Adam Wharton I really rate. I think he'd be top class for us. He's for me a fantastic footballer and moves with the ball effortlessly.
I do not want to see Gravenberch next season anywhere but the 6 position or it's going to hamper us.

One player I haven’t seen linked to us who I think could be turned into a great option in the double pivot is Noah Sadiki. He’s a bit on the smaller side (5”8) but was fantastic in the World Cup for DR Congo and last season for Sunderland - played a huge part in getting them into Europe, and I feel like he’s gone very under the radar.

Would be price dependent, of course, but I wouldn’t be against bringing him in, at 21 he’s got plenty of room to develop and Iraola would love him, I reckon!

27 Jul 2026 11:51:51
The great Kante is even shorter. The height doesn't matter. Sadiki is my top choice.

27 Jul 2026 11:50:35
This would be Ed001's wet dream for this window. He's been waxing lyrical about him for a few weeks/months now.

That is why we NEVER mention his name on these boards. If the world knows Ed001 wants him, it just won't happen.

The first rule about Sadiki?

You don't talk about Sadiki.

Cappiche?

27 Jul 2026 11:53:37
Don't know ed001 has cited Sadiki as his ideal midfield signing, so that is an informed opinion as he has an eye for a player

1

27 Jul 2026 13:11:22
Cheers DontKnow not a chance we get him now.

We need a rules page.

Never discuss Ed001's wishlist.

2

27 Jul 2026 13:21:20
Hahhaha I'm a new poster, so had no idea about this! Sorry if I've jinxed it.

27 Jul 2026 13:23:28
If Arsenal get their way, skill will be irrelevant and the best teams will be the ones who are made up of 7ft tall players who can score from (and defend) corners.

27 Jul 2026 13:54:20
ShipleyKopite, I think the league is there for the taking if we get it right this summer tbh. Teams will figure Arsenal out. They don't play to win, they play to not lose. Playing that way won't win you titles year in year out imo.

With the crazy money PSG are wanting for Barcola, Palace wanting for Wharton, and with Diomande off to Real, I would hope we are having a look into these options.

Antonio Nusa
Kees Smit
Rodrygo
Angelo Stiller

1

27 Jul 2026 14:30:21
Smit and Stiller out of those 4, but they'd still cost a fair bit.

Alex Crook this morning: “The next few weeks are going to be Very busy for Liverpool in the transfer market”.

I think Barcola is almost nailed on, but as for others, links have gone very quiet. I think Wharton is deffo on the cards - the fact no one else has moved for him is very telling, and seems to be an industry acknowledgment behind the scenes that he’s got his eyes on Liverpool.

As for others, not been many links - we might get some out of the blue signings like Munoz!

As for outgoings, I feel like there won’t be many given Iraola’s comments about wanting to hold on to key players. I do think Macca might be sold though with interest in Spain. Elliot might be used in a Wharton deal I think.

What’s everyone’s predictions?

4

27 Jul 2026 11:14:14
Iraola has mentioned a few times, unprompted in his pressers, about signings and adding to the squad, so it's coming straight from the horse's mouth.

The club made a brave decision in sacking a title-winning manager, so I very much expect them to back the new guy.

I'd like to think at least another 3 signings will be coming in that will go straight into competing for first 11.

1

27 Jul 2026 11:26:33
I don't have predictions, but of all the rumours in and out, what I would like to see happen is

Out
Cody, Macca

In
Barcola, Scott, Geertruida (not a rumour, but would like him for RB/CB).

3

27 Jul 2026 11:27:42
Agreed, JK23. I think the positions we need to cover are:

Winger (Barcola)
Defensive midfielder
If Macca leaves, Wharton in.
Right back (starting)
CB

I could see a scenario in which we compromise and bring in a hybrid CB / RB option. Apparently, we have big interest in Acheampong, who is a huge talent once again rotting over at Chelsea.

27 Jul 2026 11:28:01
Brave? I would argue long overdue, but that's my opinion. It was brave to keep him on when most of the fanbase had turned on him.

I do agree on the feeling they are gonna back him and go into this market planning to grab a few.

1

27 Jul 2026 11:40:13
Mr Jones, only say brave, as I don't think it was guaranteed that he was definitely going to go.

If Slot had stayed, then Anfield would still have been sold out for the first home game of the season.

That's not me saying he should have stayed, because I was very much in the Slot out camp.

But replacing a manager who won the league and finished 5th with a manager who finished 6th is quite brave.

1

27 Jul 2026 12:07:44
The manager who finished 6th also had his entire back line decimated and his best forward sold, whereas the manager who finished 5th spent a few hundred million pounds "improving" the squad.

3

27 Jul 2026 12:19:08
Consider the direction of travel, JK, and you probably have your answer.

0

27 Jul 2026 12:27:16
Calm down, gents. I'm not trying to defend Slot. I wanted him gone also.

Regardless of how you look at it, finishing 6th will always be worse than finishing 5th.

I'm saying it's brave from the owners. You can disagree as much as you want, but it won't change my opinion.

Excited to see what Iraola does with the club and squad.

1

27 Jul 2026 14:14:36
Got you, JK ;) I was so upset with the guy last season, when I just hear his name, I start sweating and having heart palpitations. You def up there with some of my favourite posters. Was def not trying to have a go. Keep well.

Mr Jones don't be silly mate a bit of debate & two and fro is what the site is all about. Before the internet fans used to do it at games and the pubs. You can tell who the fans are that follow online are the ones that hit the 'triggered blocked' button as someone dare have a different opinion to them and they've probably never engaged in the flesh.

In regards to me being one of your favorite posters this is where Ed catches me out for having 2 accounts and giving myself some self praise like my other fellow best suporters in the world.

I think if we get Barcola over the line, we won't be signing any more wingers. Barcola, Munoz, Ngumoha, Elliot & Morrison can play on the RW too and Wirtz & Szoboszlai could too. That's also with me counting on us selling Gakpo too, so if he stays until January f.eks we should be more than set in attacking areas.

The worry is the defence specially after Ndkwue was denied a work permit too. Hope we bring in Zabarnyi.

2

27 Jul 2026 11:05:49
I still think people are sleeping on Chiesa as a genuine rotation option. Fitness was less of an issue last season and more that Slot refused to play him. He only got cameo appearances and it's understandable he'd be off the pace with a lack of match sharpness. He's another who I think can do a job in a higher tempo team.

27 Jul 2026 11:18:56
Did Chiesa play as the centre forward Sat night?

I think that anyone still putting Chiesa forward as an option needs to ask themselves if they really understand football. He would not get a regular start in ANY other Premier League team.

Backing someone like Chiesa is a difference of opinion, Kemlyn, and a long way from being an outrageous shout.

Besides from the fact Chiesa could clearly be a starter for about half of the league in terms of ability.

Saying we should consider Rhys Williams as a squad player would be more a suggestion of a lack of understanding of football.

Anfieldwatch say we have reached an agreement in principle on Barcola.

1

27 Jul 2026 11:11:13
You mean Craig, who was on here at the weekend... I'll wait until one of our "go to" people on here confirm it.

1

27 Jul 2026 11:13:51
Can we please stop referencing Anfield Watch on here? It's nothing more than a clickbait site and a very bad one! Let's not give them any more traffic.

Good morning

I have it on good authority Diomande is not happening, that ship has sailed now, we are moving on to other targets. Real Madrid will tie up a deal this week. We will wrap up Barcola very soon, Gapko will go to Bayern, Rayan will sign for around 80m, big movement this week.

Well I be.

I started on this site and there were only references of macca. Never seen a post!

Welcome back macca. you have quite the rep. like you just walked on stage. gave everyone the winning lotto numbers. dropped the Mike. and walked off left stage!.

This site is mental. I love all the posters. all make it what it is. we are blessed to have people willing to share what they hear. people talking sense. talking nonsense. support. rage bait. all of it.

Long may it continue.

And Ed25. hope to hear from you a lot more too. for a blue on the red page. your posts are funny and sometimes good old fashioned banter.even if you still believe in Pickford!

How's it going Ed001, all good? I have a question, well more of a curiosity, as to how much of a help for the site if you have the AI moderation tools available?

Should help make editing easier and quicker for all the Eds?

0

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - I have no idea what you are even talking about, sorry.}

12

27 Jul 2026 07:48:39
I think it's a bit much to expect Andoni Iraola to moderate this site, as well as managing the team!

19

27 Jul 2026 08:10:18
Will be interesting to see his moderation tool. I don't think I've ever seen one. Perhaps I should get out more.

4

27 Jul 2026 09:27:01
Haha mates, it's essentially a chat-moderation tool. So you set out the parameters of what you will automatically exclude (profanities, racial slurs etc), so it will take care of it without your input.

But at the same time, and the reason I asked, was that I was curious if the site uses it and if so, how would you have set out the parameters because the range of topics that we would comment on are vast and wide.

1

27 Jul 2026 09:04:42
All the Eds need is a cattle prod and a heavy mallett.
Happy to lend these, if required.

2

27 Jul 2026 09:37:05
Brilliantly explained, Azk2. I hope you didn't use AI to write it!

2

27 Jul 2026 09:44:13
So it's a censorship tool that also manipulates what people write to conform to a set of pre-defined set of parameters to provide a text that suits the person applying the tool to edit the input.

"It was a bright, cold day in April and the clicks were striking thirteen" (George Orwell).

3

27 Jul 2026 10:22:31
Ed01 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

If we had AI we wouldn't get that response or Ed33s to Spion yesterday!!

0

27 Jul 2026 10:37:50
Whatever tools they may or may not use the Eds do a great job of modding the site 👍
