Hi Eds, I read that Can is waiting for Liverpool to agree a release clause or similar before he will commit to a new contract.

Ed2 has suggested that they have no legal basis in the UK. I am no expert, could you please explain whether Can is looking for this and if so, why that may be, if they have no basis in the UK?

mikey B

{Ed001's Note - I have not heard anything about him wishing for a release clause sorry.}

1.) 06 Sep 2017 13:23:48
Do you know why Can has not signed a new contract Ed001?
And, in your opinion, do you think he will sign or will he leave for nothing at the end of the season.

Y. N. W. A.

{Ed001's Note - I have answered this a hundred times.}

2.) 06 Sep 2017 14:14:17
He's lost his pen vcromp. Club won't supply a new one and have told him it will come out of Clyne's wages if they have to. Clyne was angry at being dragged into it and retaliated by stabbing Klopp in the thigh with a fountain pen. Klopp lost his cool. Took off his hipster glass and smashed Clyne through the treatment table with a Batista bomb.

Whole situation is messy. Clyne is in a coma, Can still doesn't have a pen, and Klopp is being investigated by the WWE for a dangerous unscripted move.

James Milner, witness to the whole thing, has been quoted as saying "i have a pen he can borrow"

3.) 06 Sep 2017 14:42:08
You are in desperate need of some holidays. Preferably where there is only seas, sun and sand, with no humans around. And plenty of time to reflect on what other interests to pursue aside from football in your free time, because football is bringing out the violent side in you.

4.) 06 Sep 2017 14:42:33
VR he's worried about playing time. He sees Keita has just been signed and he'd be an immediate starter for Juventus. I like the lad a lot, but I think he would be even better in the black and white stripes. I want him to stay however.

5.) 06 Sep 2017 16:19:02
He hasn't signed as non of the incompetants in the lfc player contracts dept has asked him yet.

6.) 06 Sep 2017 16:37:11
If you can't get in liverpools team why would you get in juventus.

{Ed001's Note - because they have told him he will.}

7.) 06 Sep 2017 17:28:11
Just give him the 100 grand a week and a fair release clause and be done with it. Cheaper than buying a replacement and he is going to just keep getting better.

{Ed002's Note - I have not said that they have no legal basis in the UK. You all need to forget about clauses.}

8.) 06 Sep 2017 18:20:03
Accept that he's going. If he was going to stay he would of signed by now. He knows he's not going to be 1st choice next year that's y he's off end of.

9.) 06 Sep 2017 18:36:06
Is that how it works ed1? that's surprised me how a team can guarentee a player he will start all the time.

{Ed001's Note - if a team really wants a player they will do a lot to convince them to join.}

10.) 06 Sep 2017 19:50:01
I think a hundred times is a conservative estimate to be honest but yeah, this must be driving you mad by now.

11.) 06 Sep 2017 21:25:59
Ed didn't we tell Grujic he'd get games among others.

{Ed002's Note - yes and the WP committee.}

12.) 06 Sep 2017 23:14:34
I don't see how any teams can guarantee playing time. If you are looking poor in training you won't be risked in anything other than minor cup games or occasional sub.

13.) 07 Sep 2017 00:03:35
This whole game time thing winds me up. If you want to play then work your nuts off, improve enough so you can't be dropped. That's the only way. If you're going to whinge about not playing instead of knuckling down and working on your game then you can do one as far as I'm concerned.

14.) 07 Sep 2017 01:02:30

Was it just a pen, or an apple-pen?

{Ed001's Note - it was a Mont-Blanc mate. Apple pen my arse, footballers don't want cheap tat like that!}

15.) 07 Sep 2017 01:21:16
Cant they give him say £2m lump sum to sign new contract. Then sell for £40m. Rather than squabble and lose him for free or £20m in jan.

16.) 07 Sep 2017 05:16:33
Something is very very wrong if we can't give our best midfielder the same guarantees as Juventus.

17.) 07 Sep 2017 06:56:33
Haizan, unsubstantiated reports this morning are suggesting the the fountain pen removed from Jurgen's thigh has the words "From Brazil with love" inscribed down the side.

Coutinho has denied any involvement but there was a bank transfer of £7.56 between himself and Clyne just 2 days ago.

The plot thickens.

18.) 07 Sep 2017 08:05:10
i think you may have missed what Haizan was trying to say ed001.

i believe he was referring to a viral video named Pen Pineapple Apple Pen.

i may be wrong, bt u didn't hear this from me. its a horrible video. don't watch it. just dont.

{Ed001's Note - erm.....}

19.) 07 Sep 2017 08:32:27
I have a pen,
I have an apple,
Apple Pen!

I have a pen,
I have pineapple,
Pineapple pen!

Pen pineapple, apple pen!

Yeah don't watch it Ed001. It ruins your social life. I haven't been out in 6 months.

{Ed001's Note - I am really getting worried for people's sanity.}

20.) 07 Sep 2017 08:42:08
It's the best song to come out of Asia since 'Gangnam style' mate!

21.) 07 Sep 2017 10:12:09
Any team can promise a player game time doesn't mean to say he will get it once he signs a 5 year deal. and i had to laugh when someone said our Best midfielder i have said it a few times he isn't fit to wear the shirt he has had a handful of good games since he got here. let him go in January, but of course he can talk to any foreign clubs in Jan and sign a pre contract agreement to sign in the summer. players come and go but the team is the most important. YNWA.

22.) 07 Sep 2017 12:04:53
MK Scouser, thanks for your WWe based comment, I've had a shitty day at work and that made me giggle.

23.) 07 Sep 2017 12:07:36
Hope he stays, if even for the future transition of hendo, lallana and Milner. Hope he is looking at that and seeing he, along with keita are the very near future engine room for liverpool.

24.) 07 Sep 2017 12:16:06
Jack Bezants from Mailonline (Don't shoot me) insists the issue with Can's contract is a release clause.

It could be that he wants a release clause, in case he does not get the game time he desires - giving him a way out.

25.) 07 Sep 2017 12:47:43
Even if the club agree to a clause something i can't see them being against as it would mean they would recieve a fee when he moves on there will be a multitude of excuses for not signing. can has had no intention of signing for a long time. complete stupidity by lfc lettin it get this far. edwards is world class according to werner.

26.) 07 Sep 2017 16:14:57
I think we've misinterpreted why MK mentioned the pen.

It was "iron" -it was firm, it was mineral. No, no, no, that's stupid. It was. It was firm, it was adamant, it was resolved.

It was resolved.

Jurgen Klopp used the Pen to sign the Declaration of Independence :o.

27.) 07 Sep 2017 20:33:25
Didt Glenda Johnson have a appearance clause in his contract guaranteeing him playing time.

28.) 08 Sep 2017 02:47:51
Wish Can reads this and runs away to Juventus with his pen, apple and pineapple.

This site should be thanked for making space for others.

29.) 08 Sep 2017 06:34:06
I players wanting assurances that they are being signed as a starting player, to be played in their regular position and no plans to sign other starting players in same role; is being confused with a player expecting to play regardless. I don't think even footballers think they will play every game regardless, (with some very few exceptions) and I would expect they understand the flip side of that would be the manager would be able to say they have to play even when they don't want to. It is not so different to any of us going for a job where they give a range of roles and we want to understand what the split of our time is likely to be. You don't sign to be benching or out of position and back up if you want to be playing regularly. Can as the Eds have said sees that as what he'd be signing up to at LFC.

10 Dec 2016 16:09:29
I hear rumours that West Ham are considering a bid for Sturridge. Is this likely and would Liverpool and the player consider it?

I love him but he is not a Klopp first team player.

If he were to go do you think Liverpool would replace him or wait till Summer?

mikey B

1.) 11 Dec 2016 09:33:38
No chance.

2.) 12 Dec 2016 08:40:47
I think it is likely and i think should they bid we'd be daft to not consider it.

21 Jun 2016 11:33:51

I hear coutinho is off to PSG. They seem to buy all Brazilians. Is this true and likely to happen?

mikey B

1.) 21 Jun 2016 12:42:07
Sure they can have him. For £65 mil.

2.) 21 Jun 2016 15:19:03
You say that like they wouldn't pay that for him natural. wouldn't even dent their funds.
Was Coutinho playing in Copa America before Brazil were knocked out?
Not seen mich of the Euros never mind the Copa America, was wondering about his form for Brazil because he didn't have a sensational season for us. Played well but also went missing for patches.

3.) 21 Jun 2016 15:46:33
He did score a hat trick. granted it was in a 7-1 route of Haiti.

4.) 21 Jun 2016 15:50:24
I'm saying that as a figure (in my mind) I'd be happy with. A figure I believe would allow us to not only reinvest, but improve.
On the other hand. I clearly don't want to lose our best player.

5.) 21 Jun 2016 16:37:14
Depends how you define "best" player someone who turns up every 6th week then yep he's nailed it.

6.) 21 Jun 2016 17:18:47
after reading the posts on here about Couthino it seems no matter what he does he is doing something wrong, he is a young lad and played so many games for us last season and you could see that the last few games of the season he was feeling jaded, he gets stick because he does not score enough goals, so when he starts shooting he then gets stick about not assisting in many goals, so we can't have both from a young player, for me he is our best player and will get better, if we sell him he will leave a big hole that will be hard to fill, I've watched him play and he never gets any credit for winning the ball back which he does a lot, but like suarez because he is good the big teams are looking at him, he has come out and said he is happy at the club and likes playing for Klopp, plus what Klopp does is gets the best out of players and makes them better players as we seen when he became our manager because a lot of players were not playing that good but when Klopp came he got the best out of them, you only have to look at the way Lovren got better, at one point a lot of fans wanted him gone because he was not playing that good but after klopp got into him he was one of the most improved players at the end of the season because Lovren and Sakho became our main CB pairing who played well with each other so i say let's give Couthino another season under Klopp and because we have no european football he won't play as many games so we will see the best of him, he is not like hendo or milner who have good engines on them he's just not like that but he is our best player imo so we should keep him.

7.) 21 Jun 2016 18:08:05
65 million so we can waste it on mid table players that had 1 decent season yet again.

8.) 21 Jun 2016 18:46:35
Yipster, I'm sensing an underlying sentiment here. 😬😬😬.

9.) 21 Jun 2016 21:07:11
Coutinho - great pro, great talent, young lad who has yet to reach his peak.

PSG can go and whistle.

10.) 22 Jun 2016 00:02:35
He was the best of a severely poor excuse for a Selecao team. PSG ain't paying 65m for him especially if he's not their first or second choice.

11.) 22 Jun 2016 14:13:09
If you think we're going to get £65 million for Coutinho then you need rehab.

Hi All, I am taking my nephew to the Spurs game. His first trip to wembley. Any of you guys know where the away fans will go for a pint before the game?

mikey B

{Ed002's Note - "There are a number of pubs near Wembley, though we are yet to see which of them become the traditional ‘away pub’ during the forthcoming season. Please note, however, that some bars require club colours to be covered and some do not allow children."

1.) 13 Oct 2017 12:18:38
I live near wembley - and i suggest going to 'the Torch' that's usually where the england fans go for a pint. No idea if Spurs have made it their own pub though.

30 Aug 2017 08:52:39
Reds and Eds, I am a little concerned.
I feel that we do not really need to sign Lemar and absolutely do not need the OX.

I would rather we make commitments to Can as he is developing in to a real force.

If we sign a decent centre half and then concentrate on Can extending, that would be the best outcome for me. Whether Couts goes or stays, I think Can is the most important signing.

What do you guys think?

mikey B

{Ed001's Note - Lemar is a totally different type of player to Can. The two are totally unrelated.}

1.) 30 Aug 2017 09:19:06
Comparing Lemar to Can is like comparing David Silva to Fernandinho! What is happening to the most knowledgable fans these days, I wonder 🙄.

2.) 30 Aug 2017 09:29:04
Sorry I think I have not communicated properly. I do not compare Lemar to Can, it is more my thought that we do not need to prioritise Lemar or the Ox. I personally feel we have enough across midfield (especially with Keita next year and youngsters coming through) . As such, I would prefer we focus on a defender and getting Can to commit to a new contract. If that happened I would say the window had been a very successful window.

3.) 30 Aug 2017 09:55:16
I think signing Lemar, VVD and keeping Can are priorities. Forget buying AOC and that would suit me, having signed Solanke, Robertson, Salah and Kieta (coming next year I know) that would be good business - even with the departure of Coutinho.
I am concerned we did not accept the £25mil for Sakho - let him go and restart his career. Would like to see the players that don't fit as such move on.

4.) 30 Aug 2017 10:06:00
Harry, have you ever heard the saying "that's rich coming from you"?

Very popular in British culture.

30 Nov 2016 14:25:32
I am glad to see people on here are not over doing the fact that Woodburn scored last night. There are lots of articles floating around about the impact Klopp is having in the youth set up.

Seeing Woodburn and A-Arnold playing last night is a great omen for the future.

I wonder if the eds, or any other informed reds may be able to give a balanced view of some of the prospects who are coming through the academy?

The ones to watch as it were?

Also any thoughts on whether Flanno has a future with the club?

mikey B

1.) 30 Nov 2016 16:25:38
Much as it pains me, I'm not sure Flano has a future, certainly as a RB.

With Clyne and not TAA, I think that position is sown up for a few years to come.

Such a shame as I think Flano is a great player, but in my mind he's not attacking enough to fit the Klopp system.

A year or two ago, there was talk of him as a DM, and if that is a position he can/ wants to play, I can see him pushing Lucas and Stewart for that role.

Again, unlikely as its not his natural position (has he every played there, Eds? ) and it would be a heart over head choice as he's a scouser and has come up through the ranks.

{Ed001's Note - he played there for a while, prior to the injury crisis which forced Rodgers to give him a go at full back. Flanno would play in goal, if Liverpool asked him to. The lad just desperately wants to play for Liverpool. He proved he was good enough and his goal against Spurs surely shows he has the attacking quality needed as well?}

2.) 30 Nov 2016 17:28:09
Good point on Spurs, Ed, forgot about that. Do you think he has a future with us? In an ideal world, he would have the RB position and TAA would be challenging him. However, Clyne seems to be growing into the role and will be difficult to dislodge, or certainly Klopp seems to think so?

Also, above, I meant to type "With Clyne and NOW TAA", not "not"!

{Ed001's Note - personally, if Flanno was at his best I believe he would be first choice right now, but he is not back to his best yet and it takes time after a long injury to recover. Recent studies have shown that an ACL injury changes the way the brain uses the legs and requires retraining to ever return to normal.

“The brain fundamentally changed in how it processes information from an injured knee,” said Dustin Grooms, Ph.D, a researcher who conducted the study at Ohio State and is currently employed at Ohio University. “We think those changes play a big role in why people who recover from ACL injuries don’t trust their knees entirely and tend to move them differently.”

The above is a quote from a study recently published in the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy. It shows why players face such a long road back to their best after such serious injuries. Flanno has the desire, he has the will to do it, so I do believe, in time, he can be back to something like his best, but I don't believe we are willing to give him that time. Sadly I think he will end up moving on, though he is potentially far better than Clyne. Unless he returns to something approaching his best before the season ends, I think he will end up leaving.}

3.) 30 Nov 2016 18:55:02
Surely jurgen knows how much he loves the club and will give both flanagan and ings the support they deserve. Just because they can't offer anything on the pitch for a while, does not mean we cast them off. We look after our own and hopefully that will reap its own rewards.

10 Nov 2016 14:22:31
Is Glen Johnson seriously being considered by Bareclona?

Good luck to the lad, I wish him all the best; I just don't see him as a Barcelona player?

mikey B

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona have other options in mind and are already talking with another Premier League club about a player. I suspect it would be most unlikely.}

1.) 10 Nov 2016 15:54:24
Thee is a young left back called Alberto Moreno at Liverpool. Pretty good player, do you think it may be him that Barcelona are looking at?

2.) 10 Nov 2016 20:02:32
Yeah. But only for working at the hot dog stand.

30 Oct 2016 21:40:11
Along the lines of the best liverpool team since the 96 Evans class. I am too young to remember the team of the 70s and early 80s, so my favourite was under Benitez.

Alonso, Masch, gerrard and Torres in his pomp. A great defense, just missing width.

If Benitez had not pissed off Alonso and sold him I think we would have won the title.

What do you all think?

mikey B

1.) 30 Oct 2016 22:02:59
It was a great team, but I sincerely believe the team we have riggght now is even better.

2.) 30 Oct 2016 22:43:30
Also believe if Benitez had got the targets he was after, then we would have got close. I don't mean Gareth Barry btw.

3.) 31 Oct 2016 00:14:01
That squad just lacked the right depth tbh, i agree with bobby, if rafa was able to get some of his targets i think we may have went on to win it. I don't however agree that our squad right now is better. We may be more of a threat going forward but that was a solid team all over the park front to back. The GK was the best we had in years and we still haven't replaced him, we have never had a settled back four like we had in that team which was miles better than what we have now let's be honest. That midfield, well there's no debate, anyone that thinks our midfield now even comes close to that is deluded. Torres alone was a bigger threat than anyone we have now individually, but as a whole, our offence is greater now than it was then. What i will say is that its a very different team that focuses on a different style of play. The quality of football has delclined in the premier league therefore teams that can't defend to save their life can challange, but not win the league. The quality was far greater then but not as entertaining, premier league is by far the most entertaining legue in the world bar none.

4.) 30 Oct 2016 22:52:59
Raffa had no choice but to sell the clubs prize assets as Gillette and Hicks put all the debt they used to buy the club back on the club.
So all our transfer kittys were spent paying off the interest on their loans
A proper pair of c@#$ s
Promises were made to Raffa that were never kept.
Thsts why Alonso and Machrrano moved on.
I'm happy now with Klopp but I reckon Raffa would now do s great job as
Good luck to him at Newcastle.
And it'll be great to see him back next year.

5.) 30 Oct 2016 23:44:59
Can one of the eds let me know the truth about an old rumour. TO do with Alonso not wanting to go to play in a game away v Barcelona as his wife was about to give birth. I hear Benitez made him go and they fell out which (added to the fact Benitez tried to sell him to fund buying Barry (utter madness) ) led to Alonso wanting out. Ed Pls can you elaborate?

{Ed001's Note - Xabi never went, that was why they fell out. He went to his child's birth instead. I can't remember which game it was though.}

6.) 31 Oct 2016 00:34:45
I don't think this team is close to the one Rafa assembled with Torres, Alonso etc but saying that i don't think this team needs to be anywhere near that level to win the league. Chelsea, United Arsenal etc where far better teams then than they are now.

7.) 31 Oct 2016 04:14:15
Rafa's team was the most complete team we had in past 20 years. Alonso-Masch-Gerrard the best midfield ever.

8.) 31 Oct 2016 07:04:27
Alonso skipped the Inter game i think Ed001. To be fair to him, we already had the tie wrapped up in the first leg from what i remember.

{Ed001's Note - it was the birth of his child. To be fair to him, family is the most important thing in life and Rafa knows that now and has admitted since he got it wrong.}

9.) 31 Oct 2016 08:01:15
Precisely what i said Ed001. We were going through against Inter irrespective of whether Xabi played or not so Rafa definitely messed that up. Good to know that Rafa acknowledged his mistake on that. Don't know what was worse; getting rid of Xabi or trying to replace him with frigging Gareth Barry!

{Ed001's Note - losing Xabi was the big problem. He was a class above anyone else in the world at that time, in his role in the team.}

10.) 31 Oct 2016 08:12:19
You are wrong Ed001. Losing Xabi was THE ONLY PROBLEM in our squad back then. Gerrard and Mascherano completely fell apart after Xabi left and it cost our team 2 and a half world class players. Even worse, there was not even a half decent replacement available in the market back then. There is Verrati now, but even he is ordinary compared to what Xabi could do.

{Ed001's Note - Mash was never that good anyway, Alonso made him look good as he was always there covering for his headless chicken runs.}

11.) 31 Oct 2016 08:23:38
Imagine that team with a present-day Klopp at the helm. Nothing against Rafa but Jurgen seems to get an extra 10% out of his players.

12.) 31 Oct 2016 08:59:18
I agree Annie, though I liked Rafa and wish him all the best, compared to Klopp he's far behind, to of had that kind of team under Klopp it'd of been a different story. But the exciting thing to me about this, is he's improving the team week in week out, just look at Hendo to me he's just improving and improving he's outstanding at the moment and I beleive he will just keep getting better not to mention the rest of the squad, the team we have today in my eyes is better then the team rafa had or atleast it has more potential, our defence improves we're more or less complete.

13.) 31 Oct 2016 09:56:33
Rafa would have won the EL against Sevilla by 1-0 Absolutely no question on it and if people think he is not better than klopp needs a head check. I love klopp but tactically Rafa is some country miles better than rest.

14.) 31 Oct 2016 10:29:18
I agree with you Harry 100%.

15.) 31 Oct 2016 10:37:17
Harry I couldn't disagree more, another ridiculous post from you. Yes rafa was good there's no doubt about that. But better then Klopp I think you need to give your head a bang mate. How can you say rafa would've won it against them lol stupid statement.

16.) 31 Oct 2016 10:47:06
Not sure how is that a ridiculous post LFC16. Its my opinion and fact. Rafa knows how to see out a game at 1-0. You are too young to rememeber Rafa did such against some heavyweights during his tenure. He beat a Barcelona 2-0, Inter 1-0 and Real 1-0. Sevilla is no match.
Once you score a goal and then you realise you are being pressed high up by the oppostiion, You make tactical changes to prevent such.

17.) 31 Oct 2016 15:31:50
Too young to remember? Let's not argue about who is older now kidda lol. Tell me how it's fact when it didn't happen?

18.) 31 Oct 2016 17:31:19
What did not happen LFC16. Rafa all in his life has won football matches due his tactical brilliance. He wijldcgsvd walked away with EL against Sevilla. There are only very few who could tactically outclass Rafa.

19.) 31 Oct 2016 19:10:14
Yes Harry and Klopp is one of them mate.

20.) 01 Nov 2016 01:23:58
Harry, you have no idea if Rafa would have beaten Sevilla so your post makes no sense. Very few who can outclass Rafa? I know Carlo outclassed him in the CL final vs Milan and so did Luis Enrique when he got hammered at Real vs Barcelona and many more I can't remember right now. You seem to make a lot of generalizations and blanket statements in your posts which make very little sense. Btw, you opinion cannot at the same time be a fact. No wonder the Ed's and many others give you so much stick for the stuff you post.

21.) 01 Nov 2016 19:42:29
I doubt that any of them would be suited to klopps method bar Stevie and Suarez.
I don't think the rest could deal with the tempo of pressing.

Jack Bezants from Mailonline (Don't shoot me) insists the issue with Can's contract is a release clause.

It could be that he wants a release clause, in case he does not get the game time he desires - giving him a way out.

Barca making a fourth bid; following from withdrawing their interest and having given a deadline for a bid to be accepted, Is pretty embarrassing for Barca. Surely a club of that magnitude could have had their ducks in a row!

{Ed002's Note - When did they "withdraw" their interest? I think you will find never.}

Any chance of an elaboration on that?

{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant but I suspect that there might, rather unusually, be some planning for January.}

Seeing Schmichael on Monday night football really demonstrated how a good goal keeper coach could make a massive difference to keepers, especially young keepers. I am not saying we get him in, but we need a very good coach for the keepers.

{Ed001's Note - in what way? Kasper was awful on Monday night and he still gets lots of tips from his dad, so not sure Peter would be the best choice of coach, if you are suggesting him!}

I read somewhere that Migs had stayed up late on Saturday and was being punished for that by being dropped. Is there any truth to this Eds?

{Ed002's Note - You seriously expect me to know what time Mignolet went to bed on Saturday?}

Thanks Ed. The paper mentioned that I was going to have a trial - so it must be true.
