I think people are a bit too sentimental about Klopp and wanting him to return in some sort of Hughes capacity.

Don't get me wrong, I bloody love the man, but his player judgement was questionable at times and he's far too loyal.

He punted for Darwin, he wanted Brandt over Salah and had to be massively convinced he was the right choice.

We hung onto players for too long out of loyalty and suffered as a result.

He needs to stay firmly in the legendary manager and wonderful part of our history bracket.

I think the problem u have with klopp involved in a role at the club is that he would be too great a shadow on the present manager whoever that maybe. Maybe in a few years but not for a while imo.

30 Jan 2026 18:07:40
Jurgen Klopp is an extremely intelligent man and I'd think he could make the role work without stepping on the manager's toes.

However, Jurgen Klopp is an extremely intelligent man so he wouldn't take the job anyway.

30 Jan 2026 19:08:27
Klopp's never coming back. He loves his new job. He gets to work from home when he's not travelling and spends a lot more time with his family. He also has none of the stresses of running a top tier club. Let's not forget Klopps plan to move on was a long term goal that he decided on 2 years previous. He was both approached by Red Bull and purchased his current Mallorca home back in 2022.

When asked if he would ever return to Liverpool by Stephen Bartlett he gave an extremely unenthusiastic ". theoretically it's possible. " response. He looked physically distressed and upset by the thoughts of such a prospect. He then went on to explicitly explain how he doesn't miss coaching, at all.

He's currently the Global Head of Football at Red Bull, a very cushy number, coming back to Liverpool, in any role, would be a major step down and a massive reduction in the quality of life he has. He's made it abundantly clear, both vocally and through his actions, that he loves his current role and the increased family time/ quality of life that it brings. If you think for a split second he would give up such a good job, working from dream home in sunny Mallorca here he spends a lot of quality time with his family to come back to the stresses of top flight football and the dreary Merseyside weather, you need your head examined.

The standards of reporting and journalism are so bad nowadays it is worrying. Just seen a page online post that Denzel Dumfries could be a good option to help with our RB crisis because Inter are willing to sell him and he's nearly back from his injury.

Quick fact check showed me he had surgery on his ankle and isn't due back until March. Why on earth would we sign a 3rd injured right back? Do the writers who type out this drivel engage their brains before they send it to their editors?

Anyway, I found it quite amusing. I think we should sign Fabian Schar to ease our CB crisis. His ankle surgery last week went really well apparently!

Most football journalists nowadays only fall under two categories, lazy ones or client journalists who trot out stories their clients want them to say.

30 Jan 2026 16:37:56
The only article I can find on this is on a website called Rousing the Kop. If you are choosing to read websites like this and then actually calling it journalism and comparing it to publications like the Guardian and the Times then I really don't know what to say.

30 Jan 2026 16:51:23
As long as they get a click they couldn't care less.

30 Jan 2026 16:53:18
I stopped reading any sort of transfer journalism when I discovered this website and the great Ed2 about 12 years ago.

30 Jan 2026 16:54:31
What's even funnier is people actually read the nonsense they write. This is how they continuously get away with it, they always get the clicks.

30 Jan 2026 17:26:22
Thunderbird, I'm not sure where I compared it to anything mate.

Journalism - "the activity or profession of writing for newspapers, magazines, or news websites or preparing news to be broadcast. "

I mean what would you call it if it's not journalism haha! Chill out dude.

I agree Victor and Ernest. It's so poor.

30 Jan 2026 17:57:08
I think where thunderbird is coming from is you've read something on a back alley trash publication and complained that it's poor quality journalism.

It's a bit like test driving an old banger and complaining about the quality of drive.

It's a waste of time reading stuff like that so you can of reap what you sew.

30 Jan 2026 18:26:16
I mean honestly Gvardiol, Thunderbird is just a notorious troll. You've only got to scroll 2 threads down this page to see them being called out by Ed025 for trolling Rome1977. I disagreed with Rome on that same thread by the way, but I wasn't a dick about it.

I posted an amusing story for a bit of banter, I didn't complain. The tone of my post made it very clear I was merely amused. I didn't need or ask for a patronising explanation about the unreliability of online news aggregators and fan run news sites.

30 Jan 2026 19:11:48
Troll - (in folklore) an ugly creature depicted as either a giant or a dwarf.

30 Jan 2026 19:20:34
It's a forum mate. Your post will attract negative and positive responses. Thunderbird is far from a troll, he happily calls out people as is his right. He doesn't tolerate melodrama.

I agree the one example you've given ed25 had a point, but I wouldn't say the reflects him as a poster most of the time.

If you can't handle people calling you out, best not to post.

I'm not telling you not to post btw, it's a free country of course and the same applies to responses.

{Ed025's Note - i agree with that Chewy..

30 Jan 2026 22:02:17
I mean you are entitled to think what you want Gvardiol, I honestly don't mind people disagreeing or responding negatively. This was a pretty light hearted bit of banter where I made a joke though and had a laugh about something. The only melodrama has been in a handful of the replies, and in particular from Thunderbird who's actually completely made up that I compared a click bait site to The Times.

I will maintain my opinion that Thunderbird is a troll though, I'm sorry. I'm sure they know that themselves and I'm also sure they don't really care about me calling them out because I'm giving them what they want ultimately by reacting. By all means I invite you to click their profile and see for yourself. They have never once started a thread on any of the four pages. I've never once seen them post an original thought or a football opinion of their own. They jump from page to page just making weird comments under other threads or mocking other users. It's extremely boring after several years of it but it's not something that you can let bother you. Like you say, when you post on a forum you are inviting the replies in all their shapes and forms. Trolling included. If I cared I'd just block them with the new function, but it's amusing and sometimes trolling can actually be funny ??‍♂️ I've probably even thumbed up many of their posts before when I've agreed with them that a terrible post deserves a touch of mockery!

Slot doesn't seem like a man about to lose his job going by his press conference this morning, seems in good form and talking about the next few games ?.

Agree3

30 Jan 2026 10:40:37
Like the ITKs and the Eds keep saying, he's in the job until summer unless results start to slide significantly so he's got a point to prove hasn't he.

30 Jan 2026 12:07:51
I suppose, but he doesn't seem like a man under pressure, especially considering how spikey he was after the 6.0 win and 'big fall out behind the scenes' he was in a good humour this morning.

30 Jan 2026 13:28:52
Closer to big payoff and life of Riley.

30 Jan 2026 14:16:19
If results slide significantly!

Can this statement even be quantified?
Is it losing 3 in a row?
Is it drawing every league game until we can't make top 4?
Is it getting knocked out of the CL in the last 16?

The only quantifiable situation is CL right now.
If there's a chance that we can qualify for next season's CL, then he most likely won't be sacked.

The problem i have with that situation, is that I just don't have the confidence that our current style will get us top 4.

30 Jan 2026 15:00:21
Maybe Arne's wife and kids over from Holland he must miss them . YNWA.

30 Jan 2026 15:07:14
JLC, you're bang on. In the current Premier League Form table (last 5 games) we're 17th. Only Spurs, Burnley and Palace have taken less points.

For all the talk of the mythical unbeaten run, we've still been absolutely dire. We're literally in relegation form in the league (0.8 points per game) It's all well and good beating Marseille and Qarabag, but your bread and butter is the league where we're failing spectacularly. Slot still needs to go ASAP, before the situation this season is irreversible.

30 Jan 2026 16:54:44
Or the opposite? If you know your sacking is already a formality it takes the pressure off entirely doesn't? The lack of uncertainty is probably quite comforting in a weird way.

30 Jan 2026 19:11:29
A 6-0 win would give any man a short burst of false confidence, even if it is against a pub team.

30 Jan 2026 09:20:16
Only caught the highlights from the game but for the those who watched how did Nyoni and Nallo get on?

Agree0

30 Jan 2026 09:49:59
Nyoni did very little, which sums up his performances in my harsh opinion. Nallo managed to not get sent off, which was a bonus.

30 Jan 2026 10:17:33
Nyoni played quite well, his passing was crisp and he made a decent tackle to stop a quick counter. Looks more than ready to be playing more often.

Nallo looked very assured with the ball, but he did dive in once, missing the player and the ball, on the edge of our box when he was isolated 1v1. Luckily it came to nothing. He looked nervous when defending which is to be expected when you've had 2 red cards in your previous 13 minutes! Overall though he came through unscathed and that should do him the world of good.

30 Jan 2026 11:08:01
Feels harsh that Rome1977. I don't remember him giving the ball away once and his whipped pass through the lines is what started the attack for Chiesa's goal. When you come on in midfield with the game at 4 or 5 nil, your main goal should be to keep things simple to see out the game and he did that quite well in my opinion, so maybe he did do 'very little' but what was required of him he did without any fuss.

Considering how badly Macca was bullied in the first half by their midfield runners, Nyoni didn't once look like he was struggling or over awed. The main reason I only say "quite well" is because the game was effectively dead at the point Nyoni came on, so it's very hard to praise anyone too much in that situation. It's not like he had to try and change the game or handle any real pressure.

30 Jan 2026 11:53:39
I can tend to be over critical, MK, I know that. Personally, I think both of them will be moved on.

30 Jan 2026 13:36:29
Judging an 18 year old that's played just over 200 minutes all season. Good for you.

{Ed025's Note - hang on, the guy asked for opinions and Rome gave his..so whats wrong with that Thunderbird?, or do you only want opinions that say he was great or out of this world?..have a day off mate..

30 Jan 2026 14:03:14
Rome, I don't see Nallo making it here long term. I don't think the club does either as we're trying to sign Ndiaye (16 year old Senegalese CB) and have just signed Ndukwe (17 year old Austrian CB).

Nyoni is harder to call. I think he could be good enough, but with Slot as manager he won't get the minutes needed because Slot does not utilise the academy unless it's last resort.

30 Jan 2026 16:42:58
He's 18 for goodness sake, just say he was fine, which he was, if you can't say that just say nothing at all.

{Ed025's Note- how about just tell the truth?, if you thought he was good just say he was good, if you think he was poor say he was poor, its only opinions and what age has got to do with it i really dont know..

30 Jan 2026 16:47:15
No premier league manager utilizes the academy unless its a last resort though, if were being brutally honest Or unless they've a Rooney or an Owen on their hands. At the very least they have to be better than the senior player in his position and in a Premier League team how often is that going to happen.

30 Jan 2026 17:33:40
Thunderbird, if either of the 2 players is your son, I'm sorry if I've offended you. If neither of them are I couldn't give a flying fish.

This is a site to express one's opinion, and as Ed025 says, what's age got to do with it? At what age is it ok to criticise?

My take is, what I've seen of Nyoni I don't think he's got what it takes to make it with us. In the case of Nallo, I haven't really seen enough of him because he keeps getting sent off. And, as MK says, we've signed 2 young CBs, so the club seemingly don't rate him either.

30 Jan 2026 00:38:22
I don't see why Robertson couldn't cover at right back, plenty full backs have played on the " wrong side".

Agree1

30 Jan 2026 07:36:15
Plenty of right footed players play lb but v few left footed players ever play rb. In fact I can't think of 1 who done it over any length of time! In theory as u say calgary I don't see why not.

30 Jan 2026 08:56:54
Digger, many studies have found that around 8-10% of people are left footed/ handed. I think that's why it's rarer to see a left footer play at right back. If you have a lefty, they'll play at left back because there is a good chance there's very few others in the squad. Whereas if you lose a lefty to injury, there's a good chance you might not have another one who is also a defender hence the need to turn to a right footer.

I do wonder if inverted full backs may become more of a thing one day, because a lot of wingers nowadays want to cut inside, so it would help defensively if they were cutting in onto the full backs stronger foot. Additionally, so many full backs are now inverting into midfield instead of overlapping. Coming inside onto their stronger passing foot makes more sense, whereas when they used to overlap you wanted them able to whip a cross in on their strong foot so it made sense for a lefty to play left back and vice versa. Cancelo when he played left back for Man City was a good example of this.

30 Jan 2026 09:46:26
Even if Robbo can cover the right, his legs have gone. Not ideal really to have a player who's clearly past it play in an unfamiliar role. We'd be better off letting Ramsay cover the right until Frimpong is back.

30 Jan 2026 09:59:05
Agree Dracred.

30 Jan 2026 10:11:26
True enough mk. Funny whatever left footed players I played football with they nearly always where more skilful than the right footed players.

30 Jan 2026 10:23:56
Looking at the league table on games lost to injury we're about mid table, issue has been at fullback and centre back which has made it standout and feel worse. Isak as well obviously. Surprised to see Arsenal were near the top / worst which shows they've got a strong squad.

30 Jan 2026 12:07:41
Digger 10, they just seemed more skilful mate it is a optical illusion mate they always seemed slow when running with the ball as well. I never liked left footers taken pens they just didn't look right to me i still look away when Mo takes a pen . YNWA.

30 Jan 2026 00:26:25
Would anybody else love Xabi to come in, Stevie G as assistant and get Milly back as a coach.

Agree3

30 Jan 2026 07:31:51
Not really.

30 Jan 2026 09:45:51
Does Milly coach now, or is he mainly a squad player? You'd think he'd have the aptitude for it in the future, as he was a hard worker and driver, but don't know whether he's a proven commodity as a coach to merit a move to us.

Stevie was apparently a good coach, but wants to be a manager, so that's probably not a good idea unless everyone was clear and happy with the arrangements. It's all an assumption that Xabi is coming in, which is probably best left until the end of the season.

It's a shame there's no speculation on players, it's probably because that's so quiet that everyone is focused on the coaching set up. Surely any new coach would have wanted a few additions to the playing staff, as that's not happened I can't see anything changing elsewhere unless there's a public fallout.

30 Jan 2026 10:21:32
@BigDan. Absolutely not. I'd keep Gerrard as far away from a club appointment as possible. Milly, though a great player and person may not be a good coach at all. It'll be Alonsos choice and he'll appoint whom he sees necessary and correct for the roles required.

29 Jan 2026 23:04:58
Question for the ITKs, Carra, TheFields, robbo etc. without giving too much away. Where do you each get your info from? Former players, current players, staff working at axa training ground, upper management at liverpool, family of players?

{Ed025's Note - they may not want to divulge their sources AI and i think that is their prerogative mate..

The misses has just got back from a sneaky few lattes with the ladies! This is what she had to say…….
The café overlooking the Mersey was the neutral ground to meet. No agents. No journalists. Just strong coffee and stronger opinions.
Rike van Dijk was already seated, perfectly calm, scrolling her phone like someone who absolutely knew something and would not be sharing it.
Natalia Becker arrived next, setting her bag down with a sigh.
"Alisson reorganised the spice rack this morning, " she said. "Alphabetically. "
Rike looked up. "That's serious. "
"It's January-window serious, " Natalia replied.
Magi Salah swept in moments later, cheerful as ever.
"Mohamed says nothing is happening, " she said brightly, sitting down. "Which of course means everything is happening. "
Rachel Robertson joined last, shaking her head as she took her seat.
"Andy just said, 'Don't read the papers. ' I wasn't reading the papers. Now I absolutely am. "
They all nodded. Universal experience.
Rike sipped her coffee. "Virgil hasn't said a word. He just hugged me longer than usual and asked if I liked Liverpool sunsets.

"
Natalia groaned. "Mine asked if I'd be okay moving goalkeeping gloves into storage. What does that even mean? "
Magi smiled serenely. "Mohamed started reminiscing about 'the early years. ' I said, 'Are you leaving or writing a documentary? '"
Rachel leaned in. "Okay but—has anyone else's husband suddenly become very loyal to the club in conversation? Like… aggressively loyal? "
"Yes, " all three said immediately.
A pause.
Then laughter.
"We do this every window, " Natalia said. "We panic, we overanalyse, and then they all sign extensions and say they were 'never thinking of leaving. '"
Rike raised an eyebrow. "To be fair, Virgil probably wasn't. "
Magi smirked. "Mohamed definitely was. Just not in the way we think. "
Rachel lifted her mug. "To Liverpool: where the defence is solid, the keeper is calm, the forwards are mysterious… and the wives know absolutely nothing. "
They clinked cups.
Outside, Anfield stood quietly in the distance, holding all its secrets.
Inside the café, the real transfer negotiations continued—over oat milk, espresso, and wildly incorrect theories.

Hi Carra, it seems the posters are doubting if you are the 'real' Carra. I think you should do something to prove it is you like Eminem. 'Would the real Carra please stand up, please stand up' lol

On a serious note thanks for your updates! I definitely need sone positivity.

Winning 6-0 didn't bring you some positivity?

He posted the other day from his previous original username to say that they are one and the same. The original account is logged in on his work computer but he forgot the password so set up the one with a dot for his other devices.

29 Jan 2026 21:29:19
@Thunderbird, not particularly. No disrespect to Qarabag, but this is opposition even our reserve team should beat at home. We should be full of confidence ready for Newcastle but will likely lose or draw in the dying minutes as we have done so often this season. Sorry for sounding ungrateful but the stats speak for themselves. My support will not waiver but my confidence is lacking.

30 Jan 2026 07:36:08
The same Qarabag who finished above Napoli, Marseille, Ajax, Benfica.

29 Jan 2026 13:26:55
King Kenny managing the next Legends game with his JK as his assistant! Maybe if they win they'll get the interim job for the 1st team. Simples.

29 Jan 2026 09:40:25
This might have been said already but there must be some link between the number of injuries that are being picked up by different players and the reports of training not being as intense since Klopp left.

Also it has to have been a factor in how long it took Isak to get up to match fitness.

If true, it really sounds like some really fundamental structural things have regressed badly since Klopp's time. I can't see the likes of Kerkez and Frimpong being bought in Klopp's time.

Agree2

29 Jan 2026 12:29:03
Why would the 2 players not have been bought? Think they would have been right up Klopps street.

29 Jan 2026 12:59:36
Do you not remember Klopp's time when we often had about 10 players injured? We don't have an injury crisis in comparison. It's just the usual suspects with a bit of bad luck that the other injured players play in the same position. It looks worse than it actually is because he rarely plays certain players (Chiesa, Endo) and he has poorly integrated the academy players so they don't look ready.

It is a manager's job to deal with the squad and injuries and this is another thing Slot has done poorly.

29 Jan 2026 17:21:14
Frimpong fitness at his last club was very good very few injuries he has been here half a season and is on his third injury something is wrong some where?
We also have Bradley having injuries every couple weeks why?

Alison had injures, Hugo had injuries, maca had injuries
There needs to be investigation losing players
as we are i know players have injuries but it seems like the same players injured.
