I think tonight will be a massive gauge as to whether Slot has the dressing room or not.

I just think we will see it in the performance, if he’s not got the players backing I can’t see him being here in January 2026.

How could it go so wrong, something must be happening behind the scenes, but what?

{Ed025's Note - thats ayone,s guess Johno..

09 Dec 2025 19:13:17
We'll be lucky if we get a draw tonight - that Inter team are looking very good this season. The leagues gone, I'd like to see us go all the way in the CL but we have Slot as our manager. Enough said.

09 Dec 2025 19:58:43
Salah, I think this season is finished for us already.

I am staggered by how much has gone wrong and how little Slot has done to remedy that!

Agree1

09 Dec 2025 20:56:46
First half down, players look alright to me.

@conslfc, not sure that the season is over just yet. I think the squad we have could grow together as the season goes on. At the very least I’m optimistic that the team might show us how well they are capable of playing.

If you put all the social media chatter, the overwhelming majority of which is people adding 2 + 2 and getting about 37, the club has two basic problems;

1. Getting the head coach to devise a system that best suits the squad we have.
2. What to do with Mo Salah.

On the first point it seems that the club are, at least publicly, making a show of backing Slot. On the second one, despite the clubs using their social media outlets to send out a message that they want Salah to stay, I suspect that they might be open to moving him on.

Of course, the chatter will persist until the club changes it’s stance or Slot devises a way of enabling the team to play well and win regularly.

As I said at the beginning, I’m a glass half full person and I think there are good things to come before the season ends.

I can't believe Salah is getting so much stick, yes he hasn't been playing well but that can be said about the entire team. Ekitike and Szob plus Chiesa are the only ones worthy of praise and it seems Slot is doing his best to put the breaks on Ekitike's form, I still can't understand the logic behind Chiesa? He's been brilliant and can play on the left or right up top, I fell asleep the other day once more abd awoke to Chiesa clearing a ball off the goal line. The guy always puts a shift in and has to be an improvement on Gakpo.

What is going on at the club. Yes we rode our luck last season but also played some great attacking footy, we looked dangerous on the counter attack. Was the rot setting in then. Football is a funny old game and Slot seems to have coached the decency out of our entire squad and makes the most strange decisions. What puzzles me more is he refuses to actually change anything.

Come in Ed's what's going on in your opinions and what will resolve it, we could get any defenders in and Slot's dog system (doom and gloom) will get them playing awfully, not excusing Konate and the last game for the pen was insanity. I don't see things improving under Slot.

Can I back out of the sportsman's bet with Ed025! I take full responsibility for our awful form as I should never gamble.

A little wait for our next one, be lucky to finish in the top 4 Ynwa 🏆.

{Ed025's Note - no welching on the bet SM, or i will see you in court mate.. :)

09 Dec 2025 18:43:18
As suggested on here there might be more to the story than meets the eye, if not then a player who isn't playing well and gets dropped shouldn't really be publicly moaning to the media. If however we have been trying to move him on behind the scenes and he has got wind of it after signing a new deal you can understand the frustration.

I don't think we could currently put a starting 11 together of players playing well at the minute.

Agree1

09 Dec 2025 19:07:40
Think there is far more going on behind the scenes than we can realize. Yes Mo shouldn't be going public with a sulk but he's also been a fantastic star for the club,

Have to agree with the 11 players comment.

Hope we show good intent tonight against inter.

Agree0

09 Dec 2025 19:27:23
Yeah me too, it's about time we put in a performance win, lose or draw.
Undoubtedly he has been a star, if he would have said that he'll knuckle down and work his way back into the team then great, the fact he feels like a scapegoat suggests other things are going off.

If he does get a move away im sure we will get more details.

Agree1

09 Dec 2025 19:44:46
People really are doing some mental gymnastics to justify what Salah did. When Ronaldo did something similar at Manchester United we were laughing our heads off at how petulant he was.

Agree2

09 Dec 2025 20:44:42
For me it's not about justifying anything, far more going on than Salah throwing his toys out the pram. Forget united and Ronaldo and focus on problems far closer to home.

Agree1

09 Dec 2025 16:59:32
I have to admit I was wrong about Alonso and always going with 3421. On Transfermarkt you can see all his games and click to find results, formations etc. There was quite a few games he played 4231.

Now not many but does show he was finding his feet and system. His main system is the 3421 though and Wirtz was always the 10 even in the rare time he played the 4231. Frimpong played at rwb and RB.

{Ed001's Note - he plays the system he believes suits the players he has. When he had a blank slate, he went with a back four though.}

09 Dec 2025 17:34:43
You are right there ed1 and I've just looked and I was wrong again as at Madrid he's playing 433/ 4231/ 4141. So very adaptable.

Agree1

09 Dec 2025 16:20:22
Great breakdown from the Adam Cleary channel on YouTube about are we better without Mo?
Also the good the bad the football podcast is one to watch. Great take by Nicky Butt on the Salah situation comparing it to Stam, Keane, Beckham and how the manager rightly or wrongly sold them to maintain his control of leadership on the club.

09 Dec 2025 16:43:22
Keegan, love Adam Cleary's videos. He is also super hilarious despite doing serious work. love the guy.

If Nicky Butt did say that then, it seems this is the same thing Slot has done. The only diff. here is that Fergie was still winning leagues and all that whereas Slot is staring down the sack. There are levels to this "control of the club" stuff.

Agree2

09 Dec 2025 16:49:12
Except Slot isn't Alex Ferguson, especially at this point in his tenure. Ferguson provided stability for United while Slot is providing chaos.

Agree1

09 Dec 2025 16:57:50
It’s a reminder, perhaps, that a huge part of how good a player looks is the system they’re playing in. Salah, Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson worked as an almost perfect three on Liverpool’s right. Alexander-Arnold could release Salah with his quick accurate passes, which forced opposing left-backs to stay deeper, lessening the defensive burden on Alexander-Arnold, who could drift into a playing-making role in midfield, while Henderson had the stamina and tactical intelligence to offer cover.

Last season Dominik Szoboszlai, while obviously a very different player than Henderson, was able to fulfill a similar role in terms of his energy and tracking.

Agree2

09 Dec 2025 17:36:19
Olired check the podcast out pretty good tbh. Scholes, Butt and Paddy McGuiness. Relaxed down to earth and good guests.

Agree1

09 Dec 2025 18:10:05
Why on earth would you listen to them Mancs talking about football.

Agree0

09 Dec 2025 19:00:43
I half like scholes, I think it’s time for a change on sly sports, get him and maybe fowler to take over from twit and tw*t.

09 Dec 2025 15:35:10
Where are the leaks coming from? We haven’t really had that since Rodgers. Used to be a tight ship under klopp the first we heard of us liking a player was when he was announced.

09 Dec 2025 16:16:04
Sure Scouse the whole place is a rubbish show at the minute and people are bitching to anyone that will listen mate. Sad but unfortunately true.

Agree2

09 Dec 2025 16:25:24
If a bloke on twitter decides to post whatever he thinks will get clicks that day is it really a leak?

Agree2

09 Dec 2025 17:22:00
No it’s more a number two 😳.

09 Dec 2025 14:45:29
I also want to say regarding Hughes. Just before the last window that man was getting so much hate on here. Then when we started to buy players he was the best thing since sliced bread.

Now things have gone tits up. It's his and Edwards fault.

Look at the facts. Our play has been crap for months. We won the league cos the miles were in the players legs from Klop. Now those miles seem to have been trained out of the team. You cannot start slow, then pick up the pace. It has to be there from the beginning. That's the fault of the coaching staff and Slot. Not Hughes Edwards.

But player should never speak out like Mo did. This is Liverpool not Madrid or Chelsea.

YNWA.

09 Dec 2025 17:06:06
So tell me this Chrisy, if Klopp was so amazing that he won the league without even being at the club why did he only win one title in the nine years he was actually at the club?

I love Klopp. He’s one of the best things to ever happen to our club but Slot won us the league last season not Klopp.

I also think it’s time for Slot to go but that doesn’t mean I can’t give him credit for what he achieved last season.

We need a reboot. Get Slot and Salah gone and start playing some football.

Agree3

09 Dec 2025 18:11:50
Sean
Because he was in a contest with a really good Man City team? Like it or not but the opportunity was there last season for Liverpool to capitalise on a slight demise by City and Liverpool did so handsomely. I expected Liverpool to at the very least compete again with Arsenal this season but Slot has taken a very good squad and Fd it up, big time.

I’ll say it again that Slot was very fortunate to inherit such a squad from Klopp, a team that came close the season before.

Agree1

09 Dec 2025 19:10:26
Klopp not only had the slog of going toe to toe with city in the prem he went toe to toe with RM in the champions league at the same time. Slot can’t even go toe to toe with with Sunderland for 1 game.

Agree1

09 Dec 2025 14:37:42
Why not sack slot and have mo as player/ manager! Can't please all of the people all of the time 😁.

09 Dec 2025 14:20:58
Ed01 -

How is Tyler Morton doing in France? Getting good reviews on YT but see he has been pinging passes from midfield like Alonso in the clips?

Also maybe we could have used him at right back to offset the passing range of TAA.

Anyone else seen him play at Lyon?

{Ed001's Note - I haven't had time to watch any Ligue 1 games this season sorry.}

09 Dec 2025 16:45:16
The last I checked a few months ago, he's killing it. Not sure what is like for him right now or of recent.

Agree1

09 Dec 2025 17:32:02
He has been very good, and there are already rumours of Palace wanting him to replace Wharton. Morton always looked like a pretty good player to me, wit perhaps a lack of physicality the main thing. But alas Slot didn't play him. I hate how he never really gives chances to any young players, as this was one thing Klopp did so amazingly.

Even when we were struggling in 2022-23, we still had Bajcetic to pin our hopes on. Nothing like a youth academy graduate doing well to please the crowd.

Agree1

09 Dec 2025 18:26:15
I've heard Tyler is lost in France.

Agree0

{Ed025's Note - yeah Rigsby...its a heartache mate.. :)

09 Dec 2025 13:47:23
What’s your thoughts on the following as potential candidates should Slot get the sack?

1. Xabi Alonso
2. Cesc Fabregas
3. Hansi Flick.

09 Dec 2025 15:28:50
1) Jurgen Klopp
2) Jurgen Norbert Klopp
3) Kloppo

In all seriousness, Alonso would be my choice and the only one I would sack the manager for at this point.

Agree5

09 Dec 2025 15:55:12
1-Alonso
1-Enrique
2-Iraola.

Agree1

09 Dec 2025 16:05:03
Flick is a decent shout but unlikely.

Agree2

09 Dec 2025 16:11:05
Enrique
Alonso

But I don't think Enrique is possible.

Agree2

09 Dec 2025 16:45:46
Why would Flick leave Barca?

Agree0

09 Dec 2025 16:51:08
1. Enrique
2. Iraola
3. Alonso

Probably near to impossible to get Enrique right now, I think we'll get Iraola.

Agree1

09 Dec 2025 17:25:04
This is the two options but Enrique sadly won’t leave PSG.

Agree0

09 Dec 2025 18:05:25
@OliRed because there is a divide between him and the board. Flick believes in discipline while the board have undermined him by indulging players to keep morale up. There was a Goal. com article from a few weeks ago that there might be a parting of ways at the end of the season.

Agree0

09 Dec 2025 18:32:01
Iraola for me but would love Enrique if he were to be available. I’d have Klopp back temporarily for rest of season.

Agree0

09 Dec 2025 13:36:35
Difficult times ahead for the club but we all need to stick together and go back to dealing with things in a respectful manner.

That goes for the management, the players and the supporters.

We have unfortunately all been turned from believers into doubters once again.

09 Dec 2025 13:23:58
It seems to all be making sense now.

Aside from the passive tactics and lack of press which need addressing in their own right, Salah's recent outburst shows us what's really going on.

I think Salah's timing was a bit poor (given the result), but equally good from his perspective as gets lots of attention.

My initial reaction was of horror that he could do this. But the more we are learning about how the club have been sniffing around his back trying to find a way to get rid and recoup the money, the more I see:

a) Why he did this and put his neck on the line to effect change (whether you agree with it or not)

b) Why, aside from tactics, the team just doesn't look at it. This must be unsettling for many and splitting the team to potentially see how teammates are treated. Potentially doesn't bode well for others in contract renewal discussions.

Just disappointed and actually largely with the club and Slot's behaviour. I don't like us airing our problems in public BUT we may look back on this whole situation and be partly grateful as it may increase the speed of some sort of change or issues within the team addressed. well we can only hope!

09 Dec 2025 16:51:28
@Jimjam, the thing is that people slate Salah for being selfish and only thinking about himself and not the club and it's fans. You can literally levy the same pops at the club as well for not caring about the club, the fans and the players for allowing this manager to completely destroy the standing of the club with his arrogance, stubbornness and poor tactics that make us look worse than we actually are.

Like you, Im happy everything is out in the open now and we can all see how the club did Mo dirty by trying to sell him behind his back which is NOT on, Im sorry.

At that point, the club has NO right to slate/ lecture Salah or anyone else for doing the same thing they have done. Now winners here. Just losers and the club and the fans are also the losers here.

Agree3

09 Dec 2025 17:06:34
Jimjam.

Do you think the Mo outburst was a. Accident then? Far from it! He timed it perfectly inorder to get the most traction. Him and I'm sure his agent. Deliberately timed that outburst. Unlike his timing with shots this last few weeks he got this spot on. The first addition Sunday papers were 20-25 mins from being "off stone" a term used to describe hold the back page. Some papers missed it completely and only just got it into the later second addition.

How do you know for sure he's being touted around to saudie clubs behind his back? I'm sure the truth is somewhere in the middle.

My own opinion is I think he cannot come back from this! The timing with Afcon and transfer window coming up means there will be very little time to resolve it.
Perhaps the club don't want to pay £400k each week to get the return Mo is giving?

He is a legend no doubt. But get real he also knows exactly what his comments will lead to. I love him. But he will have to leave.

This is Liverpool not Madrid or Chelsea.

Agree0

09 Dec 2025 17:41:13
When was the standing of this club completely destroyed by Arne Slot, OliRed?
We are champions of England. We are involved in the most prestigious club competition in the world tonight. We spent over £400m on players sought by the likes of Bayern Munich and Man City in the summer, including breaking the British transfer record and you think the standing of this club has been completely destroyed?
What a load of hysterical nonsense.

Agree2

09 Dec 2025 13:36:34
If we lose tonight, does Slot get the elbow? If so, will Salah be kept due to the new/interim manager?

09 Dec 2025 13:52:23
Doubt it.

Agree2

09 Dec 2025 13:58:23
Slots unsackable.

Agree2

09 Dec 2025 14:01:22
Barry, my guess is no, he won't be sacked. And there's a strong possibility we will lose.

Agree3

09 Dec 2025 14:06:54
I doubt it and even if he does I think Salah will leave regardless.

Agree2

09 Dec 2025 14:12:37
He should and He should.

Agree3

09 Dec 2025 14:30:25
Slot will be there come summer YNWA YNWA just needs a couple of years YNWA.

Agree1

09 Dec 2025 14:31:46
Salah getting the boot isn't Slot's decision. And so Slot leaving shouldn't bear weight on whether or not Salah go's, in theory. But it would make zero sense to let Slot and Salah go, if the idea that the club moving Mo on solely because of his comments against the manager is the grounds for the push. You can't get rid of a player for speaking out against a rubbish manager and then go sack the manager cause he is actually rubbish. Your'e punishing him for something you agree with. Make's no sense.

I think if they both go, it stands to support the rumours Salah was being flogged around without prior consent.

Agree3

09 Dec 2025 14:35:08
As Ed001 has said here Slot has the backing of the 2 Wise Men. So he's probably going nowhere. Brilliant username 👏.

Agree3

09 Dec 2025 14:40:00
I expect to lose heavily tonight, possibly a repeat of the 0-3 score from the mid-sixties fixture at Inter . Club announcement tomorrow lunchtime, interim manager for the Brighton game ( Rob Page? ), next official manager starts at Tottenham the following weekend .

Agree4

09 Dec 2025 15:10:38
I think Salah might have gotten Slot a few extra weeks. Think the club will look to move Salah first and then the manager.

Sad state of affairs I must say.

Agree3

09 Dec 2025 16:47:07
Mytton, I'll see you and raise you with : Inter don't win tonight. I generally KFA but I'm feeling it, trust me.

Agree0

09 Dec 2025 16:49:00
That's some set of crystal balls you got there Mytton. Hoping to be pretty rich after my upcoming visit to the Power of Paddy!

Agree2

09 Dec 2025 16:52:42
They will both go. Just a matter of time.

As for tonight, I don't see us getting a result. 'Hope Im wrong cos I don't want my team to lose, at the end of the day.

Agree0

09 Dec 2025 17:28:45
Think you might be right Dave which is a bollocks. Only interested in an interim if it’s Jurgen Norbert 👍.

Agree1

09 Dec 2025 18:14:20
I want us to win 🙏🙏.

Agree0

{Ed025's Note -i should think so Irish.. why would anyone want their side to lose?..

09 Dec 2025 18:39:05
Come on, Ed025.
If you don't like the manager, you want to lose so he gets sacked and replaced by another manager and you start to win again. If you stop winning then you want to lose so you can replace the manager again.

And keep on repeating.
Slot has shown that he is incapable of winning games. In fact, we have lost 'ever since' we beat Villa and Madrid. Even though we haven't lost any of our last three games 😂.

Agree0

{Ed025's Note - thanks for clearing that up Rigsby mate.. :)
