Gutted about Jota - would say recently has been a bit of a break through player last few weeks. Been with us a while but seemed to be on fire recently and don’t remember him running through defences before this season.

Hopefully isn’t serious and back soon! Only positive is with Salah back least less of a head ache on who starts as three that started today he been on form!

Hearing Salah is injured too. Nunez out 2 weeks and Jota / Jones both out for the season. Hope this is wrong.

Can't see anywhere that states that Salah is injured, or the length of time that Nunez, Jones, and Jota would be out so I'm hoping that your timeline is false. But Jota's injury looks really bad though and I'm worried that it is a M/ ACL injury.

@Matr. That made me laugh. When did you get the results of the scans through?

4.) 18 Feb 2024 16:21:15
Matr1981, noe of what you say is true. Klopp said Darwin felt something and was taken off as a precaution. He said Jota does not look good. Didn't hear about CJ. Like WDW3, when did you get the results of the scans?

Only watched bits of championship (mainly Leeds) and like the look of Ritter - young player who looks to have a lot of ability. Quick feet and manages to get buckets of assist playing with Bamford up top!

Obviously tactics will change but could be useful for opening up teams.

Actually “advanced talks” is more like when you see someone at a bar chatting some one up and just about to ask for their number…. Hopefully alonso is giving them a fake one. Reliable source tells me Mullet is acting as wing man.

In fairness doubt majority of posters have watched much of him - but from the hype and what ed said (plus fact real and ourselves along with a suite of others wanted him) presume is a talent. If anything the obsession with what United are doing seems to come a bit from jealousy.

Apart from fact has a cool name dunno much about zirkzee - but again was coveted and from my understanding is similar to firmino in pressing / defence form the front and Ugarte again seems to make sense as a signing. They may be paying over the odds for them but that is what a club in their position competitively would have to do. If they add brainthwaite again that for me would be a very good signing.

Don’t think Yoro is a a much as a gamble in either A) lives up to hype and they double there spend selling to real b) again lives up to hype and enjoys Manchester becoming a lonnnng term CB or C) doesn’t live up to hype and either way at least get half the fee just from being a PL CB…. plenty of daft fees for average players, hell arsenal bought a striker for £45 who proved he couldn’t score in a dominant Manchester City team.

I would disagree to say there is only one position we could improve - DM is mentioned, but based off last season alone CB, CM, LW and CF could be improved.

Mac was brilliant over the season but think Scoz, grav and Curtis (mainly injury) could be improved. Nunez had good overall stats but inconsistent and Diaz’ output is fairly low. Even salah tailed off towards end play wise. Not tactically astute enough to know why but also were defensively poor last season so dunno how a top CB wouldn’t help.

Personally think current players that COULD improve and kick on, some amazing potential but that is just potential. Can say what ever about resource but Pep seems fairly ruthless and aims to improve squad - to say there aren’t players who we might be able to get to improve the squad is incorrect IMO.

Think one of Ed’s mentioned something of the ilk of a team bringing 1-2 players of real quality each season to improve XI and think this summer are in ideal place to do that. Young talented squad with good depth, bring in a few top top improvements and could challenge for title.

Say what you want about CR7 but his professionalism is unrivalled - his last full season at United got 18 league goals in his latter thirties in an awful team.

Believe rumour was going to sign for city before - fully think if he did he’d have put up Halaand numbers, not as fit etc as he is now but is far more clinical and all round better player even now.

TBf I wouldn’t say it is only football - a lot of sports I used to like I’ve lost a lot of interest in, would say a bit of too technically played but also the judging / gov bodies etc are a huggge part of it for me.

Used to watch F1 but is rarely competitive and last time it was the gov body completely screwed LH (too the point think was even fired after) so stopped watching.

Similarly with boxing, countless amount of decisions by judges are baffling. Even if failed drugs test explain to me how one judge gave the Garcia fight a draw when one fighter was floored 3 times…. and that is even one of the less egregious decisions…. added to that unifications / the best fighting the best is a scarce rarity - just the best fighting someone not in top 5, so a wash. Only sport that has kept its entertainment is probably MMA - but oh well.

Never really got the obsession with honouring contracts when it comes to football - obvs there is how you handle it, but is a v cut throat business for players and managers.

From a players perspective you can play for years and come from youth team - then get sold / dropped in an instant. Managers can get sacked after bringing a team up leagues or winning trophies after a bad run.

Main bit is how you carry yourself and respect shown when given. I never recall Klopp ever being disrespectful towards club, supporters and can’t doubt effort given - added if think is overrated with legend status, then explain anger that is leaving and being replaced?

Same with anyone’s job - it is an agreement between parties, not ownership from one party. Stress comes with the rewards so if Klopp feels his time is up for whatever reason then based on his service and effort given can’t fault the man.
