Ed001 I have a question for you if you are around. Seeing as its birthday today (he is only 35?), what was your opinion of Milan Baros back in the day? It seemed that one season he was our main striker (2005 I think) and then he wasn't given a shot after that. Was it just a case of Rafa no rating him?

Red Sandman.

{Ed001's Note - he worked hard on the pitch, but he was a headless chicken, similar to Shrek at United now, just running round with little effect on the game as he didn't make the right runs. Baros also lacked the composure to finish the chances he got. Decent back up forward, but he didn't want to be a back up. Rafa didn't rate him enough to make him first choice, hence why he went and signed Torres. Rafa liked his players to have intelligence, which sadly Milan lacked.}

One of my fave battlers and had hair like him too lol. would have been better suited playing for a more technical team.

Another Houlier signing.

Not a lot of KOP! (Geddit? )

Hi Eds and fellow Reds,

I had the pleasure of being at the Fulham vs Burton game last night where the young 16 year old left back, Sessengon, scored a last minute equaliser. He seriously impressed me through out the game. Are any big teams interested in him? I am a Fulham season ticket holder (live 5 mins from the stadium) and let me tell you this kid is set for big things. Please oh please Mr Klopp sign him up for us. Especially when we have no real left back talent in the U21 side either.

{Ed001's Note - he is being watched by lots of clubs mate, I think they said they had 18 scouts at one game to watch him, if I remember correctly.}

North or south of the river?

Hi Ed002 if she is around,

What are you thoughts on Mino Raiola recently stating that he expects that within the next 3-4 years for transfers to break the £200m mark for a single player?

Simply put, how can clubs afford such an outlay? Is it simple a case of the new TV deals or are there other factors that are coming in to play?

Thanks in advance.

Big love
Red Sandman.

Red Sandman

{Ed002's Note - He has seen the projected income figures that have been estimated for each of the "elite" clubs considering the breakaway - and there is some foreplay going on right now. The thing is that for some of the clubs (several, not just one or two), the figures look way too high for me. Regardless, he knows he is likely correct.}

1.) 06 Sep 2016 20:11:20
Think he is just setting market expectations for what he expects to earn in the near future. 😀

If you are in any industry you try to talk up the market when it is in your interests to stimulate it. why should a football agent be any different.

Having said this I do find it interesting that Utd spent the same with Raiola as we spent on our record signing. Apparently Raiola can't play LB either so wouldn't have been worth it for us 😀.

{Ed002's Note - It i exactly as I said Kiddfan. There has been a prediction carried out by an accountancy firm given the exit criteria over three different dates. It was shared with the clubs that are part of the breakaway discussions on Monday Morning - and Mino is basing what he said on that - nothing more. As I said, I would caveat the figures as some seem bery high for some cluns - but supect Mino will be proven to be correct.}

2.) 06 Sep 2016 21:19:59
The higher the transfer fee, the higher the cut for the Agent, did you know that Mino Raiola earned more from his wheeling and dealings than Ronaldo earned last year .

3.) 06 Sep 2016 22:10:01
These super agents have some interesting names don't they?
Kia (Joorabchian), Pini (Zahavi) and Mino (Raiola) .

Don't think I'll ever become a super agent with my name 😡.

4.) 06 Sep 2016 22:23:34
Foreplay? Ed, what Mino does in his spare time is none of my business and after seeing him, quite disturbing to think of.

5.) 06 Sep 2016 22:49:03
Rion Keague.

6.) 07 Sep 2016 13:29:55
I can no longer un-read that, Ron. It`s stuck in my brain forever. Thanks a lot, Ron.

Great news that Sakho is back. Let's hope he can press on for next season and be part of a much improved back line with our new additions of Matip, Karius (and hopefully a new LB) .

What's with a lot of guys on this site suggesting that Sakho should replace Hendo as captain though? How on earth did you suss out that Hendo isn't a good leader? Is it because his leadership stats on football manager and Fifa are as good as you like? He was clearly made captain for a reason and Klopp has been around long enough to determine who should be captain or not. So sit down, shut up and get behind the lad.

Red Sandman.

1.) 09 Jul 2016 10:46:14
I'm not disagreeing with you but was it not Rodgers that made him captain.

2.) 09 Jul 2016 11:05:41
Farno I'm not disagreeing with you but are you able to read?

3.) 09 Jul 2016 12:33:39
Me ma is made of better Captain material than Henderson.

4.) 09 Jul 2016 12:40:51
My bad just re read it there.

5.) 09 Jul 2016 12:48:08
Just out of curiousity Davey, what makes a good captain? What has Hendo done to prove (or maybe not done) to make you so convincingly think he is a poor captain?

07 Jul 2016 13:36:14
I know that we shouldn't get too caught up in the finances of the deal but is anyone else a little miffed at the low fee for Ibe? He is only 20 years old and English for heavens sake! Think of the recent fees for some English players recently!

I really hope this transfer doesn't come back to bite us in the ass. Players don't always develop linearly and I feel a good loan move or maybe even another season as a impact-sub player for us and we could have seen him develop leaps and bounds.

Klopp clearly doesn't rate him and so a sale would make sense from his perspective. Not sure I agree with him on this one though. Would love to hear all your thoughts.

The fee seems about right to me especially on his form and inconsistencies last season. I hope howe transforms him.

2.) 07 Jul 2016 13:52:50
Low fee?!

I've been laughing all morning saying it's too high! What has he done to warrant a fee of 15 let alone the higher figure you want?!

The only reasons I can think of are 1) He's young - therefore people assume he'll turn into a world beater with time when more often than not they don't really progress much further

2) He's English. If ibe was Irish you'd be laughing your head off at how average he is and 15 is a bargain

3) this TV deal has thrown the market into chaos. See the bids for benteke and Tomkins as reference points.

3.) 07 Jul 2016 14:01:32
£15m for a guy who has played less than 2000 minutes of Premier League football and only has 1 league goal seems quite good to me!

I think Ibe has the potential to be a good player for Bournemouth though. That £15m is a gamble that he becomes something he currently isn't.

It really does show how mad modern football is though. A week ago people were saying that Mane was only worth £8-10m despite being the top scorer in the team that came 6th. Now people are moaning that we're only getting £15m for an academy player on the fringe of our 8th placed squad.

There really is a ridiculous amount of money being thrown around this summer. I predict that the world record transfer fee will be broken and then re-broken before the summer is out.

4.) 07 Jul 2016 14:06:15
Ibe was trying too hard last season. The fact that he spent the Summer before doing extra work with the King shows at least he wanted to succeed. Sometimes it doesn't happen for a player for numerous reasons, maybe he just isn't at that level although i think he could be personally. I would love him to move on for a good fee, get settled and maybe in the future show what a good player is really is. Sometimes moving on from on from the weight around your neck that is Lfc is a good thing. I hope it is for Ibe.

5.) 07 Jul 2016 14:13:09
Irishkopite, £15 million these days does not buy you a world beater. I think you are rather harsh on your assessment on Ibe.

6.) 07 Jul 2016 14:20:15
I thought it was a good price.

7.) 07 Jul 2016 14:51:17
MK Scouser.

My point I'm trying to make is something along the lines of is the loss of Ibe worth £15m to us?

Yes he doesn't have a great deal of experience in terms of minutes played. But this is a young kid, with tremendous potential (don't forget a lot of people at the club rated him as better than Sterling) who has shown the required attitude to succeed. Do you think £15m would be enough for us to go out to the market as it is (with crazy high prices) and find a 20 year old English winger who has shown he has the right attitude and hunger? To me it seems like that would be worth a bit more but that's just my opinion.

Like I said before, Klopp clearly doesn't rate him so I guess it can be argued that £15 m for a player with no future at the club is amazing. I just can't help feeling a little bit miffed especially if Ibe goes on to fulfill his potential.

Red Sandman.

8.) 07 Jul 2016 15:47:14
Player fees have been crazy for a while but I think £15m is a stupid amount of money for Ibe - I'll take it though.

I'm not knocking him, he's quite clearly a talented young player but I'd love someone to point out exactly what he's done to have a club value him so highly?

I think Bournemouth might regret this if they start struggling in the league next season.

9.) 07 Jul 2016 17:02:25
Brilliant business from the club point of view. We made a habit of paying over the odds and it's a nice gesture in return. He scored 1 in 41 games in his career and is now where near a first team player. I would take that money and run. Don't understand what's the sentiments flowing down the page. If he was anywhere good enough, Tye manage would have kept him. End off.

10.) 07 Jul 2016 17:44:58
The sentiment is that he played in the Liverpool red shirt. He tried, he done his best and he didn't act like a knob. Therefore he should be treated with a bit of common decency and respect. Not something i'm expecting you to understand Harry.

11.) 07 Jul 2016 19:56:50
Spot on, Irish Rover!

Just to add as well that Delle Ali played lower league football too. As did Ramsey. As did Gareth Bale and Lallana for that matter? Just because they are currently playing in the lower leagues doesn't mean there aren't good players to be found. Dilbert.

Lee you are posting rubbish again. Man Utd did not sign those players after a single performance. If you remember correctly Utd actually announced the singing of Hernadez before the World Cup had started!

Red Sandman

{Ed001's Note - and Park Ji Sung had been tracked for a couple of seasons. Suarez was defo not signed on the back of a good World Cup either.}

Out of curiosity Ed001 who, in your opinion, would you say is the most underrated player in the league?

For me, I would say Henderson. This is because it really does seem that no fans, except for some Liverpool fans, rate him.

Red Sandman.

Red Sandman

{Ed001's Note - I would say he is certainly up there, he is the most underrated in our side at least. As for the rest, there are very few players that aren't ridiculously overhyped, so it is difficult to pick any out as underrated. I would have to put Dembele of Spurs up there though.}

I think we are well stocked in our front three. Plus why would we look to get a replacement for Coutinho in January? January is the more expensive of the two windows to go after a top class talent. Furthermore let's say we do buy a "replacement" for coutinho in January, then what? The replacement is happy to sit on the bench to wait until Cout leaves?

Highly unlikely if you ask me. If anything I predict very minimal movements (maybe sakho out) in January

It would be so so boring if everyone on here agreed. Sometimes it's interesting for the sake of this site to have people throw a different opinion out there every once in a while.

Ed041 do you not agree that we need a hendo type player in the team though? We can't have a team full of the flair and attacking mid type players

Red Sandman.

Red Sandman

{Ed041's Note - it depends on what 'type' of player Henderson is for you? If its a defensive CM its not working is it?
