Afternoon Gents,
Multiple reports suggesting FSG want to keep Slot.
This is false for 3 reasons.
1. FSG Don't make those decisions.
2. Liverpool and Slot have came to an agreement that he will leave, not be sacked, he has been under scrutiny for a while, since the start of the year, and they both feel continuing isn't in the best interest of the club, but stressed he would not be humiliated by getting the sack, due to him winning the league last season, if he was to leave earlier, then Gerrard would take control until a new manager was brought in.
3. Liverpool have been talking to 3 specific managers for the role next season, Alonso, Enrique and Andoni Iraola, although as I've said a few times, I've been made aware that it will be Alonso.
Cheers Gents
13 Apr 2026 15:09:21
Thanks, Robbo.
Media and Journos stories have definitely unsettled some nerves....
Please also share info on the 3 suits upstairs if you have any.... Ward, Hughes & Edwards.
13 Apr 2026 15:46:11
Cheers, Robo.
13 Apr 2026 15:57:28
Iraola, every time for me. Alonso is untried in the prem and didn't pull up trees in Spain, and we have to get this appointment right.
13 Apr 2026 16:11:48
Once again, my understanding is that Slot will see out his contract. I've posted this a few times here, and have yet to be convinced otherwise. It sounds like Robbo knows some inside info, but how he would know the details, I don't understand.
We'll all just have to wait and see how it plays out.
13 Apr 2026 16:18:15
I prefer Iraola as well. Hope he gets the job.
13 Apr 2026 16:52:04
70% win rate sounds pretty decent to me with Real Ego FC. I would be happy with any of the 3, but the romantic in me would like Alonso.
13 Apr 2026 16:55:19
KBL, just wondering, is your info from inside or your take on things going on? Not being funny or meaning to insult, just wondering.
I hope the info is correct, and I don't want to insult the ITK, but I'm definitely a believe-anything-when-I-see-it kind of person.
13 Apr 2026 17:42:22
More great news. I believe any of those 3 would be great. Alonso and another half a billion should do the trick.
13 Apr 2026 18:28:16
Not sure it makes sense that there's this clear plan for him to leave, yet no 100% certainty on his replacement, and we're ripping up Mo's contract and not even an offer to Robbo.
I want it to be true, but will believe it when I see it.
13 Apr 2026 18:28:39
Don't get this Alonso failed at Madrid? If you don't want him as your choice then fine but a 70% win rate isn't a fail.
13 Apr 2026 18:32:51
SA - I am employed by the club as a driver for the women's team, and, as such, get some kind of feedback without being serious 'in the know'.
I am sure there are people who might know a lot more than me, but I just can't see how they would know anything in much detail.
I'm with you - believe when I see.
13 Apr 2026 18:34:18
But so was Jurgen Klopp when he took over in 2015, Jari.
13 Apr 2026 18:39:34
Things is, we think there is no clear plan on his replacement. But, for all we know, the replacement, if Slot is leaving, has already signed.
From some rumours I have seen, Alonso has already agreed to a 3 year contract.
13 Apr 2026 18:42:04
KBL, thanks mate, again, hope I didn't offend, just wondering. The summer is going to be interesting.
For me, if anything, it sort of makes sense that he leaves for family reasons.
13 Apr 2026 18:43:43
Alonso didn't fail at Madrid, they were 1 point behind Barca at the time they let him go and he had a 70% win rate, it wasn't the right move for him.
Have to say, I would love it if Enrique left PSG to join the Reds.
13 Apr 2026 12:14:44
A side of the coin you may not be looking at and one I've maybe not explained well.
Slot also wants to leave the Liverpool project and return home.
Ta.
13 Apr 2026 13:44:44
Great news.
13 Apr 2026 13:56:33
I heard a while back Ajax had been in contact, so that makes sense.
Secured us a league title, and will always hand him his flowers for that, but this season has reflected a manager whose heart is maybe not fully in it.
He has a young family who are still in Holland, and to be in charge of a club like Liverpool, with the pressure, requires a lot of personal sacrifice in terms of time. It also requires one to integrate themselves with the city and its people, which is something I don't think he has been able/willing to do, which has led to more disconnect.
A mutual shaking of the hands and parting ways this summer benefits both parties. This season has been a disaster, tbh, but who knows, maybe with a miracle involved we might see Arne with big ears come May before he slips back to the land of Clogg.
Who knows. Stranger things have happened.
One thing's for sure, whoever is next in the door needs to hit the ground running. I think it will be Xabi, who I do think will flourish, but the more I think about it, we should move heaven and earth to get in Enrique.
Ken.
13 Apr 2026 14:01:05
Let's just hope he saves face somewhat, and delivers Champions League football for next season. Sad the way this season has tarnished what he did last season.
13 Apr 2026 14:10:35
Cheers, Carra. This isn't spoken about enough.
13 Apr 2026 14:46:11
Cheers, Carra. I think most of us thought that was the case based on his frequent returns back to Holland.
13 Apr 2026 14:47:47
Pack his bags and get the Babel copter to fly him home. Nice to see you to see you nice, Mr Slot.
13 Apr 2026 14:49:33
Probably explains his lack of interest/motivation the C***.
13 Apr 2026 15:12:31
Thanks, Carra.
This leaves a sour taste though, right?
If he isn't fully invested, why is he still here then? Why hasn't he called time on his tenure?
Don't want to jump to any conclusions, but that's skating on thin ice...
13 Apr 2026 15:26:55
I mean, you can kind of tell. Compare an interview now to the starry eyed kid when he first joined, and you can tell he wants out.
Fair enough though, nothing against him if he wants to leave. Wouldn't want to keep him against his will.
I wouldn't want to keep him, full stop, though so there you go. Lol.
13 Apr 2026 15:27:09
Not surprising in the least. Cheers.
13 Apr 2026 15:34:04
Think he is already home... The amount of flights he's already taken, think he's been taking a small bag with him each time, only got socks n undies left in his house now.
13 Apr 2026 15:36:54
JLC, what's worse is why have the club allowed him to continue if he wanted to leave? Absolute joke, FSG need to clean house.
13 Apr 2026 15:49:43
When you take into consideration, both Hughes and Edwards are both coming to the end of their contracts, it shouldn't be the case, but it might explain the lack of urgency.
If you knew you were moving jobs months down the line, would you be rushing to make big decisions?
The noise around Hughes and Saudi is telling.
Wouldn't be shocked if, in the talks they probably had, Mo potentially moving there if he also had his own career in mind.
Massive summer ahead once again, World Cup also adds a layer of complexity.
13 Apr 2026 16:02:39
It's definitely in everyone's interests to separate by mutual agreement, Slot's reputation is maintained, particularly if he manages to sneak top 5, the club can maintain their stance of backing their coaches, and negativity is kept to a minimum.
13 Apr 2026 16:12:41
Edwards, Hughes and Slot closing ranks to protect each other's reputations and position it as a collective failure is no surprise. They are looking after their man and want to give him a "graceful" exit so he doesn't have a sacking on his CV.
It's just the way they work, isn't it? The same thing can be said of their approach to recruitment.
They would rather do nothing and go short than rush into a deal.
In the difficult economic times, this is good. But it does mean we have to accept these on/off seasons with issues only being resolved in summers. Frustrating for us fans, whose moods oscillate with the club's fortunes / vibes.
13 Apr 2026 15:53:58
The family thing is a handy smokescreen to, he just hasn't got the minerals to adapt to the prem, like every other Dutch manager that came before him.
13 Apr 2026 16:17:32
Too big for him. What we need now is a great coach with a strong personality to live and breathe the Liverpool life.
13 Apr 2026 16:42:00
If this is true, he might as well stay in Holland & take training over Teams, probably wouldn't be any less ineffective.
13 Apr 2026 16:50:03
Now, if Slot went to Ajax and was joined by Mo and Robbo, that would be one hell of a headwrecker to process.
13 Apr 2026 17:07:07
It'd make you wonder why you don't see the mutual consent thing more often, wouldn't it? Seen as, every manager is some Chief Exec's 'man' after all. All these clubs that just outright sack their manager mustn't be concerned about giving them a graceful exit or protecting their CV.
{Ed025's Note - and why should they?..they are being sacked for a reason FM..
13 Apr 2026 17:49:18
Why's he still here then?
We want him gone. He wants to go.
Who the hell is running this football club?
13 Apr 2026 17:50:44
But unlike other Dutch managers, he won the PL with us, FatSpanishWaiter. I'm one of the more critical Slot posters here, but you cannot take away from the man what he achieved. He brought us number 20. And didn't we all love it at the time? You seem to have forgotten that fact.
13 Apr 2026 17:58:55
Ridiculous. Want him gone, fine. But to say the reigning champion manager didn't adapt to the league is. I actually don't even know what it is. Two year stint, league in the bag while securing Champs League footie both seasons. The bloke leaves having done that in his time here, it's job well done for me.
13 Apr 2026 18:57:34
Also Mr Slot will leave a very rich man.....in more ways than one!!
13 Apr 2026 10:45:15
I see we are being linked with Alex Scott this morning, the player himself is keen on the move, I like him. Could be a decent squad player.
13 Apr 2026 11:23:00
I'd take him at Liverpool to be fair. Lallana vibes.
13 Apr 2026 12:01:49
We really need to get our next midfield signings spot on! We have plenty of all rounders already.
13 Apr 2026 12:20:01
Wow. Has Frimpong been shot dead? Is this real?
13 Apr 2026 12:26:37
Dominic Frimpong from the Ghana League.
13 Apr 2026 12:47:17
Rax, I'm sure you could have looked that up before posting it!
13 Apr 2026 13:45:15
More dynamic than Lallana but not as good at Cruyff turns.
13 Apr 2026 15:39:48
FlyPelican, agreed, we need specialists.
13 Apr 2026 15:44:44
Waiting to see what VV says before I YouTube.
12 Apr 2026 20:14:30
Hi diddly Ho,
Wow, Robertson himself has revealed there was no offer on the table from the club.
I’m sorry I gave you all wrong information - will definitely be more precarious with what I pass on in future.
Diddly out.
12 Apr 2026 20:21:08
It's a tricky one. There's no point offering a contract if they can't offer what he wants - guaranteed playing time. The PR sounds bad when he says 'no contract is offered' but fair play imo. Robbo wants to leave and that's his call. Legend and wish him all the best.
12 Apr 2026 20:25:44
I'm sure it won't be the last time, Ned.
12 Apr 2026 21:01:34
No one knows anything anymore, the leaks have been plugged.
12 Apr 2026 21:34:05
I'd of kept him.
12 Apr 2026 21:51:50
Kroupi is the latest being linked. £60m fee being mentioned online.
12 Apr 2026 22:22:40
Just seen he's agreed to go to Spurs if they stay up?
Anyone know if any truth to that?
13 Apr 2026 04:07:03
I think there's a chance he moves north to Celtic.
13 Apr 2026 07:45:21
Celtic is Robbie's preference.
13 Apr 2026 10:27:43
To be fair, the club don't have to make a contract offer if they don't want to. Top notch person and player who can hold his head up high.
13 Apr 2026 10:32:57
Clearing the way for Alonso to build the next dynasty, without having unsuitable players dumped on him. I hope Alonso is able to have more control than Slot, more akin to Klopp, who was happy to accept what the data boys said, to a certain extent.
13 Apr 2026 10:50:59
I'm not sure this is really controversial? Robbo has been a fantastic player, you don't win two league titles and a Champions League otherwise. But his time is up, it's part of the natural order of things. Given he is no longer first choice, it makes no sense having a non home grown player as a back up, that should be one of the youngsters like Beck.
Pound for pound, one of the best signings the club has ever made and right up there with Alan Kennedy as one of the best left backs to play for the club in my honest opinion.
13 Apr 2026 10:53:13
Celtic have Tierney and pay him a huge wage. Can't see them wanting Robertson for the same position and an even higher wage.
13 Apr 2026 11:40:15
Robbo's still better than Tierney, and there's precedent anyway as they've played together in the national team.
13 Apr 2026 12:37:29
Scotland play a back 5 to accommodate both, which Celtic would never play. I agree he's better, but Celtic won't be able to sell Tierney due to his high wage and injury record, and he won't want to leave. Robbo will go elsewhere.
13 Apr 2026 13:30:28
They had a conversation, as a result of that Liverpool decided not to offer a contract. I can't see a problem with that.
12 Apr 2026 15:55:38
Transfermarkt have us linked with Hoffenheim winger Traore. Electric pace and looks talented. Only 20. Perhaps him and Diomande would be great options for the wings with Rio in the mix as well.
12 Apr 2026 17:12:03
I'd be absolutely buzzing if we got them both, Gakpo as a 3rd choice CF or 2nd choice LB behind Rio...
12 Apr 2026 18:10:55
I'd be happy to sell Eki, Isak and Gakpo, and to start again.
Diomande looks absolutely top drawer to me and reminds me more of Jurgens top 3 in style.
I've missed electric play, from gegenpressing to depressing.
12 Apr 2026 18:30:38
Looks top drawer in the Bundesliga, big step up. Haven't seen much of the kid in fairness, hopefully if he comes in, he smashes it.
12 Apr 2026 19:01:53
Sell Ekitike!?! I must be watching a different team.
12 Apr 2026 19:14:15
I'm not selling Isak or Ekitike unless someone is paying way over the odds for them.
12 Apr 2026 19:37:58
I can see one or other of them leaving, tbh, as I don't see either being willing to sit on the bench next season. Ekitike has the higher potential right now, but if Isak gets going, I can't see Ekitike displacing him.
12 Apr 2026 19:50:03
Overkill,
What is it about some Liverpool supporters that don't understand squads and rotation? Are Liverpool not allowed to have two players fighting for a position? Manchester City just took off Semenyo and Doku to be replaced by Foden and Savinho. Ekitike has looked as if he has been running in sand for the past 6 weeks. He has been carrying the striker's burden all season because there was no one of quality to rest him.
Isak is not the type of player to play 60 games a season. There is plenty of room for both Isak and Ekitike. Sometimes they will be rotated, sometimes they will be rested, or one of them will be injured. If both are fit, they could even play together, with Ekitike coming from the left, or one will be a quality player coming on from the bench.
12 Apr 2026 19:52:18
Isak is best in class & when fit, and if he could maintain his fitness next season, will be a real asset.
12 Apr 2026 19:53:50
Plenty of games for both if we wanna go deep in all competitions.
12 Apr 2026 21:47:08
I'm thinking more about the personalities, could their egos take it, particularly if we're not winning games.
12 Apr 2026 21:59:35
Between them they've won a Ligue 1 and a couple of cups. This is Liverpool FC we're talking about. Leave your egos at the door, lads.
12 Apr 2026 23:11:59
Eki and Isak do almost no other work. They are not LFC signings.
We can afford to have 1 player in the front 3 who does not press, and that only worked in Mo's case because of the adaptations to the set up and having Trent.
We now have Eki, Isak, Mo and Rio, who do no dirty work. Gakpo is a limited player too, and we lost Diaz. All this shows is that Edwards and Hughes are not the Jedi they think they are.
Eki 'could' be like Henry, but I doubt he will reach those heights.
Alonso likes grafters, and, Wirtz aside, the supposedly great window is looking average, at best. Throw Mama and Fede into the mix, and the hit rate looks well below average. I'm not saying that I was not excited and pleased for that window, but I'm not paid millions to bring the right players to the club.
Guehi and Semenyo would have been much better signings for this stodgy league.
13 Apr 2026 09:10:25
I don't blame the club not offering extensions, his positioning wasn't great, he was culpable in many goals at the end of his time here for being too deep vs the rest of the back line.
The legs have gone, and he can't get back as he could when he first joined, hence sitting deeper.
Still wish he could be there as a back up though vs Tsimi, but he can go and hold his head high. I'd have loved him to stay on and help Kerkez, especially with crossing and not diving in.
Best of luck, Robbo.
12 Apr 2026 08:36:07
Slot is leaving at the end of the season, even if Liverpool win the Champions League.
The KNVB (Dutch Football Association) have spoken to Slot regarding taking over from Ronald Koeman after the World Cup. Slot is leaning towards international management over a return to club football. Ajax are hoping to convince him to change his mind.
Ignore the media briefings.
12 Apr 2026 09:26:48
He should be leaning towards pub football. He is a one trick pony with zero leadership skills.
12 Apr 2026 10:08:01
A bit excessive, FSW. A cup and league win with Feyenoord and a Premier League title. It's been a bad season all round for us, but I wouldn't think he would have trouble getting another job when he leaves.
For the record I'm in the Slot out camp.
12 Apr 2026 11:04:02
I think Slot is/would be a good manager at a smaller club but can't transfer that to the top level. There are loads of cases like that. It takes a little bit extra to succeed at bigger clubs - like Moyes, Nuno, or even Hodgson, for example, very good managers but just can't show at top level.
Slot was very lucky that he had a ready made team that knew exactly how to play & was well drilled. Slowly that style was coached out of them the longer Slot was here, so by the end of last season the fluid offensive/defensive pressing unit had been changed into something far less successful & entertaining.
Yesterday showed two things. 1. We can play the old way when we want (some of the first half) & 2. We can't play it for long because we are not fit enough (due to training changes) to keep it up for very long.
A new manager coming in with a truncated summer due to WC will have to work hard to get our fitness levels back to where they should be.
12 Apr 2026 11:28:45
Unfortunately, you are totally incorrect. If Slot wins the CL, he will stay. It's extremely unlikely, but he will stay. We won't sack a manager who has won the PL and CL back to back.
12 Apr 2026 12:01:01
Slot thinks he can play Dutch football in the Premier League.
He can't. He had a great first season but has been found out.
The only reason he starts next season as LFC manager is if the number one replacement is unavailable - like Rodgers and Klopp.
12 Apr 2026 12:55:55
@Skezza,
This isn't the club sacking Slot. This is a mutual agreement between Liverpool and Slot to separate, based on Slot's decision to be with his family.
Slot doesn't want to stay in England, and his family don't want to move abroad. Despite staying for education reasons, Slot's family are settled, and he doesn't want to stay a third season without them.
He's also not convinced on the long-term stability of staying on Merseyside.
He wants to move back home. It's nothing to do with whether the Liverpool board wish to sack him or not. It's his decision. He's communicated his decision to depart at the end of the season, regardless of what success we achieve.
12 Apr 2026 13:07:19
Ok that makes a bit more sense, thanks for clarifying.
If true, it completely changes the scope of his options when he leaves Liverpool. International management, even if it is for the Dutch national team, would involve a hell of a lot of travelling away from the country to watch players in different countries, etc. so it's not exactly the perfect scenario for him either.
12 Apr 2026 13:22:43
Nutter, we played more like the old way yesterday because we had a centre forward willing to put in a shift and start the press. Ekitike has started 21 league games for us and Isak has started 5. Isak has had his excuses for not being 100% fit, but Ekitike, although having a good season, is non-existent when it comes to pressing. It's half-hearted at best. Now, is it just coincidence that when someone else is up there, willing or able to put the work in, we look better? Do we really think the players are only told to press when neither of the two guys starts up front? Next season, under whatever manager, I would expect a lot more workrate outa Ekitike up there, he should be more used to English football then.
Isak too should be fully fit. It all starts from the front.
12 Apr 2026 13:59:07
@Rocky, if you don't mind me asking what is making you say this with such certainty?
Ken.
12 Apr 2026 15:06:26
He's got the eye of the Tiger.
12 Apr 2026 15:14:56
Sounds like Slot is trying to make out it's mutual as a way to cover his failings. He was happy to talk of a new contract when he was in the ascendency.
I'm in complete agreement re Eki and Isak. Neither are LFC type players, because we press from the front and they don't.
Edwards and Hughes got those two very wrong, but if we sell Eki soon enough, we can still make a bit. Isak is going to lose a tonne of money.
Xabi will not accept slouches.
12 Apr 2026 15:16:41
Silly question, @KingKen77, it's obvious @RockyBalboa gets his inside info from our ex keeper Adrian!
12 Apr 2026 16:54:03
@Ken,
All I can say is that my information has not come from anyone within Liverpool circles, so with regard to the next manager, and what FSG/Edwards/Hughes are thinking, I have no idea. I also have no idea what players are thinking, and if any of them dislike him. The only thing is that his communication to FSG/Edwards/Hughes was accepted.
What I know is that shortly after contract talks were put on hold, Slot and family had long discussions about the future, about life on Merseyside, and the conclusion was that neither Arne Slot nor his wife and children could see a future for themselves in the city of Liverpool. They don't want to have their privacy invaded, and Slot privately admits he just didn't grasp the size and scale of Liverpool Football Club. He'd read, heard about it, and spoke to some people, but he never truly understood it until he took on the role.
His family are more than aware of criticisms online and in the press, as the Dutch media have also covered this when discussing the Premier League. They've never experienced this before, as there wasn't the level of scrutiny with AZ or Feyenoord. However, he is on good terms with Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards, and while he was aware there were major concerns in the winter over the number of losses accumulating, Slot appreciates the support he's had from above.
Now, Slot feels international management may suit him more, and still leave the door open to return to club football in the future. Yes, there's travelling to games, but it won't take him long to return home, and for games abroad, he can travel back the same or next day. However, Slot also knows that Ajax could be a holding job for him, winning a few titles and then moving elsewhere in the future.
12 Apr 2026 17:06:50
Hollywood are missing a trick..undiscovered script writers multiplying on here by the week. 😆
12 Apr 2026 19:27:24
It's a rumours site, not a "bang the same drum for months and offer up anything" site.
12 Apr 2026 19:31:42
The rumours draw people to this site.
12 Apr 2026 20:58:38
Florian, would love the ITK's on here who say he's leaving to be wrong.
Just out of interest, what can you see that nearly all of the fan base can't, that shows he's improving (given we've been poor for over a year now), but should remain next season.
I'd be absolutely shocked if you've enjoyed the playing style that's brought us this season's awful results/performances.
Convince us why you think he should stay.
12 Apr 2026 21:16:08
Been saying for months he'll be gone in May, Nutter.
12 Apr 2026 22:12:50
Ekitike and Isak can be taught to press though,..... especially if we have new fast, direct, and pressing wingers.
13 Apr 2026 07:33:43
Family first, professional success second. That is character.
13 Apr 2026 09:37:41
Interesting with the criticism of Slot, as that suggests 99% of us fans got it completely wrong. I see Enrique arriving, particularly if PSG win the big one this season.
12 Apr 2026 08:07:08
Friend of mine who's dad scouts for a few teams was at an event the other day where Jones attended. He said Slot has lost changing rooms and it's Jones and Mac that are having the bust up in the changing rooms.
12 Apr 2026 09:45:29
I'd be happy to see the back of all 3 of them.
12 Apr 2026 10:08:33
I'd agree, Shanks. Quite ironic if two of our worst performing midfielders are arguing with each other or the coach. Grav, as the other poor performer, doesn't seem the arguing type. He probably just smiles.
12 Apr 2026 11:25:07
Jones is annoyed at Mac because he didn't invite him to a BBQ that was hosted before the season started, that's where it all began. Mac invited the first team players but left many of the fringe players off the invitation.
12 Apr 2026 12:10:18
Petulant child.
12 Apr 2026 13:53:46
Better than Corrie.

I'm reserving judgment until we've had a chance to hear from Curtis's window washer.

Hi Diddly Ho,
That performance showed we can play good football; few mishaps but we did keep a clean sheet and no succumb to pressure.
Still as always, Alonso to take the reins in the summer, but these last few weeks might not be as eye-gauging as we’d feared.
Hope Rio starts vs PSG. He’s looked brilliant whenever he’s played.
Szoboszlai deal to be announced in the next few weeks. Presume the discontent with his reaction to fans last week has delayed things; but it’s all agreed, though I’m not sure if it’s signed.
My source doesn’t really get much transfer stuff now, but they’ve heard a rumour that Alisson may be open to returning to Italy - but nothing will be decided until after the World Cup and pre-season gets underway. Think reading between those lines that he wants to see how the new coaching setup works and implements him.
Based on my source's role, they tell me a few things about other clubs so happy to share here if anyone’s interested; even though they’re LFC oriented.
Diddly Out.

Share all you can, Ned. Any insights are interesting.
I second that with Rio for me he has earnt a start against PSG, an early goal and who knows we might just surprise a few.

Thanks for that Ned. Great info as usual.

According to Ornstein, Slot will continue next season. This year has been a transition year. FSG have said he will be the manager next season, nothing has changed. So what do we believe, and if not, where are people getting their information from regarding where Slot will go?
11 Apr 2026 21:34:08
Even if Slot starts the new season, he'll be sacked by Christmas.
11 Apr 2026 22:43:22
Grav7, in situations like these the likes of Ornstein operate as a mouthpiece for the club, it's simply an attempt to steady the boat, kill the noise and attempt to somewhat unify the fan base.
You don't really expect ITK's to reveal their sources do you? Are you new to the site?
11 Apr 2026 22:46:52
Sorry, I don't buy the transition season excuse that the press are spreading. A transition season is getting used to a new style, new players, inconsistent results. Not that the players look like they should be carrying tanks of oxygen around with them.
11 Apr 2026 23:43:23
Mainstream outlets genuinely get fed information from the club; the club tries their best to portray an image that doesn't suggest behind the scenes is a concern.
The great thing about the club over the last few years is that they struck down a lot of leaks; the past 12-18 months, however, have seen leaks multiplying.
12 Apr 2026 00:55:00
I don't buy the "transition season" specially when journos were being briefed about the biggest transfer budget before the season started and how they wanted to build on a title win. Season has been horrendous. As for the game today, Fulham had more shots than us, ran more, and made more tackles.
We looked weak through the middle when they ran through midfield, and we got lucky because they couldn't convert their chances. Another day that ends in a draw. PSG won't be so generous on Tuesday.
12 Apr 2026 03:22:43
I buy the transition but not the transition season from the team that won the league last season. You could sensibly expect Ali, Robbo, VVD and Mo to leave over the course of the following two seasons. We also had TAA and Diaz choosing to leave. By the start of the 27/28 season, we won't look anything like the team that won the 24/25 league.
I also think that, from a solely business perspective, the thing FSG would have wanted this season was to maintain (at the very least) their revenue streams, and a key factor in that is securing qualification for CL for the 26/27 season, with anecdotal evidence that United 'lost' £100m by not qualifying for the CL this season.
If my conjecture is anywhere near true then Slot could feasibly meet the business criteria for the club.
Given that may happen, then it's not beyond the realms of possibility that FSG might think he has fulfilled what he needed to do.
Of course, from a fans' perspective, we have been woeful, and the occasional good games have just added to the frustration and overall great disappointment. In my opinion the players, generally speaking, have been poor, but most of the blame for that is the clueless way in which they seem to have been 'prepared' in terms of fitness, teamwork and working to a recognised method of playing good football and winning matches. The failure lies at Slot's foot - carries the can. We might be ok from a business perspective but from a football perspective the transition is failing.
12 Apr 2026 06:54:54
I refuse to believe that the season after being crowned Champions is a transition season.
After winning the league, a team should freshen things up, but that is not a transition exercise.
For various reasons, this season, from a PL perspective, has been a total and complete failure, and it's not because it's a transition season.
12 Apr 2026 08:16:41
Thanks, neighbourino! Say hello to Rod and Todd.
12 Apr 2026 08:28:58
It's partly been a self-imposed transition as we've chosen different tactics and set up to previous seasons. If anything, that's what's caused the biggest problem.
The transition of three ageing players in Robbo, Ali and Mo has also caused a big problem, not because we've had to do it but more because their replacements haven't been up to their levels.
We've also had Mo in and out, which has caused its own issues.
The fact we've also been forced to transition out Diaz as he wanted out, and change upfront due to Jota passing, has meant more change in one season than was probably expected.
12 Apr 2026 09:25:42
Leaks were bad during B-rod's tenure, but were eventually shut down. Someone was leaking team sheets a few hours before the official announcements.
{Ed001's Note - no they weren't leaking them. It was Bodgers himself giving it away by putting the team in a different colour bib from the others. No one was leaking it, people were just watching training from the surrounding houses.}
12 Apr 2026 09:47:51
Classic Bodgers covert tactics!!!!. 🤣🤣
13 Apr 2026 09:18:10
Hahaha, yes I remember. At the time Brodge was furious and even on here fans were coming on and just saying who was wearing what bibs. They then erected a fence around the training sessions to block the houses' views.

Are the rumours true that Alli has provisionally agreed a deal to join Juventus this summer in
with a 3 year contract?
11 Apr 2026 11:30:22
I saw this in the paper the other day. I hope not. Mamadashvilli is a good keeper but he's no Allison.
11 Apr 2026 12:08:34
Would be a huge disappointment if Alli left, as he is still the best keeper in the world in my opinion.
Having said that, his injury record is bad and getting worse.
I would be happy to bring Kelleher back as number one. Never let us down, knows and loves the club.
11 Apr 2026 12:10:36
I bloody hope not. Feels like we've been kicked in the balls a lot recently.
11 Apr 2026 12:34:55
Don't worry, Mcgoveb, I think they're talking about Dele Ali.
11 Apr 2026 13:29:49
The way the directors are moving I am half expecting Alisson and Virgil to follow Mo and Robbo in the summer.
11 Apr 2026 13:39:39
Slot is getting rid of those who have a voice...
11 Apr 2026 14:02:34
I thought Liverpool had triggered a 1 year extension to his contract.
11 Apr 2026 14:35:50
What Always Red said.
11 Apr 2026 14:50:18
I mean, Alisson this season is no Alisson.
Increasingly injury prone, can't kick the ball long without pulling a hammy.
Wouldn't be against letting him go if we brought in someone like Trafford to compete with Mamardashvilli. Will obviously be a big step down on Ali in his prime, but he isn't the same player anymore. Helps with home grown quote as well.
11 Apr 2026 14:59:55
We all love Alisson, no debate - he's been world class and won everything with us. But we can't run a football club on sentiment.
His injury record for a goalkeeper is a real concern now. Availability matters more than ability at this stage, and right now he's not giving us that consistently. A top keeper missing chunks of the season every year - especially around Nov/Dec - hurts rhythm, leadership, and stability at the back.
Also, let's be honest - his distribution isn't what it used to be. In a system that relies on build-up, that matters.
We're entering a massive transition period.
With Salah, VVD, Robbo and Alisson all in that senior bracket, we can't afford to hold on too long and then rebuild everything at once. That's how clubs fall off - just look at how long it took after Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger stayed too long.
If the club is thinking long-term, tough decisions have to be made early - not late.
And the Brazil World Cup angle doesn't sit right either - feels like we're managing him for international football while carrying the risk domestically.
Legend, no doubt. But if we're being ruthless about staying at the top, we have to start planning beyond him now.
11 Apr 2026 15:14:30
He is obviously past his very best, but a one armed Alisson is better than Marmalade every day of the week. Whenever Ali is moving, then we need to find a proper replacement for him, either from within, or spend big on the best we can buy. He's been crucial to our team.
11 Apr 2026 15:18:54
Is Jaros doing well on loan to Ajax? Is he getting recalled?
11 Apr 2026 15:45:55
It's nonsense. Juventus will not pay what we want for him.
11 Apr 2026 17:41:11
Allisson wants to return to Brazil to live, but may go via Italy.
He is no longer the best keeper in the world, he is way too injury prone to achieve that status, and he has had some poor performances too this season.
I would look at the Russian boy at Madrid to replace him or ask Kelleher to return.
11 Apr 2026 19:46:30
Rumours of Ali to Juventus have been doing the rounds since at least February, there's no weight to them, we've already triggered a 1 year extension.
11 Apr 2026 19:59:49
Jaros blew his knee out on the 21st February so I would doubt he will be able to get back to cover for Allison.
Hopefully, for him, he can recover quickly as he looks like he has a great chance of success as a future number 1.
11 Apr 2026 20:30:53
If he has let him go, s***house if he has, we want players at LFC that want to play for the club, injury prone, thanks for the last few years but move on, every player is a transient employee.
11 Apr 2026 22:09:49
Daf××k you talking about intel?
12 Apr 2026 04:27:33
Keepers usually can keep it together till 38-39 so Ali has another 5 years with us. The problem is we are so reliant on him, and he misses 20 games a season. This was a trash season, but had we been competing for top positions, Ali not being there would have blown our chances.
We need to check what's wrong with Mama.
I kid you not, he was an outstanding GK in La Liga. Not great with his feet, but excellent shot stopping and positioning. I don't know how he has gone that bad. But it's maybe because he is trying too much, as Ali is no1, and he is under pressure to perform when he gets the chance.
12 Apr 2026 10:05:08
As well as being one of the best keepers defending one to ones, Ali had the best distribution of any keeper.
Now that he can't kick due to injury, and we don't play as high a line so we don't expose ourselves to players running through on goal, two of his major qualities aren't there.
He's still a very good keeper in other ways, but if he only plays around twenty games, it's a problem for us when he's on a full time wage as a superstar player.
It's a dilemma, and he's very difficult to replace. It would be great if he'd stay on a performance related package, but he may want to go and live in Italy or Brazil and you could understand that.
12 Apr 2026 09:51:49
What a brainless comment Intel. Just plain dumb. Perhaps it's just for the attention. You not getting much at home???
