Morning EDS,

Do you know if the club have received any interest in signing or loaning Sakho in the last 2 weeks or so? I am aware of what you have stated about interest previously and that we have out priced him to potential suitors.

If he is not sold or loaned out by September 01st, how will his season pan out as it seems he certainly won't be included in the squad? Will he play in the reserve games etc? or do you think a deal will eventually be done?

Best Regards.

{Ed001's Note - his injury is keeping interest down mate. He will have to play for the reserves if no deal is done, though I suspect we will find a way to get him out, even if only on loan.}

1.) 09 Aug 2017 07:45:05
We seem to be between a rock and a hard place with him being injured especially with the price we have put on his head, maybe the club need to lower there expectations a little bit?

Do you know when he potentially could be ready for first team competitive football?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry.}

2.) 09 Aug 2017 08:03:27
Thanks ED.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

3.) 09 Aug 2017 12:10:25
I know it has been done to death, and I don't full know what happened behind the scenes or in front of the cameras that made his and klopps relationship break down, but it still seems like biting your nose of to spite your face. He is arguably our best centre back (in my opinion he is) and would be a very welcome addition to the squad without spending a penny. We are thinking of spending £50M on VVD, but I am sure if you offered Klopp £10M to forget whatever happened it could all be solved!

Won't happen so don't shoot me just thinking and writing.

4.) 09 Aug 2017 12:50:54
we offered Klopp £10M to forget whatever happened is the daftest thing I have heard on here ever. and he is not that good plus he is trouble just take the £20m people are offering job done.

5.) 09 Aug 2017 13:06:34
I think simply offering someone money to forget something happened is bribery! It would mean that there is no integrity left at the club. Not that there is a lot at the moment.

6.) 09 Aug 2017 13:58:36
Klopps professional conduct regarding transfers this summer make Sahkos transgressions seem insignificant.

Klopp should take a look at his own behaviour and consider giving Sakho another chance in the first team squad,

At least the player is then in the shop window, not whiling away his large contract in the reserves.

A blindman could see this was better for the club from a financial perspective,

Whats the worst that could happen?

That Sahko doesn't take his chance and we wnd up back where we are now.

But if he takes his chance he could be worth 50 million.

Its unthinkable that this option hasn't been discussed,

But nothing surprises me about the LFC hierarchy these days.

7.) 09 Aug 2017 15:24:51
In the know then LFCder?

Do you know the full circumstances?

Come on, do tell!

8.) 09 Aug 2017 15:28:01
what is it with fans and sakho being are best defender the same fans that say VVd is not that good. am all for support your players but saying there better than they are is just stupid that's why we do not win any thing overhyped players getting paid to much money. Lucas was another one was not good enough but at least he was a model professional Sakho is just trouble and not worth the space in the squad. bamby on ice just another Balotelli but without the talent.

Good afternoon ED001

I have done a search but found no updates on the Gary "Pitbull" Medel rumours that surfaced a couple of days ago, and I was wondering if you did that triple check to find out?

I very rarely write in about rumours, but this would be the coup of the summer, if true that is?

Thanks in advance Ed.

{Ed001's Note - I am still waiting to hear back, he is another one that we have not been tracking, so it would be a spur of the moment move if we are trying to get him. Similar to Wijnaldum. Hopefully Klopp's spur of the moment purchases are better than mine.}

1.) 20 Jul 2016 15:43:56
Thanks for your reply mate

I really hope it happens, but can't help but think it is just another name that has been randomly pulled out of the bag by the red tops et al

Fingers crossed.

2.) 20 Jul 2016 17:15:45
I like him as a player myself, but one of my mates is a massive Inter fan. When I mentioned it he was more than happy to say the least, said we'd be better off with Brozovic but he wouldn't want him to leave.

Time will tell though. I'd love him, bodies flying everywhere! be great!

19 Jul 2016 07:15:23
Good Morning ED001

I was wondering if you did manage to seek any information in regards to yesterdays rumours that started to circulate about Gary Medel and that Klopp was interested in bringing him to the club?

I think you said you were going to triple check! so apologies if i'm a little early

Thanks in advance Ed.

{Ed001's Note - not heard back yet from one person, so far all seems to be negative though, sadly. I would love it to happen!}

1.) 19 Jul 2016 07:47:48
He's massively average. Like a Sunday league version of Mascherano. Swerve.

2.) 19 Jul 2016 07:58:31
Good job ed001 didn't see you say that!

3.) 19 Jul 2016 08:10:50
Seriously Lee? Medel is anything but average. He is a far better player than Mascherano as well. If he signed, he'd be straight in our midfield next to Henderson.

He is basically Mascherano, but with actual football ability to go with the terrier like, hard tackling game.

4.) 19 Jul 2016 09:44:39
I've seen medel play quite a lot. I was a cardiff city season ticket holder when he played there. And I say with confidence that if he signed for us, we would need to have disciplined full backs, because that would be the only way in behind our defense. Medel is a beast playing just in front of the back line (far far superior to masch) . For me he would be signing of the season. Let's hope the reply you're waiting on is the answer we want ed001.

5.) 19 Jul 2016 10:33:11
Medel is a tough competitive defensively sound centre midfielder. He would make a good signing as he would give us someone who could stop attacks when we want to get a result.

6.) 19 Jul 2016 10:24:45
Average? Shows how much you've seen him then doesn't it? He's a fantastic player. A player for a while now I'd love to see in a Liverpool shirt.

7.) 19 Jul 2016 13:40:49
I don't know if anyone has noticed this or pointed it out, but these rumours about Gary Medel started after Sakho changed his number from 17 to 3. Medel plays with number 17, so it seems to me like it's just silly journalism connecting the dots.

Then again, maybe it's actually paving the way for him haha.

8.) 19 Jul 2016 17:49:25
Leej5, your post shows clearly that you have never seen him play.

9.) 19 Jul 2016 22:59:39
Better than mash! Oh my God are you for real!

10.) 20 Jul 2016 00:13:48
Griff y were u a Cardiff city season ticket holder when u support Liverpool? Odd.

17 Jul 2016 12:37:19
Morning Ed002

I read this morning that Zielinski's agent Bartolomes Bolek has come out and made a statement that the player has now made up his mind in regards to where he would like to play his football next season. but said it was a secret (? )

I did a search to see if anybody else had posted this and you have already answered it but could not find anything, and was hoping you may be able to give his secret away?

AC Milan or Liverpool?

Thanks in advance Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - THe player wants to move to Liverpool but Liverpool don't want to pay the asking price for him - so moving to Liverpool is not an option right now. Udinese have spoken and negoiated with Napoli and with Milan- they have no intention of negotiating with Liverpool who already know the asking price. Zielinski is being pressed by Milan who want an answer before they turn to one of their two options.}

1.) 17 Jul 2016 12:54:15
Thanks for the reply ED002

It sounds like a move to Liverpool is dead in the water judging by the sound of what Udinese must think of the likes of Ian Ayre et al and the tapping up saga.

It certainly doesn't do much for the clubs kudos and reputation for any future business that is to be conducted around Europe.

{Ed002's Note - It makes it difficult - but if clubs are going to do it they then should not messa round over smallish amounts of money.}

2.) 17 Jul 2016 13:22:08
I've been saying this for a while now regarding this deal. Tapping him up has poisoned the well and clearly, Udinese want nothing to do with us anymore except stick us for every penny we have which we won't stand for either. Why can't we just take a hint? Walk away!

3.) 17 Jul 2016 16:42:45
Ludicrous behavior by Liverpool on this deal.

4.) 17 Jul 2016 20:28:58
If we wanted the player enough for Klopp to speak to him wrongly and the kid wants to move to us so badly why can't we just fork up a bit more money and get this done. Either that or state we have no intention of paying more and the lad can forget about moving to us and get on with his career.

5.) 17 Jul 2016 22:51:43
because udinese don't want anything to do with us, therefore it makes it virtually impossible for us to get this deal complete, that's why Napoli and now milan are in the driving seat, let's learn our lesson from this and move on.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool know what they have to do. And have done for weeks.}

6.) 18 Jul 2016 05:56:26
We've behaved appalling with regards to this particular transfer, it is very disappointing to see.

25 Nov 2015 21:19:00
Good Evening Eds,

ED002, if you are about. over the last 12 months or so, you have wrote some really interesting articles in regards to the pan European breakaway in which I have read with great interest

You have mentioned the meetings that take place (every 6 months in Monaco? . I might be wrong)

Has there been any meetings in the last 3 to 6 months that have happened, and if so, could you share any info that may of come out of them?

Or is it still work in progress?

Is it still attended by the G14? If I remember rightly this all the clubs who have won the Champions league since Porto in 2004

When it comes to the breakaway, how will it be decided what clubs go into it?

And who will be the governing body?

Apologies in advance if you may of answered these questions before . I thought I would try and bring a conversation to the table away from Klipperty etc as I have really enjoyed reading your lengthy and informative replies on this topic before

All the best

kemlynroad65.

{Ed002's Note - The meetings were annually but now they happen two and sometimes three times a year. There is a meeting in December - and there will be a discussion about the state of FIFA, the situation with UEFA and a so far unpublished claim from a retired referee that the result of a Champions League game was influenced by a third party. The last meeting was at the end of August and included discussions about media rights and a proposal from two clubs that Timing wise, two very prominent clubs, club vs country issues and a proposal to change the forma of the UEFA League. Much of the time was taken up with a proposal from two sides who wish to see a breakaway league much sooner than has other wise been discussed. It went to a vote where they had support from one other side with two abstaining.

In terms of attendees it includes some but not all of the G14 sides. The sides that eventually have the opportunity to go in to a breakaway in the first instance will be the sides partaking in the meetings.

They have been unable to agree on a Governing body, but it will need to be new and independent.}

1.) 26 Nov 2015 10:52:44
Many thanks for the info, both appreciated and interesting.

As Liverpool had representatives in the original G14 (I have noticed this was disbanded in 2008 and replaced by a European FA with around a 100 clubs in it now) . do we still have a presence at these Monaco meetings?

Also Eds, have any more discussions taken place in regards to travelling / away fans, and if the clubs that do breakaway are actually going to have an away section in the ground?

Best regards.

{Ed002's Note - The European Club Association has no involvement in any of this, nor in anything else of note. Liverpool are not involved in any of the discussions. All fans will be welcome to the games.}

2.) 26 Nov 2015 12:08:54
I know you say it is going to happen, I just think it will be bad for football. I know it needs to be restructured a bit, but who will be able to afford to go to away games more than once or twice a season if it was across Europe. I'm not sure how many teams you said would be in the league, but I recall you saying there would eventually be two leagues, but without champions league games, and say for English teams, no fa cup or league cup games, that's a lot less games. I know there will be more good games on, if there is another league, but I would still support Liverpool, presumably still in the epl, watch their games and only watch other games when I have time.
If the champions league was still around it would be Europa league teams mostly with a few extras.
Again, I know you said it is happening, but I pray it doesn't.

{Ed002's Note - There is little doubt that eventually this will happen. I hold a reasonably strong view in terms of the need to restructure football in Europe in any case. For me an eventual a breakaway pan-European league would force the restructuring of many of the national leagues, possibly resulting in a British league with perhaps only a couple of professional tiers and then regionalised amateur leagues below that. Financially I do not see that so many English pro sides can be sustained within the sport which, like it or not, will see more and more money going in to the highest levels of the game. Governments will ensure that grassroots sport get funding but everything in the middle (Southern, Northern, Conference, Division 2, Scottish Divisions 1-3, League of Wales will not get the funding needed to continue on any sort of professional basis.}

3.) 30 Nov 2015 14:44:05
Is it possible that clubs could field two teams, one in the "EPL" and one in their national league with players being interchanged. Would they be allowed to?

{Ed002's Note - No - that won't happen. Once the clubs go they will go for good.}

ED001 and 2

Good morning to you both.

If feasible, could you tell us if Michael Edwards or representatives / agents of Liverpool FC have been in contact / talks with any other clubs, club representatives or agents in regards to the purchase of there players, say in the last 3 to 4 weeks or so, and who they maybe?

I appreciate it if you would rather not and spark a frenzy.

All the best.

Kemlyn.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained where I know of interest and that means they will have spoken to agents.}

1.) 28 Jul 2021 12:12:00
Thank you ED002.

2.) 28 Jul 2021 15:43:10
What an awesome phrasing of a question. I'm going to use that formula to ask all my questions going forward.

Hi Ed001, can you advise if Klopp/ Mangement Have/ do not have the squad or playing personal to win/ challenge for the Premier league this / upcoming season without a new midfielder such as bissouma / Saul?

{Ed001's Note - yes/maybe/possibly they could/should do.}

3.) 28 Jul 2021 15:47:39
Brilliant Ed001 😂.

4.) 28 Jul 2021 17:23:22
Davey Sults that was the worst / most confusing questions / post I have ever read / seen.

5.) 28 Jul 2021 18:38:22
Ed001,

If feasible, could you tell us if either yourself or any other Eds or representatives / agents of any of the Eds have been in contact / talks with the archiving team in regards to re-submitting the Liverpool vs Southampton review post in order for those of us who missed it to read it within next 3 to 4 weeks or so?

{Ed001's Note - you will be getting that on Friday as I will be out tomorrow for my bday so no time to do any articles. When you have a big birthday like your 21st, you have to celebrate in style right?}

6.) 28 Jul 2021 19:39:55
Happy B Day, Ed01. Pls, drink responsibly cos I know this is your first time.

{Ed001's Note - if by drink you mean not too much fruit juice so you don't get the runs, I will be careful.}

7.) 28 Jul 2021 20:29:51
Fair play kemlyn, that was an original way to ask a familiar question.

Happy birthday for tomorrow ed001, they say 80 is the new 40, so that would make you 49, right?

{Ed001's Note - ouch harsh that! You seem to have me mixed up with one of the other editors!}

8.) 28 Jul 2021 21:12:12
Your 21st Tris with a hell of a lot VAT added mate🥳.

{Ed001's Note - it seems you can't get away from VAT anywhere these days Bazza.}

26 Jul 2020 18:45:07
In the words of Nena

99 red balloons go by.

{Ed025's Note - balloons being the operative word KR, if they had not took their foot off the gas they could have made history mate..

1.) 26 Jul 2020 19:27:06
Im glad they didn’t as hopefully they have the hunger to do it next year, they know they are capable.

2.) 26 Jul 2020 20:31:17
We did make history. Plenty of records this season. Title done with 7 games to go. Like a fifth of the season left!

3.) 26 Jul 2020 19:26:21
ED025 - you don’t win anything for the amount of points you have collated over season, you win things for having more points than anyone else.

There is no trophy for “we got 100 points plus”.

{Ed025's Note - i know that KR, but with the stellar season you had it would have been nice to make history as well, your kidding nobody if you dont think setting a record is not the icing on the cake mate..

4.) 26 Jul 2020 20:02:58
We did make history Ed0025. We won our first premier league title.

{Ed025's Note - yes you did JK, but to do it better than everyone else has ever done would have been nice mate..

5.) 26 Jul 2020 22:27:37
It wouldn't have been the icing on the cake. That refers the title isn't as good now. It would've been like a small double choc chip cookie obscured by the big lovely frothy cake!

Do we hold the record for the most guards of honour?!

6.) 26 Jul 2020 23:27:54
25 is right. I remember Ed002 a bit before lockdown saying that a record point total was more a question of by how much rather than an if. There's no way other teams won't be much closer next season and the chance to beat 100 points may be quite elusive.

7.) 27 Jul 2020 01:08:22
I wanted the record! but when I'd seen we lifted the trophy on the same day we landed on 96 points, that was a far greater story for me.

8.) 27 Jul 2020 03:38:17
I was half hoping we will loose so we finish season on 96.

{Ed0666's Note - I agree pal would have been so fitting.

29 Dec 2018 15:33:20
ED002

Thank you for the Sharkopod, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't realise you were also the voice of The Mysterons too

If you can be bothered one day I'd love to hear a Sharkopod with just your groovy tunes on it, without any transfer gossip, that would be mega :)

All the best for the new year

KR65.

{Ed002's Note - Well thanks.}

1.) 29 Dec 2018 16:39:18
Looking forward to listening on the drive home later.

Thanks E002 :)

2.) 29 Dec 2018 19:58:03
Where is the sharkopod please Ed? Hope all the Eds and fellow reds had a good holiday.

{Ed002's Note - Have a hunt around the website - I don’t know where it is.}

10 Dec 2018 19:28:32
Good evening ED001

I was wondering if you have done a player profile on Adriano, the Brazilian lad who was at Inter?

I read a short article on him over the weekend how he is back living in a favela in Brazil, kicking about with the local gangsters and not up to much good - I thought it would be interesting for you to research and of course for us lot to read, if you haven't done it already? If you have where can I find the article as I would like to read it?

All the best

Kemlyn.

{Ed001's Note - I haven't. It was only being discussed the other day on one of the other sites, I think Arsenal, what to do as he does not really qualify as a legend. But I do intend to do an article on him and will do a profile to go along with it.}

1.) 10 Dec 2018 19:50:13
Brilliant thanks mate, I’ll look forward to reading it as always 👍🏾.

{Ed001's Note - bear with me though, I have a backlog to get through first!}

2.) 10 Dec 2018 20:07:50
Yeah I know mate, I read them all to be honest and always enjoy them, plus the post match and daily reviews too, it’s a daily routine.

All the best

Kemlyn.

{Ed001's Note - you know I still can't get used to that, people actually wanting to read what I write!}

3.) 10 Dec 2018 20:30:26
I look forward to the post match reviews the most as you always pick up on a lot I don’t or I have missed (guilty of watching the ball than the play)

For example I remember somebody was moaning about Henderson always passing sideways and you made a comment about watching his head, when the ball is 6ft away from him receiving it, and it will be positioned 180 degree away from the ball, always looking to move it on and create an attack, but has the ability not to when nothing is on and retain possession which is very clever play

I’ve watched him closely since you said that and he does it every time, so it’s the little things like that, that make you watch the next game in a bit of a different way

Cheers

Kemlyn.

{Ed001's Note - I am glad to help in that way. My grandad used to always do that for me as a kid, he would see things that others missed and point them out to me. I am just glad to be able to do that for others.}

4.) 10 Dec 2018 20:56:09
Adriano was a cracking player and had a beast of a left foot on him. i remember him from his Parma days (Football Italia on channel 4) and when he first moved to Inter, shame how things turn out.

5.) 10 Dec 2018 20:54:04
You’ve got a very personable style of writing Ed, always worth reading even if I’ve no interest in the subject matter. I write myself, had a life changing diagnosis this year so I’m looking at possibilities to take it up professionally. Got one thing in particular might be good for this site, would you want to give it a read? And how would I get it to you?

{Ed033's Note - You could send it through our contact form (look for Contact Us at the bottom of the page).

6.) 10 Dec 2018 21:06:32
Send it through Matt, always good to read peoples work mate!

7.) 11 Dec 2018 05:45:48
Didn't he always struggles with discipline off the pitch, remember something about his mom intervening or something at some point, could be wrong but I am sure I read that some where.

8.) 11 Dec 2018 08:00:11
Adriano was a great player. It seemed to turn bad for him after his dad died I think it was. The BBC have been doing articles (BBC 3 maybe) on past players like Nedved and Adriano which have brought back some memories! I'm sure a quick search will locate them, they're pretty interesting reads.

10 Dec 2018 19:26:32
Brover,

Thanks for the insight mate, it does seem such a shame about what happened to his career.

Was his Dads death gang / money related?

I think I’ll do some reading up on it as I get the feeling the player profile might not happen now 🤦🏽‍♂️

Cheers.

ED002 - hope you are well this morning.

Can I ask - do you happen to know if Saul Niguez is prepared to take pay cut on his €300k a week wages or is he happy to stay at AM and run his contract down, until a club agrees to match, or get somewhere near his current deal?

Also, you recently stated his release clause is €150M but nobody is prepared to match it but AM would consider a high fee for him - do you know how much AM would accept?

Regards,

Kemlyn.

{Ed002's Note - His contract has five years to run so he won't be running it down. It has been mentioned to another club that €75M would be enough.}

I remember having to take my youngest all the way to JJB in Chester to get a signed copy of Graeme Sharpes book in his full Liverpool kit, to get a picture of them together.

The Derby’s were full bloodied back then, but the mutual respect after I thought was commendable, it was never as toxic as it has now become. It’s such a shame IMO the way the game has gone.

The FA Cup finals were my best away day memories . only cos we had to muck into together in the VIP bit on the train that we hadn’t paid for lol.

ED002 - Who scouts the scouts?

{Ed002's Note - Typically there are a number of people that a club retains or employs regarding the "scouting" of players including a permanent Chief Scout and a perhaps a Head of International Scouting who all will report in to the club via a Director of Football or whatever. There is also normally someone who co-ordinates all of the reports and ensures that they go to the correct person. Obviously no one at the first team level is going to see or be interested in any reports related to kids so there is a hierarchy that deals with young kids, potential academy players up to the first team squad. There are then scouts retained (sometimes on a permanent basis, sometimes on a part time basis and sometimes on an ad hoc basis) by clubs to cover specific countries and/or areas of the world - France, South America, Adriatic & Old Eastern Bloc, Iberia etc.. On top of that there will be freelance scouts (often ex-referees and amateur club staff who will stay within their particular area of expertise and region). Once a player has been looked at a couple of times and reports reviewed, then someone from further up this chain will take a look. Eventually a chief scout will take a look, or if it is a potential first team player, then perhaps a coach or a manager will take a look. Some clubs also have advisors which include, taking one EPL side as an example, ex-managers or highly respected people within the game.

There are then scouts retained by the club in specific countries and areas of the world - France, South America, Adriatic & Old Eastern Bloc, Iberia etc.. On top of that there are both formal and informal "advisors" who often have an opinion to give - some of these are very well known people.

Within the English game, particularly at lower-levels and with youngsters, scouts often include ex-coaches and referees at that level.

With younger kiddies clubs often restrict their search area by distance - Southampton has a fan shaped catchment area stretching out from Southampton and up to Swindon to the Northwest and the outer-reaches of the metropolis to the Northeast. Sunday league and youth games in this area will often see someone scouting on behalf of Southampton as they concentrate on local talent.

The London clubs, such as West Ham, have the benefit of two multi-tiered clubs that have developed numerous players who have gone on to play at the highest level - Chelsea, Spurs and West Ham have always had a good relationship with one in particular - Senrab.}

Ok thanks ED001 - appreciate your a busy man with all the sites

Do you or ED002 know if AM would accept a payment plan for Saul, similar to Jota and Thiago to get him, his €300k a week wages and the remaining 5 years of his contract off the books?

Regards,
Kemlyn.

{Ed001's Note - I would assume they would, if that was all they could get, but they would obviously prefer as much money up front as possible. They are financially hamstrung like we are, so want ready cash.}

ED001 - do you know if there has been any communication between Athetlico Madrid / Liverpool / club representatives or agents, in regards to a possible move to Liverpool for Saul?

Regards,

Kemlyn.

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of no, but I have been lost in doing articles all summer, so I could easily have missed it.}
