🚨 Arne Slot on his future: "I'm mainly here for the short or mid-to-long-term, and mainly the Palace game".
"There are conversations about next season but my main focus is this season".
Things may be getting clearer it seems.
25 Apr 2026 07:05:51
Yet there were some on here dragging the ITKs on same subject matter. Why haven't we learned from history? It was the same with Rodgers, and it ended in celebration for me. I think I agree with ITKs. He will be gone. He doesn't even seem interested anymore.
25 Apr 2026 08:04:11
So Slot has given us every possible managerial option regarding his future. I remember how hopeful I was at the beginning of the season.
24 Apr 2026 23:04:19
Question for ed25.
What would you say of klopp now if he had been Everton manager for that spell.
If your honest- it will be good to hear.
{Ed025's Note - i have always had admiration and respect for him MLG as i have expressed from the time he came mate, if he had been our manager we would be the kings of Europe by now..not just the kings of Merseyside.. :)
25 Apr 2026 07:35:13
The phrase "can't polish a turd" comes to mind Ed. Klopp is a great manager but I think even he would struggle under Moshiri and the dross that was brought in during that period.
{Ed025's Note - you are right Drac, Moshiri never had a scooby mate and what looked like a good idea at the time turned out to be a bit of a disaster, but he did get the stadium built so i might just cut him a bit a bit of slack..
25 Apr 2026 09:14:44
Klopp, with the money you spent/wasted under Moshiri, unthinkable.
25 Apr 2026 09:18:31
I'm not an Everton fan ED25 but I do hold a soft spot for them in a way that I remember the old rivalry before it became a toxic cess pit thanks to "social media".
Having been to the new stadium though I was thoroughly impressed, one thing moshi right was getting this done. He may have completely screwed the team over but the new stadium is great and I love the location. Here's to Merseyside dominating the PL in the years to come.
{Ed025's Note - that would be great RTSM but we are still a way off at the moment mate..
25 Apr 2026 09:46:19
A Stadium ed25!! that is a sardine can one step away from Birkenhead and they are supposed to be building a ferry terminal right out side your ground for the boys from north wales and Birkenhead so really you are a woolly back club. 👍
{Ed025's Note - we welcome all supporters Albey because we are global mate, the ground is magnificent and if you were not such a bitter red you would admit that..
25 Apr 2026 10:28:48
Klopp wouldn't have been able to save your lot, Ed. The rot within your club runs deep. Decades deep, sadly.
{Ed025's Note - but he turned your lot around Oli and you were a basket case before he came in mate, we have been poor for a number of years thats true but it was never going to be a quick fix and i belive we are heading in the right direction..
24 Apr 2026 21:44:39
Just watching the Sunderland vs Forest... what’s people’s view on Ballard? He looks a decent young defender.
24 Apr 2026 22:25:33
Yep, I think so too, any time I have seen him he was impressive imo.
24 Apr 2026 22:44:27
Looks very good when sitting back defending crosses. Foreheads like a magnet to the ball. Does he have the pace for a team that would want to play a high line? Haven't watched loads of the Mackems.
25 Apr 2026 09:48:52
Ballard is an Ex Arsenal player, so should be good at corners and dead ball kicks, that's all they practise all day and every day.
25 Apr 2026 11:33:45
Couldn't help meself Florian, no offence mate, just a bit of banter, must admit I still have a 16 year old sense of humour at times. Ed's obviously didn't like that one, apologies lads, didn't mean to cross a line, I'll keep it PG in future
24 Apr 2026 21:42:05
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new player profile about, Andy Robertson
24 Apr 2026 21:50:43
Great post Ed, agree with everything, the last sentence sums him up perfectly, absolute legend for LFC.
24 Apr 2026 22:09:44
As a proud Scot, it's been a great time to watch Robbo play so well and achieve all he has, be sad to see him go.
25 Apr 2026 01:00:27
That actually made me quite emotional. Definitely the top LB in the world for a good few seasons, a Liverpool and Scotland legend, and still just comes across as a wee Glasgow punter.
Will be sorely missed.
24 Apr 2026 22:10:29
Good work ed. I have loved watching Robertson over years, proper legend. Sadly it's right to for him to leave. I can remember when we signed Grav, gakpo and vvd were with him and Robertson said something like "finally signed a good Dutch player" haha
{Ed001's Note - his personality shone through it must be said.}
24 Apr 2026 22:24:15
Great read Ed. Thanks
24 Apr 2026 22:26:43
Great post ed.
24 Apr 2026 22:31:29
"And amongst the best left backs to have ever put on the shirt." On The Money. Just a perfect description. Excellent analysis and read ED01. Moving actually!
24 Apr 2026 22:40:27
ED001 great review of a great defender, loved Robbo, played the game how it should be, my only criticism of him was one you mentioned, and that was not stopping crosses coming in but a 9/10 player
24 Apr 2026 23:36:17
What a player, so glad he is ours. Always will be.
Thanks for the write up Ed1. Honest and no sugar coating. Just how Robbo would like it.
24 Apr 2026 23:37:01
Brilliant review, Ed. I remember when Mourinho said he was tired just watching Robertson, quite a compliment but it felt sincere. I was even more convinced after I saw him live the first time.
It was a game against Watford, I think maybe 2018. Much more than the work though, I was bang in line for his assist to Salah. The curve on that cross was exquisite.
Another one down, a big one. Two more to go. Wish that team could have gone on forever.
25 Apr 2026 06:50:19
Great player, maybe we will see him back in the dugout some day.
25 Apr 2026 08:54:02
Pure club legend, a lot of great memories, but the press against Citah and his winding up of the Barca players was absolutely class.
25 Apr 2026 10:00:48
Thank you edd 1 that is a tremendous post on Robbo you have been spot on he is a hard working player who earned his wages every game and as the history of Liverpool Football Club has shown we have always had Scots at the club they have been the back bone of our club from day one long may that continue.
I wish only the best for Robbo and his future and hope that one day he returns as a coach with our club.YNWA
25 Apr 2026 11:14:09
I've never been more wrong about a player than Robbo. When we signed him I thought he be a flop, couldn't have envisaged how well he turned out to be for us. Wonderful player and person.
24 Apr 2026 19:23:05
Genuine question as I'm not that astute.
I know we have injury prone rbs, but why would we want to add another one?
Presumably Frimpong isn't leaving and I haven't seen anything about Bradley.
Feels like this shouldn't be the priority when we are losing a bunch of senior players and desperately need a cm.
24 Apr 2026 19:57:20
Is there a 3rd "injury-prone" rb we are trying to add?
24 Apr 2026 20:06:27
Watching the wrong Bradley lad. He's going to be best rb in Europe.
24 Apr 2026 21:05:52
Dumfries isn't what I'd describe as injury prone. He had an unfortunate ankle injury this season which needed surgery. However, in his time at Inter, he's made 45, 51, 36 and 47 appearances. This season, he'll probably end up on 29 appearances despite having ankle surgery. He plays a lot of games every season.
Within weeks of coming back from his ankle injury, he's now playing 90 minutes week in week out again.
It just feels like a throwaway statement to call him injury prone off the back of one unlucky season. Takes very little effort to google his availability history.
24 Apr 2026 21:19:27
Think this has been lost in translation here. I was referring to our RBS, not him. I'm just wondering why we want to be overloaded in that position.
You're a joy, aren't you, MK.
24 Apr 2026 21:34:31
We are not overloaded in that position, as Bradley is our only right back, as Frimpong is more of a right winger, so getting in Denzel Dumfries makes sense, and will add a bit of steel to our defence until we can get Bradley up & running again.
24 Apr 2026 21:39:15
Appreciate it, Racey. I love football but haven't got the foggiest about these things or positions so to me didn't make sense until it was explained, hence why I thought I would ask ahah.
24 Apr 2026 21:51:31
MK, he's had a horrendous injury for a player of his age. He's not going to recover well from it and, at his age, it's just going to get worse. Particularly in a rougher, quicker league. He'll be 31 next season, which makes him a hard pass. I remember how rubbish Maicon was, he's in a similar vein.
24 Apr 2026 21:52:59
Hopefully their injuries all occur at different times, so there's always one fit.
24 Apr 2026 22:47:34
Dumfries has always looked good going forward. Was flying a coupla years ago in fairness. Never totally convinced with him defensively though.
24 Apr 2026 23:03:02
A semi decent offer for Bradley and I'd let him go. Injuries are destroying the lad. He'll end out with a decent career but we as fans big him up too much. He'll Be the next nico Williams. People won't like this but a non Liverpool supporting ed will probably tell you a more honest opinion over what we think.
{Ed025's Note - i can do that for you Jerry...hes just not very good mate and yes he has been unlucky with injuries but i have a feeling his next job will be working with Thierno Barry at McDonalds.. :)
24 Apr 2026 23:43:34
I think Szoboszlai secretly loves playing right back and causing all these injuries somehow. Doesn't matter who we sign, Dom will make appearances there.
25 Apr 2026 01:33:57
Bit left field, but I'd go for Josh Acheampong, really impressed me every time I've seen him; big, strong, faster than he looks, decent ball control, English, not really playing at Chelsea, seems to have good positional sense too.
I think English football is really starting to lean towards really physical, well rounded fullbacks rather than the little techy failed winger types.
{Ed001's Note - I am sure he is a centre-back who just plays full-back to get him in the team.}
25 Apr 2026 05:20:10
But we are well stocked... What are you peeps on about?
Szobo is our best RB, and Jones is a very good understudy.
Bradley, Frimpong and Gomez can count their lucky stars, our midfield is so poor, otherwise Szobo would be our perm RB...
25 Apr 2026 00:00:20
Bradley is good ed.I'd have like to have seen him gain the experience of a good 50-60 game spell but his career so far has been derailed by injuries.Games like against Real show how good he could be but sadly i think he's always going to have these breaks in his career
{Ed025's Note - hes actually a decent player FM but his stop start career has held him back mate, i expect the club will move him on when a suitable replacement is found..
25 Apr 2026 10:06:15
30 years old with ankle troubles! Playing with fire there, I would not pay more than 10 million for Dumfries if I would not buy him, end of.
There are far better fullbacks around, younger, fitter and not injury prone. YNWA.
25 Apr 2026 10:17:09
He's not a very good RB FM. He's very rash, and isn't that good a defender. Mighty going forward, alright, and loves the tackle, but is virtually guaranteed a yellow card almost every game.
I'm just waiting for it any time he plays. But certainly very unlucky with injury which is hindering both mentally and physically. All that said I'd play him ahead of Frimpong any day of the week once fit.
25 Apr 2026 10:53:31
Lack of fitness > more injuries
25 Apr 2026 13:42:49
100% his future is at centre back, Tris, doesn't mean he isn't a better rb than our current options. Gvardiol's been playing left back for years now, and Arsenal field 4 cbs every week so it's not like it can't be done.
Personally I think it's embarrassing that we don't have a single English player in the squad that's good enough to start every week, so there's a million worse options out there than a 19 year old Englishman that can cover 2 positions.
24 Apr 2026 17:55:44
Do many remember Lucas Leiva taking a shot at goal which was way off target with no force, and Klopp was laughing his head off with the assistant at the time. Even Lucas had a grin after it. 😂😂
{Ed025's Note - was it worse than Beto,s effort in the first half last week Ron?..
24 Apr 2026 18:35:27
Merseyside Derby, Ron. Won 4-0.
24 Apr 2026 18:56:04
Believe it was in the derby too.
The one where Origi took that horrible tackle off Funes Mori and essentially missed the rest of the run in.
We battered them that day.
24 Apr 2026 18:30:40
I remember it well, also his goal when he goes round the keeper like a top class centre forward, can't remember the opposition!
Your a good striker away from being a very decent team ed
24 Apr 2026 19:28:48
Class memory.
Best one similar for me is when Milner got a bit miffed at being subbed for Jones?
Had a word with Klopp.
10 seconds later, Jones, I think, scored or set one up, and Milner burst out laughing as he ran to Klopp as they celebrated.
But the Lucas one was made funnier by the commentator saying something about has not scored for Liverpool in x games. Class.
24 Apr 2026 18:28:23
Ed025. The image just came into my mind of Klopp. It was hilarious. You need characters in the game. We have a lot of "coaches" With similar traits. What manager do you see on the sidelines now laugh their ass off at a player and in good jest? Zero.
I still miss him. 🫣
{Ed025's Note - i never seen it Ron but i can imagine it mate, i really liked Klopp and though he was a breath of fresh air, there does not seem to many characters in the game these days..but he was certainly one of them..
24 Apr 2026 18:40:14
Nearly went out for a throw in that one Ed
{Ed025's Note - we were all in the pub watching it Chewy and my red mates all burst out laughing, i just laughed along because i just could not believe my eyes mate.. :)
24 Apr 2026 19:59:51
I remeber that one. I laughed, as well because Lucas simply did not score goals. Lucas wasn't about that life, lol.
And yes, Ed25. Beto's was worse because it nearly went out for a throw in.
Don't blame me. You asked.
{Ed025's Note - my flabber was certainly ghasted Oli, it was like Roberto Carlos hitting a free kick with his boots on the wrong feet mate.. :)
24 Apr 2026 21:33:10
Reckon I'm suffering from The Mandela Effect...
I don't remember Lucas Leiva playing under Klopp... 🫣🫣🫣🫣
I remember him being referred to as Benitez's love child, and I honestly thought he left us during Rodgers time...
24 Apr 2026 22:50:33
And a goalie No.8, rb, lb, coupla centrehalves, a mf, two wingers and a forward. On the bright side, they have Dewsbury Hall to build around.
{Ed025's Note - we nearly need as many as your lot by the sounds of it FM..
24 Apr 2026 23:57:52
That was a great moment. The team were in full flow and playing with confidence against a fierce rival. I think that's why Klopp was so giddy. It only further proved the point when even Lucas Leiva was having a crack at goal.
He got more minutes under Klopp than most people would think, I think they worked together for nearly 2 full seasons. I remember he did a really good job filling in at CB during a couple of injury crises.
In his prime he was such a solid defensive midfielder, always ranked highly on interceptions and tackles per 90. A genuine asset to the team when fit, but unfortunately that was not regularly.
All the same, he showed excellent character to come through a tough start, with a lot of fans giving him stick. He left so loved that thousands of us would go out of their way to "influence" Lazio's player of the season awards.
25 Apr 2026 00:01:23
At least yis don't need a new manager, a DOF and a technical director ed😉
{Ed025's Note - some blues would disagree about the manager FM..
24 Apr 2026 15:31:08
Palace up next normally a bogy team but think we could sneak a 2-1 win i'm backing Isak and Wirtz to get one each.
Have a great weekend reds, Eds thanks for the platform to express/talk to other reds its great.
24 Apr 2026 16:23:05
We should be all over them, tbh. They have Europe to worry about. 3-1 to Liverpool.
24 Apr 2026 16:24:17
I'll take any kind of win.
24 Apr 2026 16:42:33
Last few wins should have built some confidence back. Konate has been better in the last few games, and Salah, Gakpo, and Gravenberch were much improved last week.
24 Apr 2026 18:17:03
I'll take that 3-1 as well, KP, and I actually fancy us to get results against Utd and Villa as well in the coming weeks.
24 Apr 2026 18:31:38
Guehi not playing, so we have a chance. 🤣🤣
24 Apr 2026 19:24:08
Up the f***!? Reds.
24 Apr 2026 19:43:51
Backwards season so reverse biggie?
24 Apr 2026 22:44:27
Good luck to whoever the Goalie is. Saying Alisson could be back for tomorrow, if not it's Freddie Woodman.
It would be something to get a win against Palace, 3rd straight W in the league.
Just what we need.
It's all we have to play for, so 5 cup finals ahead, let's see what the boys can do.
24 Apr 2026 22:51:40
Definite win.
24 Apr 2026 23:17:59
5 more wins in the bank. 👍
{Ed025's Note - you also forecast that you would beat PSG if im not mistaken Ron?...hardly Nostradamus are you mate.. :)
25 Apr 2026 00:13:18
Ron literally predicts we'll win every game. The bookies must make a fortune off him.
24 Apr 2026 13:56:33
Slot in pre match press for Palace. When asked where he is at when planning for next season:
"As I said so many times, I am mainly here for the short and mid to long term. But mainly my time is spent for the short term and that means Crystal Palace tomorrow. And of course there are conversations going on about next season. But my complete focus is and still should be this season ."
24 Apr 2026 14:17:45
Reading between the lines, he is preparing to not be here... Please God. 🙏
24 Apr 2026 14:36:43
"As I said so many times, I am mainly here for the short and mid to long term airport parking. But mainly my time is spent for the short term, and that means KLM flight to Holland tomorrow. And of course there are conversations going on about flights to Holland next season. But my complete focus is, and still should be, this seasons... flights."
24 Apr 2026 15:21:00
Slot only has a little over a year left on his contract. I think all options are open pending an end of season review.
24 Apr 2026 15:25:41
Word salad he's been on the dutch inhaler
24 Apr 2026 18:34:52
He must be Platinum by now with Flyingblue.
24 Apr 2026 20:04:47
Faith, sounds like a guy who knows there is a good chance he is out the door at season's end.
To me, it's like when a manager who is heavily linked with the sack and when asked keeps saying, "Like I said before, I have a contract with my club right now...".
24 Apr 2026 13:51:08
Not in the know, or anything like that, but is there any chance we have looked at Mika Godts? The guy looks absolute class and can play either wing. With Salah leaving, and a need for greater depth and/or quality in both wing positions, I feel like this guy would be an absolute master stroke.
Although, this will no doubt be the point when you say Arsenal, City and Real Madrid are after him already, so I will then call him overrated and a pointless signing that will get them nowhere. :P
24 Apr 2026 14:43:30
Looks very promising, but the jump from the Dutch league is probably huge! We probably let Brighton buy him and try getting him in 2 years time for 100 mil. 👌
24 Apr 2026 15:06:00
Got tbh never heard the name before.
24 Apr 2026 15:21:43
Ut, can he play RB Mango?
24 Apr 2026 16:24:37
He's a great talent. If you search his name and us, I think we have been scouting a lot of youngsters. Same with Kees Smit.
24 Apr 2026 18:41:05
You'd imagine Slot would have all the inside info, contacts and pull to get us the best of the Eredivisie young talent?
24 Apr 2026 20:05:48
Same here, SirBobby. Ain't ever heard of him.
24 Apr 2026 22:54:06
Would be one upside of Slot staying. Wasn't Smit at Alkmaar at the same time as Slot? I know he would have been a kiddie.
{Ed025's Note -another upside of Slot staying would be that you wont have to take them nude posters of him on your bedroom wall down FM.. :)
24 Apr 2026 23:20:01
Slot is scouting when he goes back. 😁
25 Apr 2026 00:33:47
Its more i'd like the thought of signing Smit ed.Although there is a poster or two but they're on the ceiling😆
25 Apr 2026 00:12:10
🤣🤣🤣 absolute cracker Ed
