One positive from tonight.

Last time we played back 5 we lost 3-0 to Palace.

We are improving!

09 Apr 2026 05:32:54
Got me thinking, we were 3 - 0 down to Barca after the first leg. We had Bobby and Mo missing, and nobody gave us a chance. But we'd seen what we could do on European Cup / Champions League matches on a Wednesday night at Anfield, so we had a chance.

2 - 0 down to PSG - midweek match at Anfield.....

For the first one, we had Jurgen, heavy metal football and belief. Next week, we have Arne and a bunch of players who would struggle against the top 6 teams in the Championship at the moment.

We might be in the top 6 in the PL and the last 8 of the CL, but we've fallen a long, long way.

Wdw, then we have mentality monster manager in Klopp. This team is mentality strawberry, crumble easily.

Agree5

Mentality midges, squashed easily.

09 Apr 2026 09:12:39
We were unlucky to lose that Barca game 3-0 in the first leg. A draw would have been a fair result. We went into the 2nd leg at least thinking we had a chance, even without Mo & Bobby.

Yesterday, we were lucky it was only 2-0. We couldn't have complained if it ended 5 or 6.

Agree1

09 Apr 2026 09:35:46
That back 5 and the positions some of the players held were a disgrace.

Agree1

09 Apr 2026 10:09:06
Lamborini, mate, I think you are being kind with 5 or 6. I would have said 8 or 9, mate. It was men versus boys. They will score at Anfield. They are the best team in Europe, with Bayern 2nd, Arsenal 3rd.

Hello fellow reds.

Just my opinion on the game tonight. It was demoralising as it looked like we wernt even trying to score. I know PSG are a great team but it's not like we have champiinship players!
It's also a joke how they had their previus game postponed and have no weekend game either, giving them a week off for both legs, as if they needed any more advantages over us, especially with their squad.

Also, just my opinion.

I know it looks likley to be Alonso as I dont see slot staying beyond the summer but the way Alonso plays football in not too disimilar to slots. I know this will cause division for people, but I would like the club to go for Diego Pablo Simeone as next manager, he will definetly light some fires and get the players going again, like Klopp in some ways, hes great at getting players to play beyond their limitations.

Thoughts fellow reds?

09 Apr 2026 00:54:44
Atletico Madrid's manager? No way, man, his football style is simply disgusting.

Agree11

09 Apr 2026 04:47:34
Pubehead can do one with this anti football

Agree9

09 Apr 2026 05:49:21
You can probably count on one hand the number of Liverpool fans who would agree with you on that appointment, there's no way in hell the club would even view him as an option, and he doesn't even speak English.

Agree7

09 Apr 2026 06:35:54
Gujar. I am one of those Chewy mentioned, and I said as much before X-Mas.
I think he gets a lot of stick from fans that don't watch his football a lot, and base their opinions on how they have played against us, where he has set up more defensively. I don't think that's fair. He has taken an also ran team from Spain and had them consistently challenging at the highest levels of national and European football for a long time now. His teams can defend well, can play attacking football, but I think more than anything have grit, fight, determination and a willingness to do whatever it takes to win in absolute spades.

That's where I think the merit comes from for him, given we currently seem to have about as much spine as a cheese string.
I wouldn't be against it at all, but I do also think we should give the likes of Alonso priority.
A lot of talk right now about how even Gerrard would be an improvement. Not quite sure how people could say that in one breath but then say a proven winner wouldn't be suitable. Simeone for me has just as much credibility as an option than any other candidate, not that it will happen anyway, as Chewy says, I don't think he speaks the language and is in his element at Atletico.

PSG played last Friday in the cup and beat Toulouse 3-1, so had 1 more day's rest.

You're correct, they don't have a game this weekend either, but to even things out, none of our players have actually technically tried to play a game of football in months.

Agree4

09 Apr 2026 09:37:10
SlotSlitS***Shot, that wasn't anti-football. That was sabotage from the manager, imo.

Agree0

09 Apr 2026 10:12:06
Gujar, are you Simeone's agent? I would not want him near Tranmere Rovers, never mind LFC.

Agree1

09 Apr 2026 12:09:21
Oli, I was talking about Da Ego Simian, not Slot. I wouldn't call a Liverpool manager or coach names like Pubehead.

Agree0

09 Apr 2026 12:50:00
For the last time, "style of play" is not the reason Slot should be sacked, nor should it be the determining factor in whether Xabi Alonso is our next manager.
Slot needs to go because he is wholly unsuited to being the Liverpool manager for a dozen reasons more important than style of play.

Our aimlessness directly stems from these reasons.
Simeone's aggressive, hardworking qualities would be a far better character fit than Slot, but there are other reasons he would end up failing, albeit far less disastrously than our current imposter of a manager.

When Fergie left Manutd it's taken 13 years and counting of Transition and they still aren't anywhere near the heights of SAF. I hope to God we sort this mess out and learn from the mess Manutd made post Fergie. Klopp is loved by fans and players alike. He is a genius and is very hard to replace. Slot is not the answer.

09 Apr 2026 01:24:28
Fergie left bad team. Slot inherited good team. Can't compare both.

Agree18

09 Apr 2026 06:34:49
We also won the title the season after he left, so that has to be the most dumb comparison?!

We've had 1 great year and 1 s*** year, let's not spiral ey?

Like the other poster said, Utd's squad was shot to pieces. We have the making of an exciting one that needs the right leader and few extra good signings.

Agree6

09 Apr 2026 09:37:53
@Stg, please, compare what is actually comparable.

Agree1

08 Apr 2026 23:52:13
Said we should have fired Slot a few days before the City game. More than half of the people on here basically said "what's the point now? Just wait till the season ends".

Well, considering we were still in the FA Cup, UCL and fighting for top 4. Now look at the ucking state of us. Smashed by City, PSG embarrassed us and I have no confidence against Fulham. Not getting top 4 will be a disaster.

People on here should have a word with themselves.

09 Apr 2026 05:59:10
Have a word with ya self, making up stories.
Like it or not, that was a great result and a good performance last night.
I still want Slot gone, I still question Virgil's captaincy. But I'm not fuming at the players like I was on Saturday. There was some fight and care in there.

And, top 4 doesn't matter, 5th is what we need.

Agree2

09 Apr 2026 06:24:12
We will not get 5th place. Edwards and Hughes have blown it and will be shown the door in the summer along with Slot. They had plenty of time to react, but obviously did not think anyone else could do a better short term job. I disagree, but this mess we are in is because people who are paid vast amounts of money to take decisions didn't.

They chose the easy route. In my opinion, that is not leadership and not what the club needed. Slot should have been removed months ago, it was the right call. All that has happened is 3 people have had their reputations damaged unnecessarily out of either stubbornness or incompetence. That for me is such a shame, it didn't need to be like this.

Agree5

09 Apr 2026 06:46:41
"Like it or not, that was a great result and a good performance last night."

That could well be one of the most depressing posts I've ever read on here.

If you honestly believe that, then our standards couldn't really fall much lower.

Agree13

09 Apr 2026 07:13:02
It's okay mate I got told to lighten up after the City game because I said Slot is clueless. He is either very stupid or purposely sabotaging this club.

Agree6

09 Apr 2026 07:27:53
Wassa, that PSG side is a phenom - starting to look as effective as Pep's best teams, Zidane's Real and our best Klopp side. Holding that to 2-0 ain't a bad effort. I've not had much good to say about our performances this season but that was solid.

Agree1

{Ed025's Note - how was that solid?, you were very lucky not to 5 or 6 down and had 30% of the ball and not a shot on target mate..

09 Apr 2026 07:33:13
"Like it or not, that was a great result"?

Eds; any chance of getting a thumbs down button added to this site?

Agree5

{Ed025's Note - some posts you just have to ignore and skip past so as not to give it any credence Red7, ...this is one of them mate..

09 Apr 2026 07:48:31
kjh2477 you're talking utter BS

Agree3

09 Apr 2026 07:55:36
"Like it or not, that was a great result and a good performance last night."

Absolutely delusional. There was nothing great about the performance. No shots on target and less than 30% possession. They carved us open at will, and we looked devoid of any answers.

If you think next Tuesday is going to be any different, you're sorely mistaken. Slot has no answers to this, the team is disorganised and unfit. Last night was every bit as awful as Bodgers' attempt at damage limitation against Madrid.

Agree3

09 Apr 2026 08:23:47
I must have watched a different game last night.

In fairness to kjh, the game he watched, Rushie, Barnes and King Kenny were our stand out performers.

Agree2

09 Apr 2026 10:15:54
My glasses are tinted as red as it gets and even I can't say that was a good performance. In fact, I can't find any positives in going to Paris and rolling over to have our tummies tickled.

Agree1

09 Apr 2026 09:41:02
@kjh2477, what that football are you on about? A great performance? You saw fight? Really, you saw that? With what eyes? Slot's?

Mate, you must be on Slot's payroll because that was the most insane take of the game I have heard. Jeez Louise, just stop.

Agree1

08 Apr 2026 23:29:04.
Well that was a massive disappointment, the players are all over the shop! I have to say that the tactics were terrible.
We set up to press in a group when on the wings but had no one in the middle to break play up! I rate Grav but he is not a holder and should be playing with a defensive mid. Macca has dropped a huge level since last season and I believe our midfield is a huge problem!
Wirtz and Gomes are the only 2 players that can hold their head up a little, no support for Wirtz up top and you can see he is a world class player.

Last rant has to be Frimpong, he was awful and should be no where near this team! We need a RB and a holder next year if we want to improve.

09 Apr 2026 09:43:52
@Kiwi, why is it a massive disappointment? Once the back 5 (something Slot has never played), along with the players he put out (Wirtz on the right, Ekitike on the left and Szobo in the false 9), should have told you what was coming. Cos that is what all the above nonsense showed me from the off.

We played the way we always play as in, no press, no intensity, no bite, no thrust. I can keep going, hence why I don't get why this is disappointing. We've been seeing this rubbish all season, have we not?

Agree0

08 Apr 2026 23:16:57
Arne sent that team not to get hammered, and on another day PSG could have scored 5. I remember Brenda doing something similar vs Real Madrid not long before he got the axe.
From losing on pens to them a year ago to surrendering this time around says it all about how far backwards Slot has taken us. 400 million pounds later.

I think this has to be the time to get some sort of bounce for the 2nd leg to perhaps save our season.

Give it to Stevie for the remaining games and bring in Xabi in the summer.
If Stevie can't turn it around with results then at least he could bring some energy and passion so we can enjoy the last games of the season.
It's massively clear that Slot has run out of ideas, has lost the dressing room and 90% of fans want him out.
Someone sack him please.

09 Apr 2026 00:09:35
What's the point now? Season is over. Should have been weeks back, and we could have ridden some of that momentum.

Agree5

09 Apr 2026 00:15:35
There's still a chance to qualify for the Champions League if Slot is sacked.

Agree14

09 Apr 2026 02:17:52
5-7 points if he stays. Won't be enough. Not sure what manager we could bring in, but I'd settle for Ron at this point.

Agree5

09 Apr 2026 04:50:38
Ron Atkinson? Controversial.

Agree5

09 Apr 2026 05:40:22
Lol. I had to look up if he's still singing along to Simple Minds.

"Arne sent that team not to get hammered, and on another day PSG could have scored 5. I remember Brenda doing something similar vs Real Madrid not long before he got the axe."

This is exactly what I posted in a thread today.

For me, Slot sabotaged that game and put that team out to get slaughtered cos imo, he wanted them punished for showing him up to be a clueless knob for the world to see at the Etihad.

Agree1

09 Apr 2026 10:10:28
I agree with all of that Redman apart the £400m bit. I do wish people would stop saying Slot spent £400m+ and made us worse.

That completely ignores the £300m+ of talent we lost in the summer which has to be taken into account if you're using money spent as a stick to beat him with.

You can spend £1bn on players but if you lose £900m it's not going to make you much better and will probably make you worse.

Bottom line, we lost some very good players in the summer but replaced them with some very good players. It was inevitable there would be a period of adjustment especially given the tragedy the team went through just before preseason started.

This now though is way beyond a period of adjustment. This is bordering on a capitulation. This squad is good enough to compete against the best in Europe but instead we go to PSG with no intention to compete and just try to keep the score down.

That is completely unacceptable in my eyes and not what Liverpool Football Club is, has been or will ever be about.

Slot has lost the fans and probably the players too so he has to go.

Agree1

08 Apr 2026 23:06:28
No matter how good the opposition is.

UCL quarter final and that's the way we set up. Not remotely good enough, rubbish.

Cheers for the league title Arne but see you later.

08 Apr 2026 23:04:45.
Our midfield double pivot must be the most fragile, weak and slowest in the league!
Again, they can't breakup play, can't tackle, can't win second balls and can't pass particularly well either.
This is the area of the team that desperately needs changing and upgrading more than any other.
Absolutely dire.

09 Apr 2026 07:29:36
Every great team we've had had an amazing front two or three. Unless Wirtz and Isak produce the goods over the remainder of the season we're in bigger trouble than just a failing midfield.

Agree3

09 Apr 2026 09:47:22
Overkill, Wirtz and Isak will do nothing under this manager cos Isak is coming back from a leg break, while Wirtz is being played as a wide forward in a 5-3-2 formation. That is the reality.

Agree1

08 Apr 2026 23:00:09
Hi Ed001, can you sum up tonight's performance in a few words? The catch is that no expletives are allowed ;-)

{Ed001's Note - without expletives? Spineless, pathetic performance by a bunch of individuals who couldn't care less. I am growing to seriously dislike Slot at the moment.}

09 Apr 2026 00:29:09
I think we could sum it up in a few others, Tris.

Complete and total surrender. Embarrassing.

Agree3

09 Apr 2026 06:05:21
Uninspiring. Even Wrexham would beat this team and performance.

Agree1

09 Apr 2026 09:48:28
Ed01, I thought Slot sent the boys out to get absolutely trounced on purpose with a system Slot himself had never played and was new to the players.

Agree1

{Ed001's Note - he played it against Palace.}
