Morning eds, do Liverpool hold an interest in Allan of Udinese? Sorry to throw a name at you, I just think he would do well in the prem, thanks

Rookie

{Ed002's Note - There is interest from the EPL and he might end up here - but it is not from Liverpool.}

1.) 09 May 2015 09:17:34
Thanks very much ed

Just a suggestion for an article for ed001 or maybe even MK. Perhaps an article or two about a player who was good but should have been great and didn't reach their full potential. Sort of like fallen stars of the game. Doesn't have to be Liverpool related. Adriano springs to mind as an example for instance. Anyway, just a a suggestion and keep up the great work all of you.

Rookie

{Ed001's Note - that's a great idea mate, cheers will defo try and do something, hopefully MKS will do something as well and we can see how our choices differ or, when they are the same, how differently we viewed the player's career.}

1.) 22 Dec 2017 06:44:29
Yeah, I'm up for that! Sounds decent!

{Ed001's Note - nice one mate.}

2.) 22 Dec 2017 16:02:58
Any ideas yet MK?

3.) 22 Dec 2017 12:45:31
That'll make a great read. Look forward to that MK and Ed1.

Alright, just a little question for ed001. Something that bugs me watching footie today is the number of foul throws that are not pulled up by the refs. Even when I was a kid playing footie the refs would always have the player retake a foul throw but it seems refs don't enforce the rule at the highest level anymore. Do you think that refs are just letting it go to keep the flow of the game now or are they simply inept?

Rookie

{Ed001's Note - I think your first answer is correct, they just don't want to keep pulling up a game. Though I could be wrong and they might simply be as inept as they always seem and aren't noticing. I find that difficult to believe as it happens on every throw in, just about. The fact they aren't pulling them up on it would suggest the assessor is not pointing it out, so there must be a decision to just let it go.}

1.) 14 Nov 2017 17:21:02
Ultimately the whole point of a throw in is just the get the game restarted as quickly as possible, so long as a throw is isn’t blatantly a foul throw it would be petty to keep bringing them back for every little infringement.

2.) 14 Nov 2017 20:00:31
Appreciate the response ed001. I just find it odd that some rules are enforced and others are not. I agree that it probably is to keep the flow of the game but then refs seem to let goalkeepers hold onto the ball for much longer than the 6 seconds, so that pretty much kills the flow of the game. It seems like refs begin to take action when a big deal is made of something in the media.

{Ed001's Note - I find it odd too and find it really frustrating to see something so easily fixed allowed to pass out of what seems like laziness.}

Best of luck to Lucas, hope his move goes well. People can question his ability, but let's not forget he suffered some terrible injurys yet always worked hard to come back. He seemed like a good bloke who had fully embraced the city and club.

Rookie

1.) 16 Jul 2017 22:17:11
He is one hell of a pro and one that I have a lot of time for. Good luck Lucas and thank you!

2.) 16 Jul 2017 22:42:05
He deserves huge credit for what he came through at the start of his Liverpool career he really is a top professional and a great role model for any player to aspire to off the pitch. On the pitch he was never good enough for a team with aspirations to challenge for the title. That again speaks volumes for his attitude and personality because he ended up staying here for 10 years! Good luck Lucas if anyone deserves it you do.

3.) 16 Jul 2017 23:08:20
I just saw the pictures of him at the airport with the scarf around his neck I for one am really sorry to see him go. Not only did he come through some bad injuries but he took some abuse from his own fan's and never let it show nor did he ever bad mouth the club in public. What a great servant to the club and a fantastic roll model.
Beast of luck Lucas!

4.) 16 Jul 2017 23:40:01
Just saw the pics myself. Totally gutted he's gone. Blue and white doesn't suit him lol. Seriously though, Fair play to the guy. He will always be a red at heart. He will be missed.

Just to ease a few concerns people have about the possible arrival of Salah, and what it means for Mane. It keeps getting mentioned that were signing a player for the right when we need one for the left. Firstly Salah does mostly play from the right, but the same can only be said about Mane this season. (Sort of) Although Mane starts from the right he's often exploiting gaps in the centre. Our front three is fluid, with Coutinho often creating coming in from the left and Firmino dropping deep and running the channels when necessary. Now although Mane has started from the right this season, he has arguably spent more time on the left in his club career. At Salzburg he played on the left for most of his time there, they had Kampl on the right. At Southampton Mane played all three top positions. I also remember a pre season game where Mane played left wing for us and linked up excellently with Moreno throughout the game. Perhaps this was something Klopp was looking at and believes he can get the same impact from him. Remember he saw Wijnaldum as someone who could play Cm which surprised a lot of people, me included. Sorry for the long post and hopefully I didn't come across as condescending as that wasn't my intention. Just trying to ease a few fears.

Cheers.

Rookie

{Ed025's Note - good post that rookie..

1.) 01 Jun 2017 13:24:43
Nice one Rookie - Salah will add further quality and versatility to our attack no doubts. Let's see if he signs.

2.) 01 Jun 2017 13:45:51
He might have the quality, but I am not keen on the fact they will both be away for African Cup of nations. We saw that contribute (along with other things) to a performance drop this year need other options.

3.) 01 Jun 2017 13:46:43
This dude has been one of the best players last year in serie a last season. Excellent signing if it happens.

4.) 01 Jun 2017 13:47:02
Cheers lads. In for a busy summer, that much is certain.

5.) 01 Jun 2017 13:55:10
Totally agree with the original post, maybe mane was kept right side as coutinho can only play centre/ left or deeper to come inside on his strong foot to shoot. As shown later season they are planning on dropping coutinho in deeper so mane could push into a fluid 3 with firmino/ Salah or Brandt or who ever we manage to sign.

6.) 01 Jun 2017 13:55:44
Ed002, Ed001 in fact any eds can you put an end to this Salah madness please and confirm we have zero interest in him. Please.

{Ed002's Note - I am not so sure that it is true.}

7.) 01 Jun 2017 14:54:37
Lol. Meaning not sure we do have interest or we dont? Sorry mate not clear, unlesd its me.

8.) 01 Jun 2017 21:20:34
Mate you asked for confirmation we have zero interest and ed said he is not sure its true, not sure what you need further from him.

{Ed025's Note - reports are saying liverpool are in advanced talks IAC but as ED002 has said nothing is confirmed yet mate..

Question for ed001. With Michael Beale now at Sao Paulo, I would just like to ask your opinion on him as a coach and what you made of his time with us?

Cheers.

Rookie

{Ed001's Note - he is an excellent coach, he did very well with us and our youngsters were improving under his coaching. I really hope he does well there, it was a brave move to take that job.}

1.) 08 Apr 2017 10:49:22
It is a brave move and I hope it works out for him! a lot of respect for what he did for our youngsters! What do you think of his replacement?

{Ed001's Note - honest answer is that I can't for the life of me remember who replaced him! I know I should but it has escaped me completely.}

2.) 08 Apr 2017 12:21:11
mike garrity i believe?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know him personally, but he is very highly rated from his time with the younger age groups.}

3.) 08 Apr 2017 12:25:00
Much appreciated ed, I noticed the obvious talent coming through, but it's good to hear that Beale was a big part of that. Hopefully he succeeds over there and we continue to produce talent.

{Ed001's Note - Beale was a good choice for us to be honest.}

4.) 08 Apr 2017 12:30:51
Would just like to add. I was reading something that Michael Beale said the other day. He said during his time in Brazil, he has noticed a big difference in the desire of young Brazilian players, there willingness to succeed. He pretty much said that you can see how much they need to be a footballer in their eyes, whereas British players just want to be a footballer. It goes along with what you were saying the other day ed001.

{Ed001's Note - it is interesting that someone with personal experience of both situations has said it. I just wonder what can be done to create the desire. It can be done, just like at Harry Kane.}

5.) 08 Apr 2017 17:16:37
speaking of beale being an excellent youth coach!

I know there are quite a few famous academies in europe that produce talent! who would you say are some of the most respectable coaches in and around the youth environment?

{Ed001's Note - impossible to say, because as soon as they prove to be good they get promoted to work with the first team.}

I have watched quite a bit of Dahoud, not seen much of Zielinksi if I'm honest. I would echo much of what Mk Scouser said, but I would add that Dahoud is an absolute engine in the midfield. He can go all day much like hendo and Milner in that respect. Calm in possession and has a good shot on him too.

By no means perfect though. He can be rash and at times goes off to the sides too often leading the middle exposed. Not much of a tackler, more of a harrier in midfield like hendo. I can't judge Zielinksi really, I have only seen clips of him. There not very similar players from the looks of it so perhaps it not one or the other.

You just reminded me Ed001, although he didn't fake an injury to get someone sent off, he did con the ref into not sending him off. Imagine this tackle today haha. God he was scary.

Lafont (Lyon) - it's the easy choice, young goalkeepers don't tend to get the chance so there are not many other options. He does look excellent though.

Joe Gomez (You know) - He's had a bit of a break out year this season but I expect him to shine at centre back next season. Bit of a cheat answer but I hope I'm right.

I wanted to go with Frenkie De Jong from Ajax, but he's been really great this season. Reckon he will go to Barca.

I will back Haidara (Salzburg) and Ascacibar of Stuttgart. Haidara will probably go to Leipzig in the summer then be worth stupid money after a good season at Leipzig. Ascacibar reminds me of Verratti and looks an excellent prospect.

Iv only seen clips of him and he's probably off to Inter, but Il go with Lautaro Martinez of Racing Club for my attacker pick.

Rookie

{Ed002's Note - Alban Lafont does not play for Lyon and never has.}

I like him, he is a bit of a headless chicken at times though. definitely has the physical presence and ability, just worry about him tactically. Think there are better options out there for us but trust Klopp either way.
