he would play for us as he'd still be head and shoulders above any other midfielder, in the scottish premiership! Just a small question, for all you liverpool supporters, regarding your young wingers, harry wilson and ryan kent. We are very close in signing ryan kent, from you, on a season long loan deal. Must say kent looks a very good, young winger. Here's my question guys. Who is the better winger of the two, harry wilson or ryan kent? Are we getting the better winger in ryan kent? Cheers guys, very much looking forward to reading your comments on this, which of course would be very much appreciated! All the best of luck, for the new season and i truly hope you win the english premier league! I've bet liverpool to win the league, at 5/ 1.

Hello mate, personally I'd say Wilson is the best out of the two, but my opinion to be honest can't be valid because I've not seen enough of Kent. I've only seen Kent play a handful of times but I have been impressed by what I have seen, I'm sure more people here will know more about the lad mate. Many people here speak very highly of him so I think it'd be a good move for him and for Rangers. Good luck next season, it'll be interesting to see how you get on! :) .

I would say wilson is further down the road in his development and should turn out to be a good prem player in the future. Whether he plays for us on a regular basis or not is another matter.

Kent had a couple of indifferent loans last season where he did ok but not great. He has a different style to wilson and is more direct but potentially one dimensional. I do however like him and think he will do well in Scotland.

Kent is faster and more direct. Probably has a better strike on him too. First time I saw it he rattled the bar from about 35 yards whilst on loan at Coventry. He is seriously talented. Physically, he is the better player which is arguably more vital in the aggressive Scottish leagues.

Wilson is the more intelligent player though. His movement is slick and clever. Not to mention is composure. The thing is, He's not that quick so he relies on his close control and first touch to beat players. That is fine on a bowling green of a football pitch, but Scottish pitches are like farmland at times. Plus He's be on a different wave length to most the players in his team.

Without wanting to sound harsh, Scottish football lacks the quality for Wilson to thrive. However, It's robust and raw style of football will suit Kent to a tee. He'll happily knock it past his man and then outpace him. He doesn't need to play intricate little passes because he can just plough through with pace and power. He's individually good. Wilson needs quality around him.

I think It'd be a good signing for Rangers and a good move for Kent, personally. To answer your question in summary; Wilson is the better player, but Kent is the better option for Rangers.

Random ex-youth player question for Ed001.

Saw that in answer to a question re Nat Phillips you said you weren't as up on the current youth prospects as you have been a few seasons ago.

One player that I had very high hopes for in the mid-noughties was Neil Mellor. I was 'hanging around' the LFC. tv forums at that time and hadn't discovered this great site!

Was he really expected to succeed with us at every step of his youth career? I remember hearing of him banging in 40-50 goals for the rezzies when he was still a teenager and I totally thought he would be the heir-apparent to Gd and Judas!

What was the story there, I'd be fascinated to hear it, if you get a minute.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - he simply wasn't that good, ressies were his level. He lacked pace, spent far too much time out whoring with a certain Mr Wayne Rooney, drank too much, didn't train hard enough and was not the player everyone hoped for.}

20 Jul 2018 10:17:25
Ah, that's a shame. Sounds like he would've thrived in the pre-premier league or even pre-Wenger football culture!

Such a shame to waste a talent.
