Sly reporting Henderson to join Gerard if true and Thiago goes then that’s def 2 more coming in.

Bfddom

1.) 04 Jul 2023 01:32:02
Is that the way it works - sell one, buy one?

2.) 04 Jul 2023 04:00:53
I could see 1 ready-made midfielder coming in and 1 of the younger guys not going out on loan if that's the case.

Or maybe a cheap young mid with potential being brought in.

Hard to know until we know more.

3.) 04 Jul 2023 07:44:34
Don’t see hendo as the type to be honest.

4.) 04 Jul 2023 07:54:18
Can see Gerrard going for Coutinho. Not sure Hendo would go though, or if he'd want Thiago.

5.) 04 Jul 2023 08:41:58
I think we need to keep some experienced players in midfield ie Henderson.

6.) 04 Jul 2023 09:16:15
Maybe in the minority but would love this to be true. Hendo isn’t happy when he’s not playing, it was only a year or two ago he said he’d move on if he wasn’t in the starting line up so we get a fee, he gets a huge payday and we can give his minutes to someone else.

7.) 04 Jul 2023 10:05:30
Could see one of them two going but not both. It would be too much upheaval at once. Would prefer to see Fabinho going, although, maybe he just had a blip last season and all this new blood might give him a new lease of life. Either way, it’s great to see some midfielders coming in, instead of winger/ strikers, that aren’t really sure which one they are, which seems to be our preferred choice of signing in recent years.

8.) 04 Jul 2023 10:11:50
2+2+2 paper talk can’t see it myself.

9.) 04 Jul 2023 10:38:12
Could do with Gerrard doing us a favour and taking players like Matip and Thiago for big fee's.

10.) 04 Jul 2023 11:40:44
@Firmane, I didn’t think Gerrard the type to go there tbh.

11.) 04 Jul 2023 12:36:07
Losing Hendo and Milner would be a problem for me. Having leaders on the pitch is very important and helps keep standards up for the younger players. VVD and Ali are leaders but Hendo is key. He might not always be the best in his position but his motivation to others shouldn't be undervalued IMO.

12.) 04 Jul 2023 13:55:22
We need Hendo for the HG quota if nothing else.

13.) 04 Jul 2023 14:47:42
Hendo is going nowhere, IMO.

14.) 04 Jul 2023 14:53:28
Hendo is the least likely of the 3 older MF's to be sold, surely he is the next for the Milner role.
Having said that, Hendo, Fab and Thiago's wages must be a tidy packet and Jorge is all about squad size and efficiency.

15.) 04 Jul 2023 15:18:20
Interested to know what exactly is "the type"

Kostas signed new contract is that to protect his value or are we going to actually start playing him more
What you all thinking?

Bfddom

1.) 09 Sep 2023 09:17:40
Reliable player and excellent cover for AR. From all the video I’ve seen of him on LFCTV he looks like a really good lad who is popular amongst the squad. If he’s happy to sign a longer contract he seems perfect to keep around.

2.) 09 Sep 2023 10:01:37
It’s a good move provided he’s on a wage that reflects his place in the squad - none of this 100k+ a week nonsense we’ve given to squad players in the past. If Robertson has a renaissance, Tsimikas is fine as cover. Otherwise, we should sell him and upgrade on Robertson.

3.) 09 Sep 2023 11:10:21
Love both Robbo and Tsimikas, I think we have two of the best and hardest working LB's in the league.

4.) 09 Sep 2023 11:21:10
Robertson/ Tsimikas is fine if we're going to play the fullbacks how we should (high and wide) and not have them tucking in as another CB Realistically though Robertson is still good but his best days were like 2 or 3 years ago he's not getting better, should be on the lookout for a left back to take over.

5.) 09 Sep 2023 11:53:45
OP I would hope it indicates we are going to play a traditional 4 at the back with the fullbacks given licence to move forward even if it means the CB and Trent swapping whilst we are in possession as we did v Villa. I still don’t like it, but it’s better than it was. Playing from CB might shore up the defensive fragility in transition, but I still don’t think it’s getting the most out of our most talented player. I Will argue the toss that Trent should be on the right side of the midfield 3 until the day he retires or I die!

6.) 09 Sep 2023 12:20:05
Options for the club, either for formation or if they want to sell later ?‍♂️.

7.) 09 Sep 2023 13:09:02
Brilliant news. To compete with ManCity we need top players covering every position like them.

8.) 09 Sep 2023 18:59:03
If he is willing to stay and if the club and Klopp want him to stay then, it is a great move for him and the club.

9.) 09 Sep 2023 19:17:11
Apparently Robbo wanted a move to the Saudi league in the summer. The move was rejected by Shallow-Al because Robbo isn't gay enough.

10.) 09 Sep 2023 20:30:32
Tsimi, the Big Div of our left side defence ?.

11.) 10 Sep 2023 06:37:17
Just like we sold Nat Philips, didn’t we @Ron. Pretty sure this is coming purely from Klopp.

12.) 10 Sep 2023 06:58:17
Whoever it came from it was just common sense. We have two left backs with PL experience and one had a contract coming to an end at the end of the season.

25 Aug 2023 23:28:47
Got to say dom has been my fav player so far this season and he’s still settling in which means he will get even better I think we have a serious talent here
What are other people’s fav performers so far this season?

Bfddom

1.) 26 Aug 2023 01:53:42
Tough to choose between Diaz, Szoboszlai and Virg. All had strong starts this time around.

2.) 26 Aug 2023 01:58:41
I really like the look of both Jones and Elliott so far. Nothing spectacular, I just don't know how to elaborate them further.

3.) 26 Aug 2023 03:01:25
Curtis Jones just oozes pure class what a chap hope he stays fit.

4.) 26 Aug 2023 04:37:09
Is that you Curtis?

5.) 26 Aug 2023 09:25:34
I'm relieved with VVD's form. Certainly better than last year's, and will help tremendously in settling down what is still an uneasy defense.

6.) 26 Aug 2023 09:52:30
Haizan are you talking about Jones as a player in general because he played 24 mins of the first game and missed the second and is due to miss the 3rd because of injury.

The player who seems to have gone under the radar for not having a good start is Gakpo. Listened to an analysis last night and over the two games he has the lowest pass completion of every player including Jota (the site whipping boy) and has averaged around 26 passes a game. Szlob on the other side averages 50.

This’ll sound like a Gakpo bashing but it’s not. I think he should be first choice centre forward by a country mile but he’s being asked to play a position he’s not that good or comfortable in.

7.) 26 Aug 2023 10:58:19
Interesting points JK23.
I think we know, though, that Gakpo is being asked to do a temporary job in midfield.
Needs must and all that.
Bobby did it from time to time.
I can actually remember Kevin Keegan playing in midfield for Liverpool in 74 (I think) whilst Phil Boersma took his CF position for a while.
I think it reflects well on the player's character rather than criticising their performance.
It also reflects that midfield reinforcement is still required.

8.) 26 Aug 2023 11:35:12
Juicer 100% agree mate.

I really like Gakpo but I think he’s wasted in midfield. The other thing that came out was Jones attempted and completed more passes in his 24 mins than Gakpo did in his 66 mins against Chelsea.

Gakpo at centre forward looks excellent he is able to hold the ball up, link play, dribble, press and is a goal threat.

I think once Mac Alister moves forward into his preferred position and Klopp settles on who the Dm is then we will start controlling games a lot more and be even more threatening in attack and hopefully more solid out of possession.

Newcastle have a quality midfield and as a team have apparently covered the most distance over the first 2 games so it’s going a be a tough game tomorrow.

There’s 6 days left of the window so perhaps the rebuild isn’t finished yet but I can’t really remember us getting someone late in a window that’s turned out to be a success. I’m thinking Arthur, Kabak Caulker etc.

Im sure all of our success stories were bought earlier. I might be wrong about Suarez and Diaz etc they might have come in late but in Jan when the windows open a month then bringing in a player early or late is a matter of days.

Hi guys doucoures playing tonight does that mean that we are not close to signing him? Cheers guys.

Bfddom

1.) 21 Aug 2023 20:45:03
Yeah I don’t think there has ever been any suggestion that we’re close to signing him to be fair. That could change anytime though (if we are after him)

2.) 21 Aug 2023 20:49:31
Yes clearly.

3.) 21 Aug 2023 20:59:31
He playing tonight, really hadn’t noticed.

4.) 21 Aug 2023 21:10:22
I can’t see us being serious enough to bud on him tbh. Plus only a week to go on the window it’s looking like Endo will get plenty of game time.

5.) 21 Aug 2023 21:42:20
Doesn’t look great anyway. If anything seems quite laboured and not great on the ball. Jogs around the pitch in 1st gear a bit too much for me. First time I’ve properly watched him play and not convinced he’s what we need at all.

6.) 21 Aug 2023 21:47:56
Not worth £60m in my opinion but having said that if Caicedo and Lavia are worth £115m and £58m maybe Doucoure is actually a bargain in this market at that price. It's a bad joke that the games been allowed to spiral this far out of control financially.

7.) 21 Aug 2023 22:02:59
MK I reckon Palace would want more than £60m anyway, which is ridiculous. The market is crazy. I just wish we could scout players better. I'm amazed we don't use the South American market more.

8.) 21 Aug 2023 22:39:46
Hopefully they'll go for Andre and bring them in January. I think Endo feel that role for the time being.

9.) 21 Aug 2023 22:49:10
paying so much money for an athlete to run about and make tackles just seems insane to me.

I'm all for finding the right player to fill that role and we pay what we see as value. All these guys we want to sell an arm to buy weren't worth that a season or two ago.

10.) 21 Aug 2023 23:10:26
Leeroy most premier league teams scout the South American market extensively but it’s hard for them to get work permits in the uk so transfers are generally difficult unless they are already established international players.

That’s why a lot of these players end up in Portugal first.

11.) 22 Aug 2023 00:01:34
They want £70m.

12.) 22 Aug 2023 04:25:29
We got a World Cup winner and the captain of the Japanese national tam for between £50-60m, there are very good bargains to be had.

13.) 22 Aug 2023 09:07:58
I think Andre Trindade, Kephren Thuram, Manu Kone and Gravenberch are very similar players, with Kone probably being the most defensive of the lot. And that's what we should be looking at, despite signing Endo, and having Bajcetic in the wings. I would stop messing around with putting in players like TAA and Mac Allister in that DM position in case of injury, suspension or whatever else. Just go out and get a second defensively oriented midfielder and do some kind of rotation between him and Endo throughout the season.

14.) 22 Aug 2023 09:35:51
Agree with ArAY. I cannot believe people are content with Endo to lead a title challange. One of our biggest weakness area on the pitch for about 18 months and we have done absolutely nothing to recticy so far.

15.) 22 Aug 2023 10:00:54
We aren’t challenging for the title this year. Top 4 at best and Endo may be enough to secure that. Not ideal but I don’t think there is a player on the market currently that is good enough to transform us into title contenders.

16.) 22 Aug 2023 10:27:27
Habibi - has the transfer window closed where you live?

17.) 22 Aug 2023 10:52:21
Harry, stop agreeing with me; puts me in the position of having to agree with you. And that would be supremely painful. ?.

18.) 22 Aug 2023 11:32:36
Lads midfield a lot stronger than it was last season, let's be honest

We can all debate whether or not we go a splurge 70-100m on a new cdm but do we seriously just neglect the back 4?

Honestly a midfield 3 comprised of a mixture of Dom, MacAllister, Trent, Endo, Thiago, Bacjetic, Jones or Elliott isn't that bad is it?

The thing with Endo though is that he will not block Bacjetic's progression into the side - if the club want to give him a future as a cdm then Endo not a bad one to work alongside is he?

Personally, I would really like a cb. I know everyone is crying out for a lcb but I just want a cb - I would like us to simply play the 4-3-3, we look more stable playing that way let's face it and either play Trent in midfield or as an attacking rb, not both.

19.) 22 Aug 2023 11:52:24
Habibi, what about MacAllister and Szob? What about shipping out Henderson, Fabinho, Ox, Keita and Milner.
I'd say that's doing quite a lot.

20.) 22 Aug 2023 12:54:31
Job half done @Rigsby, the other half?

21.) 22 Aug 2023 16:15:16
We already have a better midfield than we did last season. That much is clear. Can we always upgrade? Of course and that is what the club is doing now. As to who will come in, Andre hopefully will join in Jan. Many on here don't rate Gravenberch but if he is who Klopp wants then, so be it. Doucoure? If he starts to cost a too much then, I don't see us doing that deal. Just my take.

22.) 22 Aug 2023 19:11:53
So we haven't done 'absolutely nothing' to rectify the midfield weakness of last season, Habibi?

{Ed025's Note - if you answer these people Rigsby it only encourages them mate..

23.) 22 Aug 2023 20:39:36
Rigsby if what Habibi wants has not been done yet then, nothing has been done. It's what he does.

24.) 22 Aug 2023 21:41:09
You're right, Ed025 and Oli.
I'm a glutton for punishment but I can't help myself ?.

{Ed025's Note - i know its difficult at times Rigsby, but just imagine you are in the park and there is a massive sign...DONT FEED THE TROLLS! mate.. :)

11 Aug 2023 08:33:49
Hi guys so if caicaido comes in do people still think we need another mid and cb or just a cb I’m still thinking we need another cm and cb we still lack in depth and if Thiago goes that would leave us short of 1st team mids cheers guys things are looking good never thought we’d even attempt to spend over 100m on 1 player fair play.

Bfddom

1.) 11 Aug 2023 08:44:41
We definitely need a LCB to play the hybrid set up. I would personally like one more mid to come in over the top. Thiago only wants Barcelona and they don't have the money. so he stays.

2.) 11 Aug 2023 08:54:42
Cb is a priority for me.

3.) 11 Aug 2023 09:00:42
I think if anything we need to find a loan for Morton now as he's not getting anywhere near the pitch next season for us now. Midfield is fully stocked.

We do still need a CB though in my opinion and by my count we have 1 non-HG slot left so we can broaden our horizons into Europe.

4.) 11 Aug 2023 09:06:17
If Trent goes into midfield from time to time and Bradley/ Gomez play RB then no, I think we’ll be alright. That’s pretty good depth with Elliot, jones, bajetic.

I just hope we go back to 433 now. Still, caicedo gives me far more hope that the new system could be workable.

5.) 11 Aug 2023 09:15:49
No need for another midfielder now, but I do think they may try for Andre in january. We desperately need at LEAST one centre back. I also feel it essential that Phillips, Matip and Tsimikas are moved on, but I’m not confident they will be. Probably Schuurs and then we’ll be done is my prediction.

6.) 11 Aug 2023 09:20:01
I don’t Morton was ever going to get a sniff imo. I think Thiago should consider moving on too and another midfielder purchased to take his place. That would be perfect.

A new CB seems unlikely at the moment but you never know.

7.) 11 Aug 2023 09:34:13
Agreed, Irish. I think the emergence of Bajcetic has greatly affected Morton's prospects with us. I think Thiago should be moved on too. Enough of this "walk away into the horizon on a free at the end of the contract" stuff. It's not good business.

And now Thuram and Schuurs would be the icing on the cake. It's Super Fan Sunshine Day today. ? ? ?.

8.) 11 Aug 2023 09:52:35
Yeah it was already going to be tough for him Irish Rover. Thiago, Macca, Jones, Trent and Bajcetic were probably all ahead of him for the DM role. Caicedo definitely will be! Best if he finds a loan once his broken foot's healed.

ArAy, i really don't think Thiago wants to leave. Most reliable sources say he is focused on Liverpool. He'll probably go back to Spain on a free transfer next summer. I also would rather have his experience and leadership in the squad given every other midfielder at the club is under 24 years old now.

9.) 11 Aug 2023 10:05:49
I actually think Caicedo changes our tactics somewhat and tweaks the hybrid system dropping into a back 3 with Virg and Ibou with Trent and Robbo both wandering and covering more of the midfield positions but not as central well maybe not as central for Robbo as Trent will be. Maybe a little bit like a narrow back 5 in transitions of play or even transitioning into a back 4 at times to counteract teams counterattacking us, Caicedo covering whichever fullback is out of position?

Reading it back that doesn't make sense but i know what i mean ???.

10.) 11 Aug 2023 11:09:39
CB all day, everyday.

11.) 11 Aug 2023 11:10:10
Great signing! But in my opinion in which I’m ha! I just think if we had £110m lying around wouldn’t Lavia at 19, homegrown etc for £50m and have a spare £60m for a defender which we badly need also?

12.) 11 Aug 2023 11:32:44
If were doing hybrid its a leftfull who's comfortable moving across. Bastoni would be perfect but good luck to that. Maybe Chambers will get a go.

01 Jul 2023 01:05:04
So if dom comes in who’s set piece taker this season coming?

Bfddom

1.) 01 Jul 2023 01:52:13
Our two midfield free kick specialists Trent and Dom will mix it up.

2.) 01 Jul 2023 01:57:43
Trent for me but the more competition the better.

3.) 01 Jul 2023 02:14:14
Good to have a mix anyway. Mac is a master of the ones ones nearer to the edge of the box, Dom has that Ronaldo/ Bale technique so he’ll fancy the 30+ yard ones. Trent is pretty good at both.

4.) 01 Jul 2023 08:12:54
Does anyone know if either or both are good corner takers?

5.) 01 Jul 2023 08:31:32
Think DS takes the corners for RB, JK.

6.) 02 Jul 2023 08:39:29
We have options. That’s the most important thing. They can play rock, paper, scissors to find out who will take them.

I hope Klopp stays for longer not sure if he will but what other manager apart from pep can do what he does we havnt had a manager like Klopp in my life time of supporting this club some say Roy evans but to me klopp is special irreplaceable in my eyes I’d rather loose salah than klopp and that’s saying some thing.
