Is the rumour true that the Minteh deal is back on? I really hope so. He’s exactly what we need. Very strong and fast. Hope he gets well soon and we see him flying up the wing with the Liver Bird on his chest.
30 Aug 2026 15:53:02
Agreed - he is an excellent choice who
will
thrive under Andoni and bring the best out of our other forwards.
30 Aug 2026 15:55:12
Minteh RW, Dom RB. Our right side will go from soft to two powerful maraton runners.
30 Aug 2026 16:39:05
I really hope we get this done in time.
30 Aug 2026 16:48:18
I don't. Minteh is bang average.
30 Aug 2026 17:00:49
While Minteh's numbers aren't very productive, he just turned 22. He'll get better. I think he's a better option than Sarr who will turn 29 before the season is over.
30 Aug 2026 17:01:47
Oli, stop being a grumpy grandma. Have you even seen him play, or do you get your wisdom from computer games.
We've scoured the world, avoided the pitfalls of Diomande and his representatives, and settled on him as our future right winger. What's not to like?
30 Aug 2026 17:10:22
Had a season ticket at Brighton, and Minteh is well regarded there. A unit who gives 200 percent.
30 Aug 2026 13:52:16
Liverpool close to agreeing a fee for Yankuba Minteh, according to the journalist from Gabia who broke the news of our previous bids via Paul Joyce.
30 Aug 2026 15:01:48
One can't help but think the Haggling over Minter has been Marvellous. Knockout!
30 Aug 2026 15:09:42
I like the player, we need some muscles and strength.
30 Aug 2026 15:22:59
I wouldn't mind Minteh but I'm not an expert on players outside Liverpool.
It's just madness to me to buy Minteh when he is going to be back by October and regain match fitness by December or later, and sell Gakpo with the lack of depth.
30 Aug 2026 15:23:19
I just want to hear someone say Minteh in proper Scouse.
30 Aug 2026 15:53:13
Minteh, eh eh eh, calm down, calm down.
30 Aug 2026 16:44:35
Look forward to that on the live chat, Kimu. It's the original humour that draws us here each day.
30 Aug 2026 17:03:53
Me saying "Minteh" in Scouse = Mintehhh.
But me saying "Minteh with a can of Coke" in Scouse = mild provincialism and moderate throat-phlegm production.
30 Aug 2026 13:01:27
Proper merry go round, Minteh back on! So they say.
30 Aug 2026 12:49:23
I've just been told we're trying to hijack the Matias Soulé (Roma) deal. Expect a bid shortly.
Our strategy is laughable, but there we go. I'd be happy if it gets done for £60m.
30 Aug 2026 15:27:15
Don't Panic!!!!!
30 Aug 2026 15:35:17
I think he's a good player.
30 Aug 2026 15:54:06
The idea is to confuse the hell out of everyone and see who really wants to
join.
30 Aug 2026 16:28:19
Hughes using the transfer shotgun approach now I see!!!
30 Aug 2026 16:58:19
@clowner, ... Unless that's not 'our strategy' in which case you're perhaps just not looking at the possibility that we have a better strategy than the one you're making up.
30 Aug 2026 12:38:10
It's rather chaotic with work at the moment. So this will be my final update this window.
Expect lots of links, whispers, but nothing actual concrete in regards to RW. Prado, Leweling being the 2 latest linked, which won't happen. We are most likely going to see a bit of a panic buy like Sarr or someone totally left field on loan.
We have also been looking at CM options. Camara looks unlikely at the moment but could still happen; Kone is also being linked.
Alongside someone from Germany whose name escapes me.
If the opportunity arises a loan move for another forward could happen.
Gakpo will leave but only if we get another winger in.
Elliot and Chiesa are both being linked with a move away and I would be surprised if they are still here when the window closes.
30 Aug 2026 14:57:43
Thanks, TF. Your posts are much appreciated.
30 Aug 2026 15:06:52
Wouldn't mind if the German player was Stiller.
30 Aug 2026 15:10:48
Thanks, Gavin.
30 Aug 2026 15:12:14
Fingers crossed for Kone.
30 Aug 2026 15:26:56
Is the German player Chema Andres? Would be a great signing. Ball-winning midfielder who plays similar to Rodri, which is just what we need.
30 Aug 2026 15:31:18
We've already got a Kone in our midfield: the traffic cone that is Mac Allister! (Stand back and wait for applause)
30 Aug 2026 15:31:46
Thanks Fields.
The German-based CM could be Stiller, or Andres from Stuttgart?
Definitely think we need someone in there. Macca is an 8/10, Slob is a RM in a classic 442 - and it seems like Grav thinks defensive work is beneath him now. As good as he is, we can't rely on Trey for the whole season.
30 Aug 2026 15:36:30
Cheers, Fields, see you on Wednesday. 😉👍
30 Aug 2026 15:57:22
Stiller has the most physicality of Stephen hawking.
Chema could be a good punt.
30 Aug 2026 16:32:08
Thanks so much for posting, Fields. We don't need names, we're just so excited at the idea of a midfielder. Hope work calms down for you.
30 Aug 2026 11:35:22
Seeing a rumour online that Liverpool are showing interest in Jamie Leweling of Stuttgart, RW.
Roma have had a bid of 40 million rejected and that Liverpool, Inter and Everton all taking a look at him.
Source is Patric Berger?
30 Aug 2026 12:07:20
I don't like this part of the window where you start to get linked with players you've never heard of before.
30 Aug 2026 12:20:18
He really is not good enough, and at 25, he has probably hit his ceiling.
Would much rather Pardo in this game of mediocre talent roulette.
30 Aug 2026 12:25:47
He looked absolutely woeful for Germany at the World Cup.
30 Aug 2026 12:32:43
Not many people knew anything about Diomande at the start of the window, which seems like years ago.
30 Aug 2026 12:36:03
Our bench looked really weak yesterday, and that's the worry, when you look at other teams' squad depth.
30 Aug 2026 12:36:44
Leweling? He should bring balance to the squad.
30 Aug 2026 12:51:26
No thanks.
30 Aug 2026 12:58:37
West Derby, you're right, but when Madrid and PSG are courting the player, then he must be decent.
The players we are currently linked with are being courted by Villa, Newcastle and Roma.
30 Aug 2026 13:08:31
Apart from the fact Diomande had a huge breakout season for Red Bull and was wanted by all the top teams in Europe, WDW. I'd say plenty of people knew about Diomande.
Lewelling is a very limited footballer and at 25, he's not going to get any better.
30 Aug 2026 14:06:46
If true, defo not a panic buy this one...
30 Aug 2026 14:12:24
Victor, you do talk some crap, lad. I saw Leweling play vs Ivory Coast and he was terrible. It was only about 20-30 minutes off the bench, but he looked really unbalanced and technically average.
However, to say he's not going to get any better because he's 25 is utter nonsense. Pretty sure we signed Salah, Mane and Firmino all at a similar age. They all went up several levels!
30 Aug 2026 14:18:22
Viktor, you forgot to say "lightweight".
Lightweight is in every single one of your players' outing reports lol.
30 Aug 2026 14:36:22
@Jova, you're looking at the Christmas wrapping paper and not what's inside.
Madrid look for ready made stars rather than youngsters with potential.
PSG are better but aren't we in the process of taking one of their players?
30 Aug 2026 14:36:25
We should go balls out for Rayan. I don't care about the fee. I want the best possible option for us at RW to help us compete this season.
30 Aug 2026 14:36:52
Mk, both Mane and Salah were still a massive upgrade on what we had at the time. Even if they hadn’t progressed to the level they did, it was still a big upgrade.
I have only seen a bit of Leweling, but from what I have seen, I would be very surprised if he drastically improved and jumped up several levels like Mane, Salah and Bobby.
30 Aug 2026 14:49:44
I completely agree, WestYorkshire, I'm simply calling out the nonsense that a player has peaked by 25 years old.
30 Aug 2026 15:38:59
Are we "Lewerling" our standards? (Sorry)
This all feels a very chaotic.
Maybe these are long standing targets but I really hope there is a grand plan.
30 Aug 2026 11:05:27
Rumour has it Jamie Leweling is a possible target.
30 Aug 2026 12:27:12
Eugh.
Can imagine the cheesy headlines to come if that happens.
30 Aug 2026 12:35:49
LFC are masters of the dark arts in subterfuge. They bid for
the desired replacements of actual targets, and flex in various ways to
muddy the waters and show who
the top dog is.
Looking at profiles only,
Minteh looks
like a perfect fit, and I personally
can't see Sarr being a genuine target. People should wait until
Wednesday before whining. C U Next Tuesday M***'s.
30 Aug 2026 12:51:07
Had a very good season last year, but of his 5 years in the Bundesliga it's literally the only good one he's had.
30 Aug 2026 10:56:49
Morning Gents
I've been told Liverpool have accepted an offer of around £80m for Cody Gakpo.
Cheers.
30 Aug 2026 12:06:12
Thanks, Robbo, as always. Hope you have some incomings new for us soon.
30 Aug 2026 12:07:58
Wow.. probably gonna blow 90% of it on Sarr now.
30 Aug 2026 12:09:37
Hope that means we have another winger secured...
30 Aug 2026 12:13:11
Thanks, Robbo, good business. Presumably we have someone lined up ready to go.
30 Aug 2026 12:13:15
Cheers, Robbo.
Would be really good to get some info on what we're doing with the right wing and defensive midfield positions. Any info would be appreciated.
30 Aug 2026 12:14:56
Wta***. :(
30 Aug 2026 12:19:15
This is not a dig at you, Robbo.
What is going on at our club! Why are we selling a player that scores 10 plus goals a season to a rival team and buying crap to replace? It's madness to me. In the short time under Iraola, Gakpo looks like a different player.
I'll happily eat my words on Tuesday if we somehow sign a world class winger to replace Mo (not Barcola), but I just can't see anything but a Hughes disaster.
30 Aug 2026 12:33:50
Cheers, Robbo.
30 Aug 2026 12:34:15
Barcola first choice on the left, Rio back-up and thanks and best wishes, Cody.
30 Aug 2026 12:35:12
To be honest, the last couple of games, Gakpo has been one of our best players. Now we are going to strengthen an opponent.
30 Aug 2026 12:38:04
Replacing Gakpo with Minteh makes sense in every way. Minteh is a beast.
30 Aug 2026 12:39:55
I think most of us are forgetting what happened to Gakpo and his family over the summer?
Perhaps he and his partner want a change of scenery to try and move on and start fresh?
It may not just be football related.
30 Aug 2026 12:42:19
Nobody on here has the first clue, really. The club might know, but there are just too many voices putting forward too many names to know who the club really wants if they really are still actively looking at the moment.
30 Aug 2026 12:43:12
It's accepted subject to Liverpool getting in a replacement.
30 Aug 2026 12:45:20
Longthing, I think this is an AI decision.
He has mentioned he likes players who are a vertical threat ie pace merchants, and I don't think Gakpo fits the bill.
If we were able to get Diomande then that would have been perfect to have him and Barcola on the wings. Unfortunately it seems we didn't have a plan b for Diomande.
30 Aug 2026 12:50:15
Don't understand selling our best player to a rival so far, and replace with what? Won't be an upgrade, makes no sense, and help City just when they need it.
Extremely disappointing news if true. Hope it's wrong.
30 Aug 2026 13:04:32
I get Gakpo may want to leave for whatever reason he has, but I think it's very poor from the club. City get £85 for a squad player who never plays, we leave it till the last minute to find replacements, as I believe he must have let them know early about wanting to leave with all the noise about it.
Every player we go for now the price goes up for us, yet we seem to roll over when it comes to selling players. We should be wanting more for our most effective forward who's a starter.
This is the only area where I feel FSG have failed in for the time they've been at the club, and hope it's something the new consortium will improve on if or when they take controll. FSG, through not being football people, have allowed failures to long and too much responsibility in running the football side. Players contracts since Edwards left the first time has been a disgrace, how they've allowed themselves to be in a position to lose so much money in transfer fees because of the amount of players they've allowed to run their contracts down.
Never once have Liverpool capitalised on their success.
We have almost gone full circle to being back to where we was when Klopp took over, despite having better quality of players. The balance and depth of the squad is a lot worse than back then.
To even blame this summer on Ireola wanting to access the squad is a lame excuse when the transfers are supposed to be out of the managers role. Too indecisive on sacking Slott. First red flag on Slott was when winning the league his only interest was to party, when years gone by that would be the starting point to go again, and the fact the club allowed that to happen shows how incompetent Hughes and Edwards are.
30 Aug 2026 13:15:00
Unless Gakpo is pushing to get out (think he is, and hence the upturn in form) we should be keeping hold. He's arguably been our best player so far, but the key part is having some depth. Arsenal are in the position they are because they've just bought on top of what they already have, and now have the squad depth.
And to add to that, selling to a rival is crazy, it's good money for him, but I just don't get it.
I'm not his biggest fan, but feel we need these types of players in the squad, especially as he can play across the front 3 if needed.
Crazy.
30 Aug 2026 13:15:29
I agree, Wdw, although you seem to
check in every day.
30 Aug 2026 13:26:31
Cheers Robbo, I just hope we can have some decent incomings now.
30 Aug 2026 14:09:48
If Gakpo has been our best player over the last two games, we really are in trouble. Was brutal yesterday apart from the assist.
30 Aug 2026 14:43:49
Nail on the head Flo, we are in trouble !!!
Big one, good player, then let another go, oh my god, self destruction.
Wake me up from this nightmare.
30 Aug 2026 14:46:55
I'm more than happy to see Gakpo go myself.... Diaz was twice the team player as him... All out for himself. City will regret it eventually. Only issue is not having a replacement in for rw... Barcola is a massive upgrade on Gakpo.
30 Aug 2026 15:39:55
Gakpo has been fantastic last 3 games.
He doesn't play like he wants to go elsewhere.
Something behind the scenes we are not aware of.
30 Aug 2026 15:41:35
There is lots of cover on the LW. The concern is lack of cover for Isak if Gakpo and Chiesa both leave.
30 Aug 2026 17:14:58
If we are selling Gakpo and getting Sarr or Minteh for that same price, Hughes has gone nuts.
30 Aug 2026 10:04:09
Rumours that Leweling from Stuttgart is an option.
Very quick and plays on the right, only really one season performing at a high level though.
30 Aug 2026 11:25:57
Digging in the dregs.
30 Aug 2026 11:33:08
Are you ever happy, Viktor 😂?
30 Aug 2026 11:33:47
We were linked in the winter, I think. Roma have had a loan with option to buy for £40m rejected. It does seem like we only want to spend £60m on that position as that's what we have offered for Minteh and a second bid for Sarr. He's 24, done well in the Bundesliga with 42 goal contributions in 121 games.
30 Aug 2026 11:34:30
It seems like the list went.
Diomande. Mbaye. Minteh. Sarr. Rio. Gakpo. Panic. 😂
I think Munoz looks decent on the right. I'd be happy playing him there til January. Get rid of Hughes and then the new guy can get someone in to replace Salah.
Meanwhile, we get a defensive midfielder and a right back in the last few days.
I think most fans could stomach that quite easily. We know we're not in a title race, and Europe doesn't really kick off until February properly, does it. (That league phase is a farce.)
Common sense says this is just a transitional season, new ownership will change everything anyway.
30 Aug 2026 11:42:23
Of course he is. But it was so long ago he can't remember.
30 Aug 2026 11:46:55
Brommers. Viktor has standards fitting to our club, very much unlike our owners.
30 Aug 2026 12:01:18
If Gakpo really wants to leave... Does anyone know why?
I always thought he was happy at Liverpool, especially after signing a more lucrative contract.
30 Aug 2026 12:02:08
God, you are a miserable man Viktor.
30 Aug 2026 12:08:39
When you say our owners, Match, do you mean those that spent over 400 million last summer and have built us half a ground and a new training complex?
30 Aug 2026 12:10:39
I would rather we returned to trying and develop players with talent than go for 29 year olds who are probably at their peak. I mean, ideally, I'd keep Gakpo, buy a Lewelling type player, then if we must move on Gakpo, do so after our 3 new wingers have settled in.
30 Aug 2026 12:23:09
Probably because 90pct of fans have wanted him out, calling him all sorts for the last year.
30 Aug 2026 12:23:42
Berating people on the internet over things you don't understand is fitting standards?
Why weren't the experts on here ever considered for the top jobs in football? These prem clubs can't get anything right, while all the oracles are being wasted slinging dirt on here.
What do we want?
Instant gratification!
When do we want it?
Now!
30 Aug 2026 12:24:32
Doesn't want to be a squad player and probably realises City have a better chance of winning trophies in the short term.
30 Aug 2026 12:24:52
Liver_la, I think it's to do with our relentless pursuit of Barcola. Gakpo has moments of brilliance, but they're too few and far between. He also isn't a conventional winger and a bit of a 1 trick pony. Saying that to sell him to City is scandalous and for just £80m in today's market too!
30 Aug 2026 12:25:01
Liver_la, it sounds like it's because he's not first choice anymore with Barcola coming in. He won't be first choice at City either though, so it's a bit weird.
30 Aug 2026 12:44:22
Let Dom play rb, as that's the only way he fits in this system, and get a left back.
30 Aug 2026 12:44:40
If we sign a RB before the window closes, the next time I am back home from Oz, I will show my ar$e in Burton's window.
30 Aug 2026 12:59:07
80 mil is just too low, anyway, especially to City, would they sell to us at this kind of price? Of course not.
Poor management and standards.
Would Madrid sell to Barcelona?
You just don't sell to a competitor under any circumstances.
30 Aug 2026 14:14:44
Unless it's a player you are happy to sell them, DarrenA, because you have bought a better player to take his place, and you also have a young backup in the position who will need minutes to improve.
30 Aug 2026 12:57:52
Big hairy ape, firstly he's 25, secondly "done well" is doing a lot of heavy lifting as his end product is poor. Brendan Rodgers era signing if ever I saw one.
30 Aug 2026 14:50:57
Can't be helping a competitor though, Flo, his form has been good the last few games and now we're letting him go, feels like this will be a big regret to me, hope not but if City want him you have to ask yourself why, I think it's going to be a huge mistake but that's just my own view and I hope I'm wrong, I really do as seeing him in blue tearing it up this year whilst we're struggling would be painful.
30 Aug 2026 15:18:33
We're not helping them. Trust me.
30 Aug 2026 15:41:05
I hope Gakpo stays and we don't get a replacement.
If so I'm buying a Gakpo top to show how high I rate him.
