Hi eds, any truth in the rumour that Rabiot is keen on signing a pre contract in January?

{Ed001's Note - I do not know what rumour you are referring to, as he has been linked with signing those with about 50 different teams.}

1.) 14 Aug 2018 09:28:13
Rumour that liverpool are interested in signing pre-agreement in jan. At least that's the headline I saw!

{Ed001's Note - over the last few months I have seen that same headline with about 20 different clubs in it.}

2.) 14 Aug 2018 11:57:47
I think we have had interest in the past per ed002. He has only gotten better so if he is available for a deal then maybe we would look. We would need to sell a midfielder though.

3.) 14 Aug 2018 12:15:53
Pre-contract agreement signed in Jan- or massive hike in wages to stay at PSG?

Bargaining tool.

25 Sep 2017 00:22:16
Hi ed001 wonder if you knew what the view from the club is of Curtis jones? I've seen him play bits and pieces this season and he looks to be a talent.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, I would have to ask.}

1.) 25 Sep 2017 07:20:04
Ed there teasing the arsenal fans saying they had a win in the champions league. Haha.

{Ed001's Note - ?}

2.) 25 Sep 2017 07:24:49
Wrong thread ed. Was ment to post on your match review.

{Ed001's Note - I realised that afterwards and amended the report to fix my error. I wasn't teasing, just getting old and prone to mistakes!}

3.) 25 Sep 2017 08:09:53
Ok thanks for the reply ed maybe mk can help I know he watches some of the academy games.

4.) 25 Sep 2017 08:43:54
RedWillis, he is a pretty quick attacker with a good eye for goal. Very tough to take the ball off him when he gets going. I've heard he is very highly rated. Jones, Dhanda and McAuley are all highly rated actually and depending on who you speak to, you'll get a different opinion on who is the best of the 3. Personally i think Jones is as he's the best on the ball of the 3 for me. They are all excellent in front of goal though.

These lads are very exciting. Gerrard has fallen on his feet to inherit an u18's team with so much attacking quality. The only issue they may have is where to go next. With Kent, Wilson, Brewster, Ojo, Solanke and Woodburn all ahead of them and barely older, they could struggle to keep progressing. It is unbelievable how much attacking talent we seem to be churning out in recent years. Although the likes of Ibe, Sterling, Solanke, Sinclair, Canos and Ojo were poached from other academies to be fair.

Would love to here from AG on Curtis Jones though. His view of the academy seems to have more inside knowledge than he let's on πŸ˜‰.

5.) 25 Sep 2017 09:23:43
Thanks mk. From what I've seen of him he looks terrific on the ball. Good technique. Fingers crossed that he keeps developing well. Scouser too which is nice to see. I'm v excited about Brewster he looks to be a great talent. I worry for Kent, Ojo and Wilson they all have a lot of talent this is a big season for them all. Fingers crossed Kent and Ojo make an impact on loan and Wilson keeps banging them for the u23's and gets a couple of chances in the first team but with salah and mane doing so well it will be hard to get starts for us.

6.) 25 Sep 2017 10:46:57
Welcome mate. I also worry for the 3 you mentioned. I see them all ending up in the Premier League, just not necessarily with us.

7.) 25 Sep 2017 10:57:51
For me I think CJ looks really good but still young and some way to go. Camacho in a similar bucket, think he'll be excellent in time. The young LB has also had some good games (think Adam Lewis converting there from midfield? )

Of those in the u23s I'd say Woodburn, Wilson are the obvious ones but Dhanda looks to be seriously stepping up (like a young Lallana type player but potentially better goal scoring/ set piece ability) and Brewster looks very exciting too. Brewster feels like he could be a young Sturridge type player given time, good on the ball, quick feet and short backlift, and pace to get in behind. Probably another couple of years away though.

The one that seems to be under the radar but playing really well is Matty Virtue. A real box to box player but a goal threat and has turned a few games recently with his energy in midfield and threat going forward. Another year and may be a threat to first team football.

Think we have lots of talent in attack coming through.

19 Sep 2017 21:27:19
Ron, help us out with something positive please mate.

1.) 19 Sep 2017 21:29:54
We can focus our efforts on winning the league and champions league double?

{Ed025's Note - great idea mate..

2.) 19 Sep 2017 21:32:07
You learn a lot more from your defeats than you do from your victories.
We'll win at the weekend 😎.

3.) 19 Sep 2017 21:45:09
You could be a blue!
Saturday is all that matters. unless you win it then going out now is a masterstroke!

4.) 19 Sep 2017 21:39:39
Without the egg cup to distract us then what can possibly stop us? Apart from city, united, Real Madrid, Barca, psg etc that is.

Next year?

{Ed025's Note - you tickle me 1jj..

5.) 19 Sep 2017 21:40:00
Positives? Ward looks very good. Woodburn has been sensational considering his age. Coutinho actually looked back to being a player who properly cares. Gomez has been better than the rest of the centre backs. Solanke did everything except score and will only improve at 19.

It hasn't even been a bad performance. Just another game where we have been the better team overall but quite simply didn't take our chances. And we had a striker on all game so it just goes to show we have an issue with the quality of our finishing as a team and somehow, Klopp needs to fix it. God knows how but that is why he gets paid a fortune.

6.) 19 Sep 2017 22:11:07
And when the powers that be give cups and league points for being the "better team", or for being "unlucky" or creating the "most chances" we will be able to fill the trophy cabinets again in Anfield 😜.

7.) 19 Sep 2017 21:59:39
Thanks mate. Taken the edge off. πŸ‘πŸ».

8.) 19 Sep 2017 22:03:42
Positivity? Ings, Solanke and Cou all playing and playing well. Ox did not have his best game but still very early. Wenger has been poo-pooing the EFL Cup for years and always plays his youngsters and gets hammered. He's still in a job, the last time I checked, right? We move on.

9.) 19 Sep 2017 22:13:16
I agree ward looked decent. Claimed a ball from a free kick right in the edge of the area which is why I'm guessing we're playing a high line at set pieces. Also kicked well. Over the half way line and to our team and didn't try anything fancy which is what we need ATM. No silly mistakes making people nervous. Woodburn showed some nice stuff when he came on. And solanke was a handful first half. Good Movement energy and pace. It's just hard to take a loss like that. First half we need to score simple as that. And second half we needed the midfield 3 to boss that and it didn't happen.

{Ed025's Note - fair points there willis..

10.) 19 Sep 2017 22:26:32
Spot on, MK BUT the doom and gloomers would prolly have huge probs grasping all the points you just made there as all they care about is moaning and moaning.

11.) 19 Sep 2017 22:38:40
Thing is that this is off the back of being humped by Man City and a flaccid performance against Burnley. It’s not going to get better with out defence and midfield.

12.) 19 Sep 2017 22:56:14
I was at the game and i thought the positives are ward robertson . solanke worked hard. coutinho did ok. the rest well average. could of done with ryan kent . abit of width. unsure of the ox not sure if he is good enough and were to play him. sooner spent the money on mahrez.

31 Aug 2017 16:49:49
Don't get me wrong I've been caught up in the hype of the last week or so. The way salah has fit straight In and contribute and looking like he has more in the locker. The qualification and the battering of Arsenal. The emergence of taa and Gomez. The signing of Keita will turn out to be a great bit of business. Top class that guy. Ox great for depth. Im pleased. The links with lemar and vvd exciting. But if we go through another window without buying a top class CB or GK then I'm baffled. I know we had one target. But there must be some other talent out there that's ready. We obviously have the money. I hope it doesn't haunt us again. Hoping for something still πŸ™πŸ».

07 May 2017 15:47:04
We struggle against bus parkers because we have no one that can cross a ball, no Ariel threat and no one that can take a corner this really needs to change for next season or it will be more of the same. It all goes through the middle which is too tightly packed. Another frustrating game to watch but for two top class saves from Forster we'd have won that so it wasn't all as terrible as people are making out. Just not that good either. Can't always rely on some magic to win us those games we need another dimension.

1.) 07 May 2017 15:56:31
The simple facts are if we scored the penalty were all happy and jobs a goodun. How many times has Gerrard had the exact same pressure and scored time and time again? That's something I'll certainly be more appreciative of when I look back in the future. As against Watford, wba and stoke if we score the goal perfect but if not the manager has been outclassed and all his decisions were wrong etc etc. If we score and win the games perfect. We didn't score so it's a let down but that's the exact game everyone's been moaning we never play sometimes you don't score when you play defensive.

2.) 07 May 2017 15:56:49
Agree, but I will, say this. Once Sturridge came on we were attacking the goal more. In no way am I criticizing Origi I believe he's a player who will only get better but at times he seems to be following a script. He hasn't the same killer instinct Studge has. I believe a game like this needed Studge to start. I hope we keep him especially if we pull off top four. We need his ability in Europe.

3.) 07 May 2017 15:58:34
These games "Park the bus" or smaller teams have constantly exposed certain players. These games truly show a players quaility or lack of it because everything has to be a lot preciser. Relying on coutinho and Firminho won't always work.
Don't think cylne in particular enjoys these games at all.

4.) 07 May 2017 16:00:13
Has origi actually improved since he arrived?

5.) 07 May 2017 16:16:17
Well said Big Al. Too many workman like players in midfield bar Coutinho. We need two full backs who can cross the ball, a creative midfielder, a winger and a goalscorer in the summer. If Klopp does not sort these positions out, then FSG should find a manager who actually can tell the difference between an average and a quality player.

6.) 07 May 2017 16:34:26
No he has not improved at all. Last season he showed signs but he had been worse this season. Time to move him on. Liverpool can't wait for him and can't keep on building. Time to win something and stop these heart attacking results.

7.) 07 May 2017 16:36:31
Thing is, we have become kinda predictable in our approach, and the only teams who will allow our team to play the way Klopp wants them to are teams who think they can go head to head and outscore us. Klopp needs to get used to teams using the parking the bus and counter attack tactic, and find a way of still being effective and getting something out of a game still. Saying at the end of the game that it's difficult to play against ten defenders is useless, that's the whole point of parking the bus! I don't know a team that struggles against this as much as us, Klopp needs an effective plan B. I don't think it's down to managerial ineptitude, more stubbornness. He needs to learn from Brendan's mistakes, maybe we would have won the league if Brendan had been more tactically flexible?

8.) 07 May 2017 16:57:15
Origi doesn't seem in tune with firmino and couts sturridge has a good footballing brain even if his legs have gone a bit and is able to interchange and make more space for others better.

9.) 07 May 2017 17:06:04
So Gerrard never missed a penalty?

10.) 07 May 2017 18:06:45
You should be critising origi though.

Hes up front for liverpool and what's he done.

You look around and similar players who are much younger than him putting it much better performancea.

Mbappe, rashford to name 2. he's got everyrhing they have so there's no excuse.

Hea needs to stop thinking he's made it and start performing as if the summer transfer window is close. oh wait.

11.) 07 May 2017 18:26:43
He's a young lad and will have ups and downs for the next few seasons.

I don't think the team is set up to play to his strengths.
How many times has he got the ball out wide with his back to goal whereas he should be in the middle being supplied by DECENT crosses.

Suarez could get the ball in them wide areas and turn and head for the goal maybe winning a pen on the way.

But he is a world class performer despite his many faults.

12.) 07 May 2017 19:18:37
Redwillis, if we had an Ariel threat we'd need Puck down the wing as well. They wouldn't do too well in the winter months though. They are only suited to summer evening games. ;-)

13.) 07 May 2017 19:29:54
I can't believe some people still think Origi would make it up. He is an extremely lucky chap getting chances after chances at the expense of either Danny or a youngster from the academy. He is average at best!

14.) 07 May 2017 21:41:18
Those criticizing Origi should go watch the game again, this time with their anti-Origi blinkers off. What striker would have done much better being left on his own in the midst of 6/ 7 defenders with no support from the flanks nor from the middle? He had no wingers that could get behind the defence nor did our FB's have any quality in their crosses. Is the fact that Mane was injured and our FB's can't cross a ball to save their lives, Origi's fault? And what did Studge do when he came on? He still struggled like the whole team did so what would have changed? NOTHING.

Origi is very talented and has shown what he can do when on form (hes still scored 10 goals and a bunch of assists despite playing minimal minutes this season) so next season, he will be here and you all will get over it.

15.) 07 May 2017 23:13:07
N Red, The striker you're looking for is Studge.

If Phil leaves (please don't leave) then it will be terrible for us. We still have lallana for that position. Though we lose goals then. Or Firmino but then I'd say we need another striker unless studge stays fit. I'd like to see us go back in for Coric who I think is probably the closest in style of play to Phil that we could attract and get. Though this may hold back Woodburn. What a conundrum.

Bryant he is at a higher level than gini can and lallana imo already and he's only 22. I don't understand how you think our cm is the strongest in the league? And baz he's not the same as coutinho at all. If he keeps progressing at the rate he has been he could be one of the best cms in the world and for another 10 years too. 2nd most dribbles in bundesliga 6th most tackles 6th most interceptions 8 goals 8 assists. He does everything. At 22! I'm really excited πŸ˜‚ I hope we get him πŸ™πŸ».

Malcom is rapid and skilful a lot like mane not sure of his end product. He seems to play on the right but be left footed. Maybe klopp thinks he can convert him to play on the left or maybe he may switch mane left Malcom right so they both cut in and allow the hopefully new attacking full backs space out wide?

There's no excuse for fans fighting in football these days. It's sad to watch grown men probably with kids going out and doing this. I hear this was a pre arranged thing and there's pictures showing it was the guy who got slashed's blade in the first place he dropped it and the mil wall fan took it and slashed him. So I don't think Everton should get away with their part in this.

{Ed025's Note - you seem to hear a lot of things willis but validating things like this is nigh impossible, stories get embellished and guys like you believe everything you hear and whether it is true or not does not seem to make the slightest difference, its all tittle tattle until the true facts are exposed mate..

I agree with drogie. If we win the league/ champions league this season. (One can only dream) then players won't want to leave and top players won't mind being rotated. I think it's a season too early to expect Werner to come and be back up or rotated. Maybe next season if all goes according to dream haha. I agree tho cover for the front 3 would be nice but hopefully Wilson or Brewster can provide that going forward.

I'd like us to look at David brooks. Ed what's your opinion of him? He looks like a clever player to me. Makes good runs with and without the ball. Makes me think of him as a possible Firmino understudy. I'd like to give Brewster and Wilson a chance next season and maybe offload Divock and Solanke. I'll be sad to lose Origi but I just don't see it working for him here.

{Ed001's Note - good player but he needs to play regularly and gain experience not sit on our bench.}

Last season we won possession high up the pitch due to the press. So when we/ Bobby won it we only needed one pass to create a chance. But this approach also left us exposed at the back because the press left holes. The new approach is working in the league but not so much in Europe. European teams aren't used to getting rushed like we did to them last season so it worked. So somehow we need to be able to play the more stable new way in the league and the last season way in Europe in my opinion.
