Absolute horror window for the Reds, once again leaving ourselves short.

Thankful "big moves" Hughes is finally leaving.

Let's hope Iraola doesn't take the fall if the season doesn't go as planned. He hasn't been backed at all.

Wishing all the best for the season but it's going to be very tough.

01 Sep 2026 22:29:31
Not just a couple short in the squad this time. Gaping issues in the first team too.

To go through that entire disaster last season and still not sign a right back is seriously astonishing. 😂🤷🏻‍♂️

We even managed to lose our second best right back of last season, Curtis Jones, along the way.

Big Dom, it’s your time to shine again.

The club are about to commence 5 games in 16 days.

An early test for the squad depth.

Not to sound dramatic, but I keep telling myself that we just need to survive until January...

The Midfield Pivot Blueprint

{Ed's Note - HAJI has posted a new article entitled, The Midfield Pivot Blueprint

1hr to go before we see one or two of these three at the club. Sarr, Minteh or Wharton. The eternal optimist.

01 Sep 2026 22:26:20
I truly admire your optimism TJ.

Agree1

01 Sep 2026 22:40:06
Now that we have all three, shall we also get Zidane and give him some de-ageing serum so we can build the team around him?

Agree0

01 Sep 2026 23:07:15
Wharton? He solves none of the problems that we have.

Agree1

01 Sep 2026 21:51:33
Camara to Chelsea 47m.
Another midfielder who would have suited us gone.

01 Sep 2026 22:09:22
Look at the fees they’re going for as well. Our recruitment has been historically bad since Hughes came in. Last summer was just overpaying for players and salaries.

Agree3

01 Sep 2026 22:11:30
It's a disgrace.

Agree3

01 Sep 2026 22:11:48
Yeah, but what do we know, Rum?
It's not like we can all see that we are crying out for a DM and a RB... and a RW...

Might as well play all our attacks down the left.

Better than Grav and Macca combined.

I'm torn between finding it baffling and genuinely feeling like it's negligence. It's so obvious what we need, but the fact they were wheeling out Gakpo earlier like a new signing told me everything.

I dunno about anyone else and I know lads for the future matter too, but I'm in my 50s, I want to see us challenge every year not wait till potential either does or doesn't work all the time before panic buying.

30m for a keeper we won't see for a season when we need squad numbers is really hard to understand, not to mention outing Jones etc.
I don't get it JLC, my mate, I really don't.

So Camara is signing for Chelsea. Buckle in, going to be a long season. Very disappointing. Fingers crossed for the manager performing miracles .

01 Sep 2026 21:37:13
Chelsea get Camara. Well done Hughes.

01 Sep 2026 21:24:23
Now Camara off to Chelsea. 😔

01 Sep 2026 21:47:15
Hughes' early dart yesterday. FSG have dropped a clanger big time not bringing in a CM or full back.

01 Sep 2026 21:50:54
He would’ve been great for us but ultimately Mac Allister and Endo stayed put so there was no space in the squad for another senior non-HG midfielder.

Agree4

01 Sep 2026 21:53:13
Clowns running the circus. So many good defensive midfielders moved this window and we'll be left shoehorning attacking midfielders there, scratching our head at why it doesn't work.

Agree5

01 Sep 2026 21:57:05
At least another season of failure will stop that stupid nonsense argument that we don’t need to add a midfielder because our current crop of midfielders won the league in May 2025. So there is at least a silver lining to this.

Agree4

01 Sep 2026 21:59:21
Reality is, only people on here linked us to him and most people had never heard of him before two weeks ago. All of a sudden he is a world beater and our season is over because we didn’t buy him. Relax.

Agree1

01 Sep 2026 21:59:46
They’re seriously backing Xabi, those lot.

Agree1

01 Sep 2026 22:01:54
Hopefully Richard Hughes will f off now.

Agree4

01 Sep 2026 22:06:39
If you say so, MK. As if there’s no room in the squad. What horse do.

Agree3

01 Sep 2026 22:25:24
The answer to the non HG question is to not register the midfielder who barely played last season and isn’t up to the Premier League anymore. No room for sentiment as it doesn’t win points.

Agree0

01 Sep 2026 22:26:36
@lfc8 They have seriously backed their last few managers, didn’t make a right lot of difference. But someone really needs to get to grips with how they are continually able to spend so much each window.

Agree0

02 Sep 2026 03:27:54
Not registering the players doesn't mean that we stop paying their wages though. If we don't register Endo and Chiesa, we are essentially losing about ÂŁ200k per week just for them to shake their legs at home or in the stands.

We can't afford to do that. The failure of Hughes is not only that he failed to bring players in, but that he failed to shift out unneeded players as well.

01 Sep 2026 21:18:41
Just read that the signing of Brughmans was suggested by Matt Newbury from our Global Scouting team who got us Ndiaye, Ndukwe, Martinez and Pesci, so it's clear that department is doing excellent work.

01 Sep 2026 21:48:09
Let's see how they all get on first. 😀 They are certainly exciting talents.

Agree1

01 Sep 2026 22:00:26
Can’t wait for the 2031/32 season to start. 😉

Agree3

01 Sep 2026 22:06:07
Pesci kids!

Agree1

01 Sep 2026 21:15:34
Thought I'd ask the question anyway, but if we do look at an RB then who does everyone want? If we address it next summer.

01 Sep 2026 21:54:01
I hope either Frimpong or Bradley succeed this season and make this a redundant debate. If not though, it’s tricky to answer as there are not actually many good RBs about currently. I liked Kounde but that ship has sailed. Kayode possibly?

Agree4

01 Sep 2026 22:16:39
Kounde would have been my ideal rb.

The club talks about not blocking a pathway. I actually think someone like Ratiu we were linked with would have been good. He had a buy out clause of around ÂŁ25m.

He can play both sides and is quick and strong. The fb doesn’t need to be the best player, just reliable and able to play the role, which is to defend well and contribute to attacks with crosses and overlaps.

Agree0

01 Sep 2026 22:23:39
That's the thing Mk, we are only moaning as Bradley is injured and Frimpong is the shell of a player from Leverkusen.

Agree0

01 Sep 2026 22:24:21
I'd love for Bradley to stay fit and really cement the position as his own. If not, then I'd explore a deal to bring TAA back if it were possible and it doesn't work out this season purely because as MK says there aren't many good options and at least TAA offers the creative outlet that we are missing and after seeing Frimpong I think it's safe to say TAA got a bit of a rough ride over his defensive qualities but I have a feeling whoever we buy will be a tad underwhelming.

Agree0

01 Sep 2026 22:40:17
Bradley isn’t top level either, and unfortunately he does get injured more than most. There is a strong argument to say our 4 full backs are among the worst in the league.
