I think Rio might be gone by then. Or it might be his last season with us.

I predict that if he becomes the player we want, he will leave for elsewhere at somepoint. He has ambitions to win the Ballon d'or and you don't do that at Liverpool. He isn't a Liverpool fan so he has no deep ties to the club, but these can be built over time still.

If he does not become the player we want, well then he will get moved on.

The Sky Sports propaganda machine is in full effect. Two anti-Wirtz posts in their top 6 news stories.

First one from Carragher, saying he cannot play against Man City. The second one is a poll asking fans whether Wirtz should play or not.

Man City or Sky owners scared much? Or is it all in my imagination? Wish I knew how to add a screenshot.

Carra is top notch pundit. Better analysis than most on the mainstream but he's going out of his way to bring a lot of attention on Wirtz. He and Neville have been at him since he got here and love to throw in "weve been kind to Wirtz but." every other week.

I hope they keep Morgan Rodgers under the same microscope.

Carra does half the job right in identifying the issues, but he's very closed minded on the solution. He jumps right to creating a new narrative or bandwagon mixed in with a bunch of his own biases.

Jamie has a bit of a tabloid style of punditry, most of them do. It's all for clicks, you get that most by sensationalising everything.

To be fair to him though you can't not ask questions of Wirtz, particularly yesterday he was just so poor. If that wasn't picked up by the pundits they're not doing their job. He also praised Jacquet who's performed better in his five or six games than Wirtz has in ten times as many games.

1. The job of a sports pundit is to say something controversial to get sports fans to watch their show. Don't fall for it. Their opinion is irrelevant.

2. Carra is a passionate Liverpool supporter and an average Liverpool former player but he is still a numpty, or maybe even a Muppet. You decide. Should we have a poll?

A "numpty" is typically a clumsy or daft person who made a harmless mistake, whereas a "muppet" implies sheer incompetence or being easily manipulated like a puppet.

I believe that we had the biggest wage bill when we won the league because of the bonuses paid to the players.

He probably doesn't realise that if we don't win the league then we don't have to pay the bonuses and therefore we don't have the biggest wage bill.

The figures available quote the costs with and without bonuses. For 26/27 our costs are second highest without bonuses.

I was surprised by that, I can only think it's because the likes of Szob, Grav and Gakpo are on now big deals. Ali, VVD, Wirtz, Araujo, Isak and Barcola will also be on major contracts. Probably only Macca and Kerkez of the starting 11 who are not on close to £200k per week.

Wirtz is simply not good enough for this league. He cost a tremendous amount of money and cannot make a simple 5 yard pass. Honestly he looks lost. I think he needs to be sold ASAP. he's had over a year to adapt to the league and its physicality and just hasn't.

Losses need to be cut on him sadly. Try and get something like what was paid for him in January and reinvest. he's so poor, I cannot believe its th same player that tore it up in Germany.

Bundesliga is our championship league if Wirtz fails that will be two failures which cost around 180 million. We got one player from Bundesliga who was world class and cost 10 million Bobby F we got a free center back from Bundesliga who won it all with Bobby.
So why can't the scouts look for these type of players at reasonable transfers.

Watched 20 mins so far and it's truly woeful, midfield has absolutely no control over the game. Team as a collective is awful and Wirtz is just about the worst of the lot. He cannot control even the most simple of passes towards him, let alone actually make a successful pass. I don't see him turning it around, looks like he's lost out there.

Wow Brighton's press was impressive the way they made the space narrow was clever. Arsenal and Man united could not deal with it.

Florian Am not sure there is any agenda against Rio or any other of our players.
But Rio should not be in England squad yet he is far too inconsistent and at the minute very little end product.

But he is just turned 18 and needs time to develop with Barcola Gakpo and Munoz he should get minutes from the bench with 20 minutes or so to go when players are tired so he has a little more time to learn how to make the right decisions.


If England don't have players that are of a higher current level than Rio they are in trouble he should be in the u21 now.

Florian Rio has a lot of talent but it is not put together right at this time he needs to gain experience at his own club not at full internationals this gives his agents the power to go into negotiations for a new contract when he is not the finished article.

It has nothing to do with me having a go at Rio or any other young player but hoping for Rio to achieve his full potential in time.
