What is going on with Soton reporting us? Anybody heard anything on the details? Are we in the wrong?

Red Sandman.

Red Sandman

{Ed025's Note - according to radio solent..

1.) 06 Jun 2017 12:45:50
Not to excuse Liverpool if they actually have gotten this wrong (and hopefully if they did it's a genuine mistake and resolvable rather than arrogance or outright incompetence) however I do think the whole system is flawed.

In what kind of world is speaking to a players agent not effectively speaking to the player themselves? It should be black and white IMO. without permission from the club there should be no communication with players or the players agent to discuss a possible transfer under any circumstances.

2.) 06 Jun 2017 13:01:08
Soton) probably favour a man city deal as it will offer more cash straight up. Our deal likely to feature more add ons and clauses. Let's hope the pony tailed warrior is set on liverpool. I think he is. That's why they're making a fuss though imo.

3.) 06 Jun 2017 15:04:22
Exactly, Jonny. Remember, his agent came to us. We did not go to him meaning, VVD has his mind set on playing for LFC. To me, this is a ploy to send VVD to City against his wish cos they obviously want the money.

They don't want to sell to us cos a) they don't like us and b) they want more money from City who like Chelsea, spoke to him as well via Pep and Conte but the Saints are clearly fine with that.

Now if we did anything wrong which I doubt then we need to take whatever punishment we get and assume that the VVD deal is dead. And if we didn't then Saints will be looking like desperate people who are just Salty cos VVD chose us which means less money for them.

4.) 06 Jun 2017 16:08:17
Can't work like that Zimbo. We'd have never bothered unless his agent sounded us out.
Also if we want say Moreno to go, we'd like his agent to see what's out there. Moreno isn't listed, not sure transfer list even exists anymore.

Also most clubs don't want to sell their players, not going to speak to anyone otherwise.

Ed025 this one goes out to you babes. What are your thoughts on potential new Liverpool CB Virgil Van Dijk? let's say Everton were in pole position to sign him, would you be happy?

Red Sandman.

Red Sandman

{Ed025's Note - over the moon to be honest sandman, some on here are going on about his weaknesses but if you look at his strengths he is quality, good in the air, tackles well, comfortable on the ball and gets the odd goal, whats not to like mate?..

1.) 05 Jun 2017 17:42:46
Babes? 😂.

{Ed025's Note - never underestimate bromance harry.. :)

2.) 05 Jun 2017 17:44:36
Every time I've watched him he was terrific and easily put the opposition attackers in place including our own. Looking forward to having him around.

3.) 05 Jun 2017 17:45:04
Only thing not to like is the ponytail ed. have a word with him.

{Ed025's Note - yeah it is a bit girlie FMS, if he was one of my mates we would get him bladdered and cut it off when he fell asleep.. :)

4.) 05 Jun 2017 17:52:50
He is an excellent player and will go on to become the best in the league by some miles. Watch out this space. He is power, pace and dominant CB. His hall plying ability is top notch.

5.) 05 Jun 2017 18:06:11
He is michaelangelos david in athletic/ technical terms.

But spongebob in attitude.

If klopp can get it screwed on then your talking world eleven cb for me like.

All im critical of is taking a 60mil pound risk. Because what's needwd isn't as easy as it sounds.

2 in recent memory.

Luiz and moreno.

One clicked the other well.

6.) 05 Jun 2017 19:21:03
No point getting caught up on the transfer sums. More than likely in his first game he will score an OG and everyone will be like what a waste of money. Clubs can't win now a days with transfers.

Either they spend too much and we are critical or we don't sign a "top player" and we won't give the guy a chance.

60mill is a lot but the cost of players is only going to increase year on year. It's the state of the game now. We need to spend to try win something otherwise we will end up falling further behind. End of the day top players want more than CL they want to win something.

At the moment it seems klopp is selling that it could happen well. Ed002 has said FSG aim is to win the title seems they are spending when the player wants to join. Only time will tell if klopp can win a few trophies for us.

7.) 05 Jun 2017 19:43:10
If we sign vvd.

Anything less than a trophy is sheer failure. that's the pressure now.

No scrapping fourth. We have to be title or just off and the fa cup or Carling cup and champions league qf.

I don't think I could give a post more of a thumbs down than for some of you moaning lot! Have a little faith and stop living in fantasy land where we have an unlimited treasure chest! Ed002 has explained thousands of times that the cost to the club is often waaaaay more than the headline transfer fee that is reported in the press!

Some of you lot can be right moaning Murtles at times!

1.) 02 Jun 2017 19:20:16
But how can spending 50 mil on vvd be more than 40 for mendy. Even if it is your not talking about alot.

Also we havr funds were just pissing them down the drain.

Hate fans who think thete better than the others.

2.) 02 Jun 2017 20:16:25
The cost for every other club is also way more than the reported transfer fees. That's not Liverpool specific so it's not an excuse. Everyone pays all the fees related to transfers. Doesn't stop our competitors it shouldn't stop us.

{Ed025's Note - the likes of city, united and chelsea are in a different spending league to liverpool jezza mate..

3.) 02 Jun 2017 21:01:39
Love the irony of a fan moaning about moaning fans.

I'm so fed up with people moaning I'm going to moan about it.

Lolz.

4.) 02 Jun 2017 21:14:00
Liverpool Accounts for the year to May 31 2016: Turnover £302m
Net debt Not stated; bank loan £55m; FSG loan £110m

Manchester United Accounts for the year to June 30 2016 Turnover: £515m. Net debt £261m

Manchester City Accounts for the year to May 31 2016: Turnover £392m. Net debt £11m

Chelsea Accounts for the year to June 30, 2016. Turnover £335m
Net debt Not stated; £1.14bn owed to Abramovich

Arsenal Accounts for the year to May 31, 2016: Turnover £354m
Net debt £6m

UTD may have the most debt but one can see from there turnover they are easily dealing with it.

Abramovich, well, he will make sure that Chelsea sell on players to have enough to to level out incomings. That is the only way he can try not to keep on writing off debt against himself.

Arsenal are a very well managed financially.

City are still looking pretty after the family sponsorship deal of the Ethiad.

Liverpool on the other hand, go crazy in this window and have a bad season could see FSG rolling in their graves by the start of the following season. When running an establishment which has debt which multiplied by 2 exceeds the clubs turnover = not a very good sight. Not very good for Liverpool.

£70m for VVD anyone?

5.) 02 Jun 2017 22:03:52
But liverpool arw about to pay 50 million for vvd. On probably a 5 yesr deal at 150k a week and then a 3/ 5 mil signing fee. And 5 mil in agent fees.

Thats avout 100 mil.

The same principle for mendy but his fee at 39. Equals less.

6.) 02 Jun 2017 23:57:37
Excelent info max! Hope people see that we cannot expend like the other teams.

May I ask, where did you find that info?

23 May 2017 10:57:21
with all this chat about what to do with Milner next season if a new left back comes in, and what to do with Clyne as he is playing poorly, why not move Milner to right back?

One of his main criticisms this season has been the fact that he always cuts back onto his favored right side, this would fix that. Now i am by no means saying this is the ideal situation but could be a useful stop gap while we integrate Trent AA into the 1st team picture

Let me know your thoughts.

Red Sandman.

Red Sandman

1.) 23 May 2017 11:26:56
This could well be the plan B if we fail to land our target RB. Question is, will Milner swallow it?

2.) 23 May 2017 11:30:40
Id go for it.

Easily see him becoming the new finnan.

Endless runner. Superb defensively. Cracking cross.

Hes smashed it on tbr left. Would love to see him on the right!

3.) 23 May 2017 14:38:40
If it meant spending and focusing more on an established left back, then I'd do that. I don't think right back is as big a priority as some have made it out to be. It will become one if clyne was to leave though.

We should definitely look to keep Milner, he is what you need to compete.

4.) 23 May 2017 21:42:35
Kman, both FB positions are a priority and Klopp has made it so, per Ed01. Ricardo Perreira is our no. 1 target for RB (and LB as he can do both) and having seen him play a bit, he is light years ahead of both our FB's and that is the quality we need cos our system depends on it.

Hi ed001,

As promised here is my match analysis for potential Liverpool target Ryan Sessengon in Fulhams 1-1 draw with Brentford.

Now let me just start by saying that if you check my previous posts, I was certain that while Ryan shows promise he isn't ready for the first team of Liverpool. However I now take that back.

This young lad I really think is the real deal. Once again he showed incredible skill and desire on the pitch and really didn't seem like a teenager at all. Playing in the left of a midfield 5, Not only was he a threat everytime he had the ball (including showing real maturity and unselfishness to pass it to Cairney in the box when through on goal for Fulham's goal) the thing that really stood out for me was the fact that he really made a massive effort to track back and win the ball back when ever it was lost, and I mean like really sprint as hard as possible back to try and win the ball back. I loved it. Any time the left back, Malone, gave the ball away up the pitch it was Ryan who was giving absolutely everything to get back in position. Add on top of that the fact that he also takes set pieces (although didn't today) then I really think he could offer a lot to Liverpool whether as a left back or a left wing (where he played today) .

I've now watched this lad at least 20 times live and he is getting better with each game. Yes he still has his faults like any young player would (for example he does lose possession quite a bit) I still think we should go all out and get him as a player for our first team squad next season. The only thing that worries me is that he is vertically silent on the pitch. I don't think I've ever seen him say more than three words in a whole 90 mins which may be down to his age or confidence but I hope it's something he can change as the last thing we need is another silent member of our back four!

Let me know if you have any questions as I've no doubt forgotten to write half the stuff down that I intended but as you can imagine it's quite hard to type up a match report on a crowded train after a game on your phone!

Red Sandman.

Red Sandman

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, nice to know you are coming round to the idea of signing him! I think the lad is the real deal.}

1.) 29 Apr 2017 17:51:00
Thanks lad hopefully we'll get the kid👍.

2.) 29 Apr 2017 18:25:18
The lad has been playing for a team chasing promotion in the championship so he can't be no mug.

If he's brought in to push Milner then that would do for me.

Milner hasn't been too bad at LB I'm sure he can do another couple of months whilst Ryan settled in.

3.) 29 Apr 2017 18:06:16
Klopp is very keen on the player as much as I know. I am skeptical about his defending and trackin back. Moreover he plays on the side of Degan Lovren!

4.) 29 Apr 2017 19:51:26
The sandman has just watched him live and praising his tracking back.

5.) 29 Apr 2017 19:58:20
If we sign him he's coming into replace Milner, Milner is totally out of his depth, simply not good enough. Seesegnon is miles better.

6.) 30 Apr 2017 00:20:38
Thanks for the match report Red Sandman, sounds promising for such a young player! I think one of the problems with Milner has been after we've had a lot of games and his fitness levels have dropped off, he struggles to keep up at times!

7.) 29 Apr 2017 21:56:24
You think we will get him ed mate?

{Ed001's Note - no idea, certainly not if they get promoted, he will stay then.}

8.) 30 Apr 2017 02:39:44
Milners has a lot to offer.
He's been played out of position and in my opinion ion he has done well.

There is a lot more that milnerror brings to the team. Remember the late high pressuree penalty against Swansea?

He kept his composure and slotted home the perfect penalty to keep our then winning streak going and put us in 2nd place.

I think he is a honest a player as you will get.

29 Apr 2017 14:27:04
Heading to the Fulham game today (have a season ticket) . Young Ryan Sessengon is starting on the left wing. If people are interested I will write up a match report of how he gets on.

Ed007, I have mixed feelings about Stefan Johansen. He can be brilliant and times and pops up with the goals here and there but my word can he sometimes go missing! Case and point was a few weeks back against Blackburn. Playing at home, 2-1 up, we lose the ball in the final minute up the pitch and he just stops moving, not tracking back at all leading to blackburn to score a last minute equalizer. It looked like he gave up and couldn't care

He has good energy though and when he seems up for it him and T Cairney can cause the opposition a lot of problems

(Apologies for this being non LFC related ed007 asked for it! )

Red Sandman.

Red Sandman

{Ed007's Note - He was a great player for Celtic in his first 18 months - he won the PFA POTY after his first season - but his second full season was exactly as you've described which is a shame because as you say when he is in the mood he is a terror to opposition defences.
I was disappointed when we sold him as I'd have liked to see how he would have reacted to Rodgers high pressing style but the fans had been on his back and I can understand why he wanted away from Glasgow.
Cheers for the info mate.}

Thought I would chip in here with my two cents worth. I have a season ticket at Fulham. I've been watching young Ryan very closely this season. While I do think he has immense talent and with the right drive could be very very good, I am not quite sure he is ready for first team Oren football. He is still young and makes a lot of mistakes. That being said he has quite the left foot, can play in defence or on the wing, and is actually quite handy at set pieces!

{Ed007's Note - How's Stefan Johansen doing if you don't mind me asking mate?}

Just to add as well that Delle Ali played lower league football too. As did Ramsey. As did Gareth Bale and Lallana for that matter? Just because they are currently playing in the lower leagues doesn't mean there aren't good players to be found. Dilbert.

Lee you are posting rubbish again. Man Utd did not sign those players after a single performance. If you remember correctly Utd actually announced the singing of Hernadez before the World Cup had started!

{Ed001's Note - and Park Ji Sung had been tracked for a couple of seasons. Suarez was defo not signed on the back of a good World Cup either.}

MK Scouser,

I mentioned this on a post before but I am a season ticket holder at Fulham and have seen a lot of him. I don't doubt that he isn't good enough, what worries me is that he may be a season away from being ready for us. What worries me is if we buy him, he has a few games in which he makes mistakes (like any young player would) and then some of the fans jump on his back, his confidence drops and he rots away in the reserves or is shipped out on loan numerous times around the country (like Markovic who many (including Ed002 herself) would agree was bought in a season too soon) .

From watching him play this season I think he could be exactly what we need long term! I just want it to be properly planned out, whether that involves him spending a season on loan back at Fulham or him being integrated into the team slowly in cup games, I don't know! The lad is only 17 (just? ) after all!

Out of curiosity Ed001 who, in your opinion, would you say is the most underrated player in the league?

For me, I would say Henderson. This is because it really does seem that no fans, except for some Liverpool fans, rate him.

Red Sandman.

Red Sandman

{Ed001's Note - I would say he is certainly up there, he is the most underrated in our side at least. As for the rest, there are very few players that aren't ridiculously overhyped, so it is difficult to pick any out as underrated. I would have to put Dembele of Spurs up there though.}
