Just read a new linkage in the media. Norwegian left winger Andreas Schjelderup. Must be a backup for Barcola (and that too if Gakpo leaves). There's going to be loads of these kind of stories around the World Cup as always. Journalists know "eyeballs" are as much attracted to potential "shiny new toys" as football games themselves.
25 Jun 2026 16:09:05
And agents leaking fake interest to the press to drum up interest in their players. I'll be relying on the likes of Carra, Fields & Robbo to help sort the wheat from the chaff.
25 Jun 2026 15:00:47
Ed's or anyone have any idea what we're looking for outside of wingers, lacroix seems good value at 35 m or so seems odd we would t go for him
{Ed001's Note - right-back and central midfield are main priority, we just bought about 5 centre-backs.}
25 Jun 2026 14:56:19
Carra/Robbo/Thefields
Bild reporting £100m bid rejected for Diomande. Are they waiting for PSG or just we need to pay £112m?
What if LFC bid £112m, they will wait for PSG?
25 Jun 2026 16:13:51
£100m is too much, in my opinion, never-ending £112m. I think we need to look elsewhere.
25 Jun 2026 14:20:58
Carra, whats the latest on Diomamde? How close do you think it is? Also do you believe him to be the Salah replacement?
In my opinion, I think Adam Wharton would thrive at Liverpool. what's your opinion, or other possible options.
Cheers for all the works you and the ed's do.
25 Jun 2026 15:53:30
Palace won't sell Wharton for less than £100m given how much City are paying for Anderson, and even then he's not exactly the kind of midfielder who's going to make a difference for us as he's not a defensive midfielder, so we'll be just as soft in the middle as we were last season.
25 Jun 2026 10:33:54
Hi Ed/Carra/Robbo or anyone else who may know. Few social media links suggesting Chema Andres could be of interest for midfield. Having watched a few Stuttgart games back end of the season when the Hoeness rumours were circling both him and Stiller looked really good in the middle, maybe Chema fitting what we need in that Rodri/Busquets type mould of winning the ball and moving it on that has been missing since Fabinho left.
Anyone know if he is of interest as it does look like Bouaddi could end up elsewhere then fees attached to Wharton and Scott seem excessive.
25 Jun 2026 11:09:16
Didn't Robbo say a fee was greed for 86million? Yet no fee has been agreed.
{Ed001's Note - how do you know that no fee has been agreed? Let's be honest, you know f all, so why come on and criticise others?}
25 Jun 2026 11:24:58
Chema is someone Iraola wanted at Bournemouth. No idea if he's being looked at by Liverpool.
I'd assume it's a recycled story.
Ta.
25 Jun 2026 11:27:30
Highly rated Spanish no6. More of an anchor than a destroyer. Similar physical attributes and style of play to Rodri. He plays alongside Angelo Stiller.
Real Madrid have an option to buy him back, apparently.
25 Jun 2026 11:28:41
Cheers, Carra, mate.
25 Jun 2026 11:35:42
Chema Andres looks a big physical unit who'd dominate midfield. Speaks fluent English too so settling in should be fine as well.
25 Jun 2026 11:41:25
Flo Worzt, Robbo said he was told a fee was agreed for around £90m. That doesn't mean all parameters of the deal have been agreed upon. There are many factors which can delay negotiations, like this little tournament they have going on at the moment.
Maybe Leipzig are looking for a sell-on clause, or still trying to have the player loaned back for a year. Nothing will be announced until everything's finalised. Unlike you, Robbo has a track record of producing quality information. You, on the other hand...
25 Jun 2026 11:26:32
Well said ed
25 Jun 2026 11:53:19
So glad to have seen this post and see Ed give you a good talking to Flo and then props to you Chewy as well, spot on with what you said, I understand this a rumours site and an open forum but my goodness some live to complain and contradict ones with a track record of getting things right, i'd rather live in hope than assume the negative things I see are truthful.
Once again ty Eds for what you do and Carra, Robbo, Fields, VictorG & Ned!
25 Jun 2026 12:10:10
Carra, much appreciated for the update, hopefully ends up like another Munoz situation if Iraola is getting a bit of a say in dealings!
25 Jun 2026 14:06:44
Thanks, Carra. I saw Chema play vs Bayern in the Pokal final, and cos I didn't know who he was, I wasn't paying attention.
Hopefully, if we can get him, that would be nice esp. if Iraola wanted him at B'mouth and still wants him.
25 Jun 2026 15:43:42
Ed001, to correct you, I'm the one that knows
F all on here, mines actually a Sweet FA also, so don't be giving my accolade away please! 🤣
Criticism is a no go though.
{Ed001's Note - apologies HH, but it seems you are not alone!}
25 Jun 2026 09:26:42
Lot of talk that our 2nd bid for Diomande has been rejected, can anyone confirm this?
25 Jun 2026 09:50:39
Why believe these 'talks'? Just read what Robbo, Carra, Fields have posted. That's all the info you need. Ignore all the other garbage churned out each and every hour.
25 Jun 2026 09:59:39
Have a funny feeling. If this is to be true, it's just a case of RB Leipzig looking to appear to be strong and wanting to keep their asset, but they know he is leaving, feel we get news, and positive news at that, tomorrow after Ivory Coast play tonight, and go through to the knockout stages of the WC.
As Shanklys Ghost said above, choosing to listen to Carra, Robbo, Fields etc about it being done and just small details and the right time to announce it.
25 Jun 2026 10:47:03
Sounds like a rinse and repeat of the Newcastle and Isak stance last year... the danger of it dragging is a repeat of his fitness etc., although he's playing in the WC so less of a concern, but I guess it could just be because he's at the World Cup too and Leipzig are hoping he throws in a couple of superstar performances so they can demand more money.
All in all, it sounds like he wants the move and we are happy to pay decent money, so hopefully it gets done, although be nice to get it wrapped up soon as we have other business needs doing too.
25 Jun 2026 10:49:22
My two cents worth is, thanks to this site, what happens and what is portrayed in the media are two very different things.
The Fabrizio's and Sky's of the world imply that a bid goes in and then we are waiting at the other end like a drunken teenager waiting for their crush. People then get a rejection and wait three - four days before responding. Process repeats until agreed or someone gives up.
These things are about dialogue and what gets out is probably 2-3 days behind. Depending on sources etc. The whole 'bid' narrative is just an easy way to digest it and sell stories.
The posters on here, Carra and Fields, have said it was done, barring the structure of the deal and payments. This news is probably just that information getting out into the mainstream.
25 Jun 2026 10:55:46
One site saying that Marcel Shafer (Leipzig's Sporting Director) promised Klopp that they'd keep Diomande for another season.
No idea if true.
25 Jun 2026 11:26:11
I think. As Diomande is currently one of the bigger transfer rumours, then the press will milk this for all it's worth, so be prepared for lots of conflicting reports, which ensures they get their clicks.
25 Jun 2026 11:44:06
Spot on McGoverb, in this kind of situation, no development is just as much an opportunity to sell a story for the journos.
25 Jun 2026 11:55:50
Ed002 used to say he will not provide blow by blow updates.
Transfers take time, I would just wait for what the known ITKs say since they are good at updating us when things are happening.
25 Jun 2026 13:29:38
Spot on, Chicken. Pretty sure that one of Carra, Robbo or Fields said as much, and that RB needed to appear like they had done all they could to keep him, but in truth pretty much everything was all but agreed, just timings now.
25 Jun 2026 13:36:27
Going to be difficult to get this deal over the line before Liverpool's self-imposed Sunday deadline. 😔
25 Jun 2026 14:22:59
I said at the start of the World Cup, that Leipzig will not do a deal till the Ivory Coast are eliminated. Like I said, FSG won't sack Slott till the review of the season was done.
25 Jun 2026 14:23:15
Fully agree, @Chicken.
25 Jun 2026 14:54:41
I wonder what the contingency is if Diomande (sensibly) stays at RBL for one more season?
Personally, I am unconvinced that Barcola would adapt well to the rigours of the Prem.
I would not be against Andoni getting most of what he needs whilst assessing what he already has before spending 120m on 1 player.
My sense is that he will bring through a couple of young players unexpectedly.
24 Jun 2026 22:22:58
Guela Doue from Salzburg perhaps for RB now Chelsea sign Palestra AnfieldWatch say could be an option for us as his path is blocked to cheski.
24 Jun 2026 22:13:29
Guela Doue is being linked with us, he is 23 year old right back playing for Strasbourg & Ivory Coast. Was meant to join up with Chelsea, but not happening now as Palestra is signing.
25 Jun 2026 14:23:50
Isn't that Desire Doue's brother?
24 Jun 2026 18:46:17
Latest rumour is Fran Garcia. Real Madrid's lb who played under Iraola. Last year of deal could be available for less than £10m.
24 Jun 2026 20:22:30
A very good Spanish friend of mine is a Real Madrid fanatic and works for the club in some capacity. I asked him about Fran Garcia, and he texted me the following
' Hi Bro, he defends very well on the left side, good physical condition for Premier, not really 🔝 about technic but good attitude.'
No idea what he's talking about, but I hope someone can work it out.
😀
24 Jun 2026 20:50:56
I think he comes in for Tsimikas.
24 Jun 2026 21:15:32
Honestly, don't see the point of another non HG left back. Waste of a non HG space. Chambers or Beck would make more sense as a back up.
24 Jun 2026 21:48:27
If Kerkez had a long injury, I wouldn't be comfortable with just Chambers or Beck.
24 Jun 2026 22:08:35
There's absolutely no reason to think Kerkez will have a bad injury, AZ, and both Beck & Chambers are capable left backs. Waste of a non HG space to give it to a mediocre Spanish left back.
24 Jun 2026 22:11:33
I can't even work out what Bro means.
24 Jun 2026 22:23:11
Even Alan Turing couldn't work that one out lads. 🤔
24 Jun 2026 23:05:23
Viktor, Beck is injury prone and about to turn 24. His future is elsewhere. Chambers had a good loan, but needs another one. Same with Scanlon.
24 Jun 2026 23:24:57
Still, rather not waste a non HG space on a mediocre Real Madrid cast off. Non HG spaces are like gold dust.
24 Jun 2026 23:25:28
AZ,
Chambers and Beck will never play for Liverpool's first team. I don't get how so many social media supporters think every kid in the Academy should get games in the first team. Do they want to support a mid-table team struggling to get a Conference League spot? Chambers and Beck are at the older end of the Academy groups and their chance has passed.
24 Jun 2026 23:34:02
Their chance? They never got one. Never seen them given an opportunity, as they are always on loan.
24 Jun 2026 23:39:14
Not saying they should be first choice, Kemlyn, saying one of them is more than capable as back up. It makes absolutely no sense spunking money on Real Madrid dross to waste a non home grown space, because that's what signing Garcia would amount to.
25 Jun 2026 00:27:01
If Tsimikas comes back, doesn't he take that hg spot, Viktor? In theory you can have no home grown players in the squad. It just means the squad size is reduced to 22.
25 Jun 2026 00:55:42
The day we have no home grown players in our squad will be the day the club loses its identity.
Everyone is clamouring for foreign players in the league. There are players out there losing chances due to mediocre players being signed. We need to find a better way to balance the teams.
Players coming into the league in their mid 20's are going to be a quick fix and the kids will never get a chance.
It is time to incentivise teams to use academy players or sign from the Championship. Football is leaving the working class behind and we are all cheering for it. It won't be long before we are priced out of going to a match. You can forget about bringing your family to the match as these mediocre players need paid through the nose.
25 Jun 2026 01:31:57
Bring Trent home. 😁
25 Jun 2026 01:33:38
Why have a youth academy if we are so adverse to using it? The main criticism aimed at Slot was that he didn't use our youth players enough and here are two LBs from our academy who have had multiple good seasons out on loan and should be more than capable to make up our squad, but we are now saying they should be sold in favour of bringing in an older LB instead.
I'm with Vik on this. There is no need to bring in an LB to be back up when we have Tsimikas, Beck, and Chambers still with us. Even if Tsimikas is sold, Beck and Chambers should be more than enough to be back up to Kerkez.
25 Jun 2026 02:01:57
I think we should buy the best three players in the world for each position in the team. Doesn't automatically mean we'd have the best squad or team in the world...
25 Jun 2026 07:59:46
Keegans Purm, you are correct that you can have no HG players in the squad if you want. However, it would actually reduce the squad size to 17. List A is basically up to 17 non-HG players and a maximum of 25 players. As many of them as you want can be HG, but ideally you want 8 so you can fill your whole 25 man allocation for depth. Any player over 21 must be listed and, additionally, any player under 21 who hasn't been at the club a minimum of 2 years must also be listed.
In my opinion, our lack of decent HG players is a problem. Our HG first team players last season were Woodman (average and out of contract), Frimpong (struggling to adapt), Bradley (injury prone), Gomez (injury prone), Nyoni (18 years old), Rio (18 years old) and Jones (wants to leave to Inter). It was already putting an over reliance on the 17 non-HG players because we were effectively playing with a significantly reduced squad size.
Victor is right, we shouldn't waste one of 17 spaces on a player like Fran Garcia.
It's debateable whether we should even waste it on Tsimikas, and he's actually proven in the Prem.
Next season, assuming Jones joins Woodman on the exit conveyor, we'd have Elliott, Frimpong, Bradley and Gomez as the current 4 HG players. The good news is that Rio and Nyoni will have been at the club long enough to be added to List B, so they'll no longer have to be part of List A in order to play. List B, you can have unlimited u21's as long as they've been at the club for at least 2 seasons.
There is definitely a strong argument towards keeping one of the young LB's as back up. Personally I'd have kept Luca Stephenson as a utility player, but he looks set to sign for Bolton. Lewis Koumas, James McConnell, Stefan Bajcetic, Luke Chambers, Kaide Gordon and Owen Beck are also eligible to be registered as HG next season, so it'll be interesting to see if they're promoted to the first team.
25 Jun 2026 08:30:15
Mk, great post, thanks for clarifying it for me. On the Woodman front, I do believe he is now staying for another year, as on Transfermarkt his contract now states 2027 not 2026, so they may have given him another year or had it wrong in the first place.
25 Jun 2026 08:58:51
Unless Beck or Chambers are good enough to play in our first 11, then they should not be considered as back up for Kerkez regardless of their HG status. The only judgement should be their ability to adequately fill the spot and provide stiff competition for Kerkez, so standards don't slip.
Tsimikis doesn't fit that bill, and I doubt that either of Beck or Chambers do either. They'd have made the step up by now, if so. If we don't have one on our books, we need to purchase one, and they need to fit the above profile. It isn't complicated.
25 Jun 2026 09:02:15
Kaide Gordon defo being released by the club. Sure, I read Beck will be sold.
25 Jun 2026 09:12:05
It's not impossible that with Iraola's high energy football that we will see both fullbacks working their bits off for 60 mins and then being substituted for fresh legs. At that point we would need 2 potential starters in both positions.
25 Jun 2026 10:14:10
I'm not saying buy this Garcia guy, as I've never heard of him before this post, but we do need decent cover for Kerkez.
I personally have never seen Chambers or Beck play, so I don't know if they're any good, but Kerkez won't be able to play the full 90 in up to 60 games.
Also, what happens if Kerkez does his Achilles like Ekitike, or gets a broken leg like Isak, or does his ACL like Leoni? What then? Would you be comfortable with Chambers or Beck starting every game and playing the full 90?
Again, I haven't seen either play, but those are the questions we need to answer in order to know if they're good enough to be "cover" for Kerkez.
I'd personally like a utility type player who can cover either fullback position, someone like Pallestra but I don't think we're going for him.
25 Jun 2026 10:28:09
I agree, Gregarious
I'm all for using academy players if they're good enough or have the potential to be. Beck and Chambers have barely played for us. If that was Slot's fault, then fair enough, but if Kerkez has a long term injury (I think it's very presumptuous saying he definitely won't - we should always prepare for this in some capacity), then I would be uncomfortable with Chambers and Beck as first choice LB.
I'd rather keep Tsimikas for a year and then see how Chambers or Beck are doing after a potential loan. If Tsimikas is going, of course I'd prefer a HG player, but not at the expense of the right player.
