Hi Edd 002,
Why are we looking at loan options in this window.
We have one of the highest revenues in football but choose to shop in midfielder wilderness.
I know no one will touch Michael Edwards for who he brought in at his time at the club.
Has Ward got the funds or a complete incompetence of the need for midfielders.
This isn't just this season.
Yes we were in all completions late on last season, I think Mane was the reason, but if you don't plan ahead on what was already an ageing midfielder then the s*** will eventually hit the fan.
The names now being mentioned bring a 'sticking plaster to a war zone"approach.
Whoever thinks Bellingham or Caicedo or that level of player are coming in the summer is living in clod cuckoo land.
Now or never for them, otherwise its loan deals or championship midfielders in the summer.
My 9 year old son wants a top with Bellingham on not Berge from Sheffield Wednesday.
Shirt sales, merchandise sales would rocket, if we got the stars, not just here but around the world.
The young kids all growing up seem to be drawn to successful clubs, Man City come to mind. A lot more youngsters supporting them which means sales of merchandise because owners invested in the team.
It's sad watching Liverpool do business like this.
Thanks Edd 002 for all your knowledge, insight and of course time and patience with us.
{Ed002's Note - It is Klopp who wouldn't sanction a move for a midfield player in a timely manner - and that likely lost them the chance to sign Amrabat without now playing a sign premium. Bellingham is not available this month.}

I’ll say it again, it seems that no one at the club is on the same page. There needs to be someone at the helm who can get control of the situation and get everyone together. The right has no idea what the left is doing and everyone seems frustrated.
2.) 27 Jan 2023 16:40:02
Happier with Bajcetic than Amrabat.
3.) 27 Jan 2023 17:10:15
Very glad we didn’t move for Amrabat tbh. Maybe a decent player but the money being talked about was crazy.
4.) 27 Jan 2023 17:30:07
Mrredsky
“Now or never for them, otherwise its loan deals or championship midfielders in the summer”
Hahaha have a day off.
Arsenal signed Jesus, Zinchenko, saliba, odegaard, etc all while being outside of the top 4. Newcastle signed Bruno Guimares and Isaak. Etc etc.
5.) 27 Jan 2023 17:46:19
Navy, they have money to spend and don’t work on a hand to mouth basis. We however don’t have money to spend and we do work on a hand to mouth basis. If you’re thinking this summer is going to be a big spending one, you’re in for a lot of disappointment.
6.) 27 Jan 2023 18:04:35
If Arsenal get Caceido we will be even further behind them - if they get a new goalkeeper and a right back we will be miles behind them and their squad is young and will only get better. Our squad is aging in important areas whilst others are improving. It's not looking good. Id have thought one decent midfielder would have come in to give us a push in January and Bellingham in the summer. Gutted.
7.) 27 Jan 2023 18:47:57
We were praised for being such a well run club for a few years especially in the transfer market it couldn’t be further from that now. Kabak Davies Arthur now i’m seeing links to Berge on loan if we can raise money by selling Phillips? Our midfield is in dire need of a rebuild yet im glad we didn’t get Amrabat because it stinks of another player not good enough we’d struggle to move on. Huge contracts handed out wrongly. Absolutely zero succession planning. Square pegs in round holes. Awful results on the pitch. Things need changing badly.
8.) 27 Jan 2023 19:24:40
MFDOOOM is VVVV right?
9.) 27 Jan 2023 19:25:12
Jude, bajcetic is a kid, who needs time to develop properly and we shouldn't be depending on a kid at a time when our senior players have completely gone missing.
10.) 27 Jan 2023 19:29:51
The sooner FSG sell to someone who can take us forward the better.
11.) 27 Jan 2023 19:33:26
Oh the doom and the gloom. How will we ever survive?
12.) 27 Jan 2023 21:06:56
And we also shouldn't be buying players we usually wouldn't look twice at because were off form!
13.) 27 Jan 2023 22:30:35
I believe so thunderbird, but there was some strange crossover I noticed where they seemed to correspond with each other. Bobby’s teeth all over again perhaps?
14.) 27 Jan 2023 22:52:53
Thank god, Amrabat is average at best.
15.) 28 Jan 2023 05:18:04
Bajcetic wouldn’t be developing sitting behind Amrabat. I’m taking Bajcetic all day.
Klopp made a mistake and that’s it. Don’t think it needs surgical repair but luckily we have Klopp about to try and remedy his mistake.
16.) 28 Jan 2023 07:35:53
Listen to your selves you have blamed FSG you have blamed Pep you have blamed Edwards you have blamed Ward you have blamed diffrent players .
We have injuries to our top stars we have players struggling for their best form we have a manager that has been non stop since he arrived we have had a world cup mid season .
I believed this would happen when fighting on four fronts it would cause long term problems for any top team but our team did not have the quality of players for back up.
If we have a poor season by our standards so be it we have missed out on champs league before and returned to it .
Come on reds we are starting to sound like the bitters you support your club through good and the bad times that is what us reds do we have no devine right to be the best we have to earn this by everyone gets behind Liverpool fc and FSG and Klopp and pep and the players.
17.) 28 Jan 2023 09:14:33
I believe between tight arse owners and a stubborn manager they will both drag this club to low levels. Can’t believe the situation we are in with our shambles midfield that no signings have been made it’s a disgrace. Instead we go and buy a bang average at best player who had a decent couple games in the World Cup.
I fear for where we are heading with the current owners as they appear only interested in two things to me an NBA team and their sporting portfolio.
18.) 28 Jan 2023 20:05:00
I read that by Whitewalker and genuinely thought I was on the Everton page.

Trent is going but if Virgil and Salah go, that is a disgrace.
Nunez will go, along with Diaz to generate some money, Harvey Elliot too.
So it could be 2 CB's a LB with either Robertson or Tsimi going, a RB, a striker and a versatile forward who can play along the front line.
So 6 players coming in to the squad in the summer.
FSG don't sanction spending, so it's sell to buy.
It's a disgrace what this club have done to Virgil and Salah. no wonder the boys look tired.
Where's the clubs loyalty to arguably the best centre back we've ever had.
1.) 20 Mar 2025 07:49:02
By the phrase fsg don’t sanct spending do you mean the huge money investment they made on players who didn’t work out need to be replaced with more huge money signings who may or may not work out so risk the club’s financial security so you can whine about that too?
Nunez gakpo Diaz jota didn’t come cheap there pretty recent (in terms of building a squad for 5/ 7 years competition)
Grav mac dom also not cheap also recent.
Curious what you possibly want them to do.
2.) 20 Mar 2025 07:57:03
Well if they go they are going to need replaced. that's just a fact. Clearly we might not be lucky enough to get players in Salah or Virgil’s calibre. It’s always difficult when quality players come to an end of their Liverpool careers but we have replaced good players before . Maybe if we did replace Nunez and Jota we might get 2 forwards who can stay fitter and contribute more goals, negating a few of Salah’s goals?
Or maybe they stay and we kick the can down the road for a season or 2 ?♂️
I think the club are wary of giving 2 players in their 30s what equates to circa £36 million in wages a year, which is fair enough in my opinion.
Let’s enjoy this season tho. We are 12 points clear and people are moaning like crazy while we are about to win our second PL in 30 odd years! Bizarre!
3.) 20 Mar 2025 08:22:16
I'm with you, Irish. Well said, mate.
4.) 20 Mar 2025 08:22:20
It's al FSG's fault because players get older.
Decent owners would stop the ageing process.
5.) 20 Mar 2025 09:05:44
But them players in their 30's are better than all the players we have in their 20's Irish. Age aside they are our best wo players by a mile. The two of them will walk onto the team of the year, Salah will claim every POTY award going.
6.) 20 Mar 2025 09:31:21
Perhaps I'm just too giddy by the thought that we might win the league this year that my anger levels I was experiencing at the start of the season have just gone way down.
I still hope that all 3 sign. I think that sets us up for next season incredibly nicely. 2 or 3 of the right signings on top with the right sales and we'll be and even greater force next season that would take some stopping.
Losing all three or any of them really is a real hurdle that Hughes would have to navigate. There is potential of a serious drop off (likely) . But don't think he can buy players that would match the world class ones leaving.
But what he might be able to do is buy younger ones that can still with the quality to perhaps reach close to levels.
It's about getting every decision and timing right.
It's not easy at all. DOF is a very tough job.
I just hope Hughes is up to it.
But my main thought now is one thing and one thing only
Win the league.
Once that's in the bag, I can't wait to play football manager with you all.
7.) 20 Mar 2025 09:46:58
@Flash, or you can put them in a Cryogenic Chamber. I here that can stop the aging process.
@Mredsky, you're overthinking this way too much, IMO. If the Big 3 go, they will be replaced so there is NO disgrace happening here except for those who are mad the club may not do what they want. Oh and "sell to buy" is what ALL clubs do from Real Madrid to Ipswich so that's not as much as a dig as you think it is.
Now as the late great Ed02 used to say, "Players are nothing but transient employees". They come, they go BUT the club still stands and we will replace players who go in the best way possible. Our boys were going to leave at some point so might as well be now off of our 20th title win, right?
At the end of the day, we have a title to secure with a 12 to 13 point cushion (if you add the GD) as others have said so let's go do that and celebrate like it's 2019. The rest will take care of itself.
8.) 20 Mar 2025 09:48:19
The age old FSG don't sanction spending argument rears it's ugly head again.
I guess in one sense you're correct. They don't. But not in the directed implementation you're trying to achieve.
FSG don't sanction spending. because they have absolutely nothing to do with the running of the club OR it's transfer decisions. That's down to those who are trusted and employed in post to worry about.
9.) 20 Mar 2025 09:59:13
I don’t disagree Florian but we are going to have to replace them at some stage, be it now or kick the can down the road for a season or so. Their wage demands are a fair wedge of money and I haven’t even included Trent’s . I would love them all to stay but obviously there’s other stuff at hand which we have no clue about.
Enjoy the season ?.
10.) 20 Mar 2025 10:01:25
An amazing season but if the main players all leave we are bang in trouble. Man U will win 21before we do.
11.) 20 Mar 2025 10:15:28
The thing is threw the years we've always had some v good goalscorers and forwards. If I think of 1986 onwards I could easily name a dozen top class forwards we have had and 7r8 at a certain time where world class while with us imo. If I do the same with defenders I can only think of 2 world class defenders we've had and maybe another 2/ 3 top class players.
My point is that vvd is virtually irreplaceable, the past shows that. We should be bending over backwards to get him to extend not twisting over contract lenght.
12.) 20 Mar 2025 10:56:56
Not a single signing for the First 11 in 3 transfer windows. Can’t turn into 4 surely.
13.) 20 Mar 2025 12:19:04
I think Ed has repeatedly said that FSG doesn't pick the players we buy. Henry or Werner probably doesn't even know the name of half of our squad.
14.) 20 Mar 2025 12:29:52
I agree LFC 8
Money to spend and Hughes has no back up plan to Zubimendi
Drogie.
15.) 20 Mar 2025 12:34:23
I know Irish pal, unfortunately. And Oli i see what you mean but without mo and Virg this year we would be nowhere near about to claim No.20.i think the fact were about to be champions is making people undersell how good these two have been this year.
16.) 20 Mar 2025 12:55:17
It's pretty obvious the new management structure is willing to whiteknuckle the big 3 contract negotiations until the end of the season, leveraging the player loyalty against the leverage that the previous management structure gave to the players by letting it get to this step. They will blame the previous guys if it doesn't go their way.
Optically, it looks poor for the club. 3 out of 4 of our best players and all-timers are out of contract in 3 months time, two who are having stellar seasons. And the whole football world knows about it, including prospective players.
I still think we get Virg and Mo done in the end but could lose some good will/ vibes at the club as a result.
Trent I am less confident on.
17.) 20 Mar 2025 12:58:17
LiverpoolFC8 states:
Not a single signing for the First 11 in 3 transfer windows. Can’t turn into 4 surely.
So I see what you did there. Purposefully eliminating the the summer of 23/ 24 whereby the entirety of our main starting 3 were signed? Szob, Grav and Alexis no?
Keep fudging the facts to peddle the rhetoric!
18.) 20 Mar 2025 13:24:43
So its 3 signings for the 1st 11 in 4 windows then RedQ? For a team that had finished 5th the previous season.
19.) 20 Mar 2025 13:38:25
Florian, Given that Darwin also signed in 2022 and Gakpo in 2023.
In the last 3 years we have replaced, or looked to replace more than half the starting 11.
As i say stats can be moulded to your own rhetoric.
20.) 20 Mar 2025 14:34:28
But your going further and further back there, sure the original poster was bending the truth a bit but three signings for the 1st team in 4 windows isn't actually something to dance around the street about.
21.) 20 Mar 2025 16:26:09
@Musiala, I concur with you re: Salah and VVD and Im not dismissing them nor their input at all this season. Just to be clear, I want all 3 to stay and if Trent goes (which I think he will) then, I will gladly keep the other 2.
However since this is something I cannot control, I am resigned to losing both VVD and Salah as well. It is what it is. As for how good both have been this season (and to a lower extent Trent), I fully agree. Those two have been levels this season and I think Slot has actually made them even better, as if that was even possible before this season. Two of the most outstanding performers this season, IMO.
22.) 20 Mar 2025 19:56:18
RedQ - Nunez, Diaz, Gakpo, Dom, Macca, Grav, Endo all came through the academy.
02 Jan 2023 20:50:03
We need midfielders now, not next summer.
No champions league, no midfielder worth his salt will want to come to us.
Time to sell FSG.
14 Apr 2022 15:41:52
Totally agree, he needs games, is England best CB when MATCH fit and can assist like Trent too and at one point was the fastest in the team. One hell of a player.
