Absolutely ridiculous to keep Salah next season he is all washed up. I hope this is not true he must be sold.

29 Apr 2024 20:28:26
LFC isn't going to say we don't want Salah after what happened on weekend. We need to have grip before salah's contractual situation get out of hand.

29 Apr 2024 20:50:55
Let’s just see what happens. Liverpool have to put themselves in a strong negotiating position so to say ‘we don’t want Salah next season’ would just be stupid.

We have to say he’s an integral part of the team, he’s staying etc. etc. so we can demand the best compensation if someone else wants him.

I’m happy either way, the guy’s a legend. Not had his best season but most of his really poor form has been since he came back from AFCON with an injury. If you remember rightly has was awful after the last AFCON too and people were writing him off then.

If he stays I hope he gets his best form back with a new manager, if he goes I hope we get the most we can for him so we can sign a top replacement.

Nice to see true Liverpool fan turn on our best player after all he's done.

Having a bad patch every player has one.

29 Apr 2024 20:53:27
Calm down, he will be evaluated by the new coaching team.

29 Apr 2024 20:54:08
Washed up is chucked about way too much nowadays you literally have no idea what it means. yes he's been poor last few months but if washed up is scoring 17 goals and 9 assists sign me up. Everyone else
Must be terrible then. And before anyone jumps on stop defending him I do believe he should be sold now for the club the rebuild the front line a bit.

A bit of topic but does anyone know the release date of the new jersey. It's my Nephew's birthday on the 11th of May. Can't find anything anywhere.

 0

29 Apr 2024 16:27:08
Happy early Birthday to your nephew, man.

 1

29 Apr 2024 16:48:12
They’ve not announced a date yet mate but it says potentially early May online.

 0

29 Apr 2024 20:46:43
Isn't it usually out in time for the last home game? as they normally wear that kit to market it for next season.

 0

29 Apr 2024 14:19:00
Liverpool were seemingly very good at keeping things away from the media last time Edwards was here.

This Salah contract situation feels like a very meticulous leak, maybe forcing the Saudi clubs to move and move quick?

 5

29 Apr 2024 15:12:56
Salah will have a say in where he goes, if he goes. I don't think he'll want to go to the Saudi league. He'll want to play at the highest level and it won't be all about the money for him.
We can't just sell him to whoever we want.

 1

29 Apr 2024 16:11:43
I think he will 100% go to the Saudi League and the money will be a huge contributing factor.

 6

29 Apr 2024 16:19:30
I don’t think he has the legs to play at the highest level anymore or for much longer anyway, you can tell he’s already slowed down. Certainly wouldn’t get a new long contract in a league like the prem. one of the farmers leagues or Middle East I’d bet.

 4

29 Apr 2024 16:28:23
Salah's off, guys. That much w has been clear over the past few weeks with the way he has been performing and with that touchline bust up, who knows what's been going on behind the scenes?

 2

29 Apr 2024 16:37:23
I certainly think it is a brief from the club. How can anybody know whether Salah is staying or going? He has a new sporting director, a new head coach and the resolve of prospective buyers to contend with.

 0

29 Apr 2024 16:40:32
He won't stay here for much longer anyway. He might be offered another year on top of the year he has left; maybe on less money.
His legs might be going but he seems to look after himself and he's scored over twenty goals again this season.

 1

29 Apr 2024 16:49:12
Ornstein reporting today that he’s staying 🤷🏻‍♂️.

 1

29 Apr 2024 17:26:59
Well, if the fans want to sell the top scorer and he doesn't want to go, what are you going to do?

 0

29 Apr 2024 17:43:40
Difficulty, is that it is evident that his legs are gone and doesn’t really have the pace, it’s also awkward as he thinks he’s undroppable, given the weekends outburst, Slot would have the same problem of a player who isn’t really up to the pace of the league but who thinks he should play every week, which could be disruptive to the squad and be an unnecessary distraction. Maybe I’m being harsh, but I’d rather a players legs went on someone else’s pitch instead of ours. Now seems the right time to sell.

 3

29 Apr 2024 18:26:06
If he stays, then we lose him for free next year if he chooses to not sign an extension

The general feeling right now is that this is a tactic for players to get a huge salary at their next club.

Football has no place for sentiment.
Take the money and run or risk losing him for free.

I know what I'd choose.

 1

29 Apr 2024 18:56:08
Why is Salah disruptive and why was the disagreement at the weekend about him not playing? Was is it about him not starting because from what I saw, Klopp had a go at Salah when West Ham scored.
Even if Salah should have gone last summer because he has lost some pace and is still our top scorer, what if he doesn't want to go to the Saudi league? He still has a contract and he is still our top scorer.
I'd be seeing if Diaz and Gakpo would get any offers and interested in leaving before Salah.

 0

29 Apr 2024 19:23:53
If your boss has a go at you in public, the professional thing to do is to address it behind closed doors when the dust settles.
Don’t react and fan the flames, take it like a pro and deal with it later.
Whether the boss is right or wrong, you take it.

 0

29 Apr 2024 19:33:31
I’d keep him one more year then allow him to go on a free. I’d be bedding in a long term replacement next season, I’d be selling Nunez.

 0

29 Apr 2024 19:44:54
Ron, if my boss had a go at me and spoke to me disrespectfully, I might tell him to shut his mouth and suggest we deal with his problem privately and professionally.
Klopp had a go at Salah, rightly or wrongly, but as a boss you treat your employees with respect.

 0

29 Apr 2024 20:34:16
Rigsby. Do you know what Klopp said 🤷‍♂️.

 0

29 Apr 2024 20:55:55
Ok Rigsby, you might be looking for a new job whilst trying to have a meeting with your ex-boss.

There is without doubt an agenda against Liverpool in the reffing side of things. If our players had fallen over like Everton players did for the softest of touches, we would never had gotten any of those free kicks. It takes our player to be seriously injured to gain any free kick. It's clear to see we just don’t get any decisions from the ref whilst he will give the opponent every decision.

 11

29 Apr 2024 13:55:19
It's nothing against LFC it's just some refrees make silly mistakes or have their own favourite teams. Coz yesterday the amount of mistakes referees did was unbelievable and coast Spurs potential a champions league spot.

Think next season will be huge discussion going on with clubs managers and PGMOL coz now we have clubs on a weekly bases having to put statement about the officials 🤷.

 2

29 Apr 2024 15:59:18
I don't think there is any agenda but I do think that we are on the receiving end of more bad decisions (in particular as you mention very soft free kicks against us and Salah being physically assaulted result in play being waved on) . It didn't feel like it a few years ago. It feels like Klopp's continuous ranting at the fourth official has had the opposite effect to what he was hoping.

Hopefully a change in the dugout will be enough for a bit of a reset next season but at the end of the day I truly believe that it is just the really poor standard of refereeing rather than corruption. To make matters worse it is then justified or glossed over by extremely biased media coverage.

 3

29 Apr 2024 16:33:45
"Chief Scout", I don't think there is any specific agenda against LFC even tho, it is clear to see that the way some of them conduct themselves vs our players esp at Anfield is quite insolent.

I think the refs are just flat out incompetent and could not give a toss how incompetent the look or are cos that is only matched by their insane levels of arrogance and do all types of crap and then say, "Yeah, so what? What are ya going to do? Fire me? ". That's how they act and this is what a lack of accountability looks like and that is killing every club right now.

Just look at the absolute shambles of a stunt that Taylor pulled at WH (not even going to talk about the 3 pens. he missed in the Forrest/ Everton game)? Trust me, had we still had a fair shot at the title and that happened, there would be absolute bedelum right now and the PGMOL wouldn't know where to hid. The only reason we laugh now is cos we ain't winning nothing so no one cares.

29 Apr 2024 11:48:14
With Slot joining and players being given a fresh start do we think the previous view of VDB being sold may change and he will be given a chance?

Has looked like he’s really coming into his own this season, still young and HG if I am not mistaken!

 3

29 Apr 2024 13:37:54
Not sure what the obsession with him is, he's almost 23 playing for a team one place above the relegation zone with a terrible defensive record. Wed be lucky to get the £6 million optional future fee Mainz have agreed. Championship standard at best.

 2

29 Apr 2024 14:07:05
Should at least get a look in preseason Amorin. Based off your comments we shouldn’t have signed a certain Andy Robertson from Hull!

 1

29 Apr 2024 14:17:21
Basing a players ability from his team is ludicrous.

Southampton were 1 place off above the relegation zone with a terrible defensive record when we signed him btw.

I'd probably watch the player before making such assumptions of him being Championship at best.

 4

29 Apr 2024 14:37:18
I'd happily put my house on him not being here September 1st. Raise the bar lads, he's never shown anything other than a few decent performances for Preston. If this was ten years ago fair enough but i thought we had grown.

 0

29 Apr 2024 14:50:48
Amorim, he turned 22 in December he’s not “nearly 23”

He’s been one of their standouts in a team struggling. Have you actually watched him play?

Good on the ball with 88% passing accuracy this season, very quick clocking 4th highest top speed in the league, and has the 2nd best tackle success rate in the league as well.

And there isn’t a €6m already agreed fee with them.

Sure you are expecting some shiny young player for Every position who costs €30m+ when in reality we might already have an in house solution - everyone should deserve a clean slate and his performances this season has shown he deserves a chance.

 3

29 Apr 2024 14:53:37
I just love to know the basis for your opinion.

I haven't watched anywhere near enough to make my own opinion up but I certainly wouldn't write him off due to his teams ability.

 0

29 Apr 2024 16:26:52
Might as well sell van dijk and Konate, start the season with koumieto and vdb, would he be playing for Mainz at 22 if he was any good? He'd be in our first team like quansah, oh and he's as slow as a turtle so I'm sure he will fit right into our high line.

 0

29 Apr 2024 16:38:27
Yeah, Gun10. VDB must be crap cos the team he plays in are crap. If that was the case, Dortmund would NEVE had signed a certain Jurgen Klopp from a crap club like you know, Mainz cos clearly if his team is crap then he must have been a crap manager. Good freaking grief!

 0

29 Apr 2024 17:33:03
Slow as a turtle, he’s the 4th fastest player in the whole bloody league!

I am glad you aren’t running the club, you live in this fantasy world - look forward to repossessing your home.

 1

29 Apr 2024 18:07:49
Just been through every stat on the official bundesliga site he's not fourth in anything let alone top 30.

Just make up things to suit your agenda.

 0

29 Apr 2024 18:23:36
Amorin, stats don't matter to me, personally esp. without context. The thing is based on how dismisively and with the levels of blatant contempt you speak about this kid, tells me you have NEVER never seen him play this season.

WHy? Simple. If you had, you would have said so and used it to support you assessment cos that's what I or anyone else would do. After all if I've watched a player play, why would I not say I did and use it as a valid point in my argument? You didn't use it in your rebuttals hence, safe to conclude that you haven't seen him play at all this season, IMO. Your acts will betray you well before your words, mate.

 1

29 Apr 2024 10:34:11
I really hope Slot is given the support and time by the players and fans to settle in and implement his ideas.

Hopefully player or fan power doesn't cause issues with the post Klopp hangover, with the that's not the way Klopp did it etc. He's not Klopp 2.0.

Things are going to be different and I for one am quite excited, it may or may not be a transitional season, but i hope he is given time, and with the media.

It must be strange for players especially for those like Trent who hasn't really known another manager in charge.

 5

29 Apr 2024 11:28:28
Yeah, I don't think we should expect an instant change in form etc.
There is a lot of work to be done, players to be assessed whether they are good enough and fit within the plan for a change in the system. New additions etc.

Unfortunately I can't see us challenging for trophies next year, hopefully I am wrong though.

 1

29 Apr 2024 11:37:51
It will be very difficult for Slot.

Just in this site, we have seen so many fans saying Klopp should have gone 2 years ago in a span of few poor results/ weeks.

But because it is a FSG signing, they will want him to come good and will also give him extended waranty.

It can't get any funnier when Ten Haag and Slot, Slot and Pep do these pressers. We are in for sureshot entertainment without doubt.

 2

29 Apr 2024 13:10:50
Looking at our fanbase recently - he’s going to need all the luck he can get.

 4

29 Apr 2024 12:59:25
SamiKewell. Have a read of ED001s Everton match review last week. Its really well written and insightful, its hard to disagree with his thoughts.

 2

29 Apr 2024 16:42:35
Was Klopp not an FSG signing or did the City owners sign him for us? Seriously, what people make this distinction as if it's some kind of a thing? If we had signed Alonso, whose signing would he have been? Good heavens.

As for Slot, he will get the same time as i gave Klopp and he will get more time provided the wins are being put on the board cos winning and progress buys you time. It is the way it is. That's why Klopp got the time he got. We were improving a a very steady rate season after season until we won the lot.

 0

29 Apr 2024 19:35:52
Slot deserves all fans support. He needs patience and time.

Just another thing I noticed when watching the derby and by no means am I alluding to a 'conspiracy' or using this as an excuse as to why we lost, but more an observation: for one of everyone's goals from the corner, their defender was deliberately blocking VVD from reaching the ball which resulted in the goal, even the commentators/ analysis team mentioned it in a positive light.

Now, if I remember correctly, did VVD not have a goal ruled out for pretty much the exact same thing - team mate preventing a defender from reaching the ball / defending zone?

It just seems bizarre one week a rule is implemented and then the next it seems to go unpunished and on this case, lauded by commentators as smart play by the opposing team. Another frustrating thing is that none of these pundits or commentators pull it up and question why the rules are changing week in week out. No wonder there is no consistency if they are never held to account, just so frustrating.

 4

29 Apr 2024 10:30:47
I think you're referring to the Carling Cup final goal where VVD's goal was ruled out because Endo was in an offside position and impeded a defender from getting back. That's a different situation than the one you're referring to though since there's no offsides from corners.

To clarify myself, I don't think VVD's goal then should have been ruled out then since I don't think Endo was interfering with the play. But if VVD was impeded from coming for a ball from a corner, then I think he should have been stronger. He's a big guy and is supposedly quite strong. Unless he was fouled, then I don't see much issue with that kind of play.

 0

29 Apr 2024 10:32:23
Well iirc the issue is Endo, the player who blocked off an opponent for VVD's disallowed goal, was offside not that he blocked someone off.

So I suppose it's a case of were any Everton players offside from frees whilst doing that. I genuinely don't remember.

 0

29 Apr 2024 10:53:33
I obviously didn't remember that correctly and thinking back yes, you're right it was the offside wasn't it, no wonder no one was talking about it!

 0

29 Apr 2024 16:44:21
Stui, I saw that as well. On the second goal, VVD was getting blocked by Tarkowski. On another chance in the first half, Tarkowski blatantly shoves VVD in the back to prevent him from challenging Branthwaite who won the header. It happened many times in the game. It is what bit is.

 0

{Ed025's Note - VVD shouldn,t be such a little fart then.. :)

 0

29 Apr 2024 17:43:56
VVD was less of a fart before Pickford maimed him Ed025.

As for analysing corners - it’s like p-ing in the wind. There are probably a dozen offences for both teams at every corner. If you get penalised, you’ve been unlucky. If you don’t get a decision, you’ve been unlucky. There’s no injustice because the laws are furiously transgressed every time.

 0

{Ed025's Note - hes a big unit though Ron and should not really be bullied imo, if i was his size i would be the one doing the pushing mate and i certainly wouldn,t be acting like a big girls blouse.. :)

 0

29 Apr 2024 19:04:07
Everton targetted our best header of the ball. Forget that, Everton targetted our only header of the ball so one of their headers of the ball could get an attempt at goal.
That's good tactics.

 0

29 Apr 2024 19:37:27
Liverpool were awful against Everton. The blues fully deserved to win as bad as it is. We need to move on. VVD like most of them were hopeless in that game.

 0

29 Apr 2024 19:57:11
Ed25, you won the title sorry, the game and hats off to your team. Just don't want to ever ever you moan about other teams' players flopping to the ground whenever the oppo. breathes on them, talking down to the rest of us about how the game has gone soft cos sevral of your players looked like little farts flopping to the ground whenever an LFC player walked past them. Just saying.

 0

{Ed025's Note - unfortunately going down very easily is all part of the game now it seems Oli, i dont like it myself i must say but every team is guilty of it mate...even the honest as the day is long Liverpool.. :)
