{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new podcast entitled, Eds C U Next Time on Youtube
11 Dec 2025 19:25:04
If McConnell's coming back will he be sent to the U23s or in and around the first team?
11 Dec 2025 20:12:46
Great question. Carragher, Trent and SG became the players they could be because we showed faith in them very early on.
Klopp showcased a lot of our youth team in cup a couple of years ago, and McC was the standout for me. He wasn’t just tidy, he was damn smart in his choices.
11 Dec 2025 20:40:05
I hope he can step up despite it not going to plan at Ajax. Did sign a big five year contract before his loan so there's that.
11 Dec 2025 22:00:13
A big fan of McConnell. We should have never let him go as I thought he was ready for game time in the first team, IMO. I was disappointed Slot sent him off on loan, er Ed01.
11 Dec 2025 22:36:53
So many variables need to go right for a youth player to get their break aye.
12 Dec 2025 00:40:12
Agree on McConnell, he’s exactly the type of player we need right now.
Controversial but I’d feel happier with him in for MacAllister right now.
2-footed, good vision, good at closing players down, doesn’t give possession away easily.
12 Dec 2025 06:42:06
Aye, he’s exactly what we need. A young lad who has just got sent back by Ajax because he couldn’t cut it, hasn’t played a minute for Liverpool in the PL. How anyone can say he is ready for the PL or the answer to our midfield woes is beyond me.
12 Dec 2025 08:12:29
So the two players Slot didn't want in the summer are now sent back to him and some fans think they are the messiahs coming to save the season?
12 Dec 2025 08:28:15
Didn’t say that IR, I said “TYPE of player we need”.
12 Dec 2025 09:44:43
Lots of players go out on loan at the start of their careers with varying success. Salah, Beckham, Kane (off the top of my head)
They’re not going to prove themselves, they’re going to get more games under their belt.
12 Dec 2025 10:28:29
I never said he is the player we need to come back in. I said he should have been kept and never loaned out to begin with.
11 Dec 2025 16:46:33
Ed001 do you think Gerrard would be a good appointment under Alonso as a coach or assistant.
Or do do you think Gerrard wants a job only as the head guy.
{Ed001's Note - Gerrard does not want to coach, he wants to manage. Which is silly as he is a better coach than manager.}
11 Dec 2025 19:38:38
Do you think lack of opportunity my turn his head and the chance to stay in the city with his family now that he is a grandad.
11 Dec 2025 20:10:00
Stevie would be a great assistant coach. He should really do that for the next 5 or so years.
11 Dec 2025 20:12:59
He's too big of a character to coach and it's far less of a pay package.
11 Dec 2025 20:50:32
Batman - you right. If he could grind for a bit he may develop himself as a manager and then be top flight manager for the next decade after. As it stands It looks like he’s going to float around punditry and random jobs like in Saudi.
11 Dec 2025 20:59:16
At which club, Faithinworks?
11 Dec 2025 21:22:08
Darwins - no idea, just wherever the opportunity is.
11 Dec 2025 22:25:41
Why do people think Stevie G would be a great assistant coach? It’s a massive job, which requires tactical skills - it’s not like Sammy Lee shouting encouragement from the sidelines. It requires actual skill, not a bit of nice playing experience:
But for me the jury is out. SG feels like a routine mistake: handsome PE teacher, but completely frit outside of school.
11 Dec 2025 23:44:22
I actually think he'd consider been a coach at Lfc.
12 Dec 2025 04:53:01
I wouldn't Gerrard would make a good assistant coach since he has never done it before. But I think he would make a great youth coach. He has the prestige that can inspire younger footballers and would definitely get their buy-in. He was a youth coach for us before he went to Rangers and I thought he did very well in that role.
11 Dec 2025 12:53:08
Ed 1 what do you think may happen if we see Alonso getting the boot from the Madrid? Do you think we will make a move for him on the basis he was the preferred choice and things with Slot haven't exactly been what anyone expected so far this season?
I assume if Alonso wants to take time off, it may suit all parties to see things through to end of the season and replace with Alonso if he was still willing to come?
{Ed001's Note - as far as I know, Hughes is still backing Slot, so doubt anything would happen straight away.}
11 Dec 2025 22:01:32
We're going to have to be patient with this one, guys. It's going to be a slow burn.
11 Dec 2025 08:02:23
Why does everyone hate Carragher?
The spitting incident was abhorrent but it was luckily after his playing career. He was a one club pro, gave it everything each week knowing that he wasn’t technically or physically gifted. I remember fans wearing T-shirts ‘dreaming of a team of carraghers’ and chanting his name week in week out. He also knew the right time to retire (this is very useful to the club so as not to cause trouble or waste wage money) . Personally feel the hate is unjustified despite not agreeing with his Salah rantings.
Ed 001 what’s your opinion?
{Ed001's Note - because since retirement he has turned into an utter prick on TV, spouting idiotic nonsense just to get a reaction. It is embarrassing.}
11 Dec 2025 19:38:40
LLTK even Stevie Wonder can see that Carragher has turned into a complete and utter twat.
11 Dec 2025 19:50:42
He was a prick when he played. Was a terrible player. Give 100% but couldn’t defend . One of the luckiest players to have played for lfc . Had a good career just happened to have hyppia next to him.
11 Dec 2025 20:11:42
Yeah I don’t get it either. If you know or assume he’s just saying stuff for attention then why let it bother you so much.
I don’t prescribe to that idea anyways. Does pundits have to drive a narrative but it works better when they’re just themselves and sharing their opinions. Like Roy, I think Cara is like that.
Also don’t think anything he’s said is terrible controversial either tbh.
11 Dec 2025 20:17:32
LLTK, Baz is one of the good guys, I can’t remember a post from him where he has uttered a bad word about anyone. So if he says someone is a utter twat, it’s safe to assume that someone is one.
11 Dec 2025 20:46:26
Very surprised you think he was a terrible defender. I thought he played a massive part in our success albeit not the best natural football player.
11 Dec 2025 20:48:13
Baz, Carra talks a lot of sense in my eyes.
11 Dec 2025 20:55:19
There is so much to deal with here. First off, Carragher was not a terrible player. He got the same offline stick that Slot now gets, but none from the in-stand supporters.
The guy gave every part of his being in every game. Even back then online fans wanted him replaced with a random 2nd division defender - bonkers idea: SG got our attack up and running vs AC, but all anyone talked about the next day was JC - and the mild hilarity that he had ripped 2 groins to keep us in the game (the commentator really said it) .
I am all for analysis of each coach and pundit, but struggle with the selective arm reaches of, dare I say it, a new generation of fans who can’t be bothered with the awful moments of defeat, and then don’t enjoy the more rare moments of success a club might have.
11 Dec 2025 21:26:09
Why was the spitting incident ‘luckily after his career’? For one thing he had moved into another career but perhaps it would have been even luckier if he’d never spat at anyone ever?
IMO, he was a great clubman and a decent player but with limitations. As an ‘expert’ summariser and pundit he sometimes loses the connection between his brain and his mouth but, as with other pundits, short of outright slander, the ‘powers that be’ at Sky are happy for him to be controversial as it is good for Sky subscription levels. Again, imo he has nothing really insightful to say.
11 Dec 2025 21:57:55
I think he’s spot on in most things he says. And as for his playing career, he should be celebrated more than most. To call him lucky because he wasn’t born with natural talent is bizarre. He worked his arse off to achieve what he did and got the maximum out of his limited ability.
The fans used to sing about a team of Carragher’s that’s how adored he was and no amount of revisionism will change that.
11 Dec 2025 22:03:12
"Ed001's Note - because since retirement he has turned into an utter prick on TV, spouting idiotic nonsense just to get a reaction. It is embarrassing".
Essentially, the Sky Sports version of Steven A. Smith.
11 Dec 2025 22:12:00
BB thank you for your kind words. I never and would never come on here to verbally abuse anyone. Unfortunately JC says things to make himself relevant he doesn't need to get involved as much as he does. I don't think that anyone on the site actually has a firm idea of what went on. If anyone has a firm idea it will be Ed001.
11 Dec 2025 23:49:24
"Lucky"to play over 700 times for one of the worlds biggest clubs. i give up.
11 Dec 2025 23:59:44
Jeez, I wonder what hell Alan Hansen would attract on these pages. He was instrumental in our 80s success, but was brutal as a pundit when he retired.
Jamie Carragher might tell us things we don’t like to hear, but let’s not denigrate his service just because his views hurt our feelings (or make us feel so in this idiotic age) .
He was a titan when we were struggling; in my view as key to our success as SG in difficult years.
While you may not like his protective fury of LFC over Salah’s comments, it is worth remembering what he gave to this club. If his views have you reaching for the moral back-up of his spitting on a car (ugly, yes), just ask yourself this: have you ever done a single thing you might be ashamed of? Now put it on camera, share it, and then let’s begin.
12 Dec 2025 07:14:56
Might be against the grain here but I like listening to carra as a pundit and I find him v interesting. Particularly on sky, the American show he does can get bit silly at times but I don't really watch it.
As regards what he said about mo, I agree with it, it's exactly what I would have said myself.
As a player he was also excellent for us,05-08 he was outstanding and there would've been no Istanbul without him. He also tried to play on with a broken leg for us, couldn't see many attempting that nowadays!
The spitting incident was awful, no excuse for that and I'm sure he will regret that forever.
11 Dec 2025 07:04:07
Ed001, with regards to RyanG and our loss of form defensively, is a matter of him loosing form or his partner (MacA especially) loosing form or no support from the fullbacks? Salah can't be the only issue, he never really tracked back. Although he was scoring then.
{Ed001's Note - or is it because Gravy has been told to get forward more and so there is no one protecting the defence?}
11 Dec 2025 21:01:32
I thought Gravy was superb against Inter.
11 Dec 2025 21:57:01
I’ve thought all season the imbalance in midfield is more due to gravy playing less as a six. No coincidence it looked better against inter with him deeper. I also think it helps bring his best attributes when he starts from a deeper position. Him dropping in between the centre backs should also help our attacking fullbacks push up to provides width.
Cheers.
11 Dec 2025 22:02:49
Would love a midfield of Rice, Gravy and Koke. 😬.
11 Dec 2025 23:00:07
There were a few occasions when I noticed inter trying to overload their left side. This season when that happens Konate stays central and leaves the right back to deal with 2 or 3 men. It’s how Leeds got the penalty and their second goal.
Against Inter though, Konate shuffled over to help the right back and Grav dropped back into the CB position which is what should happen. If the back 4 gets stretched the 6 is there to fill the gaps. We just haven’t been doing that at all this season.
11 Dec 2025 06:58:42
Hello Ed001, please could you weigh in on the current replacement of Salah? Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against him but since he became 'the main man' (especially since he won the cold War with Sadio), he has become complacent. Didn't appreciate the statement attributed to him of not needing to work for his slot (pun intended) .
Everyone should work for the team. Look at Szobo, he was obviously the odd one out with the new signing but he remained professional and worked his way back into the team. And he frankly was not a squard player.
{Ed001's Note - he became complacent? Was that last season when he put up incredible numbers?}
11 Dec 2025 22:10:45
@xpertoyin, winning what "World War" with Sadio Mane? Sadio wanted to go and we let him go. It had nothing to do with Salah and it was not an either/ or situation.
Also, Salah being complacent? Sadio left only for Salah to go on and have Salah accomplish the greatest individual season in PL history and you call that guy complacent?
Mate, you may have been watching Salah play for LFC for near a decade. However, I don't think you ahve any idea who the man actually is on and off the pitch.
12 Dec 2025 04:56:53
It was Cold War not World War, Oli. But I agree. I don't think there was any kind of war that was won by Mo. Mane wanted to leave and he forced his way out of the club in a way as well, giving an interview before our CL final game against Real Madrid. Somehow, no one seemed to mention or remember that. Mane was also burnt out in the end and his legs have gone, with Klopp resorting to shifting him to the centre.
And again, Mo said he didn't have to fight for his position, not place in the team. I'm still not sure what he truly meant by that.
12 Dec 2025 10:38:40
"And again, Mo said he didn't have to fight for his position, not place in the team. I'm still not sure what he truly meant by that. ".
This is the part where as Ed01 said, you have to be careful when someone speaks English when English is not their first language. Things could get lost in the sauce.
For example in French, a player can say "I don't have to fight for my place". That means, "Fight for my place" in the starting 11 or in the squad. In English, that could mean, "Fight for my position".
Whereas in French, "position" (in this context) means the area of the pitch (RB, LB, CB, LW etc. ) a player occupies. That's all Im going to say.
{Ed025's Note - or it could mean..."im great and the best player on the planet and the world revolves around me so how dare you drop me you baldy tosser"..thats all im going to say.. :)
12 Dec 2025 11:59:24
And in what spoken language is all that stuff you just posted be translated from? Remember, nobody nor country on this earth speaks "Ed25" but you.
{Ed025's Note - its interpretation Oli, people will read comments and situations the way they want to read them...here endeth the lesson..
11 Dec 2025 19:02:24
I have been one of the biggest Slot out advocates since October. I find the way he ( in most games) sets the team up, the continuous use of ineffective tactics, until recently the continued use of the same under performing players, the obvious lack of creative ideas and apparent lack of intensity in training that is translated on to the pitch as irritating, baffling and not least inexcusable at this level. I've never hid that.
However I want to pick up on a point made by another poster ( I think warmachien) in a reply to Carra's latest post. Slot simply does not look like a man who has been told he will be replaced soon and his bosses are actively looking for his replacement. With the best level of professionalism in the world, there is no way he could carry on as he has been knowing that . It does not seem in any way that he thinks his job is in danger and his replacement is currently being scouted. He appears confident, assured and like a man who knows his job is safe. So as Warmachien pointed out, either he has no self respect and is willing to be treated like crap by his bosses ( which is what it is if this is the way its is playing out) whilst putting on an acting performance that is Oscar worthy, or its simply not true.
I have all the respect in the world for the Eds and the genuine ITK posters like Carra, but for me it just seems like nonsense that Slot is doing what he's doing without an ounce of resentment and obvious discourse Personally I think Slot will be with us till the summer no matter how bad results get, unfortunately.
11 Dec 2025 19:40:05
I don’t know if anybody wanted him to leave
Most people just wanted him to adapt, the formation/ tempo/ structure doesn’t suit the squad anymore
We’re too slow for 4-3-3. We’ve seen that formation at it’s absolute best under Jurgan and it had speed/ power everywhere
We’re not comfortable on the ball enough at the back, for this Slow possession football. Konate, Kerkez, Frimpong etc… their strengths are not passing it around the back for massive chunks of the game
Just adapt to this talented squad. And for god sake stop playing Szobo at flipping right back!
442 diamond Until January has been and gone, and maybe then, after another few 100 million, the squad might actually suit the system. But until then only this system aligns with the squad
Especially after That inter result 😍.
11 Dec 2025 21:28:03
@Kim, what did you think of the Milan game?
11 Dec 2025 22:15:43
@Kim as Ed01 has said, Slot is Edwards and Hughes' guy. They will not just chuck him out the door just cos a bunch a section of the fan base whined about it. They don't do that.
They will give him enuff time to turn things around and we all need to understand that. Having said all that, they are also compliling a list of potential replacements whould that time come to let Slot go and that time will come, IMO.
So in the end, we all have to be patient. I know I am even tho, I gave up after the Sun. game and now, want him gone. I supported him and he let me down. It is what it is.
11 Dec 2025 23:53:00
Get over it Oli, support him again.
12 Dec 2025 10:39:55
Florian, I support the club. Slot is on his own, personally. Get over that.
11 Dec 2025 06:18:52
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but do wonder if Alonso thinks he should’ve been our next coach after Klopp instead of that poisonous toxic club that is Real Madrid but now I get the feeling he may be damaged goods. Think if he gets the sack from Real he needs a break to reevaluate. Like to know ed001 thoughts.
{Ed001's Note - I think he made the right choice, take the learning experience at the lesser club first and then he can step up to the big leagues with us when he has that extra bit of knowledge under his belt....}
11 Dec 2025 19:24:41
Are you confident he joins us Soon Ed? :)
{Ed001's Note - no. I would hope Perez is going to stand by him and realise he needs to break the back of the player power for the good of the club.}
11 Dec 2025 17:39:41
3k Pounds for a ticket to the final of the world cup.
OK FIFA. I'll buy 10 tickets please!
11 Dec 2025 18:30:44
What's the stadium capacity JLC?
It's generally mostly corporate nonsense allocations anyways ain't it. not many genuine Joe public fans if it's the usual format? ✌.
11 Dec 2025 18:43:18
Even if tickets were cheaper, touts would grab them and sell them for insane prices. You really cannot win.
WC final tickets are so in demand that people will pay whatever it takes. 🤷.
11 Dec 2025 18:56:17
😂😂😂 classic JLC.
11 Dec 2025 19:42:32
JLC, I agree those prices are insane but, the location of the final explains it all really. MetLife Stadium is in an area where there will be easy access to persons of many nationalities and many of those people who can easily afford those prices. I’ve gone to a couple of matches and sat in the corporate boxes and can tell you they’re pretty plush.
I believe the capacity is 82k or there abouts. Those tickets will be resold at 7k-10k each depending on who’s in the final. On another note, if ROI can make it to the finals it’d be if they could have a rematch vs Italy in the new version of Giants Stadium.
11 Dec 2025 21:29:23
Wonder what Infantino’s best mate will be paying for his ticket?
11 Dec 2025 17:37:17
Just to get back to the football, Big game on Saturday. A chance to keep the positive results going. Hopefully we get the result we can ALL agree we want as LFC fans.
11 Dec 2025 17:54:34
…and a performance to back that up! Not just scraping a result. 🤞.
11 Dec 2025 17:59:34
To be honest Red i'd take a scrappy win now. All about the points at the moment.
11 Dec 2025 18:07:27
Right now scraping a result (with a clean sheet) would be just fine. Baby-steps until we get our confidence back. It’s going to take some time to get our mojo back.
While I want to see things work out with Slot, I will be so disappointed if we come out all flat in the first half.
A habit that preceded Slot (we always went behind almost immediately in Klop’s final season), but it really needs fixing.
11 Dec 2025 18:35:22
Liverpool 1-2 Brighton
Liverpool dominate the first 35 minutes but give away a stupid goal just before half time, then concede another poor defended goal straight after the restart, but then dominate for 40 mins but can only pull one back.
Sound familiar?
11 Dec 2025 19:16:54
Good vibes only good vibes.
11 Dec 2025 21:31:03
I hope Joe starts at RB, gives us a bit more solidity on the right hand side of the defence.
11 Dec 2025 23:54:56
Think it'll b Bradley after him been rested during the week.
