Hi Eds.
The Real Madrid v Dortmund was on Irish Tv tonight and one of the commentators mentioned that the word around Dortmund is that a player called Sokratiz may be coming to Anfield in January.

Have you heard this from any of your sources?
Tks for the great sites.

{Ed002's Note - No. Dortmund are more than happy to move Subotic on and only a failed medical blocked a move to Middlsbrough in the summer - they are still interested.}

1.) 08 Dec 2016 11:18:48

Did you mean Subotic or Sokratis Papadopoulos? I know which I'd prefer!

2.) 08 Dec 2016 19:02:57
Hi Graemem.
The second one.

On his shirt it says Sokratis. Probably couldn't fit the surname on the shirt

The commentator sounded fairly definite about it.
Saying that the word out of Dortmund is that Klopp wants Sokratis at Anfield.

3.) 09 Dec 2016 14:27:05
Is that the same player we were looking into 3-ish years ago who was having injury issues?

{Ed002's Note - Yes Colin.}

4.) 09 Dec 2016 15:32:41
Colin I think the lad you are referring to was kyriakos papa.
Ed's is it true about LFC bidding for
Franck Kessié as reported in Italy?
If not are the club interested in him?

{Ed002's Note - Atalanta say there have been no offers but they have been approached by two clubs and are aware of the interest of others. Liverpool are not one of the two clubs.}

5.) 10 Dec 2016 03:21:16
If true that Sokratz had a decent game till he got a kicking in the second half.

There has been NO word of it on the inter net since then .
So ther may be some truth in it.

Hi Eds and fans.

Is there any talj about us moving for Koeman.

I think he got the lot as a manager/ coach.

Plus he is hugely respected throughout Europe and has had a stellar playing career which potential signings would take into consideration.

Unlike our present incumbent philosopher

{Ed001's Note - no, none.}

Hi Eds and reds.

I was just wondering how Jack Dunn has been performing since his return from loan?

I thought he was a top prospect.

{Ed001's Note - from what I am told, he has done ok, but it is likely he will have to move on, unless he does something to change that over the second half of the season. He might even get a move this January, if the right one can be found for him.}

1.) 21 Jan 2017 14:37:23
Whe you said 'give the blues a watch' you lost every shred of respectability :)

16 Jan 2017 23:08:58
Hi Eds and reds
I wonder what's the view on Klopp doing all these adverts on tv.

Are the companies linked to LFC like standard charter or are they separate deals between Klopp and the companies?

I'm sure that Klopp is very well paid as our manager so I was wondering if the need isn't financial what is it?

{Ed002's Note - I rarely watch television and certainly would never watch a channel that had adverts Dermot.}

1.) 17 Jan 2017 01:48:39
Thanks for the reply Ed.

I was just wondering what is his motivation for doing this extra 'work' is for want of a better word?
It can't be financial as I'm sure he is well paid by the club.
It just seems odd to me.

Ps. Top Top site.

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know what this extra work is Dermot. Has anyone with big blonde hair and glasses tried to touch you where the nurse at school tried to touch you?}

2.) 17 Jan 2017 07:01:32
Dermot if someone offered you £30,000 for saying a sentence or two for an advert, would you turn it down?

3.) 17 Jan 2017 07:12:44
No more unusual than Lallana advertising a face cream.

As long as he's focussed on his job with LFC I don't care and in my opinion Klopp is very focussed.

4.) 17 Jan 2017 09:57:53
yes Dermot if you are talking about the Betvictor adverts then he probably does them due to the company's affiliation to the club

5.) 17 Jan 2017 10:34:48
He also does them with new balance.

6.) 17 Jan 2017 11:00:39
The adverts Klopp does are for a bookies (I think he talks about "first goal wins") who are in partnership with Liverpool.

They have some kind of sponsorship deal with Liverpool, not sure on the details exactly.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are sponsored by a bookmaker called BetVictor.}

7.) 17 Jan 2017 11:51:52
Ed002's Note - I really don't know what this extra work is Dermot. Has anyone with big blonde hair and glasses tried to touch you where the nurse at school tried to touch you?

Classic response from Ed

8.) 17 Jan 2017 16:11:03
Managers do commercials and adverts all the time, just like players and celebrities. Nothing to see here.

{Ed002's Note - The reason for the fuss is the nature of the company.}

9.) 17 Jan 2017 19:32:39
I agree Ed, I don't like seeing Klopp advertising a bookie. I don't like the team being sponsored by them either. But it is what it is - a bank sponsor is hardly on a moral higher plane. For a modern football club they seem to be necessary evils - I'm just glad it's not a "payday loan" company, in my mind the bottom of an unpleasant little pile.

{Ed002's Note - I don't think you will find that banks take money from folks who often can't afford it in the generally forlorn hope of winning more. If you want a business of a similar moral standing perhaps the "pay day" loan company that Newcastle got involved with.}

10.) 17 Jan 2017 21:04:33
He also does adverts with Opel/ Vauxhaul and has done since he was in Germany. If I could make money from who I am I would too.

11.) 18 Jan 2017 04:10:44
Yes Ed.

The last time I was touched by a large blonde European was in 1995 at
My stag do in Berlin.

Achtzehn DM und ja es war toll.

01 Jan 2017 02:02:51
Hi eds and reds
Any news on Hendersons injury?

{Ed001's Note - apparently it was his heel again. Worrying.}

1.) 01 Jan 2017 08:25:18
Looked his mouth Yano. He didn't have any issues walking. I thought he had a tooth knocked out or summit.

{Ed001's Note - it may have looked like that (and I did wonder why he was coming off for what looked to be a mouth injury as well), but they have said it was a heel problem.}

2.) 01 Jan 2017 09:10:38
Klopp apparently confirmed that it was not the same heel that caused him issues last season.

3.) 01 Jan 2017 13:32:40
It could be both injuries.

He may have contracted Harry's foot in mouth disease?

29 Dec 2016 23:49:46
Hi Eds.
Is there any update on Lucas?
Its all gone quiet does that mean its on?

20 Dec 2016 03:07:24
Hi Eds and Reds.

Am important win tonight not at our best Everton were thuggish in their approach to the game.

Do you think Santa could bring youg Jurgen a Seamus Coleman for crimbo.
He seems to have everything Klopp looks for in a player?
Dou you rate him?

{Ed001's Note - is Klopp looking for a dirty player who has not played well in 3 years then?}

1.) 20 Dec 2016 08:32:09
What about Trent Alexander Arnold? Joe Gomez can cover right back, as can James Milner; Jon Flanagan might struggle to get back in Klopp's plans when he returns from loan. I think we have good cover for Clyne already at LFC, so right back wouldn't be high on my Christmas wish list for positions to cover. Merry Christmas Reds!

2.) 20 Dec 2016 23:04:37
I'll take it that you don't rate him so.
Thanks for the reply.

Hi Eds.
Maybe Klopp withdrew Karius for his long time benefit?

Migs is definitely not the answer and never was but surely there are people at the club who have noticed that even with the competition of Karius in training he is still falling way short of ok.

Houllier destroyed Liverpool.

And nearly killed himself doing it.

His signings were horrific

Replacing Players like Robbieand Macca with the likes Of Dioff and Diamond. Checkout (the new Zidane)
Bislang. Trarore.
I could go on and on.

He even tried to take credit for Discovering Stevie G. Even though Stevie had captained the England under age teams.

He shafted Roy Evans.

I'm getting cross just remembering.

Moores should have got Kenny back alongside Roy.

He's still young. (Can)
Keep the faith.
I agree it's tough going at the moment but things will improve and top 4 is still a very realistic possibility.

We have had bad times before under worse managers such as Souness, Houllier and Rodgers who all spent way more money on bringing in the solution to the problems.

I think Klopp deserves credit for using the young lads who even in defeat are learning vital lessons, gaining experience and at the same time been assessed at the higher level.
It's impossible to say that a player setting the u23 alight will slot straight in the senior team but there is only one real way to find out and that's by giving them a run of games.

It's been a quiet window so far.

Do you think Middlesbroughs Gaston Ramirez would boost our squad?

He is the kind of attacking midfielder we need and has prem experience and at 26 is the finished article in terms of development

Apparently he's put in a transfer request.

If its true that we're negotiating a new contract with Coulsdon. That means he's off in the summer.
The club is only covering itself with a higher buy out clause.
The lad will get higher wages as well but that won't matter if he goes.

Would Gotze improve the first team options? On his last year's performances you'd have to say no. Maybe less an injury risk than Sturridge but hardly the same quality.

If we get champions league football the squad will have to increase in numbers.
I know we had injuries this year but even with just domestic football to deal with we looked stretchEd.

I read up to 6 players would be needed.
That's some investment.

Karius is Klopp's no. 1.
He is young and Klopp sees potential in him.
He appears very weak on catching or punching from crosses.
In the later games during bis last spell in the 1st team he got so rattled he didn't even try to attack the hall but stayed rooted to the spot.

Migs while at first rising to the challenge of serious competition for the no.1 spot still causes nervousness to seep through the side as his distribution with the ball at his feet is very poor.

The club gave him a 5 year contract when Klopp came in and as I don't think he will get anything like the wages elsewhere so I think he is ours for the long term.

Maybe both keepers would benefit from having a settled back 4 in front of them.
Lovren for all his hard work seems to be unsettled very easily and causes the keepers to be uncertain and leads to stupid mistakes.

Matip seemed to be a steadying influence but has struggled with injuries at crucial times.

The u23 set up does not really prepare the young lads of any club properly for life in the first team.

I know the intention is to have a larger pool of younger talent playing regularly with a few senior pros who are recovering from injury or having discipline issues.
but I think the old reserve or B. team set up was better
Where the balance of youth and experience could be more flexible and the young lads were playing against and training with seasoned pros week after week.
