Sad to watch the players capitulate when faced with adversity.
05 Apr 2026 12:12:52
Even sadder, knowing that it's because they're fed up playing for a fool who has no idea what he's doing, sadder again, knowing the board and the owners don't have the balls to make a call, the season could have been saved 4/5 months ago.

It's the Slot way unfortunately.

Agreed, you have to think why practically the whole team basically collapsed when they went a goal down. A season of horrible results, dire performances, has had its effect. Sad to see, but you have to ask if the same players would be significantly better under another coach? I believe you would see a definite improvement for sure.

Not looking forward to PSG.
I think, even Rob Page from the Under 21s would've done a better job if given an interim role the last 2 months.

Do you know, mate, I'd love it to happen, but I just can't see it.
Never been as downbeat going into a European Cup tie as this one.
Hope they can lift the performance, but we'll continue to be hindered by Slot until the end of the season.
Massive mistake not to let him go now.
There's still a possibility to qualify for next year's Champions League, but I fear we're going to end up 6th or 7th.
And when you consider how poorly the opposition for the 4/5th spot have been playing, we should have at least wrapped it up by now.

The game is on Wednesday. I was there on Saturday. I think the crowd will boo if we get battered at Anfield on Tuesday week. It was definitely burbling under yesterday. And people left throughout the second half. We are allowed to vote with our feet, guys.

Re:Kopcat007.
FSG have looked at the cheapest option. Out of competitions or sack Slot. Sacking Slot is the cheapest option. FSG will lose rather a lot of money if they are out of all competitions.
Therefore, I don't know why Slot has not gone already.
Rescuing the season should be a must for FSG. Yet, they have not done a thing? š¤š¤š¤
I tell you what, FSG, it will cost yer!!
There are alternatives, short term, to save what is left of the season. FSG will be in trouble if they don't do anything. 100%.

What to do?
Love the club and supported for nearly 40 years.
Can't stand our style of football under the current regime as it is not entertaining and even the players on the pitch seem bored of it.
Someone posted about getting a new hobby, maybe it's my time to!
05 Apr 2026 11:51:25
It's certainly the most boring football I've ever seen as a Liverpool fan.
I've seen worse teams, but never a more boring one, mate. I reckon it's the slowest too.

Yesterday, I was in genuine shock and disbelief at how empty the stadium was. I actually muted the game for the last 10 minutes whilst looking at something on my phone, and just looking up every now and then to see was there any change as I waited for the post match. The idea of not watching games live anymore entered my mind for a split second, not that I ever would, I can't stand missing a game, but just the fact that it entered my mind at all goes to show you the effect Slotball is having.
Even in our darkest hours, I've never once thought like that. Through the 90's and 00's I relished being a bit of an underdog. It made the victories that much more sweet. No matter our form, no matter how lacklustre the squad was, no matter who we were up against, you always felt like we had enough drive, enough passion, that we could nearly will ourselves to victory. It feels like we've completely lost that.
Looking forward to a busy Summer. Here's to hoping FSG get the finger out.

Yet Slot is picking the exact same players every single game, so he seems to be quite happy with them giving the minimum.
Kerkez is the only regular that deserves a start.

Mango you try playing for an incompetent fool who makes baffling decisions week in week out for 7 months and see what that does to your drive.
22 losses in the last 12 months, it's actually insane he's still in a job, I'm surprised the players aren't picketing up and down Anfield road.

Ed001 have you got wish list for the successor to Richard Hughes? Who's out there that's attainable and be a good fit for us?

I think it will end up being Alonso and I will of course support that and see the reasoning.
I still think my realistic choice (first choices being Enrique/Klopp return) is Iraola.
Doesn't get mentioned enough on the conversation in my opinion. He would be my choice.
Prem experience.
Worked through tough times and came out other side.
Has had created multiple star players.
Every time he starts building something, team gets ripped apart.
I'd love it if we were the ones that would give him the chance to build something and not rip it apart when it's coming to fruition.
Plus he plays a very exciting brand of football that I think would be really successful with the right players.
05 Apr 2026 11:20:57
Back end of last year, before Alonso got sacked, I did mention him as an ideal successor. I think Carra did say he was well liked by Hughes and Co.

05 Apr 2026 11:22:01
Didn't someone itk post that he going to Utd?
Agree0
05 Apr 2026 11:26:18
Iraola needs one more job before he's ready for a top club. He will need to demonstrate how he can deal with more than 50% of games being against low blocks. And, ideally, needs to win something too.
The leap to Liverpool would be too big in one step imo.
Agree0
05 Apr 2026 11:58:38
My pick is Enrique.
Think we need experience alongside the energy he'd bring.
Agree0
{Ed001's Note - I don't believe there to be any chance in hell of getting him right now, otherwise I think he would be just about everyone's first pick.}
05 Apr 2026 12:16:02
Enrique has always been a pipe dream.
As for Iraola, I fully agree with Pelican. Iraola should go get some exp. at a big club. Handle all that pressure to win, win, and then come back stronger.
With more pedigree than just "I play good football and can keep Bournemouth up in the PL".
Agree0
05 Apr 2026 12:59:22
Iraola has little more than a few gold stars to his name whilst Xabi took Leverkusen from 17th place to a domestic double and a record 51 game unbeaten streak. Come on, let's get real here, it's a one horse race.
No disrespect to Iraola, he has done very well with lesser teams and had some big wins against some of the giants of football along the way but we're not a lesser team, we're not looking to just climb a few mid-table places, and if we don't snap up Alonso now, somebody else will.

This is a genuine question to eds1 and everyone else. Is VVD finished cuz he has been truly awful this season making basic mistakes and at times I'd say bad attitude ie blaming other players.
I do love him but if when a new manager comes in I really do hope he picks a new captain. I know playing next to Konate isn't going to be easy but he's not even doing the basics?
{Ed001's Note - yes, he looks done. His attitude has stunk, sniping at critics rather than working on his game.}
05 Apr 2026 10:59:49
Reserve judgment until we get a real manager in.
Agree2
05 Apr 2026 11:02:09
In times like this we need a real captain and leader on the pitch. VVD has shown he's not a good enough captain to get us through bad times. Nowhere near the level Hendo or Gerrard were.
Agree6
05 Apr 2026 12:22:47
Im with you, Frode. This is not the best season to fully judge not just VVD (I agree, he has been poor) but all the players esp. the new ones.
They have checked out because the manager has checked out to the point of being a part timer, as Ed01 says. Remember, we all thought some players like Bobbie, Hendo, Lallana (even Milner & Origi) weren't good enuff under a waister/spoofer like BR.
Only for Klopp to come in and make these same players (even Origi and definitely Milner) as the foundations on which the greatest LFC in the PL era was built on. Just saying.
Agree1
05 Apr 2026 12:59:43
Hendo was a great captain, but people saying that he got us through bad times is just revisionism at this point. From what I can recall, we had two bad seasons under Klopp: the 20-21 and 22-23.
In 20-21, we were in a rut until Klopp finally decided to play with midfielders in midfield and defenders in defence. Also, the last 10 games, when we won 26 points to waltz into the CL places, was because of Trent rediscovering form (after the first poor phase of his career), and Thiago really getting a regular run after injuries. From what I remember, in fact, Gini, Hendo, Milner, used to rotate around Thiago and Fabinho in that run.
In 22-23, we were generally not great throughout the season. Hendo and Fabinho were among the poorest players that season. And our revival in 23-24 happened without Hendo at the club.
So I can see why people are blaming VVD because of his performances, but to claim he is a bad leader while Hendo was a great one, is mostly borne out of frustration. Everyone in the squad calls VVD a leader, and nobody had any complaints when we were winning last year. The argument that he is not a good leader for bad times can only be verified when we actually turn the tide. Also, having played 4000+ mins when he is about to turn 35 can't help.
