To attest to Akira, my understanding also is that Slots position is not in question. The unrest off the pitch is predominantly a handful of players that aren’t particularly happy with their role in the squad currently, but that’s going to happen anywhere. The club are still happy to offer Slot an extension.
However, playing the HIGHLY hypothetical game of the club having no choice but to move Slot on - if it ever got that bad - I imagine the first choice would be Bournemouths Iraola.
The Spaniard has a great relationship with Richard Hughes.

20 Oct 2025 09:47:22
Which players would that be? Most the regulars from last season are still starting and surely the new ones would expect to have a transition period bedding in unless we bought some bad apples?
Tbh I think we have a big problem at CF and I can see Ekitike not being happy playing second fiddle to Isak. Also looked levels above Isak when he came on yesterday so deserves to start.
17
20 Oct 2025 10:15:45
Ekitike should be starting before isak every game for me.
He was in great form before his shirt mistake, I haven't seen anything from Isak yet that says he should be starting.
21
20 Oct 2025 10:21:46
Chiesa came on again and was our best player by a mile. Created a goal, put himself about.
He should be first name on the team sheet as it stands.
27
20 Oct 2025 10:27:10
I couldn’t agree more personally. Slot has my full backing and will continue to do so, but I cannot understand for the life of me why Chiesa is not getting starts.
10
20 Oct 2025 10:28:58
Its not the players you think. Think of the superstars. Slot doesn't want to start either but has no choice due to lack of options.
5
20 Oct 2025 10:39:05
If Salah can’t be dropped because of lack of options, then that’s ridiculous. Frimpong did more in 5 minutes yesterday than Mo has done in the last 5 games.

Hi both Akira and Victor thanks for the info. I know I’m clutching but have you heard the klopp interview with Steven barlett diary of a ceo where he mentions that he could come back and coach pool. I know I’m clutching here but if slot doesn’t make it to the end of the season or we look to replace him in the summer, any chance of klopp 2.0? I might be wrong but klopp with these players could be something incredible.

Salah should have been given a hero’s send off after winning the league. Virg is still ok but on the decline.
Tbh what’s not working is having 3 goal scoring forwards in gakpo, Isak and Salah. No creativity and no workrate. All just want to score and they aren’t even finishing the chances they get.
Time for slot to show his metal - play your new players and build a team. Even if we don’t win the league no problem but we need to see an identity and evolution to set us up for next year.
10
20 Oct 2025 12:47:25
What a load of tosh we don't have the options, the system is the problem and trying to get the new guys to play the way we did last season and not to their strengths instead, Kerkez is an awful inverted fullback, not his strength at all, Isak, Ekiteke and Wirtz have to play up top, Wirtz behind the 2 of them, Grav, Macca an Szob behind them and the fullback play as they should, providing the width.
15
20 Oct 2025 12:59:24
If a player is playing that badly then there are always options.

20 Oct 2025 14:42:38
Salah is a weird one. It feels like Klopp’s team and indeed last season we relied on him completely.
I actually think we did. His form was a closely correlated with our results. Luckily we had the best of Mane who would often step up when Salah was off colour.
So basically I wonder if our success over the Klopp era + 1 was largely down to Salah being so consistently brilliant.
Last season Salah had a chip on his shoulder (no new contract) and carried this team. When his form dropped off, so did ours to a large extent.
Whenever you have to move on from a player who is so pivotal, for so many years, it’s going to be very difficult. Same when Gerrard left, same to a much lesser extent when Suarez left.
I think we have recruited well this season but there are still holes. Isak, Wirtz and Ekitike are excellent signings, but the team is still trying to find its new identity.
I think Salah might go in January.
6
20 Oct 2025 16:22:36
For me the current state of the team is down to tactics and not players being out of form necessarily. Yes Salah is well off it. I agree w AAgenda that the system is the problem.
Isak getting some stick but he's not getting a look in. We have to play to our strengths and for me that's Wirtz behind Ekitike and Isak and we play our mid 3 behind. Like to see the full backs get up the pitch. I don't recall seeing Bradley at the byline this season. Yesterday he passed to Mo then took about 5 steps backwards to get back "into position. " Last season he would have gone beyond Mo dragging the opponent out of position and allowing Mo to move inside. Same with Gakpo on the left, just glued to the touchline. Gakpo seems undroppable and although he's not a bad player he's not as good as other options for me and he's a limited player. But he seems to be a Slot favourite which is a head scratcher for me. I think Gakpo and Mo are killing us at the minute.
We have width right now but it's static. We need to add speed and some depth behind the width. For me that's a 4-3-1-2 formation but it means we play a lot more like a Klopp team than a Slot one.
Is the manager willing to change? Not a proponent for making a change but if he can't make this squad tick I support the club first.
7
20 Oct 2025 21:32:47
What would the reason be behind not wanting to start Virgil and Salah, after last season? Salah albeit not in great form but was one of the best in the world last season, Virgil seen by many as the best cb in the world, again had a poor game at the weekend, so why would the manager decide he doesn’t want to play either is a very worrying sign, especially now his system is getting us found out regularly.
1
20 Oct 2025 23:15:33
Ron i think Mo will find some form eventually but to get the best out of Wirtz Ekitike Isak something needs to give, so for me we drop Mo and change formation.
We've done such a good job with recruitment over the years without spending as much as others. We finally drop bank this summer and we were all eagerly anticipating seeing these new players banging in 3-4 goals a game. I was imagining the days of Keegan Toshack, Dalglish Rush, Beardsley Barnes Aldridge Rush, Gerrard Torres, Bobby Mo Sadio.
But what we're now seeing on the pitch doesn't jive with the players that have come in. I honestly don't see a pattern or set up that I can look at and say oh that's how Slot wants to play. I just don't get it.
As I posted a day or so ago, I think we should have signed a LCB who can play LB, a CB and a DM and one of Isak/ Ekitike. Right now Ekitike looks the more capable player. But, would the set up be changed to suit those players? I don't know. I honestly don't know what Slot is trying to achieve. Last season we would have drooled at the thought of one of Isak/ Ekitke leading the line. So why is it not working now?
Clearly Slot is a much more capable coach than any of us on here, yet the mistakes he's making seem so glaringly obvious to us all, and to make it worse, it's the same thing game after game. It might be getting worse in fact.
Slot spends a lot of time talking up the opposition and what we need to do to fix our defensive issues, but for the life of me I can't see what he's doing to make them worry about US. Neville said yesterday on paper he was worried for United playing us at Anfield. Every team that plays us should be worried about the attacking power that we now have. But Slot has 2-3 of our best attacking and/ or in-form players on the bench because in his eyes they are not working for a myriad of reasons. He convinced Wirtz to come to us over Bayern apparently; what did he say would be his role? Has he kept his word to Wirtz? I can't imagine what we're seeing on the pitch would have been a successful sales pitch, no pun intended.
So he goes tried and tested yesterday and still came up empty handed. Why? Well again I think we're not asking questions of these supposed low blocks yet they are running us ragged in defense game after game. It's not being addressed. I think a coach like Rafa would come in and first set us up to not concede then worry about the other end. Slot doesn't seem to know how to fix either.
We were running united ragged yest with Wirtz Hugo Chiesa on the pitch. I don't recall having to do much defending in those 20 minutes. Again, let the opposition worry about what we're going to throw at them.
Slot has clear problems of his own making imo. Yesterday i posted he was going tried and tested from last season bar Kerkez Isak and the goalie.
It failed not because of the players but how he's telling them to play. Kerkez is not a playmaker from LCB and Bradley isn't affecting anything just passing to Mo and then looking over his left shoulder to make sure he's in the right position alongside Konate.
Slot seems to have gone from flexible last season to inflexible this season and at the end yesterday I'd call it desperate. Not what we want from our head coach.
Big week for the club bigger week for Slot. Let's see if he's capable and in charge. I def have my doubts.

I assure you nothing is wrong off the pitch.
Coach has favoured a few players and there are couple of moaners and this is nothing new.
It is just that board is a bit bewildered as we have same group of core players and these performances are just not acceptable.
But the players have to adapt quicker.
I have to say in hindsight infact to his credit arne slot would have been right as he advised bidding farewell to vvd and salah last year when asked about his opinion but club decided to negotiate mega contracts. And hence the moaning.
Its almost impossible for the coach to put vvd and salah on the bench in fact he does not even have an option in players to replace either.
But if results continue board will have to accept the fact and stop the moaning and let slot decide on his first team.
11
{Ed078's Note - cheers Akira
4
20 Oct 2025 09:16:10
I would say that regardless of the contract and money nobody has a Devine right to be an automatic choice. VVD is simply because there are no alternatives in the squad.
Salah on the other hand, we’ve seen nothing at all from him this season whereas Chiesa has done well most times he’s been on the pitch. Salah might be the best paid player in the squad but he’s been consistently among the worst players and yet normally he’s never replaced or dropped.
For good of the team he needs to have some time on the bench, to show the squad that the team will be picked on performance not reputation. Yesterday again just about all our attacking play came down the left until Frimpong came on.
9
20 Oct 2025 09:25:07
Well he can drop Salah. Just purely in terms of the other players he has available. Fede could play. Frimpong could play. Could go with 2 up top on Szoboszlai right. Wirtz could even nominally play on the right.
Van Dijk is harder to drop since we only have Gomez and Konate. Although I think his form is less of a problem than Salah's.
6
20 Oct 2025 10:26:17
I am sorry but you as a coach cannot just drop a 400k a week star players like salah and vvd just because of 5-6 bad games
Easy for fans to say but say but coach will obviously be questioned about why salah macca suddenly don't fit his system.
And hence the moaning. It is certain that slot is favouring some players and trying to bed them in positions that just are not right for them just adding to confusion
He has tried stuff . it has not worked but so much time left in the season that coach can afford a few mistakes. It is always good to slip early in the season as opposed to late in the season.
I think fundamentally we understand what he is trying to do and its pretty clear what he wants to do he cannot use some players he likes - so he either changes style or changes players and we will see the answers soon enough.
6
20 Oct 2025 10:43:14
He could drop Salah and start Chiesa on the right, he can that spot and has done so in Italy if I'm not mistaken?
0
20 Oct 2025 10:58:11
You can drop a player, his salary doesn’t matter, a pile of money doesn’t kick a ball. if he’s not doing it on the pitch he shouldn’t be on it.
Nobody is bigger than the club.
11
20 Oct 2025 11:20:22
I disagree there Akira. I'm not talking about bombing Salah out entirely and making him train with the reserves. A strong enough manager (and I believe Slot is one) could drop him for a couple of games.
4
20 Oct 2025 12:12:25
Salah can and absolutely should be dropped. The whole point of a squad is for the supposedly lesser squad options to put pressure on the supposedly superior starters to maintain their levels or lose their starting place.
Chiesa has more than outperformed Salah this far this year with far less playing time to do so, and yet isn't getting a proper chance, that's not opinion, that's objective. Less objectively, Ekitike can feel aggrieved at not starting and given Macca and Konate's form Jones and Gomez have reasonable cause to feel aggrieved at not playing more often.
If I was in any of those players shoes, I'd be complaining as well.
Virg gets a pass due to lack of alternative options and despite his decline still being easily our best defender, worrying as that is.
4
20 Oct 2025 12:14:44
Can't blame Slot for his selections so far this season as he balances players who need the game time to get up to speed (Macca, Isak) and beds in new players (Kerkez, Wirtz, Ekitike, Frimpong) . But he's run out of time from a results perspective after the Utd game and it is now crunch time. He needs to play the players in form or more to the point stop playing those players out of form. Also, hopefully, Alisson is back as he saves their first goal.
0
{Ed001's Note - you can blame him, because he has dumped players in form for players who need fitness.}
15
20 Oct 2025 12:20:54
“Easy for fans to say but say but coach will obviously be questioned about why salah macca suddenly don't fit his system. ”
Sorry but absolute load of tosh that Akira.
This isn’t about fitting a system it’s about taking players out of the team who simply aren’t at the level we need right now.
As Jerry said, no player is above getting dropped if their performances don’t merit them staying in the team.
8
20 Oct 2025 12:21:39
So many changes to assimilate in a short space of time, let's see what Arne is made of cause this is his most difficult challenge to date.
Not sure why Arne would not want to keep VVD or Salah after how both were top drawer last season.
Salah without Trent, Nunez and Diogo seems lost, plus he has 2 big tournaments coming up - could this be the end of the kings reign?
1
20 Oct 2025 13:44:05
We have a lot of attacking talent who all know where the net is.
Salah had a rapport with players who for different reasons ate no longer at the club. These players have seen Nunez shipped out and are probably very aware they need to score to stay at the club.
Salah has been the main focal point for us for so long and now these young players are trying to make a name for themselves.
I know people are saying how Salah has been losing possession of the ball but the ball also seems to go more to gakpo on the left rather than Mo.
It has been a crap few weeks but when this team settles it will get back to winning ways. The premier league has just got tougher due to the so called smaller teams having money to spend on better players and coaches.
Nobody plays their way through a bad patch being benched. Mo didn't turn into a poor player overnight. We want to win every match but sometimes you have to go through the wringer until better days come along.
1
20 Oct 2025 13:54:12
Maybe one more loss and you will see what everyone is asking for.
Oh and as for chiesa LFC spent a whole summer finding a club for him and nothing worked. He will not suddenly become the favourite in any managers book despite being decisively better than all options. the plan is still to sell him.
0
20 Oct 2025 13:15:27
Surely that's a Catch 22 to a degree though Ed? Isak is not going to get match fit sitting on the bench.
0
{Ed001's Note - bringing him on in matches would surely do the job to get him close enough.}
7
20 Oct 2025 13:56:22
To be honest i have noticed a fall off on both VVD and MO
Both levels are way below what we expect of them . Look at the first goal how slow VVD was to get back! The second goal why did he not pick maguire we all know he is the danger man at corners?
MO could not beat an egg at the moment and the miss in second half would of put my house on him to score. Dalot is a poor full back he had MO in his pocket! Konate had half decent game for a change .
Take Isak out of the team and give him a six week preseason we have hugo to cover for him.
Fredie causes problems everygame he plays and he can play on the right in place of MO . I also these stupid international breaks are killing the performances of all the teams in premier league after every break the teams look exausted. YNWA.
0
20 Oct 2025 14:42:43
Frimgpong was on the pitch less than half hour he put in more crosses than MO who had 80 odd minutes all he did was missed a sitter. I think that clears the coach if he dropped MO .
The system we are playing is like Arsenal under Wenger get the ball to edge of the opposition penalty area then run out of ideas Van bronkhuirst played under this system when he was at Arsenal and i maybe wrong but tried to play this way at Rangers and was sacked not saying he has anything to do with our system
but the system has changed to last season. YNWA.
1
20 Oct 2025 21:19:52
If the LFC board are picking the team, then we really are in trouble.
2
20 Oct 2025 22:54:28
So, is the Board interfering with managerial decisions? I get the obvious pressure given the contracts and incoming, but it sounds like there is a mandate that he has to use those players. At least that's how I am interpreting this. I certainly could be co. pmetely wrong.
0
20 Oct 2025 23:28:08
I think Mo would benefit from time on the bench. Half decent left backs are getting the better of him. Frimpong looks dangerous and gets balls in the box. When we bought Frimpong German pundits said he is not an orthodox RB, more a WB. Salah I'm sure will be away for a couple months soon anyway in African cup. Frimpongs time to shine.

19 Oct 2025 20:07:19
Here Carra what exactly are the problems off the pitch?
5
19 Oct 2025 20:43:48
Sounds ominous, Barry mate. I am intrigued to know what is going on. ED01 too is surprisingly quiet today.
0
19 Oct 2025 21:36:58
It’s fake news. Stories are coming out because we can’t win football matches. Win 10 in a row and nothing will be said.
10
19 Oct 2025 21:41:45
Well something is off because players of that quality don’t just turn crap over night! There is so much wrong with us now it very hard to see how it can be fixed quickly. All we keep hearing is the preseason wasn’t good for few players. But Salah had one and he is playing at 10%. The bloke can’t kick a ball, his touch is nonexistent and looks like he can’t be arsed in a derby against Man U. In fact there was a lot of players that looked like that today. Not one yellow card for us today! When is the last time we lost at home to them and didn’t lay a finger on them.
10
19 Oct 2025 21:46:07
I wonder if it’s to do with the number of holidays he takes. You’d think this past international break was a chance to figure out some of the problems but instead he was off in Dubai for a holiday.
5
19 Oct 2025 21:49:00
Longthing re salah, have you noticed that we no longer play through salah as our main attacking outlet. He is a system player imo and now slot has decided to change things up he is suffering as well as the team. I’m actually unsure what the answer is, but I wonder if we could ever start isak and ekitie up front together maybe with a change of formation? Keep szobo rb frimpong rw and wirtz behind.
1
19 Oct 2025 21:55:47
Not entirely convinced there is any real history Mark to say Carra would post fake news for the sake of it.
6
19 Oct 2025 22:06:36
Akira has politely shed light on the situation - view match posts.
2
19 Oct 2025 22:19:11
It’s about winning and that’s it. Your all getting totally carried away, support the team and wind your necks in.
2
19 Oct 2025 23:08:57
Could it be caused by the change of coach? Heitinga left, then Bronckhorst came in.
I sound like trying to put the blame on him, but Im not. I was just wondering, and I started to feel worried now.
2
19 Oct 2025 23:20:02
mark, Carra's history has proven that he is a reliable source of information. He is giving us snap shots from that particular point in time. Things can always change, but to suggest he is giving us fake news is not supported by his track record.
6
19 Oct 2025 23:34:15
You believe what you want Stone. Carra got some things right and some things wrong. He’s made a very sweeping statement with nothing whatsoever to back it up with. Liverpool will win a major trophy this year. Stop listening to rubbish and support the team. Your part of the solution or part of the problem.
1
20 Oct 2025 05:50:20
So we aren't allowed to vent and be utterly disappointed and frustrated at what's been happening lately?
It's all fine to say we need to support the team and wind our necks in, but come on
They've been average and have been for quite some time!
Seeing them go from a premier league winning team not that long ago, to what we are seeing now is night and day
You can't paper over it. It's not been anywhere near good enough
Say what you want, but as lifelong fans, yes we are entitled to have views on the latest performances
What we have been seeing since pretty much February, is not good enough and not even close
It's only 4 games. cmon, it's not just about the last 4 games is it. It's the effort, tactics, team selection. ITS NOT WORKING!
7
20 Oct 2025 07:40:53
“You’re part of the solution or part of the problem. ”
I can safely say the only people relevant to the solution almost certainly aren’t on this site.

20 Oct 2025 19:12:02
Wassa it's a rumours site as well as a gossip rant vent praise moan etc site.

19 Oct 2025 19:32:54
The problems off the pitch are now transcending on the pitch.
A manager change is NOT out the question, however there will be no knee jerk reaction.
I said to not be concerned but my stance on that has altered.
Personally, I don't think Slot gets past this season as Liverpool head coach
Ta.

19 Oct 2025 19:42:01
What are the problems off the pitch?
2
19 Oct 2025 19:44:49
Hi Carra thanks for your info, are we looking at naglesman as a potential replacement?
0
19 Oct 2025 19:48:27
Depressing but believable
Last year Slots questionable decisions worked out in the long run. This year, it looks the opposite. He looks miles out of his depth.
The team formation/ strategy isn't working at all.
Difficult as I know we as a club don't take reactionary measures, but right now I have little faith Slot will even accept/ own the issues. His post game interview was nonsense.
Who is even available to replace. I would expect a long season till summer.
9
19 Oct 2025 19:48:53
Carra, what are the problems off the pitch? How have things escalated to this stage?
3
19 Oct 2025 19:49:44
The Van Bronkhurst gamble has become a huge mistake.
We either change the manager and his backroom staff.
Or
They change the formation and way we play to suit the players. I see no inbetween. This boring Failing system is horrible to watch and we’re in huge decline because of it.
Something needs to change immediately, 4 losses in a row and can’t get up for a home game against United? Worrying is an understatement.
17
19 Oct 2025 19:52:29
Hello carra thanks for your info as always. Can u elaborate as regards what the problems off the field are?
2
19 Oct 2025 19:58:02
Sorry Carra, just to follow up, what off the pitch problems do you refer to? Wasn’t aware there were any.
Although Slot appears clueless right now. No balance or control in team, shape all over the place and going for the win at the cost of team discipline far too early. Last 3 losses in the prem could easily have been 3 draws but just throwing the kitchen sink and hoping for the best.
Massive mistake getting rid of Lucho.
3
19 Oct 2025 19:58:37
What makes you say that Carra?
What’s happened? We just won the league!
1
19 Oct 2025 20:07:12
That’s a big statement Carra, LFC don’t usually do knee jerk reactions, however not often have we just won league, shelled out £400m and look worse and so poor, not since Hodgsons days and these players are far superior to that team and that they are looking ATM.
Let’s be honest we’ve not looked great since Christmas and the players we have brought it ARE quality and it’s the managers job to knit it together and make tough decisions- starting with dropping Salah! Makes you wonder how influential Heitinga was to our success last year.
Areola would be my choice if a change were to happen he’s obviously worked wonders at Bournemouth having been brought in by Hughes.
5
19 Oct 2025 20:07:55
What utter nonsense. Total garbage. Liverpool still win the PL and or the CL this year. We had more than enough chances to win 2 games today.
7
19 Oct 2025 20:13:12
Jamie Car Rager,
You can only earn PL points on the pitch not off it?
The current losing results can only be resolved on the field of play.
"OFF THE PITCH FC" have never won a game of football and never will!
0
19 Oct 2025 20:16:05
Not a chance Mark…. We look totally clueless.
12
19 Oct 2025 20:25:23
Hopefully the off the pitch problems aren’t related to the leadership structure. Arne can’t really complain about the players brought in, or did he want to continue with pragmatic football and was given very attacking players which he and his staff don’t know how to use.
Coaching wise who would we go for if there were doubts about Arne . Iraola and Glasner are flavour of the month domestically at the moment but it would be a big risk with either. If there’s a doubt around Arnes future of the two Iraola would probably suit us best.
While it’s been a really disappointing month it feels too soon to be doubting Arne . If it’s still a mess at the end of November it might get interesting even though there’s no obvious replacement.

19 Oct 2025 20:28:01
Zidane. Someone who’ll bring ‘vibes’ and let the saban their natural game. We bough players who love to be on the front foot and press, yet we’re toying with the ball at the back.
Klopp would have killed for these signings.
8
19 Oct 2025 20:32:46
It’s October get a bloody grip.
5
19 Oct 2025 20:39:11
Sailor - Zidane Successful at Madrid what possible reason could we say he’d be a success anywhere else?
1
19 Oct 2025 20:42:45
Markp what have you seen this season to make you think we are title contenders.
We're on a 4 game loss streak.
8
19 Oct 2025 20:44:17
Slot is having a nightmare but give home some time. It’s not his fault that the players can’t kick or head a ball straight. That miss from Gakpo was unbelievable.
6
19 Oct 2025 20:52:53
What problems off the pitch are you talking about Carra? just curious.
0
19 Oct 2025 21:17:02
We can score one more, but that's hardly the only problem. If you think its just about the ball in the net and not our midfield, fullbacks, exposed CB's, and wasteful forwards then.
We might have drawn today in a better world, but how does that bemoan the performances.
3
19 Oct 2025 21:39:55
Oooof was not expecting to read that, Carra.
To look like a team of strangers who didn’t match United’s desire is extremely alarming.
3
19 Oct 2025 21:45:39
I still feel our problems will be there whoever is the head coach.
Salah has got his contract and seems to have dropped his effort and concentration. He looks disinterested - which is very unlike him. I’d ship him in Jan.
Losing Becker is a huge blow to confidence.
Obviously Van Dijk is ageing. It’ll happen sooner or later. Konate is off to Madrid and mentally is already there.
Kerkez is still settling in, he’s a young man as is Bradley. Frimpong is new, settling in.
MacA missed a lot of pre-season.
Szobo has been our best player.
Gakpo has been his usual inconsistent self.
Ekitike has been brilliant
Isak looks lost, I guess going on strike for weeks really does affect your fitness and form?
Wirtz is a head scratcher. He’s a class player but he’s not on the same page as a lot of his teammates.

Markp mate the set up, the tactics the way they train is all on Slot and his coaches. Gakpo missing a header is not the issue. For me he has 2 games to start to put this right. A loss in The CL and not winning next week should be the end of it. The team is in a free fall Slot seems incapable or at least not willing to do anything different to stop it. They need to run harder, close down quicker and have pace and energy in the team, not this horrendous slow sideways passing that goes no where . This is on Slot. He fixes it by changing or he needs to go. We are out of the title race by next Saturday otherwise.

The club may not be knee jerk but judging by this thread most of the fans are! Jeez.

Kim your what’s wrong with the world total over reaction. A major player had his live taken. Pre season was all over the place. The players are playing catch up and are not that far off. We could/ should have scored 4 or 5 today. We are a couple of weeks away from clicking and by December we will be the best team in Europe. Get a grip.

The atmosphere was v. poor today and against Utd of all teams.

We've been poor since the Spurs game last season - Slot will surely be given the season, unless this identity crisis continues on for too long.

Thats more frustration than information speaking mate.
Things are bad but we are expecting to improve, that said it is also true this season won't be a free pass for slot.

Slot's mistake is thinking he had the league sussed.
The first half of last season was based on keeping it tight, and relying on the forwards to score and win the game. Lots of tight wins . he should have known there are no easy games in the PL . every team has high fitness and athleticism and works on closing you down and defending.
The 2nd half of the season we pulled through in tight games . when sides formed lower defensive blocks we struggled - hence buying creative players. The problem is the pendulum has gone too far in the other direction. It's foolish to think you can buy a load of players and just tear teams apart. Klopp style basketball without peak-time Mo Bobby and Sadio.
Defensive stability is lost, midfield getting over-ran, huge gaps from full-backs being too high at times. Players careless with the ball.
Chiesa, Wirtz, Ekitike need to get pitch time.

Thanks for the info Carra - and for what it’s worth, i think you’ll be proven right if the current, failing tactics are persisted with.
I noticed a shift in tone from the local journalists after yesterday’s game. That’s not usually a good sign.

I do agree with Mark. It is only October and we did have a brave few chances, United also to be fair. We also have a very iffy defence and midfield (with the exception of Szobo) .
It’s far from over tho, this much is true. We just need to get our sh#t together.

Ed001
Hope you are well mate.
What do you think the end game will be with Guehi? This lad is no doubt a class football player IMHO and an upgrade overall. My opinion is not to go in with a low ball offer 15m as has been talked about. Unless there are cast iron agreements that he will come to us? I'm concerned holding palace to ransom could mean a free for all next summer, and we may miss out again. £30 m fist of January secure the player. YNWA.
1
{Ed001's Note - I expect him to join us, the money is not the issue, it is Glasner refusing to accept any replacements that have been lined up. I expect it will probably be the summer now though, as I don't think Palace will let him leave in January in order to keep Glasner sweet.}

Depends on whether Glasner would stay until January, Ed. If Utd decides that they have had enough of Amorim, I can definitely see Glasner throwing his hat into the ring and jumping ship to them, leaving CP in the lurch.
2
{Ed001's Note - that is true, Glasner is not keen on a new contract.}

19 Oct 2025 14:48:31
30m is more than we were willing to pay for him in the summer, surely you're not suggesting we pay more for a player with 6 months less on his contract simply because we are desperate to bring him in.

19 Oct 2025 17:35:09
I thought it was 35m. Whatever it was is not my point. I'm concerned we miss out altogether. It's half time in Man United game as I write this. The gaps, the hesitation, the fact that our new full back can't take a throw in is my concern. We don't look right at all. If we let him go to another club because we want to screw them for a few quid it will be our loss in the end.
YNWA.

Who would take Glasner if Slot can't sort out the mess and the board decide to make a change. Not saying Slot should or needs to go just a hypothetical question.
2
19 Oct 2025 19:11:16
No Charlie. His system is for a certain level of team. Not one that looks to dominate games. Plus he has an awful personality.

19 Oct 2025 19:35:58
Ironic for all the players Slot brought in the one we messed around on seems to be the one that would have made a difference and those that arrived only 1 has produced results at this rate Glasners name will be on our list pretty soon too.

I mean even with Guehi I don't think it changes much
the whole team is out of shape and form. Guehi might help stabilise a bit, but our CB's are constantly exposed by fullbacks, so its probably no big difference if we got him.
If i was guehi i'd be waiting before committing to this iteration of liverpool.

A solid right back would make a world of difference to us, because Mo offers nothing defensively so whoever plays there needs to be more disciplined. Not sure Gakpo gives much more help to the left back but at least he’s a bit mobile and covers back occasionally.
It wasn’t a problem when Mo was at his best because the ball was hardly ever in our half and defenders were terrified of his and Manes pace. Be interesting to see if Connor could cut it with Frimpong playing wide right. Kerkez looks better going forward than sitting, perhaps adapting the system with Guehi in a 3 would work with two up front.

Hi Diddly Ho, rumourinos
I heard a whisper that Forest tested the waters with Klopp - biggest managerial wage ever on the table.
He politely turned it down.

Y'know that sounds exactly up Evangelos Marinakis' street. "If I throw enough money at it, I can get the best manager in the world! "
If Nuno hadn't gone to West Ham, I bet he'd try rehiring him.

18 Oct 2025 22:04:51
Clown let's Nuno spend over €230m even though everyone knew he was on his last legs after how last season ended then sacks him after a couple of gemes! then proceeds to employ literally the most anti-nuno of managers to coach these players. Still not the slightest of chances he'll consider in the slightest its actually him to blame.
1
18 Oct 2025 23:39:14
Don’t think Nuno had a big choice of who was brought in tbh.
5
19 Oct 2025 01:39:36
It wasn't Nuno bringing in those players, it was edu, that was the reason behind the fallout I seem to remember.

19 Oct 2025 09:21:55
He seems like the sort of person that at some point is going to say “fnck this I’m doing it myself”.
