Only managed to see first 20 odd minutes as my stream kept dropping. Was really happy and thought I was going to come on here in the morning and post about how great it was to see us actually pressing and looking more like our old selves.
Then I woke up and checked the score. So what happened guys did we completely fall apart?

Same old mate. They just battered us like Brighton etc
No midfield No urgency No tackles.
Just like every other game of the season walking around BUT I won’t have it that they’ve tools down. I will NOT have any of it. ? riiiiight.

2.) 22 Feb 2023 14:58:33
'Just like every other game of the season', 8? That's an exaggeration, isn't it?
Do you reckon they have downed tools because they are not behind Klopp? Or is it FSG they are not behind?

3.) 22 Feb 2023 15:09:13
Many players are just ball watching. Seem unmotivated and have become weak mentality monsters.

4.) 22 Feb 2023 15:20:34
I think any analysis you get now will be skewed.
Gomez and Henderson left VJ too much space for the first,
I’m not sure what Ali was doing for the second, poor ball by Baj,
Very poor set piece
Unlucky deflection ( we caused our own problems but Ali comfortably saves that without the deflection)
We’d given up totally by the 5th

There’s no excuse for heads dropping the way they did, they came out for a game second half and we weren’t prepared, but I will argue there was a touch of fortune to their goals.

5.) 22 Feb 2023 15:31:19
Haha same, I fell asleep at 2-0, had a lovely peaceful sleep and even dreamt about Liverpool beating madrid!

6.) 22 Feb 2023 16:13:23
Easypeasysqueezy, same mistakes we saw vs Everton, Brighton and Wolves. Nothing new to see really. We're still the same fragile team we've always been all season. It is what it is.

7.) 22 Feb 2023 17:52:18
Rigsby, I don’t think it is an exaggeration mate.
We’ve been rubbish every other game. Been okay half and rubbish the other half, hence why we’re halfway down the table i think that’s Fair?
Personally, I think they’ve downed tools because of the lack of investment in key areas. I’m basing that on my opinion alone, nothing else.
I would like to know your opinion on the problems, YOUR opinion, not ed001’s opinion we know his thoughts, they are highlighted in Red.

What does Rigsby think the problem is.

8.) 22 Feb 2023 18:09:48
Baj can't be criticised for the 2nd, sure he loses possession but we regain it and are in no danger at all untill Alli's error.

9.) 22 Feb 2023 19:22:16
That’s fair Jude, and yeah Olie, same old same old.

10.) 22 Feb 2023 23:29:16
I disagree with the downed tools part LFC8. I don't think our players are not performing as a form of protest because of the lack of signings. That, I feel, is just you projecting what you feel onto them. You feel upset and angry at the lack of signings and expect the players to feel the same way.

I think their confidence is just shot and they don't believe in their quality anymore. They seem to be very tentative on their play and when mistakes are made, their head instantly drop. They don't believe that they can turn things around anymore. We were 'mentality konsters' once upon a time but that tag has long gone.

I still think we can turn things around this season if Klopp can somehow get this bunch to believe in themselves again but Klopp also seems like a shadow of his former self. Someone on here wrote that Klopp is struggling with mental health concerns after the passing of his mother and dog and that, if true, explains why he's not the same anymore.

11.) 22 Feb 2023 23:34:25
Yup. Fragile team that doesn't believe it can win. And the fanbase can feel it too. I didn't see any posts declaring "we're back" after the last two wins. Just posts saying "good win, well played etc etc". Because the fanbase knows that this team can falter at any moment.

Shades of losing the title against Crystal Palace under Rodgers. 3 up and needing just a win, but conceding 3 goals in the last 15 minutes to end up with a draw.

12.) 22 Feb 2023 23:46:23
LFC8, Rigsby thinks there are lots of reasons.
Hangover from last season.
Lack of investment.
Injuries to key players.
Loss of form for key players.
Ageing squad.
A reliance on young inexperienced players.

I'm sure there are more reasons but the manager will do his best to get us back to our best. Our best might no longer be PL or CL Champions but we have done both under Klopp and FSG.

What new owners and manager will give us both again, LiverpoolFC8?

Not that we've signed him yet but with all the rumors thought this might be worth posting. Just read a piece on sky sports about Darwin Nunez's weaknesses. They wrote about him suspending his social media, blocking people and avoiding comments (not sure how he blocked people and avoided comments after suspending his social media but hey that's journalist logic I suppose) when he went through a bad patch and fans got on his back. They thought this was a weakness as it shows he can't deal with criticism. I think it shows a bit of maturity. Rather than getting depressed by negative comments or saying something stupid in response he just avoided the problem altogether. Curious to know what everyone else's thoughts are? Personally I think it would be best if players avoided social media as much as possible.

DirtyMic

1.) 09 Jun 2022 18:28:57
Sounds to me like maturity beyond his years. So are Sky now going to praise Richarlison for his social media outbursts seeing as he replies to his criticism? I know what i'd prefer from our players!

2.) 09 Jun 2022 18:36:06
Generally, when a player is linked to us through every media outlet - we don’t sign them….

3.) 09 Jun 2022 18:39:07
Nunez has phoned Jurgen and told him his first and only choice is LFC.

He also told Jurgen that he is having his Honeymoon in Wales,
When Jurgen enquired where in Wales he and his new bride would be, he said "he was going to Bangor for a fortnight"!

4.) 09 Jun 2022 18:41:12
My full views on social media aren't really printable.

In short I think Nunez is a smart bloke if he deactivated or suspended his social media profiles in response to people being knobs.

5.) 09 Jun 2022 18:42:14
If tuning out keyboard warriors harassing him is his biggest weakness, then he must be a hell of a player.

6.) 09 Jun 2022 19:21:36
How reacting to social media is reflective of or connected to over par or sub par football performance (which is what Sky is trying to imply) is, frankly, beyond me. I mean, you could have a fight with a wife or a gifriend that day, and still shut down your online presence. What's next? How he likes his eggs in the morning?

7.) 10 Jun 2022 03:37:18
Normally I would say avoiding a problem altogether is not a healthy response. But probably a good thing. Seems a bit hard to say with limited other info about what happened?

Would just like to say what amazing professionals Mane and Salah are and that their fitness is impeccable. Both played a ton of football at the Afcon and we've just had Ramadan so they were fasting for the last month. Both started most games in that period.

DirtyMic

1.) 06 May 2022 18:04:11
Since Mane has switched positions he has been unstoppable.

Also both players have gone through the wringer emotionally whilst playing for there countries.

Plenty more still to come from them both before this season is done.

2.) 06 May 2022 18:58:23
As the saying goes the best ability is availability and both them have been almost impeccable with that since the day they signed.

3.) 07 May 2022 12:58:18
Agreed. salah has struggled since afcon, but appears to be getting better. Could we not put him through middle to get a few goals and help his confidence. Not today obviously.

Was surprised to see Morton start again with the other midfielders coming back from injury, but I'm really happy for the lad. The experience will have done him good.
On another note the club seem to have done quite well lately, at integrating and using the academy lads as cover. Obviously Trent is the big success, but Gomez is also a very important part of the squad (I know we bought him but he did spend some time in the youth ranks) . Kelleher also has an important role as 2nd choice keeper. Jones stepped up well last season under really difficult circumstances and Elliot looks set to be a star. Then of course we have Williams who I think a lot of people would be excited by, as a prospect if we didn't already have the best right back in the world.

DirtyMic

1.) 08 Dec 2021 13:23:36
I personally would be quite happy to see Morton deputise for Fabinho in the Premier league. Seem to have a good temperament about him and will only get better the more he plays.

2.) 08 Dec 2021 13:49:21
Agreed mane mane remember Chelsea played Billy gilmour and he didn't look out of place in the Premier league so why not maybe continue bringing him on when 2 or 3 nil up give him more and more minutes.

3.) 08 Dec 2021 14:24:11
Billy Gilmore looked the part for Chelsea in the PL the first time I saw him. Not sure why they sent him out on loan and signed Saul who even tho I wanted him at LFC, is simply not built for the rough and tumble nature it brings.

Morton on the other hand, needs to pace himself and get used to the first team tempo and intensity first before starting in Fab's place, IMO. Not everyone can play that role for us the way Fab does. I would give Morton more time to develop and then hopefully, he should be ready.

4.) 08 Dec 2021 15:48:23
Not saying he's like for like a Fabinho replacement OliRed just that he's well capable of playing in the role. He was extremely comfortable last night with Ox and Taki in there with him, 2 very attack minded players, imagine him wit Hendo and Thiago either side talking him through it.

5.) 08 Dec 2021 16:03:48
Imagine him training day in day out with top professionals like hendo and milly ina team of real ballers. Surely that can only boost his growth.

6.) 08 Dec 2021 17:21:40
Morton looked at home, which in itself is a major feat when you look at the status of the game and the teams playing.
Fingers crossed he stays clear of major injuries and keeps developing.

7.) 08 Dec 2021 20:04:36
The good thing for me, as I’ve said before, is the increase in the number of youngsters who seem to have genuine potential coming through from the academy. With the (albeit) slow shift to ‘home grown’ and ‘club developed’ players it is really good to see.

The change in the rules about signing kiddies from overseas has also helped as it is perhaps encouraging clubs (like us) to not only find local talent but also perhaps focus on developing the talent rather than the easier (but more costly option? ) of buying youngsters from overseas who may be at the next level of development.

I know that we still have (very talented) overseas players at the younger levels but if you look at the lads starting to push through from the 17 - 20 age group (Williams, Bradley, Morton, Elliot, Jones come to mind as examples having featured this season) the emphasis doe seem to have switched to home grown players.

8.) 08 Dec 2021 22:30:14
I didn't want to get too carried away with him as Milan were terrible in all honesty, it seems like they had no urgency considering they needed a result. They couldn't live with pressure and we played out from the back with ease at times. I understand they have a few injuries but if that's the team topping series a it must be terrible standard .

{Ed0666's Note - Leao and Rebic missing was a big blow to them. They are valued members of their team. I think Morton will grow into an outstanding player as he has some great attributes. He needs to fill out get some physicality and let’s see what the next 2 years has in store for him? Is he heir to Fabinho? Time will tell.

With the constant chatter about injuries, I checked out the average injury incident rate in professional footballers. Apparently in Europes top 5 leagues the average rate is 6.8 injuries per 1000 hours of training and/ or playing. When isolated, playing time averaged the highest at 36 injuries per 1000 hours.
No idea where our players fit into this (whether they average higher or lower) . Someone would need to calculate time spent injured vs time spent training and playing for each of the individual players.

Nice post MK. Personally I'd let Thiago go, love the guy as a player but the injuries have just been too much, I do take your point about more cover helping though and would love to see him have a great season with us. As per Ed 01, its good to hear Klopp realizes the mistake. Hopefully we get back to high intensity.
Personally I'm really excited and optimistic for the season coming up. Hoping the squad feel they have something to prove after last season.

We really need a new Turan/ Simao character. Made the transfer season a bit entertaining at least.

Thanks MK, honestly I agree with AW sentiment but I couldn't give up the chance to get in a Star Wars reference on a football site. Something I'm actually qualified to talk about.
