Honest question. Does anyone else think Slot is actually hoping to get sacked at this point?

08 Apr 2026 22:37:16
Reminds me of Ten Haag at Utd. Players have stopped playing for him. Just waiting for the club to sack him.

Agree15

08 Apr 2026 23:59:28
I believe so.

I didn't think that before, but the comment of "we were lucky to only concede 2" and few other comments scream of "you should sack me".

Agree4

09 Apr 2026 03:22:29
666, I've thought that for a while. The pig-headedness of turning out the same crap week after week.

Agree3

08 Apr 2026 21:58:52
What can be said that hasn't been written a thousand times before. An abysmal inept defeat. Totally out played and out fought for the entire game. Tactically absent and no fight or bite in this team. If slot even implies that losing only by two is not the worst outcome, then my goodness how our standards and ambitions have been ruined by this man and his management staff.

I'm simply lost for words and so frustrated that this is where our club sees its future with slot in charge.

08 Apr 2026 22:26:07
Steady on KingKev. It was better than City! I'm not saying it was great, but at times, in fact, just before their second goal, we were on top.

They are miles better than us, and yes, outclassed us, but their heads did not go down, and better than it has been.

We won't overcome them next week, I'm sure, but don't jump all over them for that performance. Remember who they are, most likely the best team in world football at the moment.

Agree4

08 Apr 2026 22:29:55
Oh, now howay, we kept it under four, which is better than I was expecting. There were even some shots at goal in the second half at least.

I know it's rough, but just let this season go. This fraud of a manager sabotaged the season and stopped caring about results months ago, just try and do the same.

Agree0

08 Apr 2026 22:39:08
Ah, I don't know, Chrisy, yes they're an unbelievable side, but remember who we are as well... we're Liverpool... even in our poor years we showed more heart and fight than that... yes it's ok to be beaten away to arguably the best side in Europe, but to go down with a whimper and not even laying a glove on them, to be honest, I thought was pathetic.

Only real difference is they toyed with us, whereas City put us to the sword...

I honestly can't remember a time, and my childhood memories were the late 90s, early 00s, where he had some bang average sides. Remember a time I looked forward to watching our games as I do now.

Sad times, and if it was a once off I'd say fair, but it's constant.

Agree6

08 Apr 2026 22:40:33
It doesn't matter if they're the best team in football at the moment - that was absolutely terrible. 20 odd percent possession and 0 XG!
You can play a back 5 and still play football.

We have the talent in our squad to perform a lot better than that drivel.

Agree2

08 Apr 2026 22:40:42
I don't know how to feel about the game. I thought we did some things well, but there are just glaring holes in our midfield and Ekitike is feeding off scraps. My main concern (apart from Slot) is this new keeper. He's awful. We deserved to get beat, we didn't offer much going forward and looked shaky at the back.

I'd like whoever does come in to replace Slot to consider a new captain because I don't think VVD should even be a starter at the moment let alone captain.

Agree1

08 Apr 2026 22:41:14
Chrisy, you summed up what I thought. Tbh, I was expecting 3 or 4 from PSG, and with an improved performance (which it was), we were still never likely to get anything. Mainly because PSG are simply better than we are.

I'm just hoping we get enough points now to get in the Champions League for next season, and we can say thanks for last season, Slot, but time for a change. Not really much else to say.

Agree2

08 Apr 2026 22:49:22
"It was better than City," that's your defence. It was a disaster, not a single shot on target, and they should have scored ten. Awful.

Agree7

08 Apr 2026 23:00:29
Honest question... how was that an improved performance? We were still making the same defensive mistakes, but just didn't get punished as often. Had PSG taken 2 more of their (great) chances, the scoreline would have matched the City game.

We had maybe 3 or 4 moments where we could string some meaningful passes together, which led to attacks. We were doing the same against City - in fact, we were edging it until City's opener.

Agree4

08 Apr 2026 23:04:09
Chrisy - can I have some of what you're on, mate?

That was an appalling performance.

In fact, it was bordering on a disgrace. They effectively set up by admitting PSG were a better team, and waited to get beat. That is not and should never be the Liverpool way.

It didn't even work. Liverpool should have been battered if not for some dreadful PSG finishing. They were lucky - pure and simple.

Going to a five at the back, with no real attacking intent, and still getting a rodgering is not an improved performance.

Sorry, but no fan should look at that performance with anything other than contempt. This is a title winning team that had a £450 million cash injection, and we are in a Champions League quarter final bending over waiting to get spanked. It's embarrassing.

Agree7

08 Apr 2026 23:23:09
It was far worse than City, Chrisy. Far worse.

At least at City, we showed some ambition and were arguable the better side up until they got the penalty. Wirtz was the best player on the pitch for the first 30 minutes.

Tonight we went out there with no ambition other than to keep the score down. It was pathetic. Even playing with no attacking intent, we conceded some really good chances and are very lucky to still be in the tie.

Ekitike is absolutely useless. He's lazy, greedy, won't even attempt a tackle, always picks the wrong option and wants to make it all about him. I'd seriously sell him in the summer. His attitude stinks.

I'd take Darwin Nunez over Ekitike every day of the week.

Grav has dropped off a cliff. He was brilliant last season in the 6, but this season he looks half asleep and doesn't know where he's supposed to be.

I could go through every player and tell you why that wasn't good enough, but I'd be here all day.

We need a manager to put a rocket up these players because most of them are coasting. Even Szob looked like he couldn't be bothered tonight.

PSG are a great team if you allow them to be, but they can be got at if you are aggressive and don't allow them time on the ball. We stood off them for 90 minutes and just allowed them to do whatever they wanted. It was like a training match for them.

I really don't understand what Slot is trying to do with this team. He's taken a forward thinking, aggressive, confident team who never knew when they were beaten and turned them into meek, scared, pathetic players who look like they've never met each other and collapse at the first sign of adversity.

That tonight was the worst I've seen us play since Hodgson. We accepted defeat before we'd even kicked off, which is totally unacceptable.

Agree5

08 Apr 2026 21:54:00
Get that thing gone.

08 Apr 2026 21:59:04
Slot out now. He has ruined our great club. The bloke is clueless and out of his depth. Season over. Well done on hiring this bald fraud.

Agree13

08 Apr 2026 21:59:51
Incompetence from top to bottom. The club is a joke.

Agree13

08 Apr 2026 17:33:25
Anyone read the John Gibbons rant?
I'll get me coat.

08 Apr 2026 16:46:13
Anyone seen John Gibbons from The Anfield Wrap monologue/rant online? Worth a look. Says it how it is re the team, players, coaches and culture. Well worth a read. Had over a million views. Hits the nail on the head and made me laugh out loud.

08 Apr 2026 17:34:47
Interesting watch. What a few of us have been saying about Arne and a few of the players all year. They don't get it, they're gone deaf at times, and they do need to show more humility and hard graft week in week out.

I'm disappointed in Szob, tbh, as I thought he was better than that and could be captain in the future, you do genuinely wonder which of them is worthy of the position next season.

Agree6

08 Apr 2026 17:35:47
He's a bit late to the party. I stopped listening to TAW a long time ago. The other guys, Neil Atkinson, just waffles and uses long words to sound like he knows what he's on about.

They're just a mouth piece for the club. I listen to the Liverpool Way. They pull no punches and have been calling this BS very early on. That's my two penneth anyway.

Agree9

08 Apr 2026 17:43:14
It'll still be Virgil Overkill.

Agree0

08 Apr 2026 17:44:12
Good rant. Said what I've been saying most of the season. It's not all on Slot. How can they be a mouthpiece for the club when he's just had a pop at our best 2 players?

Agree8

08 Apr 2026 17:23:57
Is it the one about Dom being a flash c**** for showing off his watch on international break?

Agree5

08 Apr 2026 18:16:02
That and more, Patrik.

Agree2

08 Apr 2026 18:33:01
A lot of nonsense from a bitter middle aged man

Agree6

08 Apr 2026 18:49:32
Many who share his view, Vicar.

Agree8

08 Apr 2026 18:50:31
I like the Anfield Wrap and listen to them every now and then. I think they have some well considered analysis of games and aren't given to the sort of hyperbole that we often see in the football media. Just my opinion though.

Agree1

08 Apr 2026 19:11:27
Agree with what he's saying totally, and it makes me think that this issue is an "unknown unknown" for Slot. Aside from him being completely out of ideas on the footballing side, I don't think he even knows that he's failing to comprehend the culture of the team and therefore failing to maintain it.

Which is also why he is failing badly at being a leader, aside from all the obvious evidence he's provided this year that he just isn't a good man-manager/motivator, and if he doesn't understand the culture of the club, he never can be for us.

Agree1

08 Apr 2026 19:15:58
So so.. the players are partly to blame?

Agree2

08 Apr 2026 19:23:48
Manager and players should hang their heads in shame.

But anyone who thinks all the players are going to get sacked or sold over the manager leaving are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Agree6

08 Apr 2026 19:26:37
Snuggle, the rant wasn't about Slot.

Agree2

08 Apr 2026 21:45:02
It’s funny how he mentioned the togetherness of the players and the club etc. The last couple of years under Klopp, the social media was massive. You’d see clips being shared of things the players did on pages completely unrelated to football. I haven’t seen a thing for over a year.

I get it, it’s social media. Who cares etc., but how did a constant stream of feel good things going on disappear? What’s going on? You get the odd clip nowadays but nothing really great, nothing that people (non football) share. It’s not great tbf.

Agree2

08 Apr 2026 22:35:11
I take it you're not from the City, The -Vicker.

Because I am, I get where he's coming
from. Some of the team have little grip on reality. Humble is the word.

Agree0

08 Apr 2026 22:51:34
No, most of these players were performing at a higher level under Klopp. They now look the opposite. This is on Slot.

Agree2

08 Apr 2026 16:30:43
Anybody watched video on YouTube by John Gibbons were he has a rant about the players and the manager.
John is right in everyway. Makes some very interesting points of order and does not hold back. Well worth a look at. YNWA.

08 Apr 2026 17:48:03
Is that the guy in the white Adidas tracky? If it is, it's brilliant, sums it all up.

Agree2

08 Apr 2026 13:44:12
I wrote to FSG yesterday in particular, big JWH.

I grassed everyone up. Hughes Edwards, & Slot.

I'm on a mission. When he replies I'm going to tell what's going on here in little old England. When he finds out.

Discuss.

08 Apr 2026 14:54:48
I know John W Henry loves old school musicals, so I sent him a barbershop quartet to sing "Mmmm Slot and Hughes Are Bad".

Agree3

08 Apr 2026 15:53:18
Discuss what? You're telling us?

Agree2

08 Apr 2026 14:58:51
Snitches get stitches Chrisy.

Slot is going to show up at your door with Virj and Ibou left and right.

Agree3

08 Apr 2026 16:53:23
Did the right thing imo, Chrisy.

Agree2

08 Apr 2026 16:54:54
Just use a high press. They'll both just give up.

Agree0

08 Apr 2026 17:03:37
@Davey Sulls, We know he likes playing players out of position, it'll be Virgil right and Konate left....

Agree2

08 Apr 2026 17:37:31
I sent the club a fax expressing my displeasure at the current situation.

Agree1

08 Apr 2026 19:42:34
May as well shout at the sky.

Agree0

08 Apr 2026 22:04:34
Chrisymate, you should have written to the repair shop instead, lad.

Agree0

08 Apr 2026 22:39:33
That means I could cry when they do the big reveal, and the only thing left is the veld buckle from Brendan's Armani belt.

Agree0

08 Apr 2026 11:52:43
I've just read that if Liverpool finish 6th in the PL, there is still a way we can qualify for next season's Champions League (and not by us winning it this year). Anyone want to have a guess how?

08 Apr 2026 12:55:16
By Villa winning the Europe League.

Agree1

08 Apr 2026 13:01:26
And what if Arsenal win the CL and PL while Villa win the EL?

Does that get us in at 6th? Not sure about that.

Agree0

08 Apr 2026 13:53:24
Yep, it's Villa.. if they win EL and finish outside the top 4.. or 5.. can't remember what they said now...

I think England can get 7 if Forest win too.

I think England teams won't win anything in Europe tbh.. now at the business end so the elite clubs are left r...

Wouldn't be surprised if RM still did a number on Bayern tbh.

Agree2

08 Apr 2026 14:01:12
Don't tell Slot that... Don't need another scenario for us to not put an effort in on our league table standings...

Agree1

08 Apr 2026 14:19:08
Great news for Chelsea and Everton, but I'm not sure we need to concern ourselves with talk of finishing 5th.

Agree1

08 Apr 2026 15:18:28
Unbelievable we're behind the worst City team in years, an awful Utd team who binned off a clueless manager, and a Villa team who can't spend money and had to sell their best players the last few windows.

Also add in Chelsea, who are also probably their worst team in years and 2 managers in, and Brentford, Everton, Fulham, Sunderland, Newcastle and Bournemouth only a few wins behind us.

CL qualification by any means would definitely paper over the cracks of what could likely be Liverpool's lowest league points tally in 10 years.

Agree7

08 Apr 2026 17:55:50
Would anyone care, JK? I wouldn't. Just get in. Next season's a different ball game. We, of all people, should know that. That City team could still do the domestic treble, by the way.

And Utd wouldn't be the 1st team to benefit from one game a week all season. 40 games, when you think about it, for a club of that size with their huge squad, is an embarrassment.

Agree1

08 Apr 2026 18:35:52
Florian, I've not said I would care, mate.

If we sneak in CL anyway, it will be a massive plus, but it would still paper over the cracks of the league season.

Utd finishing above us, regardless of how many games they play, might be an embarrassment for them, but id say people in glass houses can't throw stones after the season we're having.

Only saving grace is winning the CL.

Lowest league tally in 10 years, fans leaving early and booing at games, paints the picture far more than words on the internet.

Agree4

08 Apr 2026 19:23:45
Don't think it'd paint over the cracks, mate. Everyone realises how poor we've been, but if we manage to sneak in, everyone involved with the club will realise we've got away with one. Fans pay their money so they can show how they feel, but these games now between now and the end of the season are too important to be booing or leaving early.

Hate Slot, hate Hughes or hate Edwards if you want, but we don't even know if they'll be here next season. What we do know is that we have to get that 5th spot.

Agree0

08 Apr 2026 22:33:27
I don't hate any of them, mate.

Again, if paying fans want to boo or leave early, then it's up to them.

CL qualification would 100% be getting away with one. It's been a dire season.

Agree0

08 Apr 2026 10:59:09
Michael Olise? Yes please! That Pavlovic in the Munich midfield was great too.

08 Apr 2026 12:05:08
Yeah, Olise is definitely my pick for the wing. We need more players who can be on the wavelength with how Wirtz plays.

Agree2

08 Apr 2026 12:12:31
My partner is from Gisborne and he says you're right about the kickoff time.

Agree0

08 Apr 2026 12:40:19
Ok chur.
Lol.

Agree0

08 Apr 2026 13:02:15
That whole Bayern team is a well-oiled machine from top to bottom. What a performance!

Agree1

08 Apr 2026 13:07:58
High five!

Agree2

08 Apr 2026 15:56:23
Does that mean Vinny going to take over City?

Agree0

08 Apr 2026 18:28:10
Yep great game, Oli. Enjoy tonight.

Agree0

08 Apr 2026 18:57:08
Great match, great player, there's been a few on here claiming he's "not the right fit for us"?! Can't wrap my head around that at all.
