Anyone remember the Milk Tray chocolate bars? A few chocolates from a box all stuck together in a bar. I would break them apart and eat them individually. My cousin would just eat them like a normal chocolate bar, getting about 5 different varieties at the same time!

It should of been announced that Slot, Hughes and Edwards were leaving together when LFC announced Slot was sacked!

Cannot have a £450m outlay but leave a title winning squad short and unbalanced!

Utterly moronic idea. It would never happen. The club would look incredibly unstable, and it could have a devastating effect on the transfer window. When there's numerous high-ranking staff to be replaced, you have to do it in phases. Sacking one of them at a time raises no eyebrows, but sacking your manager, sporting director and CEO all at once is a massive cause for concern, you'll be in the papers for weeks, and for all the wrong reasons, every tiny little issue that may have gone unnoticed would be under massive scrutiny.

It might also be better to get rid of the "problem children" in one go, so they don't become a distraction either.

JLC, yes, it would be totally bad. Sacking the manager, DOF and CEO all in one go will draw an overwhelming amount of negative press. It would be on the tip of every reporter's pen for weeks. Even when the initial media frenzy settles down, the wild speculation that would follow would last the summer and beyond.

It would be a major deterrent for potential prospects.

As you said yourself, Gordon is running things, and Hughes is not the only one at the club capable of negotiating, so we could have very easily axed Dick & Ted along with Slot if such a move had any value, so obviously the club feels it doesn't.

Sooooo, what are we expecting this coming season? I think unless we're bottom 3 at Xmas, he gets a season to put the fitness levels right, instill some type of ethos and identity, and get us somewhere close to enjoying the football again. Obviously top 4/5 is a must, money wise, a cup would be nice but not essential, just want to see us heading in the right direction.



I think it'll be a bit of a mad season, Arsenal are the only steady team, but didn't really think much of them last season. Us, Chel, City are in a bit of transition, Utd back in Europe may effect their league form, Spurs, Chelsea haven't got to worry about Europe, but still think we're good enough quality wise to get a Champs League place.

For one reason or another, each of them imploded. Has there ever been a similar generation?

We currently have Messi (football), Djokovic (tennis), Pogacar (cycling), Verstappen and Hamilton (motorsport)

I would also say, the general level and professionalism of nearly every sport has increased and therefore the competition has done too.

Could also add McIlroy/ Sheffler in terms of golf and if you're coupling 2 decades with Maradona and Owen then you have to count Federer and Nadal with current lot even though they're not playing anymore really.

The new generation have Mbappe (like it or not) and Yamal coming through also.



I think it's a timing thing too though, as your younger years you glamourise more and are more impressionable so I think everyone looks at "their" time with rose tinted glasses.

Paralysis by analysis, over thinking, over coaching, and too much media have driven a lot of sport to a safer more benign place. The quality is still high, just look at France in this World Cup, but there is less high level raw talent coming through in general compared to the 90's in particular.

The list of supremely talented centre forwards then was amazing across a multitude of countries, maybe it was a sweet spot where sport got more professional, but not too much. The music was better then as well.

If you think of the active freaks of nature in their sports, you have Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, Oleksander Usyk, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Novak Djokovic etc.

Most of them are admittedly at the wrong ends of their careers.

Sport always has a new legend just over the horizon, though. Lamine Yamal is a good example, as are Kimi Antonelli and Moses Itauma. Carlos Alcaraz looks pretty special. The standout is probably Luke Littler, though.

Spot on, Overkill, too many Pep wannabes at all levels of football these days, coaching individual style and flair out of the game. Long live the maverick, bring back the renegade. The game is desperate for a Gascoigne-esque type to pave the way back to the beautiful game. A little character and creativity goes a long way.

By far, though, for me, is the England squad throughout the 00's. On paper, that squad was ridiculous. Still can't quite believe they achieved absolutely nothing, even with the well documented cliques.

The World Cup have had several ups and downs and several insight into solid players that's much required at LFC.
Manu Kone and Bouaddi should be looked at as this will be good for an Antoni Iraola side.
