Ed's and reds I have a question.

What do you think this Liverpool team needs (if they do) in terms of on field improvement.

I'm not asking which players we should sign name wise but what style of player are we lacking.

I do feel we are missing a goal poacher who can be brought on to change the game, Nothing fancy like our current forwards but a ruud van nistelroy type player.

I also believe we need an energetic midfield player who is comfortable at a 6, 8 or even a 10. Of course I'd love a certain Brighton midfielder but I do think we miss gini's flexibility

Thanks.

I don't think there is anything wrong with our front 3 or the way we play upfront. We've been winning an amazing high percentage of games under this system, not to mention a few titles and cups to go along with it. If it's not broken, why change it? Players go off form or get injured and then are back to play again, but that shouldn't affect the overall strategy of the team. Same thing with midfield and defense. I felt we needed an offensive player and Ox started showing signs of making the role his own. But he got injured and I am not sure he has ever recovered. Then Keita came along and we all know how that is going. And now there is Elliott but that has been put on pause for a while too. It's the injuries that have always derailed getting the team to play at it's peak abilities, if anything. We'll just wait for Elliott to recover and get back into the team and resume his development.

We could say that we need a better bench. But if you look at the fact that Tsimikas is not being used enough when Robertson is off form, you ask yourself what's the point if Klopp is always going to stick with his top 13-15 players most of the time? In some areas he shows himself to be a risk taker but in other areas he is very conservative.

2.) 03 Nov 2021 17:52:16
I want us to bring Crouch back from retirement!

3.) 03 Nov 2021 18:56:23
Well, in my opinion we certainly don't need a goal scorer/ poacher so far this season. We are scoring for fun, enough to win practically every game. I guess at the minute we certainly could do with a midfielder. Everybody wax lyrical about Bissouma but I would be happy with Kalvin Phillips but I only say that because a fair bit of our midfield are lining up to use the treatment table.

4.) 03 Nov 2021 19:22:50
Calvin Phillips would cost twice what Bissouma would and he’s half the player. Waste of money imho. He’s alright but not much more than that. Too slow, not defensively that strong. His passing is ok but there are plenty better out there.

{Ed001's Note - been injured most of the season as well Phillips.}

5.) 03 Nov 2021 23:00:43
MwepuforLiverpool# 😀.

6.) 03 Nov 2021 23:17:42
We’re averaging 3 goals a game so I don’t understand your need for a goal poacher! I feel another CM wouldn’t go amiss however when Elliott returns he’s going to make a big difference.

7.) 04 Nov 2021 00:51:19
It’s a difficult one for me because our first 11 are so good.
I hear people talk about our lack of strength in depth but if everyone is fit I don’t think our bench is any weaker then anyone else’s bar City perhaps.
I had a discussion about this the other day when someone said Chelsea’s bench is better as they don’t have such a drop in quality if someone is out. My argument is that our first team players are so far superior to theirs that it’s more difficult for us to have similar quality on the bench.
When everyone is fit our bench is easily as good as Chelsea’s, arguably better but if you lose Fabinho, Salah, VVD, Ali, Trent, Bobby, Hendo, Mane there’s not many players in the world that could come in and be as good.
I think that’s why our recruitment team have to be looking at up and coming players like Jota who can work to be in the first team over time.

8.) 04 Nov 2021 16:32:24
Beckers, Chelsea's midfield only has Loftus-Cheek and Saul (who doesn't even play) as options after Kova, Jorginho and Kante. If they lost any 3 out of those players, they would struggle mightily, IMO. I would take our squad over theirs when fully fit cos each player knows their jobs in our team cos it has been playing together for 4 years now. Their team is still being built.

Hi Ed's I no this is a silly question, but considering who I'm asking about I hope you can forgive me, with it being something I truly wish you could answer yes too.

There is a lot of buzz on tw*tter about mbappe being available and only one English team discussing it, "apparently" it's Liverpool

Is this true or am I just setting myself up for disappointment again.

Again sorry and thank you 😊.

{Ed002's Note - The situation is as I have explained repeatedly.}

1.) 23 Aug 2021 20:53:56
His wages alone would never work for LFC.

2.) 23 Aug 2021 21:06:45
Mbappe to LFC started when we won CL and Mbappe said in an interview which I don't remember fully he Said would've loved playing for LFC and Klopp when he wanted to leave PSG. From their France pundits including julien laurens a decent France pundit said if LFC can find money then yes they've got chance if Madrid can't find the money or LFC can easily convince him he's still young and the deal can be put together like Ronaldo afterr 4-5 yrs LFC will allow him to leave for Madrid. Mind you he's very close to mbappe and that's where Mbappe to LFC started. I doubt will ever be in for him coz I can't see us paying that kind of wages even if Mbappe wanted to come.

{Ed0666's Note - we couldn’t even afford Mbappes lunch. Just forget about this nonsense please. When he moves he will be the highest paid soccer player on the planet bar Messi probably you think we’ll pay those kind of wages? I’ll say it again please forget this nonsense and hope Sanchez’ knee gets back to normal.

3.) 23 Aug 2021 21:31:41
Absolutely agree Ed66 mate the likes of Mbappe, Haaland are pinnacle of football atm and their coast is same like their status. Mind you Spanish Giants who are going through financial meltdown aren't afraid of investing in these kind of players.

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid resolved their financial issues.}

4.) 23 Aug 2021 23:18:43
Liverpool can’t afford Saul’s €300k/ week. PSG have offered Mbappe 600-750k/ week depending on sources. Like how does anyone think it would even be slightly possible.

5.) 23 Aug 2021 23:55:16
Haaland the pinnacle of football? Would rather have Salah. We have the pinnacle of goalkeepers and the pinnacle of defenders at the club. I think some people forget what a bloody good squad Klopp has built. We should buy sensible rather than the ones with super agents.

6.) 24 Aug 2021 00:02:34
He said if liverpool came in he'd happily play for a bowl of scouse a night, £10 to get smashed in Weatherspoons on a evening before a beatles tribute band with a few local girls.

{Ed0666's Note - sounds like fun where do I sign?

7.) 24 Aug 2021 01:35:14
I get that Mikey but they're completely different players. Haaland is 21 yrs of age scoring consistently 40-50 goals a season.

Most of the top teams are chasing him if not all. Even Chelsea tried everything before buying Lukaku.

{Ed0666's Note - they didn’t quite try everything mate. If they’d of put one of Ed 001’s special reach around’s on the negotiating table they might have sealed the transfer

8.) 24 Aug 2021 04:56:48
Let's get it straight! We have more chance of ed666 marrying Megan fox than us signing mbappe! 😝.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m not mad at the scenario let me tell ya livebird

9.) 24 Aug 2021 09:06:23
Ed, when you’re asking ‘where do I sign’ just want to check, are you signing up for the night out, or offering to make yourself available as one of the local girls?

{Ed0666's Note - I’m actually Yoko Ono on Saturday nights so I’m with the band darling.

11 Aug 2021 17:41:05
Hi Ed's sorry if it's been asked and updated recently.

Seeing rumours of Liverpool having contact with doku's agency and was curious if this was

A - true
B - progress from our initial interest or is this something that was part of the initial interest.

Thanks.

Could any of the Ed's or posters clear something up for me.

I saw down the page that Harry scouser is back? I thought he moved to Man City rumours a few years ago, So was that just a loan or did someone re-sign him. And if so who.

I actually thought he was perfect for Brendan Rodgers Leicester city because he shows great character. And he would be a real asset with his ability to defend every other teams transfer activities and players but also attacks Liverpool players with pace and accuracy.

This is only for banter and no offence is intended 😁.

Harry Scousser (to getthe spelling right, as per his user name! ) has had more regens than Dr Who.

Most recently he was Akira and now seems to have morphed into Sinwave!

Same old sheep, different user name.

When he left to sing his solos on the Man City page, we won a few decent trophies. Harry being back on these boards is the death knell for our season's chances, unfortunately : (.

2.) 03 Aug 2021 11:53:08
I don't know why he chose Sinwave. He's more of a parabola. Starts out the summer positive, gradually loses optimism until he hits rock bottom, switches allegiances back to Man City at his low point, and then by the end of the summer he's climbed back up to being an optimistic City fan again. He is the personification of a parabolic curve.

3.) 03 Aug 2021 11:56:02
Well why mention it then?
Don’t see the fascination with having a pop at him all the time, give the guy a break?

4.) 03 Aug 2021 13:07:15
Did he now change his name to the juicer.

5.) 03 Aug 2021 13:55:04
Priceless, Deisered.

6.) 03 Aug 2021 14:28:07
Juicer, he's spent a decade having pops at our players and posters on here. What goes around comes around.

7.) 03 Aug 2021 17:25:07
I like reading Harry’s posts. Not everyone sees the world through the same eyes. I don’t rarely agree with what he says but they’re his opinions not mine so why would I even be bothered. There’s lots and lots of great posters on here and there’s lots of great debates and banter when people aren’t trying to “better fan each other” along the my dads bigger than your dad route. Long May he continue to post.

8.) 03 Aug 2021 18:24:03
Welcome back Harry, always enjoyed your posts. I Don't always agree with your views but they make interesting reading, which for me is what this site is about. Maybe Ron Keague will return next.

A lot of negativity on here lately. I'd just like to add

Liverpool went most of the season without vvd Gomes and matip.
Stop start seasons for jota Thiago and hendo.
An off season for mane and Bobby.
Nabby and ox practically unavailable most of the season.
Fabinho spending 90% of the season away from his favoured position.
Klopp losing his mother and Allison losing his father.
During a C.V. without our famous kop pushing us to miracles.

And Klopp still managed to get us 3rd 🤯

Doubters to believers he asked for and he's damn sure earned it!

Santo

1.) 02 Aug 2021 16:33:08
Agree completely. People need to settle down. We finished 3rd last year in what was a terrible season for us.

Klopp has also learned from his mistakes (In regards to not trusting Philips earlier and playing Fab out of position) if god forbid we had another injury crisis, im sure we would handle it just fine.

I feel Jota will be a star this season. Now that Thiago has had a year settling in i feel he will be excellent as well.

As much as I would like us to sign another midfielder. Im also relaxed about the coming season regardless.

2.) 02 Aug 2021 16:49:16
I am very much a believer, as you say Klopp has earned it. Klopp will buy a midfielder I am sure.

3.) 02 Aug 2021 16:53:34
Cracking post Santo 👏.

4.) 02 Aug 2021 17:12:07
Wait, are you asking us to believe in the team and not have a meltdown when there's still about a month left in the transfer window? I am sorry that's not going to work. Mbappe by tomorrow afternoon please.

5.) 02 Aug 2021 17:58:52
We also had form equivalent to city for the first and third parts of the season. just stumbled in the middle.

6.) 02 Aug 2021 18:30:56
Spot on Santo.

I think the reality is that a lot of people just don’t have the stomach for actually supporting a football team. What i mean by that is that whenever their team has even the slightest setback or disappointment, then all the toys get thrown out of the pram. The reason for this is because the modern day bandwagoners get very upset and embarrassed by how they are perceived by opposition fans, mainly on social media and the toxic and volatile hyperbolic rhetoric that circulates there.

These types of supporters don’t actually have as much pride in their team as they would have you believe. If they did, they would be able to think clearly and see that actually, Liverpool did very well to finish where they did in the context of last season, that they are very well placed going into this one and that there isn’t an awful lot we can realistically do to improve the team at this moment in time. Despite financial difficulties we currently face in the wake of the C.V., we are still looking to bring players in and all the most reliable sources (the Eds, Romano et al) have all confirmed that we will make further signings still.

However, for these supporters all of this amounts to nought if they can’t brag or throw digs out on social media. It doesn’t matter that this is pretty much the same group of lads that brought home the two biggest trophies in club football. They didn’t win anything last year and we haven’t made any ‘marquee signings’ whereas our rivals have (an utter falsehood but for some reason Konate doesn’t count in their eyes), which means in the arena of internet slander and p. taking they now hold very little clout. All it took was for United to have the audacity to sign two good players, followed by City to merely be linked with two good players for these fans to completely lose their temper and their faith in the team. They feel completely emasculated and to them, without online bragging rights, football is virtually worthless. It doesn’t matter what this group of lads have achieved before, it’s all about how many people are laughing at your club because they didn’t sign a big name on enough money to bankrupt a small island nation. If we aren’t signing players with the specific intention of making rival fans jealous, then there’s simply no point.

If that’s all it takes for people to get wound up and lose pride in their team, maybe they don’t love their team as much as they claim to. If someone started being derogatory towards my girlfriend on twitter, i wouldn’t then agree with the person and angrily tweet about how my girlfriend needs to stop embarrassing me. Just saying.

7.) 02 Aug 2021 18:53:20
Good post. Klopp has earned it! but he’s also earned a bloody Gini replacement and a striker so the club need to pull their finger out.

8.) 02 Aug 2021 19:15:29
Does Klopp actually want a Gini replacement and a striker? Or is that just what you want?

9.) 02 Aug 2021 20:13:26
That's the distinction that some struggle to make - "I really like this player so that means that Klopp should sign him".
Meanwhile Klopp has his own ideas - and a proven track record of being right.

10.) 02 Aug 2021 20:28:28
Spot on Wolly. There's plenty of numpties who make plenty of noise about their latest expensive signing and half of them probably don't even know how the player is doing 6 weeks later.
I just don't get this "transfer fever". Maybe I need to do a Homer Simpson and jam a crayon up my nose?

11.) 02 Aug 2021 20:55:33
Great post, OP. For me, I’m super calm about things and super excited for the new season. As for the persistent who gets who pout on like petulant children cos the club is not buying the shiny new toy they want, not much anyone can do for you.

Flash, I fully agree with your premise as well. If the club is linked with a player that some fans want, they think the club should sign him. Now if the club were neither interested nor had NO plan to sign him and he goes elsewhere or stays put, they whine that he wasn’t signed. So in essence, fans lose their ship over a player the club either never looked to sign nor even planned to sign. This is what we are being afflicted with these days.

12.) 03 Aug 2021 01:58:44
I’m still dark at LFC for not signing David Villa. Rafa out.

13.) 03 Aug 2021 08:13:18
IDOG, you need to get out of the house more often.

Huge holes in midfield? You sure

We play 3 in the middle and have

Fab, Thiago. Hendo, Milner. Nabby, ox, Jones who play there that’s 7 players.

If we have holes that’s the coaches problem not the owner’s.

I’d use the whole budget to bribe Klopp into staying for 20 more years

If not then invest in to the academy and facilities. I’m happy to push Elliot clarkson Curtis into more game time.
