{Ed's Note - De wolf was god has posted a new article entitled, Wolverhampton Wanderers: Sliding Toward the Abyss
Liverpool banter 7
Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.
05 Nov 2025 07:07:01
Jeez - where's all the doom merchants now? all the Slot out brigade including dare I say it Carra who tried convincing everyone he was history?
We are Liverpool - if you can't support us when we're losing, don't support us when we're winning.
{Ed025's Note - and what were you exactly hoping for TG?, a standing ovation or a bus tour for playing like a bag of crap for a month?, the paying public were totally right to call them out and it seemed to do the trick..
05 Nov 2025 07:40:29
If we stick to this quick spick style of play that seems to suit us more, and the form is consistent. then fair play. he's adapted which we were all worried he wouldn't.
05 Nov 2025 07:47:49
Like you say, Ed, we were foul for a month, pretty much from 1 to 11, but for fans to call for Slot to go was outrageous. The things being said about him on here were shameful, and it will no doubt happen again.
It's the nature of people and they have a right to express their views. Poster Salah, I told you we'd win again. Keep the faith, mate.
{Ed025's Note - the calling for Slot to be sacked was very premature Rome and a bit silly, but i think its fine to express your views if the team are not performing when you have the quality that you have mate..
05 Nov 2025 07:49:49
The sanctimonious poster. My least favorite kind of poster. This is a forum to discuss Liverpool football club not just to post when we win. We have been crap for around 6 games. We've been good for one and great for one. Hopefully this continues.
Slot was his usual honest self when he said that we are able to play when the other team also plays and doesn't bombard us with long balls. Let see if we can keep winning when the other team plays basketball while we play football.
05 Nov 2025 07:50:22
100% Ed.
We were spot on to call out the c**p performances because we went from 5 points ahead to 7 points behind in next to no time.
If Liverpool hadn’t messed around so much from September to October, we’d still be 3-5 points clear (Liverpool are way better than this Arsenal team) .
{Ed025's Note - blind faith is just as damaging as lack of support Lowe, and if they were not called out it could have ended your season mate, accepting mediocrity should never be tolerated imo..
05 Nov 2025 07:54:04
Spot on Ed025. Though I never called for Slot to be sacked, I was very close after that Palace game. Nor do I blame anybody who did want him sacked. That's the worst month (results wise) that I think I've ever seen since I've been supporting Liverpool.
Nice to see us switch to a more reserved approach and keep a settled back 4 for two games in a row. We needed those clean sheets to restore confidence in the defence. Get the City game out the way with a similar tactical approach and then maybe we can gradually open up a bit and start playing more expansively.
{Ed025's Note - it seems to have worked the trick MK and for me the supporters should be congratulated not scorned for their expressions of concern, the manager and players have listened and that can only be seen as a good thing..
05 Nov 2025 07:56:47
This is why those with inside knowledge are eventually driven away from this site. The moment things look different, they are called out, almost unfairly imo. Macca no longer posts here and if things continue the way it is, Carra won't either.
No need to call Carra out like that tbh. What Carra posted was that Slot's position is not safe and that a change would be made if necessary, not that a change is imminent and he will be sacked. And tbf, after that wretched run of losses we had, it was good to hear that the higher ups were assessing his position. He has turned things around now by going back to what worked last season but if things had continued the way they were, I don't think Slot would have been around for much longer either.
05 Nov 2025 08:07:04
The last two results have definitely brought more positivity but a run of 6 losses in 7 did look very bleak and I did say that if we lost against villa I expected him to be pushed.
I hope this is a turning point but villa played into our hands and Madrid is a huge game in the CL. If the lads weren't up for that then there would be bigger problems to solve.
I will hold judgement on if a corner has been turned until we play a team that low blocks/ plays long balls. But a couple wins on the bounce are definitely welcomed!
05 Nov 2025 08:07:54
I am not having these 'bedding in players' excuses. . United had 8/ 10 outfielders from last year in the side that played us and guess what SO DID WE!
We had 8/ 10 at Chelsea, they had FIVE new faces, Brentford had FIVE new players.
Did you hear them complaining about new players, when we field two new ones and they field five new ones?
Slot has been playing 7/ 8 of last years team most weeks but if Kerkez, Wirtz and a striker are in the side at the same time everyone is saying too much change. It's lazy.
A smart manager has a team for the footballing teams, a style for the physical teams and a style for the defensive teams. It's called being a manager. It's your job to know and study the opposition so you do not get surprised if they start hurling long balls and throws in.
Kerkez was in Team of the year last year and was recently ranked number eight in best world left backs. If our manager uses him as a third centre-back and he looks trash at the back post that is on the coach.
If the manager is starting with 3 or 4 unfit players for them to get up to speed and we get bullied and out-worked, that is on the coach too.
Anyway tonight we celebrate an awesome victory that is ALSO on the coach he deserves praise for this and so do the players that showed up. Now do it on a cold, wet Tuesday night away at Stoke that is not so easy to get up for!
05 Nov 2025 08:04:28
ed, people on here were saying Slot was only ever an interim coach, he wasn't fit to sit in Jurgen's seat, he was lucky to win the league because Jurgen set him up for success, we need a true top class coach not an unknown from the Dutch league etc, as flawed as were last month there was absolutely no place for that kind of idiocy, and certainly those posters are going to be praying we get tanked by City so they can come out gloating again.
{Ed025's Note - Slot got all the plaudits going after last season PB..and rightfully so, but its a results business whether you like it or not mate, what went on last month was unacceptable to the supporters and they rightfully were upset as to what was happening, by turning things around over the last 2 games it shows that they have listened and basically admitted that what was happening was wrong and not befitting of a club of this stature, but dont blame the supporters for lack of faith blame the manager for not doing his job properly at the time..
05 Nov 2025 08:10:03
Ed025 - I was expecting the fans get behind the team and the manager and give them a chance to turn it round instead of knee jerking like other clubs do. They weren’t losing on purpose.
{Ed025's Note - they were losing because of tactical naiveity TG and the supporters called them out, if they had not then it could still be happening but they listened and things seem to be back on track mate, Liverpool supporters are not sheep and all power to them..
05 Nov 2025 08:30:24
I don’t think I called for him to be sacked but I wouldn’t have been upset by it. Last month looked like a culmination of slot style from klopps. The football has been fairly boring for me, last night was the best we have played under slot.
If that’s how he wants us to play then great but if we revert back then he can expect the criticism, you can’t say told you so o. The back of one performance and expect other fans to not moan in the back of about 10.
05 Nov 2025 08:41:54
OP this last month cost us the league so I think we were right to question Slot. Should still be in question come the end of the year if we don’t win anything with the money spent and players we have but last 2 games are a massive step back in the right direction.
As I said, just a massive shame we are already now pretty much out title race.
05 Nov 2025 08:47:42
In short, no Liverpool fan wants to see Liverpool lose a game against City just so they can gloat. That’s just a childish statement.
05 Nov 2025 08:47:46
Because I have an opinion I am all of a sudden a sanctimonious poster, the worst there is. Sorry to upset the apple cart, perhaps I should go back to reading all the great posters on here and not bother contributing.
05 Nov 2025 08:54:08
scouse john, aren't you on record saying that you fell asleep watching us play last year? the performance last night wasn't a million miles away from our performance against them last year, the difference was madrid was much stronger in terms of players being fit, a tactically smarter manager and madrid being in red hot form coming into this game.
people have every right to moan about our performances, i've been on here after every game bantering with you all about where it's going wrong tactically. what i find inane and unacceptable is people saying slot is out of his depth, he's just a caretaker, get him out now before our season goes into a tailspin, he's a disgrace and uses excuses to deflect the fact that he doesn't have a clue etc. Nobody is saying that folks don't have the right to moan, it's when moaning turns into abuse and paranoiac hyperbole, lashing out at the manager and the players that I personally start to have a bit of a problem.
I think that I'm also going to differ a bit from the others on here insofar as while the performances against Villa and especially last night give us hope that this season can end with at least one major trophy, I can see that Slot is reverting to tactics and personnel that he used last year to steady the ship, which is obviously the right thing to do when we're wobbling.
However he is clearly also looking ahead to the future and how we would look like after Salah, with Wirtz pulling the strings, with Kerkez and Frimpong/ Bradley bombing on etc. We might be one or two pieces away squad-wise from fully realising what he wants to do, but I don't think we are going to stay in a holding pattern playing exactly this way, just that Slot might implement these shifts a bit slower than he did initially. There might be a few bumps along the way as this happens, though I'm hoping and expecting that it won't result in us losing important games or dropping points regularly, but I'm hoping we can afford him and the team patience as it happens.
05 Nov 2025 09:13:39
@Goat you were expecting people to say/ do nothing when they see their team getting beat? Of course, they would react and that is more than within their rights.
Now the Slot out chat may have been a bit OTT but that's their opinion and furthermore, it takes a lot self control to keep your head with all the mayhem going on esp. since a lot of fans could see where the issues were and with the manager persisting with what was clearly not working.
As for the gloating? I wouldn't be getting into that chat right now cos for me, we are on the right path with light appearing at the end of the tunnel BUT we are no where near being out of the woods yet so just relax with the "I told you so" rhetoric for now, IMO.
05 Nov 2025 09:32:31
Fortunately the "slot out chat" didn't manifest itself into the stands. The support there remained 100%. That could've got messy, had it not.
05 Nov 2025 09:39:35
25 - the Slot out trolls should absolutely shout loudly to celebrate when we win. At least as loud as they scream blue murder when things aren’t going well. Otherwise they should just be quiet.
Blind faith isn’t what I see from people who are trying to talk sense, not hysterics.
Teams go through ups and downs, and if we just followed the logic of the slot out brigade, we’d be going round in circles spinning wheels in the mud.
{Ed025's Note - its an emotional game Faith, we were not talking about the odd blip or poor game mate this was heading towards a crisis, the football was not that great even when you were winning and when it deteriorated into a string of losses of course supporters want to know why, spending all that money and being defending champions there are certain expectations that have to be met but for a while it was a mess, if you want to be Spurs or Arsenal and just accept mediocrity then thats up to you but it is not the Liverpool way imo..
05 Nov 2025 09:53:26
It’s pointless trying to educate some people Patrick they just see things in black and white.
Lose equals bad and everyone needs to go, win equals good and they can stay for now. Until they lose again and then they need to go.
There were numerous reasons why we had a bad run, tactics being one of them but a lot of the tactical changes had been forced on the manager due to fitness issues.
Tactics don’t make the players a yard short to every second ball, tactics don’t make players miss tackles, tactics don’t make players run out of steam after an hour. But it doesn’t matter what you say, anything other than blaming someone for incompetence or lack of effort will be accepted. Anything else is classed as an excuse.
I think most level headed people expected us to come through the tough spell, we were always too good not to. People are entitled to their opinions but when their opinions are so far from reality it’s really hard not to bite.
{Ed025's Note - i think you mean if they dont agree with you then they are wrong Robbo..
05 Nov 2025 10:00:05
The Liverpool way is that we don't just throw out toys out the cot and purge ourselves into mediocrity.
{Ed025's Note - i thought the "Liverpool way" was to give your all for 90+ minutes and for the management to be tactically aware Faith, losing 5 out of 6 to inferior opposition with players under performing after spending nigh on half a billion pounds i think you should expect better mate...maybe its just me?..
05 Nov 2025 10:19:49
So we called you out for calling out other posters and you're being all whiny about it. At the very least, your post did generate some very good conversations and discussions. Nothing wrong with you having an opinion. Just don't expect everyone here to agree with you on it, especially when your opinion has a very strong "I told you so" tone to it.
The fact is that we were poor in October losing more than 50% of our games so questions were rightfully being asked of Slot. He seems to have turned the corner now, winning comfortably against AV and DM so hopefully he continues in that vein.
{Ed025's Note - spot on Drac..
05 Nov 2025 10:23:33
@patrik burgher: yes I did say I was falling asleep last year it was a metaphor I was bored to tears I didn’t fall asleep on last years Madrid game btw and get off your high horse lad who are you to say other posters can’t say how they feel? Everyone has an opinion there’s no right or wrong.
05 Nov 2025 10:31:49
Yikes some of these comments are cringey to read. Good job ed25 for being a very sensible voice of reason and calling out some of the BS spewed here. Why on gods green earth are some you more eager to call each other out than to celebrate a great performance with people who support the same club as you do? Baffles me really.
05 Nov 2025 10:32:13
@Robbo: educate some people? You want to get a grip lad. You’ve used every excuse under the sun. Saying you can’t blame tactics? The tactics have been don’t play Robbo and play midfielder at rb. What’s changed these last 3 games? Robbo lb Bradley rb szob where he belongs I’d call that tactics. You’re right you can’t educate some people.
05 Nov 2025 10:34:25
Ed25 💯, nail on head mate 👍.
05 Nov 2025 10:55:28
Read my post again Scouse John. I didn’t say you can’t blame tactics I said there were many reasons with tactics being one of them.
We’ve had Robbo, Bradley and Szob play during the bad run too and still lost. The problem has been that Bradley couldn’t complete 90 minutes and Frimpong is injured so we’ve had to move Szob back there. But don’t let the truth ruin a good story eh?
Ed25 people don’t need to agree with me but some of the opinions are so far off it’s hard not to react.
{Ed025's Note - im just looking forward to the seminar where you can educate us Robbo..im always willing to learn mate..
05 Nov 2025 11:28:36
I could do a webinar if you like Ed. That way we can get everyone involved and we might not get the issues we’ve had.
In all seriousness Ed I am aware that sometimes I can be very steadfast in my beliefs and not everyone will agree and that’s fine. I just love a good debate and love trying to get people to see my point of view.
Sometimes it might come across wrong when written down and sometimes I might get frustrated but I never mean any malice by anything I say and I apologise if I’ve ever offended anyone. I’m just a fan with an opinion like everyone else at the end of the day.
{Ed025's Note - opinions are fine Robbo, ramming them down other peoples throats not so much mate, a bit of tolerance and respect for other posters goes a long way and enhances the experience that the site aims to provide..
05 Nov 2025 13:22:58
Ah the "I told you so" posts. Don't have an opinion please gents, can't be having that 🤣. Some of you just don't belong on an internet forum.
Rome, yeah you were right and I was wrong lol can you send me a spare crystal ball for Christmas please, mate? On a serious note, so happy you were right, I'm hoping we can beat City and be back to where we should be. We can still win the league, Arsenal will have an off period, they always do.
Haven't read all posts but MK and Ed25, spot on from both.
05 Nov 2025 15:27:01
I agree Ed but when you get people twisting your words trying to make out you meant something which you clearly didn’t it can get frustrating and I’ve had to stand up for myself.
I’m not, nor have I ever said that everyone should agree with me but I have bitten back when people have accused me of making excuses and disrespect.
There is a difference between celebrating mediocrity, blindly saying everything is ok to giving viable, well thought out reasons as to why we are seeing what we are seeing. To me, the poor tactics argument is much more far fetched than the fitness argument.
There are well publicised reasons why the players might not be fully fit. There are very plausible arguments as to why they might not have been fully engaged during preseason. That’s not blaming Jota or making excuses, it’s just how it is. I don’t need to make excuses for a group of blokes I don’t even know. If they’re crap and the tactics are crap then I have no issue saying it but that’s just not how I see it.
There is absolutely no reason why last season’s title winning manager, who has been lauded for his tactical acumen at both Liverpool and Feyenoord and as won improbable titles at both clubs would suddenly forget how to tactically set up a team. No reason whatsoever. Unless his tactics are being, to a large extent governed by the fitness of the players at his disposal. It just makes so much more sense than, he’s just playing crap tactics all of a sudden.
You can agree with me or disagree with me but saying that I’m being disrespectful to Jota or making excuses is just not true and is very insulting. I’m just saying it how I see it.
06 Nov 2025 01:41:53
So it's either you want Slot sacked or to give him an open bus parade for losing four or five (I can't remember now) in a row?
Is every other club like this? 😂.
05 Nov 2025 01:04:21
I think I need to be negative more often - last week I was for the first time in years and then we go and win two games.
Well done Liverpool, I couldn't watch the game but delighted we beat them! of all teams I was hoping we'd get a win against them.
05 Nov 2025 01:52:58
It was an outstanding performance across the board Salah. Bradley I have to say was maybe his best game for us. Dom and Wirtz special mentions too.
05 Nov 2025 05:16:17
Liverpool were in a strange spot. This isn’t like 2015, when the squad was full of Championship players, or 2023, when the squad was left to rot a bit - Liverpool’s quality in 2025 is outrageous.
I knew as soon as they stopped dicking around, we’d be the best team in England again.
05 Nov 2025 09:16:05
Brilliant team performance, I might add. Also, Bradley and Macca are getting fitter and stronger and the perfs. are showing this cos people forget that both players did not have a preseason due to injury hence, the poor perfs. they were having at first.
Shout out to dem boys cos they absolutely rocked it last night.
04 Nov 2025 23:42:09
Great win. Bradley was immense. Thought Wirtz played well, Szob was fantastic, Ekitike and Robbo as well. Bring on City.
05 Nov 2025 02:45:21
Conor Bradley vs Real Madrid:
Clean sheet, 7 recoveries, 3/ 3 tackles won, 1 interception, 1 clearance, 1 key pass, 3/ 4 successful dribbles
What a performance. He owned Vinicius.
05 Nov 2025 08:50:31
He was some boy 💚 ❤️.
05 Nov 2025 09:17:26
Bradley was out of this world, right on the back of his best perf. of the season v Villa. He is back to fitness now after missing preseason due to injury. Macca falls in that category as well. Hats off to both guys and the whole team. Credit to Slot, as well.
04 Nov 2025 23:50:26
Well done Arne Slot and the players what a top performance. Connor Bradley outstanding.
Alonso has just been in the Liverpool dressing room and asked Bradley if he would give Vinny back as he has to get on the coach, Bradley stood up and Vinny fell out of his pocket YNWA.
05 Nov 2025 02:28:44
Unbelievable performance from the young man! I really hope he can develop and improve and use this as his platform. Consistency, understanding and a cool head are all things he needs to learn, his ability to tackle, run at pace, provide a cross are already there. A long run in the team will help him.
05 Nov 2025 04:13:11
Vinny was looking for his Ballon D'or in Bradley's pocket, but only found 2024 Mbappe inside.
05 Nov 2025 09:18:43
That was some perf. by the team, for sure. Bradly was so good vs Vinicius that he seemed to be toying with him near the end there. Great team perf. overall. Hats of to Slot for getting it done. On to the Etihad.
04 Nov 2025 23:10:22
1) Great win
2) Bradley must wish he could play RM every week.
3) that's the way I expect us to play, everything about it was brilliant.
4) slot must stick with the team and tactics there is no need to chop and change. the crowd singing his name as an approval of what they seeing must show him that.
5) can someone tell isak he's our 2nd choice
6) I don't want to pee on anyone's parade but mamma got to start practicing his distribution, it's terrible or expect to be sold.
7) haha Trent glad you was booed glad for the Gerrard chant and glad the best player on the pitch was YOUR replacement.
04 Nov 2025 23:37:29
I agree with most of that but Isak and Ekitike will both play their part. No need to have a first and second choice. Isak is the better player of the two though by far. Ekitike needs to get his head up and release the ball earlier he missed some great opportunities to put people in tonight by holding the ball too long.
I don’t understand the idea that Marma’s distribution is poor either. He pinged some lovely balls out to Salah and mostly played it short and accurately. There was the odd hoof but Ali does that too and quite often kicks it straight out of play. He’s not brilliant with the ball at his feet but he’s far from poor.
It was a great performance we didn’t give them a second to breath, we now have to do the same against City.
05 Nov 2025 01:09:06
Neither Hugo or Alexander (solid working class lads 😉) is going to play 60+ games in this, or any other season. Having one CF in the squad is ridiculous, sorry it just is - irrespective of the number of games there is also inevitable injuries and also loss of form.
With the best will in the world, the two CFs we have now are an improvement on everything since the departure of Sadio and Bobby.
The extra benefit Hugo brings is that he can also play out wide, which means we can accommodate both in the starting 11 if Slot wishes to do so.
05 Nov 2025 01:13:24
Robbo - Mama played some good passes today. Generally it isn't a strength for him, but just more positive steps forwards for him.
05 Nov 2025 01:54:39
I thought same about Mama Faith. He's got a fantastic long kick in his locker; just needs to be more accurate.
05 Nov 2025 06:29:07
Just shows what a change of tactics can do Scouse John and a bit of intensity.
Hopefully this knocking the ball around the back for possession sake is resigned to the dust bin.
05 Nov 2025 07:16:33
I hope so Irish, that’s the best we’ve played under slot.
05 Nov 2025 09:21:10
Exactly, Faith. Marma has improved his kicking of late in the past 2 games. Not perfect but he can ping them into the area the target player is. Just needs to keep working on it and other parts of his game cos he is immensely talented, IMO.
