Anyone on here from Australia? I'm travelling there just now and wondering if there's any bars you can go to watch lfc games as most of them are on in early hours of morning and most places are closed. I'm in cairns just now but will be in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney as well over next few weeks if anyone knows anywhere I could try.

I'm not in Australia, but there are loads mate.
Have a great time šŸ˜Ž.

10 Dec 2016 20:38:50
There are Liverpool Supporters clubs in most capitals over here.

10 Dec 2016 21:31:54
the treasury casino have the Liverpool supporters there for game day it was at the pig and whistle but my understanding is they meet at casino its always there 24 hrs u could give the Liverpool supporters club in Brisbane a ring and they will sort u out, queen street mall in Brisbane cbd mate trains to city every 20 mins, enjoy man.

10 Dec 2016 22:28:37
One of the national phone networks, Optus, shows all games and on TV the SBS channel shows some games live. Otherwise, pubs and casinos are a good bet.

10 Dec 2016 22:30:25
crown casino melbourne has bars with the live games. easy to get to and find.

11 Dec 2016 00:03:59
If you're in Sydney then Cheers is the best place, located on George St in the CBD. That's where the NSW supporters club is based. It can get wild in there. Alternatively you can try Star Casino, where they have this sports bar with a huge screen.

11 Dec 2016 03:49:26
@Nickisared - I went Cheers before to watch us vs United in the F. A. Cup when they got a dodgy penalty in like the first minute - absolutely crazy place! Fans are top notch though, lot of passion and singing and stuff, were almost fights outside though to do with clashes with United fans - first time I been to a pub to watch a game and they need police to seperate fans!

11 Dec 2016 05:17:42
Thanks for all the help guys. Sorted for west ham game now as its on at 2:30 am here.

11 Dec 2016 09:10:14
Seano, I've only been once but loved it. I chose a perfect game for it - 1-3 at Stamford Bridge last season. When Coutinho and Benteke scored in the second half it was just chaos. I got soaked in beer and loved it. "F*** off Mourinho" in full tune. Best cab ride home ever.

11 Dec 2016 11:28:45
Star city casino Sydney is good, last Time I was there was when we beat city 3-2 under Rodgers. Must have been 200+ reds in there and about 4 city fans.

11 Dec 2016 14:02:23
If you make it over West Australia, the casino has the biggest single screen in the Southern Hemisphere and is full of reds every match.

10 Dec 2016 17:15:35
Congratulations to Joel Mattip for winning Standard Charter player of the month.

Exceptional achievment for a central defender.

10 Dec 2016 18:16:06
He's simply our best player, period.

10 Dec 2016 19:30:37
Hamilton, et tu? Please don't tell me you're catching the Scandinavian virus for hyperbole also? (just kidding) . :-)

10 Dec 2016 20:17:41
I don't know, Coutinho and Firmino are quite good.

10 Dec 2016 22:32:41
Hes been a calming influence in defense this season and has great positional awareness. Our best defender this season.

11 Dec 2016 01:46:56
I don't think we've lost a game this season in which Matip has played. Thats some stat.

11 Dec 2016 03:26:31
Bad shout that hamilton.

10 Dec 2016 15:12:38
What's fans opinions on Guardoila calling for 4/ 5/ 6 substitutions with the amount of games a season?
I think it's a great idea. I wouldn't go to six. Five would be a plausible idea imo. I'd like to see it happen. Whether it's even open for debate by fifa is another thing.

Believable1 Unbelievable9

10 Dec 2016 15:24:18
Great idea on many fronts, to reduce injurys and also to introduce more younger players and to generally get more players playing time.

10 Dec 2016 15:52:48
Not convinced personally and the cinic in me says it's open to abuse for time wasting and stifling a comeback. I. e you could use subs to break up play 5 times in the dying embers. It could also see silly amounts of added time given the 30 second rule.

10 Dec 2016 17:03:37
To stop the above abuse 87red they could introduce a no subs in the last 10 rule, the Sunday league I play in has unlimited subs and players can come back on but we can't make subs in the last 10mins to stop exactly that sort of time wasting tactic. I don't think professional football should be unlimited subs but 5 seems a fair idea.

10 Dec 2016 17:07:22
Aye a good idea in principle but I have to agree with 87red.

It would simply promote clubs who are winning by a narrow margin to use 5 subs minute by minute late on to waste more and more time!

A better way of doing it would be to allow extra subs in extra time in cup matches and in league matches, allow 4 subs but ban subs in time added on in my opinion.

10 Dec 2016 18:18:18
Sounds chaotic to me. Three changes are fine with me for now.

10 Dec 2016 18:55:24
Maybe 1 more for extra time would be fine.

10 Dec 2016 19:23:59
I imagine that if 5 substitions are allowed, then they would probably have to increase the game squad for each match by 2 also? Think of the advantage it gives the teams with deeper benches and bigger budgets $$$. The smaller teams would have a much harder time competing and getting the extra two players to play, against the major teams. And this would definitely tilt some of the balance we currently have in the EPL. Imagine Guardiola changing 4 players after 15 mins of the start of a game because he suddenly realizes he doesn't like what he's seeing. The face of his side can virtually change in a major way. Whereas, Middlesbrough, whom he is facing, is already struggling with a thin squad, as it is, and can only afford to make change later in the 2nd half.

10 Dec 2016 22:37:26
Why change a perfect game? There are no teams disadvantaged by having 3 subs so why change it? More subs just disrupt the flow and momentum of a game.

11 Dec 2016 01:17:39
Its fine the way it is with 3 subs
The prem iis great to watch and is way better without a winter break.
Its a real test of skill and stamina.
The transfer windows have been a great success stopping wealthy clubs buying their way out of trouble mid season.
Makes managers rotate the squad and utilise younger players.

10 Dec 2016 16:04:53
It is a shocking plan. clubs like city have big squads with strength in depth to cope with all the games. If both teams make a combined 10 changes it would ruin the flow of the game.

I think Guardiola needs five changes as he is not sure how to set up his teams against "lesser" premier league clubs who do not just roll over.

10 Dec 2016 18:54:03
No to 5 subs from me what next shoulder pads and 4 quarters instead of 2 halves? Where is the management skills in picking a team for the game? Daft idea by a manager who's looking for excuses.

10 Dec 2016 21:59:53
It's a ridiculous suggestion. 3 is plenty, do we really want the chaos that happens in American sports and Rugby? No.

12 Dec 2016 09:03:21
Next he'll want their keepers to strap a dustbin lid to their gloves.

10 Dec 2016 15:12:04
Going to the U23's at Anfield on monday with my boy. Any idea's of team selection? Cheers boys.

10 Dec 2016 15:53:52
Too early to say as the coach just left. I would say it would be something like this: Grabara, Gomez, Illori, Sakho, Maguire, Williams, Chirivella, Brannagan, Ejaria, Woodburn, Wilson.

11 Dec 2016 13:43:24
Thanks for the reply.

10 Dec 2016 13:40:32
A my ten pence post.
We should keep karius in goal and give him the space he needs to grow. Unless we buy curtois or similar then we got a cheap keeper with huge potential that needs time, and fan understanding.

Also I'm petrified that we sell sturridge, he is absolutely world class. No one knows what's going on with injuries and yes I'm frustrated with it, but he's 27, if, granted a big if, we could get 2or 3 years out of him, relatively injury free, then he's worth 100 million in my book. The guy can finish.

Would we be so angry if suarez or Gerrard was injured? It's not his fault.
I say we have paid enough wages that whatever happens now is irrelevant. Keep praying them, because 20 million if we could get that is simply not enough.
Why is there no sturridge song?

**** me, we sang emre cans name when he scored, how many has the studge scored for us? What's his ratio? Onwards and upwards. big squad, big players please.

Believable9 Unbelievable4

10 Dec 2016 15:02:33
Agree 100% about Karius and Studge. Bang on. Keep Karius in goal and enjoy Studge when we can. Danny boy is worth way more than what any team would likely offer.

10 Dec 2016 16:24:41
Totally disagree on sturridge, its his fault that he is injured and may be he will be able to give you 2-3 years more as a world class player you think he is. Why not get someone who is good and can give you 6-7 years and 35-40 games a year. you r only showing your sentiments for the player not thinking about the long term and short term effect it will have if we get a player who is not constantly injured and gives 100% everytime. If you need someone to sit on the bench and play 10 games a year, i will do it for free and I can dance as well everytime i score that is if i'm ever fit.

10 Dec 2016 16:55:58
I've said it before and I'll say it again Studge is class when he turns up for work but he's always knocking and you no what would happen if you didn't clock in for work.

10 Dec 2016 18:32:15
Agree with the OP on Karius. Disagree with Studge. People keep saying Studge is a world class striker and will score goals.

I would like to ask them, "when exactly is he going to score the goals you speak off if he's always injured for half a season"? And why should he play ahead of Firmino and now Origi, who are scoring goals and doing all that Klopp requires of them? If a player regardless of his talent or record, cannot contribute either because he's made of glass or because he simply doesn't fit into the way we play, then sorry to say, he's of no use to us. It's shame because he's the best finisher in England but even Maradona would be useless to Napoli or Argentina if he was always injured.

Time and the EPL wait for no man or manager and if he can't even get on the pitch to even train or accept that he won't be the first or second choice (currently, Origi is ahead of him) then he should be let go and we'll eventually get over it. We can no longer afford to be carrying players anymore regardless of their talent if they can't even train nor contribute to the cause.

10 Dec 2016 19:50:25
The Sturridge of 2013/ 14 was definitely world class. The Sturridge of 2016/ 17 is definitely not. It's clear that when we're praising him (and I'm one of those), we're actually thinking of the 2013/ 14 version. I'm aware that he scored 13 goals last year from 25 games - but that still does not make him the indispensable, world-class Sturridge of 2013/ 14. At some point Klopp and team management have to make an assessment of whether the 2013/ 14 version is ever going to come back. We, the fans, can only hope he does.

11 Dec 2016 01:20:40
He could go as an extra on casualty.

10 Dec 2016 17:30:46
Agree vigression and nick on both Karius and sturridge, there is actually 2 songs for sturridge, the old fashioned 'STURRIDE' with hand clap and one to the same tune as the old Patrick Berger song but to be honest neither has been sung as loud or as long as they should have been, for some reason 'lesser' players seem to get more in the song stakes!

11 Dec 2016 04:34:57
Everyone always says this about Sturridge, then he comes back, scores two goals, wins us the game and reminds us all just how good he is.

I literally can't see any harm in keeping him.

In what way are we carrying him? Just because he can't contribute every game. Teams don't carry the rest of their squads that aren't in the starting 11.

11 Dec 2016 09:02:25
But Joe, aren't we paying him Ā£100k+ per week for nothing and have been for some time? Great player when fit but never actually seems to be fit - time to move him on, save a bit of cash and let him lurk on another teams medical bed.

11 Dec 2016 14:26:49
if he's not complaining about game time we should definitely keep him, he makes finishing look effortless besides his injury record makes him exspensive to acquire and maintain to most teams . I just feel if he's ok (he's surely not contented with his output) with his " second fiddle" role he should be allowed to stay.

10 Dec 2016 13:26:43
Hi eds,

Just a quick question with regards to Brannagan, I know he was pushing last year and was hoping for more involvement this year, but hasn't had much of a chance.

Is he not performing or is it more others are ahead of him at present?

Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - A lot was expected of Brannagan but the planned loan being called off has certainly disrupted this season and he is, as far as I am aware, back with the Under 21/23 squad at the moment so he will not be in the immediate plans.}

10 Dec 2016 12:17:34
Hey eds and reds hope you are all well! Shame about last week but look we're we are in the league only 4 points off top and in the semis of the league cup which we are probably favourites to win! It's not alll doom and gloom guys we still look the part. Just a question for ed001 If he's about just wanted your opinion on origi as a player please? When he first joined us I must say I wasn't too keen but under klopp he's a different player he has been managed superb and put on muscle and was unlucky with his injury last year. I think he posses real quality to become a top players he's quick, strong and seems to have that knack of been in the right place at the right time. Sorry I've rambled on abit here I've just grown to really love the lad and wondered if you and other reds thought the same.
Here's to a good weekend guys with a positive result! YNWA
Cheers.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I love Divvy mate! He has it all. Big, strong, quick, good in the air, excellent first touch, great skill and has good finishing. A friend of mine, who is a professional coach from Belgium, raves about him.}

10 Dec 2016 12:56:40
yes got to agree, Origi will keep on improving, and turn out to be an outstanding striker,
dont think were favourites to wim the League Cup, of course we want to win, just think that injuries will leave us second best, sorry .

10 Dec 2016 13:56:25
Origi is this fantastic blend of Drogba and Henry. Has the power of Drogba and the skill and composure of Henry. No, I'm not saying he's at their level, but he has the potential to be IMO.

10 Dec 2016 15:16:19
Thanks for the reply ed, glad I'm not the only one who loves him! And I agree he has everything and I think he can become a quality player for us I hope he bags a couple tomorrow. I can see why your friend raves about him the guys class.
Redforever I see your point mate fair enough, but I feel we have some unfinished business in the cup and think it will help our fight to win it.
Nickisared Yesh I'm totally with you mate he's not at their level yet but has massive potential.

10 Dec 2016 15:21:31
We haven't seen all those stuff yet.

Also not sure if he comes across as a natural goal scorer.

Currently he presses more than a Sturridge as a striker and bcoz of injuries is getting game time.

Think he should be playing more regularly at this age and with Klopp preferring Firminio and his like not sure how it is going to pan out.

Cheers.

10 Dec 2016 18:42:54
Sami if you haven't seen those qualities in Origi yet, then go watch his games more closely as I and many others have done and trust me, the kid is special. He's still raw and very talented and the combo of Drogba and Henry describe his talent and potential perfect.

He will be a beast if he keeps learning and maintains the fantastic attitude he has. Him being a natural goalscore is a matter of time as Drogba was not the finished article until he got more experienced by playing more and learning in the process.

As for Studge, what he can or can't do is not Origi's problem as he's there to compete and Klopp is there to pick a team he thinks can play his style and win matches. He owes Studge nothing. Studge has not proved that he should play ahead of Firmino and Origi and if that doesn't change, the bench is where he belongs if he ever gets out of the treatment room.

10 Dec 2016 19:04:45
After his hat-trick against Southampton last year, I had posted that I saw a future Drogba in Origi. He has done nothing to change my mind. He is clearly progressing and getting better, and he's still only 21! I think it's a mistake to assume he's getting playing time only because Sturridge is out. The kid has genuine bona fide merits.

10 Dec 2016 19:57:02
A friend of mine (who is apparently a Liverpool fan) tells me Origi is a donkey who can't dribble, shoot or head the ball. I've been telling him that Origi will be the best striker in the premier league in 3 years time and nothing I've seen so far has changed my mind.

11 Dec 2016 01:30:04
Hes top class and already a handful for any defence. He's definitely on the upward curve .
whereas Sturridge is on a downward curve. The injuries are getting stranger and more frequent.

But he is without doubt still a gamechanger who could turn a match at any level.
I'd say he is worth keeping but the days of him being ahead of Origi in the pecking order are gone for good.

11 Dec 2016 02:38:32
I wasn't saying he is bad but comparisons to Drogba and Henry at this time is not correct.

We all know the award he got at Lille not long back.

I was impressed with Martial last time but with JM not sure how he will progress.

Again Micky B at chelsea is not getting much game time.

I fell all three of them should be playing day in day out at this stage.

All three of them get compared to Drogba/ Henry at diff times. Time will tell how they will progress.

Cheers.

11 Dec 2016 04:27:19
Of course the comparisons can be correct. I'm comparing skill-sets, not how actually good he is compared to Drogba and Henry.

09 Dec 2016 23:19:36
Hi EDs hope you're well!
I've just seen the news regarding Draxler and that he will leave Wolfsburg for ā‚¬35m
I was just wondering whether he would be a possible replacement in the event of Coutinho leaving?
Thanks anyway.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has no interest in Draxler and there is a very good chance that two clubs will be making offers in January although Wolfburg want him to stay through to the summer.}

10 Dec 2016 11:34:00
Arsenal I guess mate. One of those names you know always ends up at the Emirates ā˜ŗļø.

10 Dec 2016 12:57:55
Massively massively over rated.

10 Dec 2016 15:27:19
Calhanoglu on the other hand.

{Ed002's Note - Hakan Calhanoglu is another player that Liverpool has shown no interest in and an approach from another Premier League side a few weeks ago was rebuffed.)

10 Dec 2016 16:07:47
Julian Brandt is the only player I would touch from there. Terrific player for his age and he would become workd class in couple of years time.

10 Dec 2016 18:44:50
Harry, I agree as Brandt is some player. Watched him at the U20 World Cup last year and at the Olympics. He is very good and talented.

09 Dec 2016 20:06:28
Question for Ed002 - I just read an opinion from a footballer from the 60's and 70's that Jurgen Klopp was essentially a "one trick pony". And I immediately thought of some of your statements from last season where you mentionned that Klopp had to adapt and change his methods/ tactics according to situations (I'm summarizing not quoting) . Do you think Klopp has changed his approach to football, and how LFC should be playing, or is he essentially the same?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - It is essentially the same.}

10 Dec 2016 13:02:34
think that when we do get beat, as much as the team has to learn from it, then so does the manager, at 3 1, 15 mins to go, we should have closed the game, we had so many players going forward, when we should have thought about defending our lead, and bagging the three points, Mane went off, did Klopp make the right sub? , don't think so .

10 Dec 2016 18:55:38
Thanks, Ed002. We're in agreement. I'm an unequivocal supporter of Klopp. I firmly believe the man has turned LFC around. But some things make me uneasy. Let's leave it at that for now.

11 Dec 2016 01:40:26
When Manne came off the team lost the attacking thrust that kept the ball and Boremouth up the pitch away from our goal. We dropped back and tried to hard to catch them on the break.
It might be a valuable lesson better learned now than later in May.

The international borefest really broke our moentum along with stupid injuries to key players.

10 Dec 2016 06:14:26
{Ed's Note - We have posted a new article entitled, Weekend Premier League Preview

Believable2 Unbelievable0

10 Dec 2016 07:41:05
Struggle to judge distances? Yeah if that is the case, I agreed that away teams should face the same struggles as well, only that they seem not. Thanks for the previews, Ed01.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate, Bilic did say it was about spatial awareness, made me laugh.}

10 Dec 2016 07:46:52
Thanks ed1, brilliant as always mate.

{Ed001's Note - thank you.}

10 Dec 2016 08:13:45
Cresswell and Antonio are ins now, I was hoping it would be one too soon for them.

10 Dec 2016 08:14:33
Big match for Liverpool. Can't widen the gap at the top of the table. Good work Ed01 šŸ˜Ž.

{Ed001's Note - cheers.}

10 Dec 2016 02:14:32
Banter please.

Enough of the whinging. I come to the sight to not listen to the wife, come on here and I have a few dozen. Last week was simple. While Sane was on the pitch they weren't able to throw it all at us knowing if they did they'd get burned. Once he was off so we're they. As bad as we played the final 15 minutes they played extremely well. They deserved it. They outsmarted us, were patient in allowing their chance to come. We should have finished the game off but we didn't. Kari's made mistakes, and we lose the plot and need him to be carrying a cross through the streets. Pretty soon there will be the stations at Anfield for the player who erred that week. Everyone take a deep breath. Point out the mistakes but let's not go off the edge. Bring on the Hammers. We know it'll be tough and physical and they'll attempt to kick us off the pitch. Let's see how we react. I know this, Klopp will have them ready to run riot and set the tone for the next month. Cheer all.
