Morning EDS,

Do you know if the club have received any interest in signing or loaning Sakho in the last 2 weeks or so? I am aware of what you have stated about interest previously and that we have out priced him to potential suitors.

If he is not sold or loaned out by September 01st, how will his season pan out as it seems he certainly won't be included in the squad? Will he play in the reserve games etc? or do you think a deal will eventually be done?

Best Regards.

{Ed001's Note - his injury is keeping interest down mate. He will have to play for the reserves if no deal is done, though I suspect we will find a way to get him out, even if only on loan.}

1.) 09 Aug 2017 07:45:05
We seem to be between a rock and a hard place with him being injured especially with the price we have put on his head, maybe the club need to lower there expectations a little bit?

Do you know when he potentially could be ready for first team competitive football?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry.}

2.) 09 Aug 2017 08:03:27
Thanks ED.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

3.) 09 Aug 2017 12:10:25
I know it has been done to death, and I don't full know what happened behind the scenes or in front of the cameras that made his and klopps relationship break down, but it still seems like biting your nose of to spite your face. He is arguably our best centre back (in my opinion he is) and would be a very welcome addition to the squad without spending a penny. We are thinking of spending £50M on VVD, but I am sure if you offered Klopp £10M to forget whatever happened it could all be solved!

Won't happen so don't shoot me just thinking and writing.

4.) 09 Aug 2017 12:50:54
we offered Klopp £10M to forget whatever happened is the daftest thing I have heard on here ever. and he is not that good plus he is trouble just take the £20m people are offering job done.

5.) 09 Aug 2017 13:06:34
I think simply offering someone money to forget something happened is bribery! It would mean that there is no integrity left at the club. Not that there is a lot at the moment.

6.) 09 Aug 2017 13:58:36
Klopps professional conduct regarding transfers this summer make Sahkos transgressions seem insignificant.

Klopp should take a look at his own behaviour and consider giving Sakho another chance in the first team squad,

At least the player is then in the shop window, not whiling away his large contract in the reserves.

A blindman could see this was better for the club from a financial perspective,

Whats the worst that could happen?

That Sahko doesn't take his chance and we wnd up back where we are now.

But if he takes his chance he could be worth 50 million.

Its unthinkable that this option hasn't been discussed,

But nothing surprises me about the LFC hierarchy these days.

7.) 09 Aug 2017 15:24:51
In the know then LFCder?

Do you know the full circumstances?

Come on, do tell!

8.) 09 Aug 2017 15:28:01
what is it with fans and sakho being are best defender the same fans that say VVd is not that good. am all for support your players but saying there better than they are is just stupid that's why we do not win any thing overhyped players getting paid to much money. Lucas was another one was not good enough but at least he was a model professional Sakho is just trouble and not worth the space in the squad. bamby on ice just another Balotelli but without the talent.

Good afternoon ED001

I have done a search but found no updates on the Gary "Pitbull" Medel rumours that surfaced a couple of days ago, and I was wondering if you did that triple check to find out?

I very rarely write in about rumours, but this would be the coup of the summer, if true that is?

Thanks in advance Ed.

{Ed001's Note - I am still waiting to hear back, he is another one that we have not been tracking, so it would be a spur of the moment move if we are trying to get him. Similar to Wijnaldum. Hopefully Klopp's spur of the moment purchases are better than mine.}

1.) 20 Jul 2016 15:43:56
Thanks for your reply mate

I really hope it happens, but can't help but think it is just another name that has been randomly pulled out of the bag by the red tops et al

Fingers crossed.

2.) 20 Jul 2016 17:15:45
I like him as a player myself, but one of my mates is a massive Inter fan. When I mentioned it he was more than happy to say the least, said we'd be better off with Brozovic but he wouldn't want him to leave.

Time will tell though. I'd love him, bodies flying everywhere! be great!

19 Jul 2016 07:15:23
Good Morning ED001

I was wondering if you did manage to seek any information in regards to yesterdays rumours that started to circulate about Gary Medel and that Klopp was interested in bringing him to the club?

I think you said you were going to triple check! so apologies if i'm a little early

Thanks in advance Ed.

{Ed001's Note - not heard back yet from one person, so far all seems to be negative though, sadly. I would love it to happen!}

1.) 19 Jul 2016 07:47:48
He's massively average. Like a Sunday league version of Mascherano. Swerve.

2.) 19 Jul 2016 07:58:31
Good job ed001 didn't see you say that!

3.) 19 Jul 2016 08:10:50
Seriously Lee? Medel is anything but average. He is a far better player than Mascherano as well. If he signed, he'd be straight in our midfield next to Henderson.

He is basically Mascherano, but with actual football ability to go with the terrier like, hard tackling game.

4.) 19 Jul 2016 09:44:39
I've seen medel play quite a lot. I was a cardiff city season ticket holder when he played there. And I say with confidence that if he signed for us, we would need to have disciplined full backs, because that would be the only way in behind our defense. Medel is a beast playing just in front of the back line (far far superior to masch) . For me he would be signing of the season. Let's hope the reply you're waiting on is the answer we want ed001.

5.) 19 Jul 2016 10:33:11
Medel is a tough competitive defensively sound centre midfielder. He would make a good signing as he would give us someone who could stop attacks when we want to get a result.

6.) 19 Jul 2016 10:24:45
Average? Shows how much you've seen him then doesn't it? He's a fantastic player. A player for a while now I'd love to see in a Liverpool shirt.

7.) 19 Jul 2016 13:40:49
I don't know if anyone has noticed this or pointed it out, but these rumours about Gary Medel started after Sakho changed his number from 17 to 3. Medel plays with number 17, so it seems to me like it's just silly journalism connecting the dots.

Then again, maybe it's actually paving the way for him haha.

8.) 19 Jul 2016 17:49:25
Leej5, your post shows clearly that you have never seen him play.

9.) 19 Jul 2016 22:59:39
Better than mash! Oh my God are you for real!

10.) 20 Jul 2016 00:13:48
Griff y were u a Cardiff city season ticket holder when u support Liverpool? Odd.

17 Jul 2016 12:37:19
Morning Ed002

I read this morning that Zielinski's agent Bartolomes Bolek has come out and made a statement that the player has now made up his mind in regards to where he would like to play his football next season. but said it was a secret (? )

I did a search to see if anybody else had posted this and you have already answered it but could not find anything, and was hoping you may be able to give his secret away?

AC Milan or Liverpool?

Thanks in advance Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - THe player wants to move to Liverpool but Liverpool don't want to pay the asking price for him - so moving to Liverpool is not an option right now. Udinese have spoken and negoiated with Napoli and with Milan- they have no intention of negotiating with Liverpool who already know the asking price. Zielinski is being pressed by Milan who want an answer before they turn to one of their two options.}

1.) 17 Jul 2016 12:54:15
Thanks for the reply ED002

It sounds like a move to Liverpool is dead in the water judging by the sound of what Udinese must think of the likes of Ian Ayre et al and the tapping up saga.

It certainly doesn't do much for the clubs kudos and reputation for any future business that is to be conducted around Europe.

{Ed002's Note - It makes it difficult - but if clubs are going to do it they then should not messa round over smallish amounts of money.}

2.) 17 Jul 2016 13:22:08
I've been saying this for a while now regarding this deal. Tapping him up has poisoned the well and clearly, Udinese want nothing to do with us anymore except stick us for every penny we have which we won't stand for either. Why can't we just take a hint? Walk away!

3.) 17 Jul 2016 16:42:45
Ludicrous behavior by Liverpool on this deal.

4.) 17 Jul 2016 20:28:58
If we wanted the player enough for Klopp to speak to him wrongly and the kid wants to move to us so badly why can't we just fork up a bit more money and get this done. Either that or state we have no intention of paying more and the lad can forget about moving to us and get on with his career.

5.) 17 Jul 2016 22:51:43
because udinese don't want anything to do with us, therefore it makes it virtually impossible for us to get this deal complete, that's why Napoli and now milan are in the driving seat, let's learn our lesson from this and move on.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool know what they have to do. And have done for weeks.}

6.) 18 Jul 2016 05:56:26
We've behaved appalling with regards to this particular transfer, it is very disappointing to see.

25 Nov 2015 21:19:00
Good Evening Eds,

ED002, if you are about. over the last 12 months or so, you have wrote some really interesting articles in regards to the pan European breakaway in which I have read with great interest

You have mentioned the meetings that take place (every 6 months in Monaco? . I might be wrong)

Has there been any meetings in the last 3 to 6 months that have happened, and if so, could you share any info that may of come out of them?

Or is it still work in progress?

Is it still attended by the G14? If I remember rightly this all the clubs who have won the Champions league since Porto in 2004

When it comes to the breakaway, how will it be decided what clubs go into it?

And who will be the governing body?

Apologies in advance if you may of answered these questions before . I thought I would try and bring a conversation to the table away from Klipperty etc as I have really enjoyed reading your lengthy and informative replies on this topic before

All the best

{Ed002's Note - The meetings were annually but now they happen two and sometimes three times a year. There is a meeting in December - and there will be a discussion about the state of FIFA, the situation with UEFA and a so far unpublished claim from a retired referee that the result of a Champions League game was influenced by a third party. The last meeting was at the end of August and included discussions about media rights and a proposal from two clubs that Timing wise, two very prominent clubs, club vs country issues and a proposal to change the forma of the UEFA League. Much of the time was taken up with a proposal from two sides who wish to see a breakaway league much sooner than has other wise been discussed. It went to a vote where they had support from one other side with two abstaining.

In terms of attendees it includes some but not all of the G14 sides. The sides that eventually have the opportunity to go in to a breakaway in the first instance will be the sides partaking in the meetings.

They have been unable to agree on a Governing body, but it will need to be new and independent.}

1.) 26 Nov 2015 10:52:44
Many thanks for the info, both appreciated and interesting.

As Liverpool had representatives in the original G14 (I have noticed this was disbanded in 2008 and replaced by a European FA with around a 100 clubs in it now) . do we still have a presence at these Monaco meetings?

Also Eds, have any more discussions taken place in regards to travelling / away fans, and if the clubs that do breakaway are actually going to have an away section in the ground?

Best regards.

{Ed002's Note - The European Club Association has no involvement in any of this, nor in anything else of note. Liverpool are not involved in any of the discussions. All fans will be welcome to the games.}

2.) 26 Nov 2015 12:08:54
I know you say it is going to happen, I just think it will be bad for football. I know it needs to be restructured a bit, but who will be able to afford to go to away games more than once or twice a season if it was across Europe. I'm not sure how many teams you said would be in the league, but I recall you saying there would eventually be two leagues, but without champions league games, and say for English teams, no fa cup or league cup games, that's a lot less games. I know there will be more good games on, if there is another league, but I would still support Liverpool, presumably still in the epl, watch their games and only watch other games when I have time.
If the champions league was still around it would be Europa league teams mostly with a few extras.
Again, I know you said it is happening, but I pray it doesn't.

{Ed002's Note - There is little doubt that eventually this will happen. I hold a reasonably strong view in terms of the need to restructure football in Europe in any case. For me an eventual a breakaway pan-European league would force the restructuring of many of the national leagues, possibly resulting in a British league with perhaps only a couple of professional tiers and then regionalised amateur leagues below that. Financially I do not see that so many English pro sides can be sustained within the sport which, like it or not, will see more and more money going in to the highest levels of the game. Governments will ensure that grassroots sport get funding but everything in the middle (Southern, Northern, Conference, Division 2, Scottish Divisions 1-3, League of Wales will not get the funding needed to continue on any sort of professional basis.}

3.) 30 Nov 2015 14:44:05
Is it possible that clubs could field two teams, one in the "EPL" and one in their national league with players being interchanged. Would they be allowed to?

{Ed002's Note - No - that won't happen. Once the clubs go they will go for good.}

Thank you for the Sharkopod, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't realise you were also the voice of The Mysterons too

If you can be bothered one day I'd love to hear a Sharkopod with just your groovy tunes on it, without any transfer gossip, that would be mega :)

All the best for the new year

{Ed002's Note - Well thanks.}

1.) 29 Dec 2018 16:39:18
Looking forward to listening on the drive home later.

Thanks E002 :)

2.) 29 Dec 2018 19:58:03
Where is the sharkopod please Ed? Hope all the Eds and fellow reds had a good holiday.

{Ed002's Note - Have a hunt around the website - I don’t know where it is.}

10 Dec 2018 19:28:32
Good evening ED001

I was wondering if you have done a player profile on Adriano, the Brazilian lad who was at Inter?

I read a short article on him over the weekend how he is back living in a favela in Brazil, kicking about with the local gangsters and not up to much good - I thought it would be interesting for you to research and of course for us lot to read, if you haven't done it already? If you have where can I find the article as I would like to read it?

All the best

{Ed001's Note - I haven't. It was only being discussed the other day on one of the other sites, I think Arsenal, what to do as he does not really qualify as a legend. But I do intend to do an article on him and will do a profile to go along with it.}

1.) 10 Dec 2018 19:50:13
Brilliant thanks mate, I’ll look forward to reading it as always 👍🏾.

{Ed001's Note - bear with me though, I have a backlog to get through first!}

2.) 10 Dec 2018 20:07:50
Yeah I know mate, I read them all to be honest and always enjoy them, plus the post match and daily reviews too, it’s a daily routine.

All the best

{Ed001's Note - you know I still can't get used to that, people actually wanting to read what I write!}

3.) 10 Dec 2018 20:30:26
I look forward to the post match reviews the most as you always pick up on a lot I don’t or I have missed (guilty of watching the ball than the play)

For example I remember somebody was moaning about Henderson always passing sideways and you made a comment about watching his head, when the ball is 6ft away from him receiving it, and it will be positioned 180 degree away from the ball, always looking to move it on and create an attack, but has the ability not to when nothing is on and retain possession which is very clever play

I’ve watched him closely since you said that and he does it every time, so it’s the little things like that, that make you watch the next game in a bit of a different way

{Ed001's Note - I am glad to help in that way. My grandad used to always do that for me as a kid, he would see things that others missed and point them out to me. I am just glad to be able to do that for others.}

4.) 10 Dec 2018 20:56:09
Adriano was a cracking player and had a beast of a left foot on him. i remember him from his Parma days (Football Italia on channel 4) and when he first moved to Inter, shame how things turn out.

5.) 10 Dec 2018 20:54:04
You’ve got a very personable style of writing Ed, always worth reading even if I’ve no interest in the subject matter. I write myself, had a life changing diagnosis this year so I’m looking at possibilities to take it up professionally. Got one thing in particular might be good for this site, would you want to give it a read? And how would I get it to you?

{Ed033's Note - You could send it through our contact form (look for Contact Us at the bottom of the page).

6.) 10 Dec 2018 21:06:32
Send it through Matt, always good to read peoples work mate!

7.) 11 Dec 2018 05:45:48
Didn't he always struggles with discipline off the pitch, remember something about his mom intervening or something at some point, could be wrong but I am sure I read that some where.

8.) 11 Dec 2018 08:00:11
Adriano was a great player. It seemed to turn bad for him after his dad died I think it was. The BBC have been doing articles (BBC 3 maybe) on past players like Nedved and Adriano which have brought back some memories! I'm sure a quick search will locate them, they're pretty interesting reads.

10 Dec 2018 19:26:32

Thanks for the insight mate, it does seem such a shame about what happened to his career.

Was his Dads death gang / money related?

I think I’ll do some reading up on it as I get the feeling the player profile might not happen now 🤦🏽‍♂️

07 Nov 2018 14:58:41
Good Afternoon Eds and Reds,

When Countinho left in January, a lot of people, myself included stated we became a better team after his departure, mainly because he was sulking and dragging his heels whilst engineering his dream move to Barca, and because it allowed The Ox a good run of games and he continued to improve game by game so PipCou didn't seem to be missed

However, I do believe now we are missing a "Countinho at his best" and that little bit of magic to turn a game on its head.

Somebody with that clever "no look" or "slide rule" pass, or somebody who can hit the top bins from 25 yards out of nothing.

When was the last time we actually scored direct from a free kick? Or from outside the box even?

I am hoping Naby will become that player closely followed by the return of The Ox next season but I do feel we may need to go into the market in next summer to find a new magician who can unlock the box.

Do you think this conservative football Klopp is playing is hindering the space in the final third for the front three to run into from deep?

And do you think it is to conserve energy in the first half of the season, and we may see him let them rip in the second half?

1.) 07 Nov 2018 15:43:35
Shaquiri can clearly be that player for us!

2.) 07 Nov 2018 15:56:23
Can we all just give Fabino and Keita time to settle in before we assess if there's actually an issue with creativity or linking midfield to attack? We also have have the Ox to come back and Shaqiri to be more bedded in.

3.) 07 Nov 2018 17:13:11
Shaquiri was clearly that player for bayern inter and stoke.

4.) 07 Nov 2018 17:15:49
Pretty sure sturridge banged 1 in from outside the box vs chelski.

5.) 07 Nov 2018 17:58:13
Shaqiri has won me over but he is no coutinio. I like the original post, you're bang on mate. I think we are all hoping Keita is that man. Klopp seems to be holding him back a bit.

It seems to fall to the forwards to play the slide rule passes and it works. Can you imagine if we still had coutinio though? Or had signed jorginio? We would be unstoppable.

Danny sturridge scored our last 25 yarder and I'm quite surprised he has not been played much lately. I would give him a shot tonight.

6.) 07 Nov 2018 19:22:57
For fulham, i’d personally just go balls to the wall. Keita and Fabinho in a two, with mane, shaqiri and salah behind sturridge. Firmino needs some kind of break to get physical and mental respite.

7.) 07 Nov 2018 19:29:54
In the summer I thought Klopp signed Fabinho as the holding midfielder, Keita as the all action powerhouse mid and Nabil Fekir was going to be the creative mid/ attacker.
The fact is Fab needs time to adjust, Keita not really got going yet due to injury/ form and Fekir transfer, say no more.
Obviously Klopp felt Liverpool needed a creative player, hence Fekir. So out of the 3 midfielders Klopp wanted, 2 have barely played and the other is still in Lyon.
It's fair to say that the current midfield is probably not Klopps' first choice.

{Ed001's Note - he signed Shaqiri instead of Fekir.}

8.) 07 Nov 2018 19:47:57
OP, I disagree. IMO, The player we are missing is not a Cou-type player. The player we are missing badly I might add, is Ox, plain and simple. Ox was much better for our system after Cou left cos he could do everything. He could press, pass, tackle, shoot, score, track back, defend and assist. Most importantly, Ox could break the lines with pace and power and drive at the oppo's defence. Don't believe me? I propose you watch the City games he played in where they had no answer for him.

We have Keita who can do everything Ox can (see his RBL games for yourself) and Shaq may not be Cou, but he has shown some fine form and is still learning the system. Personally, I don't care for players who don't play for us neither ever or anymore. Hence, let us support those (Fab included) who are here cos they are talented and hope they can help us in due time esp. Keita. He is the one we need right now.

9.) 07 Nov 2018 20:26:29
Agreed on Shaqiri Ed01, I was not criticizing Klopp but pointing out that he has addressed the midfield problems in the Summer.
The new players need time to settle into the team and system which could take months or even most of the season.
It just needs time not panic buys in January.

10.) 07 Nov 2018 20:36:05
I don't understand how people can expect Keita to replace Coutinho or Ox when he's been a DM/ CM his entire career? How does Keita even have the technique to do what Coutinho did for us? Shaqiri is closer to being a solution but even he is nowhere technically able. Part of the reason Keita is languishing is because he is being asked to play on the left, just below Mane. When he is at his best in the middle of the field. Keita would probably be at his best in a pure CM role doing what Milner and Wijnaldum usually do. Or the popular "box to box thingie" role in vogue nowadays.

I may be adding 2 and 2 and getting 5, but if you consider what one of the Eds had said about the club trying to sell Wijnaldum during the summer, and Keita coming in, then it's not far fetched to see where the coaching staff see Keita playing.

11.) 07 Nov 2018 21:50:49
ArAy1969, IMO Keita is a box to box midfielder. Having said that, I fully agree with your post.

12.) 07 Nov 2018 22:08:18
He wanted cabellos bad apparently from real madrid according too Macca and eds mentioned it.

13.) 08 Nov 2018 00:03:32
I believe it's clear after last night that our 'strength in depth' is not as strong as we thought.

14.) 08 Nov 2018 00:07:53
Yes we are currently missing something in midfield, that was my point, and why Klopp wanted Fekir who would start every week had we signed him. Shaqiri, as much as he has played well when given the chance will only ever be back up or start games against the likes of Huddersfield.

Please don’t make silly proposals, I was at 3 out of the 4 city games last season, I’ve had a season ticket in the old Kemlyn Road for 35 years.

08 Aug 2018 12:17:03
Good Afternoon ED001,

I have a question, or more wanting to hear your opinion in something my mate said to me at the weekend, which fried head.

As you live abroad, and watch all the games on the box, and like me probably have been since TV was invented

I work away a lot so mid week games are always watched on the TV, and I now share my season ticket with having two young boys so a lot of Saturday / Sunday games are also watched on the box.

So having said all that, hyperthetically, how would you feel if the owners turned up one day and said they were moving the TV cameras from the main stand over to the Kenny Dalglish stand? And everything was all of a sudden back to front and the kop was on the left?

I don't think I could cope

{Ed001's Note - I have to be honest, I am not sure I would even notice. I am so focused on the players and the game itself that I barely notice the crowd except during breaks in play.}

1.) 08 Aug 2018 12:25:31
Really? I think it would be quite bizarre at first, but I am middle aged, grumpy and don’t like change

Thanks for your reply though mate.

{Ed001's Note - are you describing you or me? I might well be underthinking it, as it has always been the same it is difficult to imagine it different.}

2.) 08 Aug 2018 12:54:43
That’s quite a good question also being grumpy and middle aged think it would be very strange. Demonstrations and boycotting home games would make sure that don’t happen if that was ever on the owners agenda
Up the pool.

3.) 08 Aug 2018 13:54:08
Would be weird seeing the Kop on the left.

4.) 08 Aug 2018 14:07:40
I think you'd get used to it very quickly tbh, it's not like you lose anything.

5.) 08 Aug 2018 14:16:28
I’d hate it, I’ve thought about that before and it just would t be right!

6.) 08 Aug 2018 16:44:42
watch it using a mirror. all will be fine!

7.) 09 Aug 2018 06:17:44
There is something about watching the boys attack the right of the TV screen in search of a winner.

When you say “they” are working on it as you type, are you referring to Liverpool working on signing Fekir, or Chelsea are working on signing Fekir?

Or have I completely mis intetpreted what you wrote there?

ED002, I presume that’s the same Hunter Thompson who wrote the book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas which eventually became a film with Jonny Depp in it?

I don’t know too much about him apart from reading the book and watchung the film, but he certainly seems to know how to breakfast, crikey.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, the same HST.}

ED002 has just cracked his first funny in 18 years and your asking about Italian goal keepers?

You still live your mum don’t you?

{Ed002's Note - It was a true story.}

He is without a doubt a Klopp type of player and would excel under him in my opinion, he would knock the aggression out of him straight away, if it was ever there as you say it probably comes from Simone.

{Ed001's Note - I think Saul would excel anywhere and Barcelona should have paid whatever it took to sign him, rather than wasting the money on Coutinho and Malcom.}

Great read Ed. my perfect summer transfer window would be Saul Niguez and Wan Bissaka, thus creating a new midfielder in TAA

Ta la.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate, Saul is one of my favourite players around currently.}

I actually thought it was quite witty, it made me chuckle after I realised the man in the picture was McGuire.

Then I started to think. The “meme” as the cool kids call it was indicative of a petulant rich kid when he can’t get his own way. Like the only child in the family.

Then I thought why would he do that? React in such a childish petulant way, a grown man?

To me it is Indicative of a child only used to getting there own way and when they can’t, they react in a childish petulant way because they don’t understand dignity or maturity, because they have never had to

ED001 has said many times city “can be got at” and I can’t agree more. Walker and his pals were clearly all watching the Leicester game, and that was his way of releasing the anxiety, probably egged on by his City team mates.

They are feeling the pressure without a doubt and Walker has washed his dirty laundry in public. I dread to think what Pep thought of it.

What we need to do is hold our nerve now, game by game and hope other teams who have got city from now until May don’t just fold, but “get at them” like the Geordie boys did.

Game by game, from one to the next. 3 points each week.

Who cares? He had the chance to part of something special and he chose not to. Fate will sort the rest out.

I wish the lad all the best but we have to move on, without him. The club and the shirt are more important than any individual and always will be.

The best player in the world is useless to us if he doesn’t believe in the team, a player who wants to run through brick walls for the team is priceless.
