Lets hope Roberston is our first choice now, so much going for him including his ability to put cracking balls into the box,

Believable13 Unbelievable8

02 Dec 2017 22:11:54
KKN, Why would Robbo be first choice now? He only played cos Moreno got a blow and NOT cos he has been poor cos bar Sevilla, he has been very good for us. That may be your opinion BUT you will have to hope that Robbo can dislodge Moreno cos you can't lose your starting position cos you got a game off.

02 Dec 2017 23:11:01
BRover, simply because he is a better player.

02 Dec 2017 23:17:51
KKN i'm a fan of Robertston, and IMO he probably is a better player than Moreno. However I don't think he has shown enough to dislodge Moreno this season, except the game against Sevilla Moreno has largely impressed me especially his attitude to keep fighting for a starting place. He seems like a great guy to have in the dressing room too.

02 Dec 2017 23:23:40
I actually thought Robertson was pretty poor today. Not played in a while though so shouldn’t expect to much.

02 Dec 2017 23:28:27
Moreno suffers from fans' preconceived opinions on him that, fairly enough, have been built up over a couple seasons.

But objectively and forgetting previous seasons, moreno has been fine.

02 Dec 2017 23:36:53
He deserves a run of games to prove what he can do, he hasn't that, and until then judgement can't be made.

02 Dec 2017 23:47:01
Saw nothing special in Robertson's performance myself today to be honest. very average o the ball.

would love to see Moreno in this formation with gomez hehind. Would suit him to the ground.

Looks promising this formation. Suits a lot of our players.

03 Dec 2017 03:58:51
Robertson was Ok. Nothing special. Why do people look up to him as our saviour I will never know. Moreno will be back in the team for Spartak and deservedly so.

03 Dec 2017 03:12:58
"including his ability to put cracking balls into the box" haha.

03 Dec 2017 07:08:41
I watch Moreno live every other week or so when we have a home game, Going forward, his link up play has improved but defensive wise, there’s a reason why teams still target our left side.

As well a CB’s we need a quaulity LB too. IMO

Also, the Arsenal/ Man U game proved just how important it is to have a quality keeper.

Another great away result again lads!

03 Dec 2017 07:49:23
Moreno lovern and minolet are always 1 game from a meltdown what I mean by that is every time you start to get confidence in them there's a disaster of a game waiting to happen and it usually in big games e. g. spurs and seville twice.

03 Dec 2017 09:42:18
Robertson did not have much of a look in today, the team was not as confident in him as Moreno. He did not do much wrong yet he did not do anything special to win the spot, like the lad and he did well enough yesterday but he did not take his chance. TAA certainly keeps Gomes on his toes.

02 Dec 2017 19:53:13
Hi Ed's. What's your opinion of Justin Kluivert at Ajax? Don't spose there's anyway Ajax would sell at this stage of his development but is he generally considered a major prospect?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes, he is very highly rated, but they are not looking to sell him yet.}

02 Dec 2017 20:23:17
Its probably in his best interests to stop at Ajax aswell for the foreseeable future, moving anywhere else at the moment would probably ruin his development.

02 Dec 2017 21:18:31
If he keeps his head screwed on and stays at Ajax for 3/ 4 years he could be top notch.

02 Dec 2017 22:55:46
I live in Amsterdam and this guy is really well thought of here, think the fans would riot if Ajax sold him.

02 Dec 2017 19:42:41
Question for ed001 do you think we will try to bring in a centre back in January still talk of vvd ( I think it's unlikely he will come in) what do u think edds and do you think there may be other signings. I think we will see athe least a couple leave coutinho and sturridge my opinion think we desperate for a quality centre back.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes we will try.}

02 Dec 2017 20:06:20
There is no try, we simply have to, not only are our centre backs not very good but they're also injured all of the time!

02 Dec 2017 20:53:47
If de vrij is still a target perhaps Lazio will look to do a deal in January rather than lose on a free. If not and we look to sign a pre contract then we really need to get someone in during January. Yes we will pay a premium but if we can shore up at the back and carry on with our attacking play we should be able to secure a good top 4 finish.

{Ed0333's Note - De Vrij recently signed a new contract with Lazio with a moderate buy out clause.

02 Dec 2017 21:06:11
Ah thanks Ed, I’d missed that he’d signed a new deal.

{Ed0333's Note - No worries mate. I think the buy out clause is circa 26 million. So pretty affordable for a player with his skill set.

02 Dec 2017 22:01:13
Ed0333 like you say seems reasonable that for a decent cb but correct me if am wrong here, am sure ave read ed02 say before when it comes to English clubs buying from abroad to forget about buy out clauses.

{Ed0333's Note - I have to be honest mate I have no idea about the legality and validity of buy out clauses that’s a question for Ed’s 002.

02 Dec 2017 22:33:33
good one Ed, De Vrij would prob be a better bet, and I hope that we sign him .

02 Dec 2017 20:31:24
Ed01 a watched the Dortmund game today and Leverkusen had a cb, tah a think his name was. I don't really watch many games outside of England but he seemed decent, have you watched much of him if yes what do you think of him? Like a say first time a seen him and anybody is capable of one good game.

{Ed001's Note - the lad is one of the biggest names in football. He was being called 'the future of German defending'. He is still a kid and so is inconsistent, but the talent is there. Excellent player, just needs to iron out the inconsistencies with experience.}

02 Dec 2017 22:13:04
Do you rate De Vrij, Ed01 and/ or Ed333?

{Ed001's Note - he is a decent defender, bit on the slow side but the big issue is that he is injured a lot which would not make him someone I rate for Liverpool. There are already 3 injury prone centre backs and one who has only recently come back from a long term injury. Last thing we need is someone else unreliable.}

03 Dec 2017 04:02:38
I rate De Vrij personally. Yes he is injury prone but damn that guy can defend. Yes he is slow as well but his positioning and reading of the game is very good. If he cures his injury problems, would be a brilliant signing by us.
And Ed333, I think De Vrij has a nominal termination clause that any team in or outside Serie A can activate. Will be much lower than 26 million euros for sure. Somewhere between 10-15 million.

{Ed0333's Note - As I say mate I have no knowledge of such things. But I remember reading the buy out clause was around 26 million but I stand corrected.

02 Dec 2017 19:17:09
what would everyone think of playing gomez right cb, lovren left cb, can in the middle to bring the ball out, let trent an moreno be wingbacks, have hendo lallana/ gini with the energy in the middle then a from three of mane/ salah, bobby/ couts?

it allows our front 3 to stay high as the back 5 will help the 2 cms win the ball back, plus we'd have more width without worrying about being exposed on the counter.

Believable3 Unbelievable6

02 Dec 2017 22:16:49
Not for me. Still like the hybrid 4 at the back which can be a 3 when Gomez plays RB. Klopp only played this system due to injuries and personel issues. We simply do not have the right personnel to play it cos our CB's bar Gomez cannot defend in wide areas whichh is what you need cos at Chelsea, Azpi was a fullback turned CB and so were Toby, Vertonghen and Dier. This allows them the ability to defend in space cos you are required to do that as a fullback. We don't have such players.

02 Dec 2017 23:39:57
If we do three at the back, the two either side need more pace and ability on the ball, and the middle to be an organiser. Playing In a three it is easy to lose markers as you think someone will be there. Lovren and matip are not leaders. Maybe can could play left centre half and Gomez right, if someone came in in Jan.

02 Dec 2017 18:50:45
Those fans calling for a 20+ goal a season striker look no further! Roberto firmino 11 goals and December has only started.
What more do you want the guy to do?

Believable9 Unbelievable0

{Ed0333's Note - Improve his goal celebrations

02 Dec 2017 19:03:06
Perhaps the goalscoring striker can replace Sturridge as our backup.

02 Dec 2017 19:55:11
exactly jayden struddige is a passenger now and we either need to replace him or give minutes to Solanke or Ings and let them prove thier worth. when we guys were asking for a 20goal striker it was as a option to Bobby who can come at 75 min and score a goal. as i feel its good to have different option than Bobby.

02 Dec 2017 20:17:45
WE have solanke! What goal scorer isn’t going going to come Liverpool and play a rotation role? We don’t need goalscorers we have a variety over the squad we need to sure up the other end of the pitch.

02 Dec 2017 20:29:55
Going into a season with only 2 strikers is risky. And lately Klopp has shaken up the squad and formation. 442 with no natural striker replacement on the bench would be asking for trouble. Plus Solanke is still unproven in this league.

02 Dec 2017 22:19:46
We score goals for fun and have been since Klopp got here and that is STILL the case till this day. To me, the matter is is done. Oh and by the way, Spurs have a goalscorer in Kane, great player. Can someone pls, remind me how they are currently doing?

02 Dec 2017 22:54:56
They still haven't won a premier league like us BR.

02 Dec 2017 23:41:56
Salah had played centrally, as can mane, firmino obviously, sturridge and solanke, and Ings if needed. Plus Origi is on loan - I think sturridge will leave and solanke and Origi will play back up next season.

02 Dec 2017 18:46:35
Haha brilliant Ed33.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

02 Dec 2017 18:38:28
If we had a proper striker instead of Firmino, we could've won 1-6.

Believable17 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - it is such a shame Bobby can't score....}

02 Dec 2017 18:47:01
Massive shame 😂.

02 Dec 2017 18:47:45
Bobby is boss. Those who don't get it never will.

02 Dec 2017 18:50:56
Mk I bet you were calling for Rooney to get an England recall after his midweek hat trick 😂. But Credit where credit is due Firminho took both chances very well today. However I think we will need a new striker as it's likely that Sturridge, Origi and Ings will leave in the next couple of windows and if we get a striker it might as well be a goal scoring 1 even if he is just a plan B behind Firminho.

{Ed0333's Note - I think most clubs look to buy a goal scoring striker Jayden.

02 Dec 2017 19:47:32
Solanke and Brewster?

02 Dec 2017 19:58:45
It's like Solanke doesn't exist to some people Redwillis 😂.

02 Dec 2017 20:10:06
Correct me if am wrong I didn't realise Liverpool had signed a new player, who the hell is this firminho? A hope he turns out just as good as firmino might stop the posters on here asking for a 20goal a season striker.

02 Dec 2017 20:33:56
Picking up someone's spelling (auto correct changed it) whilst making grammar errors yourself 🤦🏻‍♂.

02 Dec 2017 20:39:13
You must be including Klopp in the people have forgotten about Solanke comment Mk because up until Stoke, he had only played 84 minutes of premier league football for us. I thought he played extremely well on Wed and I look forward to seeing more of him.

02 Dec 2017 20:50:42
Ohhh a better work one my humour, sorry fella no need to cry. Am only messing about.

02 Dec 2017 21:02:54
It’s his first season Jayden and Firmino is undroppable atm and fit and I think Klopp wanted to give studge a last chance to see if he’s still got something to offer which so far it doesn’t seem like he does. I think studge will go and Solanke will be getting the chances the studge does with Brewster hopefully continuing to progress in the u23’s and eventually knocking on the door.

02 Dec 2017 22:27:33
Origi won't be leaving, IMO. Ed01 in the summer, said that Klopp was and still is high on Origi and with good reason. You will NOT find a third choice striker with 22 goals in two seasons in his locker, in the PL. No way.

Ed01 explained that the idea was that they thought Studge would leave so Origi would take his place behind Bobbie with Solanke behind him. Studge did not go and Origi is too good to be on the bench behind a guy who many believe is past it and cos the WC was coming, he had to go on loan.

And unlike Solanke who is a teenager and a rookie, Origi is an established international player and needs to be in the WC and will be there so he needed to leave to get games. Can't say the same for Solanke who can still bide his time. I hope Origi does well at Wolfsburg so he can come back stronger and better cos IMO, Studge won't be here next season.

02 Dec 2017 18:30:46
what is up with Lovren's inability to deal with any sort of ball crossed into the box today? Half the time it looks like he doesn't even attempt to challenge for the ball.

Red Sandman.

Believable0 Unbelievable7

02 Dec 2017 18:52:08
Why are you referencing Lovrens inability to defend to just today. It has been the same story since he signed.

02 Dec 2017 19:37:26
Why not concentrate on the 5 goals at the other end and not try to find a negative amongst a good day for us?

02 Dec 2017 20:13:39
Well said Welsh red. I had very same conversation after stoke game. Say they are fans yet after 5.1 win away from home come on to pick fault with no mention of all the good things we clearly did today! And while on about lovren on a few occasions today he covered for can and gini with good reading of the game. oops forgot we only mention bad things!

02 Dec 2017 22:30:19
OP, I don't see your point. Lovren was brilliant vs Crouch at Stoke and was very good again today vs Brighton as it seems he has come back stronger after the Spurs debacle. You seem to be scratching the bottom of the barrel to find something to moan about re Lovren. We won 5-1 at a place where they don't lose nor concede BUT hey, you had to have a moan about something so have at it, bro.

03 Dec 2017 07:35:47
I do not see why we have to concentrate on the 5 scored goals. If you have some good achievements up front with scoring goal, it doen’t mean that you have to forget your biggest problem - the Defence. If we/ Klopp think like you want, we will never win the league and that's for sure. No body will remember 2 wins with 5 goals when you haven't brought the trophy.

03 Dec 2017 09:58:20
We conceded 1 goal. a harsh penalty. what’s your point? Teams will get chances, that’s what football is about and the man between the sticks did what he’s there to do yesterday. keep the ball out the net.

02 Dec 2017 18:26:25
Robertson did decent and a good assist as well.

Would prefer him to Moreno akways.

Thought Couts does not trust him as much as moreno and did not pass to him when he was in a good position.

Couts was looking jaded via body language and no real interest to be here but still got 2 goals.

wij was rusty maybe due to position but we could have made subs earlier or had AOC or Grujic instead of Milner.

Cheers.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

{Ed0333's Note - On the contarary i thought our lad from Brazil’s body language was pretty positive today mate.

02 Dec 2017 18:46:47
I Thought Couts was very good, they couldn’t handle him at all and resorted to clipping his heels, ultimately he had the last laugh by rolling the ball under the jumping wall.

Whether he wants to leave or not he still played well today.

Agree with Milner though, the lad is hopeless and seems to of been replaced by Wijnaldum as the utility player.

02 Dec 2017 21:22:51
Makes you wonder if their has been progress on his move.

02 Dec 2017 16:55:25
Showing great consistency against the lower sides this year which is pleasing to see we've struggled at teams below us for many years now and it's good to see we're slowly turning that corner. 🔴🔴🔴.

Believable12 Unbelievable1

02 Dec 2017 17:12:37
Yes but 2nd place and 3rd place are also winning relentlessly.

02 Dec 2017 17:53:37
When I saw today's side I was a little worried we were underestimating Brighton but they were terrible. However You can only beat what is in front of you and we are in a great run of form. Just need to finish off the group stages this week with a win and hopefully continue this form. Yes we will lose again this season but as long as we avoid last seasons 3 month slump then that should be back to back CL qualification seasons. Next step is to actually put in a title challenge then.

02 Dec 2017 18:10:36
We have now scored 3 or more goals in 8 of our last 10 matches. Now that is some stat. And I for one have beaten the drum in the past for us to sign a goalscoring centre forward. 8 of those 10 games are proving me wrong.

02 Dec 2017 17:27:11
Yeah typical ain’t it😑. Main thing is to carry on doing our thing and see what comes of it bro.

02 Dec 2017 19:38:51
Maybe we've had our 3 month slump?

02 Dec 2017 22:37:14
Klopp does not underestimate the oppo. He simply will not allow that. I was not worried about the lineup as we all knew we had personel issues at the back BUT I only found out that Gomez had to be scratched right before the game so I was surprised. But Klopp played a blinder there by making sure the defence had decent cover and played a very potent front 3 to keep Brighton honest and not think of going at the back 3 w/ o suffering the repercussions.

All in all, we are improving and dispatching the lower teams who are being thumped regardless of if they park the bus or not. That is the pleasing thing to me. A title challenge? That is the next step BUT there are still holes to plug in this team and till that happens, a title challenge is still a ways off.

Premier League Match Preview Saturday 2nd December 2017

02 Dec 2017 05:56:21
{Ed's Note - we have posted a new article entitled, Premier League Match Preview Saturday 2nd December 2017

Believable1 Unbelievable2

02 Dec 2017 04:53:38
Firmino say he started as defender. Can he deputise as centre back this period?

Believable0 Unbelievable5

02 Dec 2017 05:09:05
Gomez will fill in for Matip while Milner moves to rotate with TAA for right back position. That aside, we need a CB coming in on 1st Jan itself. The people in charge of transfers at LFC need to wake the hell up and go after Klopp's targets now. Whether its VVD, DE Vrij or someone else.

02 Dec 2017 06:01:06
Gomes will stay at RB unless there is an emergency. You are just bluffing indian. He is not moving anywhere. It will be Klavan and Lovren at the back!

02 Dec 2017 07:10:55
But Klavan and Lovren surely cannot play 9 matches during this punishing period?

02 Dec 2017 08:22:16
We would all love to see Gomez cb and TAA rb but agree that he will go with klaven and lovern at cb. Would be shocked if he went with Gomez at cb even tho he is better than any defender at the club in that position . Big game today hopefully 3 points good performance and couple of the teams above us to drop points. Been I'm good form since the spurs defeat let's keep it going.

02 Dec 2017 08:47:36
Yo Harry, Klavan and Lovren ain't staying fit for all 9 games in a row. Gomez will play CB at some point this month and we may even see Masterson called up to the senior squad.

02 Dec 2017 09:28:01
Klavan and Lovren. Football’s answer to the Chuckle Brothers.

02 Dec 2017 10:38:38
Latest news is both matip and Klavan injured. So this crucial period we down to only 2 CBs we have - Lovren and Gomez. And if one of them gets injured which is very likely, then?

{Ed001's Note - how many CBs do you think the club should have on its books then? 10? 15? There is a youth squad for injury cover, stop moaning and be glad a youngster might get a chance to show how good he is.}

02 Dec 2017 10:51:47
ED, just out of curiosity as I don’t get time to see what is happening beyond the first team, if Gomez wasn’t bought in, who would we potentially be looking at today at CB cover from the youth set up. Is there anybody currently knocking on the door?

Regards.

{Ed002's Note - You don't even need to look to the Youth - Lloyd Joes is still with the U23s.}

02 Dec 2017 10:57:36
This could be a blessing in disguise. I think we all agree that Matip, Klavan and Lovren are not good enough. The fact that 2 of them are reportedly injured will now force Klopps hand into either Gomez or a youngster going there with both having a massive point to prove. For me you could stick a traffic cone there and they would put up a similar resistance to what them 3 do anyway. However we could park 5 buses in front of our goal and Mignolet would still find a way to concede.

02 Dec 2017 12:20:50
Have we ever tried tapping up Thomas kalas, sorry I mean speaking to Chelsea about his availability once his loan from Fulham is over?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

02 Dec 2017 13:38:17
Can and Lovern will be CB's today.

02 Dec 2017 14:09:32
I was worried about that happening, hope can is committed an on it today.

02 Dec 2017 15:08:30
If you reach the point of putting Wijnaldum at center back, surely it's worth bringing in Jones or Masterson?

02 Dec 2017 15:58:25
lol Wijnaldum is definitely not comfortable playing there. can has experience but doesn't want to be a center back ethier but if he ain't signing, might as well.

02 Dec 2017 17:57:59
So glad my fears were wrong an can even scored, didn't see that coming wijnaldum at the back, this period we having without defenders really annoying shudnt b like that we should have cover, hope klopp gets some defensive cover in Jan transfer window.
