Good afternoon ED002,

In regards to your note below in regards to Saul Niguez, do Liverpool / Klopp still have an interest?

Regards, KR65

Saul Niguez (CM) Chelsea have an option on Saul and may or may not take it up - I suspect they might not but but whilst they are looking to integrate Conor Gallagher they also know there will be midfield departures. Two other sides have asked to be kept informed of the situation as we move toward the summer and a couple of others might declare an interest - most notable is Barcelona who are trying to balance extending youngsters, raising funds through sales and adding some experience. }.

{Ed002's Note - No, Liverpool have no interest in him.}

09 Aug 2017 07:15:08
Morning EDS,

Do you know if the club have received any interest in signing or loaning Sakho in the last 2 weeks or so? I am aware of what you have stated about interest previously and that we have out priced him to potential suitors.

If he is not sold or loaned out by September 01st, how will his season pan out as it seems he certainly won't be included in the squad? Will he play in the reserve games etc? or do you think a deal will eventually be done?

Best Regards.

{Ed001's Note - his injury is keeping interest down mate. He will have to play for the reserves if no deal is done, though I suspect we will find a way to get him out, even if only on loan.}

1.) 09 Aug 2017 07:45:05
We seem to be between a rock and a hard place with him being injured especially with the price we have put on his head, maybe the club need to lower there expectations a little bit?

Do you know when he potentially could be ready for first team competitive football?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry.}

2.) 09 Aug 2017 08:03:27
Thanks ED.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

3.) 09 Aug 2017 12:10:25
I know it has been done to death, and I don't full know what happened behind the scenes or in front of the cameras that made his and klopps relationship break down, but it still seems like biting your nose of to spite your face. He is arguably our best centre back (in my opinion he is) and would be a very welcome addition to the squad without spending a penny. We are thinking of spending £50M on VVD, but I am sure if you offered Klopp £10M to forget whatever happened it could all be solved!

Won't happen so don't shoot me just thinking and writing.

4.) 09 Aug 2017 12:50:54
we offered Klopp £10M to forget whatever happened is the daftest thing I have heard on here ever. and he is not that good plus he is trouble just take the £20m people are offering job done.

5.) 09 Aug 2017 13:06:34
I think simply offering someone money to forget something happened is bribery! It would mean that there is no integrity left at the club. Not that there is a lot at the moment.

6.) 09 Aug 2017 13:58:36
Klopps professional conduct regarding transfers this summer make Sahkos transgressions seem insignificant.

Klopp should take a look at his own behaviour and consider giving Sakho another chance in the first team squad,

At least the player is then in the shop window, not whiling away his large contract in the reserves.

A blindman could see this was better for the club from a financial perspective,

Whats the worst that could happen?

That Sahko doesn't take his chance and we wnd up back where we are now.

But if he takes his chance he could be worth 50 million.

Its unthinkable that this option hasn't been discussed,

But nothing surprises me about the LFC hierarchy these days.

7.) 09 Aug 2017 15:24:51
In the know then LFCder?

Do you know the full circumstances?

Come on, do tell!

8.) 09 Aug 2017 15:28:01
what is it with fans and sakho being are best defender the same fans that say VVd is not that good. am all for support your players but saying there better than they are is just stupid that's why we do not win any thing overhyped players getting paid to much money. Lucas was another one was not good enough but at least he was a model professional Sakho is just trouble and not worth the space in the squad. bamby on ice just another Balotelli but without the talent.

Good afternoon ED001

I have done a search but found no updates on the Gary "Pitbull" Medel rumours that surfaced a couple of days ago, and I was wondering if you did that triple check to find out?

I very rarely write in about rumours, but this would be the coup of the summer, if true that is?

Thanks in advance Ed.

{Ed001's Note - I am still waiting to hear back, he is another one that we have not been tracking, so it would be a spur of the moment move if we are trying to get him. Similar to Wijnaldum. Hopefully Klopp's spur of the moment purchases are better than mine.}

1.) 20 Jul 2016 15:43:56
Thanks for your reply mate

I really hope it happens, but can't help but think it is just another name that has been randomly pulled out of the bag by the red tops et al

Fingers crossed.

2.) 20 Jul 2016 17:15:45
I like him as a player myself, but one of my mates is a massive Inter fan. When I mentioned it he was more than happy to say the least, said we'd be better off with Brozovic but he wouldn't want him to leave.

Time will tell though. I'd love him, bodies flying everywhere! be great!

19 Jul 2016 07:15:23
Good Morning ED001

I was wondering if you did manage to seek any information in regards to yesterdays rumours that started to circulate about Gary Medel and that Klopp was interested in bringing him to the club?

I think you said you were going to triple check! so apologies if i'm a little early

Thanks in advance Ed.

{Ed001's Note - not heard back yet from one person, so far all seems to be negative though, sadly. I would love it to happen!}

1.) 19 Jul 2016 07:47:48
He's massively average. Like a Sunday league version of Mascherano. Swerve.

2.) 19 Jul 2016 07:58:31
Good job ed001 didn't see you say that!

3.) 19 Jul 2016 08:10:50
Seriously Lee? Medel is anything but average. He is a far better player than Mascherano as well. If he signed, he'd be straight in our midfield next to Henderson.

He is basically Mascherano, but with actual football ability to go with the terrier like, hard tackling game.

4.) 19 Jul 2016 09:44:39
I've seen medel play quite a lot. I was a cardiff city season ticket holder when he played there. And I say with confidence that if he signed for us, we would need to have disciplined full backs, because that would be the only way in behind our defense. Medel is a beast playing just in front of the back line (far far superior to masch) . For me he would be signing of the season. Let's hope the reply you're waiting on is the answer we want ed001.

5.) 19 Jul 2016 10:33:11
Medel is a tough competitive defensively sound centre midfielder. He would make a good signing as he would give us someone who could stop attacks when we want to get a result.

6.) 19 Jul 2016 10:24:45
Average? Shows how much you've seen him then doesn't it? He's a fantastic player. A player for a while now I'd love to see in a Liverpool shirt.

7.) 19 Jul 2016 13:40:49
I don't know if anyone has noticed this or pointed it out, but these rumours about Gary Medel started after Sakho changed his number from 17 to 3. Medel plays with number 17, so it seems to me like it's just silly journalism connecting the dots.

Then again, maybe it's actually paving the way for him haha.

8.) 19 Jul 2016 17:49:25
Leej5, your post shows clearly that you have never seen him play.

9.) 19 Jul 2016 22:59:39
Better than mash! Oh my God are you for real!

10.) 20 Jul 2016 00:13:48
Griff y were u a Cardiff city season ticket holder when u support Liverpool? Odd.

17 Jul 2016 12:37:19
Morning Ed002

I read this morning that Zielinski's agent Bartolomes Bolek has come out and made a statement that the player has now made up his mind in regards to where he would like to play his football next season. but said it was a secret (? )

I did a search to see if anybody else had posted this and you have already answered it but could not find anything, and was hoping you may be able to give his secret away?

AC Milan or Liverpool?

Thanks in advance Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - THe player wants to move to Liverpool but Liverpool don't want to pay the asking price for him - so moving to Liverpool is not an option right now. Udinese have spoken and negoiated with Napoli and with Milan- they have no intention of negotiating with Liverpool who already know the asking price. Zielinski is being pressed by Milan who want an answer before they turn to one of their two options.}

1.) 17 Jul 2016 12:54:15
Thanks for the reply ED002

It sounds like a move to Liverpool is dead in the water judging by the sound of what Udinese must think of the likes of Ian Ayre et al and the tapping up saga.

It certainly doesn't do much for the clubs kudos and reputation for any future business that is to be conducted around Europe.

{Ed002's Note - It makes it difficult - but if clubs are going to do it they then should not messa round over smallish amounts of money.}

2.) 17 Jul 2016 13:22:08
I've been saying this for a while now regarding this deal. Tapping him up has poisoned the well and clearly, Udinese want nothing to do with us anymore except stick us for every penny we have which we won't stand for either. Why can't we just take a hint? Walk away!

3.) 17 Jul 2016 16:42:45
Ludicrous behavior by Liverpool on this deal.

4.) 17 Jul 2016 20:28:58
If we wanted the player enough for Klopp to speak to him wrongly and the kid wants to move to us so badly why can't we just fork up a bit more money and get this done. Either that or state we have no intention of paying more and the lad can forget about moving to us and get on with his career.

5.) 17 Jul 2016 22:51:43
because udinese don't want anything to do with us, therefore it makes it virtually impossible for us to get this deal complete, that's why Napoli and now milan are in the driving seat, let's learn our lesson from this and move on.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool know what they have to do. And have done for weeks.}

6.) 18 Jul 2016 05:56:26
We've behaved appalling with regards to this particular transfer, it is very disappointing to see.

Jeezo - City put Watford to the sword today. Fair play though, it was only expected.

If, and it's a big if, we go toe to toe with them until 21st May, it could actually boil down to what Stevie G does, when he entertains them at Villa Park on the last day of the season - wow.

If it doesn't happen, then so be it, we should be so proud that we have been in there shorts and up there backsides all season. The level, form, and standard of the football is astronomically - it has to be the highest level of football, I have ever seen in my life after sitting in the same seat in the old Kemlyn Road since 1982.

The 14th, 21st, 28th May (hopefully) is the first time I won't be pottering about outside Primark on a Saturday morning, with the rest of the bored husbands, waiting for there wives to return with 3 bags of utter rubbish that that they don't need for £8.50.

I've never loved May so much - thank you Jurgen.

1.) 23 Apr 2022 20:29:14
Problem is Stevie might care but will 11 lads with no affiliation to Liverpool playing their last game of the season before going on holiday care?

2.) 23 Apr 2022 21:44:00
They should care about remaining professional and beating the current champions in there own back yard in front of there own fans on the last day of the season, regardless of who the manager is and his affiliation to Liverpool FC.

3.) 23 Apr 2022 22:48:12
They should mate but doesn’t necessarily mean they will.

4.) 23 Apr 2022 23:40:10
Fairly sure the game is at the Etihad.

5.) 24 Apr 2022 00:18:31
It’s at the Etihad. He should park the bus and get someone to stick a reducer on De Bruyne early doors.

6.) 24 Apr 2022 04:31:07
You all rate Manchester City too highly they'll drop points and we’ll win the league on GD.

7.) 24 Apr 2022 08:29:57
It's hard to see City dropping points to be honest, they're big favourites in every game and they're into their last 5 games.

Staying hopefully but it's going to be tough!

8.) 24 Apr 2022 11:53:26
Maxx, that rhetoric of not seeing where City will/ could drop points, has been debunked by City themselves cos them dropping points to teams nobody thought they could, is why we are neck and neck with them to begin with.

IMO, I don’t think City will drop points in their home games. If they will drop pints then, it will be away from home and Leeds, Wolves and WH could be tough for them, IMO. Here’s to hoping.

20 Apr 2022 19:26:13
I barely post on here, but I read the website fanatically every day. I'd like to touch on something bitter sweet

I was at the game last night and something occurred to me, that I already knew, but wasn't quite aware of the actual power and presence that is Jurgen Klopp.

See the class we shown on 7th minutes, clapping and singing YNWA for Ronaldo, that was spine tingling, humane, mature, the right thing to do, respect, being a parent and again nothing but class, from every single Liverpool fan, the stewards, the pundits, the young girl selling the pies - everyone. Take a bow Anfield, take a bow.

It was only after the game I realised, maybe that might of not happened under other managers, maybe (please don't dig me out if that doesn't apply to you - just saying) and what I think is, is the top class club and. Fans we have become under the influence of Klopp, from the tea lady to the players, to the coaching staff to the 12th man - us

What made me realise this, after doing what we did on the 7th minute, the UTD fans decided to sing what they sung (I categorically refute to repeat the words - I'm sure you know what I mean) and the gulf between the two clubs, in todays modern game is astronomically - in every sense of the word.

That is down to one man, his kudos, his philosophy, his manners, his genius, his presence.

Jurgen Klopp is bigger than God

1.) 20 Apr 2022 21:27:41
Great Post mate, I said the same about the United fans but mine didn't get posted. We put then to shame last night. they would never of done what we did for Ronaldo and that's a fac.

2.) 20 Apr 2022 22:22:32
Thanks Marty Mcfly. Like ED025, I’m a bit of an alarse as they say and never really post anything unless it’s something significant. I’ve had my season ticket in the same seat since the old Kemlyn Road days la, and I’ve never seen or heard what I seen last night in over 35 years of sitting there against a Man Utd side, mainly because the rivalry was always so Intense over the years. Last night to me was something special, and I think it was because of the respect Klopp has driven through us all as fans and as people, and the level he has now elevated us to, and because UTD are so below us now, in pride, in level, in quality and in kudos is frightening.

They did knock us off our perch temporarily - but we are now top of the tree and kings of the jungle.

3.) 21 Apr 2022 08:44:51
Great post, OP. I fully agree with many points you make. That tribute to Ronaldo and his fam really melted my heart and I even clapped along on y sofa. Great touch by the club and fans. YNWA!

4.) 23 Apr 2022 07:12:45
Shame the United fans ruined it.

29 Sep 2021 05:46:46
Alright lads and the Ed's

I don't post often, but I have to say this,

See the transfer fury that comes upon us every summer. The €100m striker returning, the messiah returning to UTD, the £100m midfielder with his socks half way down his calves and a hair band keeping his flowing locks out of his luscious blue eyes.

And then there's us. Just cracking away in the back ground, as skint as a church door mouse. Coming down the road.

To me that's Klopp all over, and I absolutely the love the Purist working class skint element to our club right now, .

I know as I type this ED25 will bleat on and on how we spent big in 2018 on Ali and Fabs blah blah blah but we only did it once, not Year on year out like our competitors

All hail Jurgen - the peoples Manager.

1.) 29 Sep 2021 06:46:23
Klopp has obviously improved almost every player. Allison, Virgil, Thiago and Fab were the finished article. He's turned Trent, Robbo, Mane, Salah, into truly world class and vastly improved almost every other player.

{Ed0666's Note - Keita being the caveat. He’s somehow got worse

2.) 29 Sep 2021 06:56:14
Oh no. It was all going so well until 'peoples manager' just reminded me of the slogan Evertons spin Dr's thought up for David Moyes. Otherwise very good post. Obviously we can't compete for massive money signings every transfer window but the recruitment we've done over the past few years has produced far more hits than misses, added to that some young players are getting chances and it's exciting times.

3.) 29 Sep 2021 07:26:40
We can’t compete for big money signings in the transfer windows and Klopp is the equaliser in this. Even though it’s a few years down the line my worry is how do we bridge that gap when he is gone.

4.) 29 Sep 2021 10:39:02
Naby is ‘the exception that proves the rule’ Ed0666.

5.) 29 Sep 2021 12:13:38
Curtis Jones has now overtaken Naby’s place in the squad imho. Looks a far more accomplished and hard working player at 20.

{Ed001's Note - Naby's place in the squad? You mean he has his own treatment table now?}

6.) 29 Sep 2021 14:23:53
I'd put that Tyler Morton lad over Naby right now.

7.) 29 Sep 2021 22:17:11
Very impressed with Tyler Morton, I actually know little of him but he seems like he could even back up fabinho as deepest midfielder soon. looking forward to see him possibly start at preston.

8.) 29 Sep 2021 18:49:00
Ed001, 😂😂😂😂😂 that was savage yet true.

12 Aug 2021 08:57:12
Good morning ED002 - I hope you are well.

You mentioned a couple of days ago that Saul Niguez is still seen as a viable option. If AM do not receive any serious interest form other clubs prior to the current transfer window closing, and taking into account his €300 a week wages with 5 years left on his contract, would AM consider a payment plan similar to how the Thiago and Jota contracts were set up?

{Ed002's Note - They need cash as they have financial worries and are looking to keep certain players.}

1.) 12 Aug 2021 09:57:19
OK thanks for the reply - is Edwards waiting to guarantee the sales of Shaq / Origi / Philips / others before making a formal offer for the player, or any other players the club are interested in?

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure Liverpool will definitely be making an offer as there are other interested sides, but they do need to raise money. Paying over a period is what makes Sanches attractive.}

2.) 12 Aug 2021 10:01:28
ed002 I think are top earners are on about £200k a week if Saul is on €300k a week that's about £255k a week that would cause a lot of trouble so he would he to take a big pay cut.
Is Saul eager to move could help negotiations to try and get a deal done.
I think am just still hoping and dreaming we sign him over Sanchez.

{Ed002's Note - As I have said, others sides are interested and I don't see why he would look to reducing his wages if Liverpool were to find the money and make a bid.}

3.) 12 Aug 2021 10:25:05
Ed002 Spanish and Italian football seems to be in massive financial turmoil. French footballl are the same with exception of PSG. Should the premier league clubs be taking note of this with the writing on the wall of what’s possibly to come?

For me this is a big season for English football as last season was one of the dullest I’ve witnessed with far too much negative football and not playing to win and adding to that the huge increase in play acting and Var. I’ve cancelled my sports subscription for this season (I’ve paid for it every season for the last 22 years) and will now go down the route of trying to stream every game. If more fans start switching off from the tv deals then the cash cow will surely start to run dry.

{Ed002's Note - The problems in France were compounded by the loss of the broadcasting deal. Some, but not all, Spanish clubs have financial problems and it is the same in Italy. In England the pandamic has hit clubs hard but many are well enough run and don't accumulate debt so they can to some extent cope with the losses. It is likely to get better from here rather than worse.}

4.) 12 Aug 2021 10:40:06
OK - thanks ED002.

5.) 12 Aug 2021 11:12:40
The appeal of paying over a long period of time is completely negligible if the player we’re paying for has a horrendous injury record. He can’t even play the holding role either, which is really what we need cover for. Would be a completely needless signing and i’d honestly rather wait a few months for a Bissouma or Saul to become viable rather than sign Sanches for the sake of it.

{Ed002's Note - Why would Saul or Bissouma become viable in January?}

6.) 12 Aug 2021 11:22:05
Because we're going to have a whip round on here after we all get our Xmas money, get that extra £10-20m together to buy one of them outright.

7.) 12 Aug 2021 12:06:26
Thanks for the update, Ed02 regarding Sanches and the impact the CV has had on clubs all over Europe.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

06 Aug 2021 15:44:26

Can I ask a potentially silly question - the situation at Barcelona with Messi, is this going to apply to Aguero too or is his signing within the La Liga FFP rules?

Or are Barcelona in that much trouble financially?

{Ed002's Note - There is a total cap that the club can spend on wages. With Messi off the books it means others such as Aguero can be added. They are also pushing to get Griezmann off the books who also earns huge amounts.}

1.) 06 Aug 2021 16:39:06
Thanks ED002 - have a groovy gin filled weekend

2.) 06 Aug 2021 19:29:34
It seems that there have been a few mistakes on the money side - Barcelona were clearly expecting some greater revenue generated from player sales but signed others like aguero and depay. At the same point they have reached a situation where Messi is costing the club too much, why didn't they accept the offer last summer? Any decent auditor could tell there was an issue there. perhaps a firesale on the likes of coutinho et Al?

3.) 07 Aug 2021 08:02:41
Well it seems like Aguero now wants out as well due to Messi, his bestie leaving the club, according to latest reports. A true crap show at the club right now.

ED002 - further down the page it would appear we can scratch R Sanchez, Saul Niguez, Neuhaus and Bissouma due to varying reasons. You have also stated that you do still expect Liverpool to make a signing in this window.

Are you able to tell us if that player is a midfielder or the versatile forward the club are seemingly both looking for? Or both still?

{Ed002's Note - Right now a versatile forward seems more likely.}

ED002 - I read on the European site that AM would accept €60M for Saul Niguez as a upfront payment, or €75M on terms (I am presuming, when you say terms, it’s referring to a payment plan similar to Thiago and Jota)

The interest in R Sanchez seems to now have gone due to him requiring surgery, and Bissouma is too expensive, does that leave SN as the most viable option now to Liverpool on a payment plan? Also presuming if another club don’t come in with the €60M upfront which AM would surely prefer, plus negotiation on his €300k a week wages.

Or has interest moved elsewhere?

{Ed002's Note - It is true that Sanchez will be out for a few weeks so Liverpool would need to wait until January but I would doubt Saul will be joining as it stands right now.}

ED0666 - now Messi has left Barca, do you expect them to push to sign Saul?

Also, I’ve scanned all the other rumours websites plus the European pages to lads if I can find out if any other EPL sides are looking at Saul but could not find anything. Do you happen to know where there is serious intetrst?

{Ed0666's Note - I really don’t think Barca are in any position to sign Saul without departures. If I was a betting man Saul will be a Inited player but I’m hoping Edwards has a rabbit up his sleeve but hoping those rabbits aren’t Sanchez and Bowen.

I was also thinking about the bottom of the table and the consequences that would of caused, when Patrick Viera was assaulted.

If there was a zero tolerance and a 5 point deduction - then the consequences are literally in the hands of the fans, so you would like to think they may think twice about doing it.

The FA should introduce a zero tolerance policy and an instant 5 point deduction to teams who cannot control there fans from running onto the pitch - maybe the fans will think twice about doing it then.

Listen lads, Im a born and bread scouser, and like every other scouser in the city, like it or loathe it, 50% of your family and your best mates are reds, 50% of them are blues - that’s just the way it is.

I genuinely hope the blues stay up, it would be so bad for the city if they got relegated and not to have a Derby each year would be a disaster in my opinion.

When the fixtures come out, the first game I always look for is the Derby, to me it’s the best day of the year.

This is just my own opinion BTW so don’t dig me out, but I hope they do stay up, for the sake of the city more than anything and looking forward to the derbies every season.

For me it’s about the city more than anything else. There’s reds and blues in my family and mates and derby day is something special to us all - as scousers
