I’ve seen a lot of people blaming Trent for the second goal the other night. While I do agree he should have done better, why on earth is he left with Calvert Lewin who is going to beat him in the air every single time. This is why i despise zonal marking! Just gives the attacking team all the advantage of targeting the weaker opposition players!

Personally, Im over the game now. it's gone. On to WH and hopefully we can finish strong and win all our games. We may finish 2nd with a few point behind City, who know?

Look I would normally try to defend Trent, probably more than he can himself in fairness butI mean even if DCL steamrolls him - he should at least try and make an effort. He to all intents and purposes opened the door for him.

The footage from behind the goal is nothing other than criminal defending.

He sees the cross, sees DCL coming, moves BEHIND DCL and then barely touches him.

Sometimes you have to call a spade and spade and zonal marking be damned that was awful defending.

Hi Ed's

Do you think Salah's drop of form has coincided with Trent playing this awful invert fullback role. I have noticed when Bradley is playing, Salah seems to have more space as the defender is occupied with two player instead of one. Which gives Mo the extra space to do his stuff.

I know Mo has been awful the last few months but I don't think this inverted fullback tactic helps.

Would love to hear your opinion on this.

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - that hasn't helped, but it is not the issue. It is not an inverted full-back that makes his touch so bad.}

Mos finished everything comes to an end time to move on as not to tarnish his legacy.

Didn’t Salah have good form at the start of the season when Trent was also playing the inverted full back.

I’m not sure how many of Mo’s 24 goals and 13 assists have come when we haven’t played Trent there?

 0

{Ed001's Note - yes mate he did. The only real difference it makes to Salah is that he plays wider. But early in the season he was creating more chances for others and playing some good stuff.}

Definitely out of form we know he has lost some pace but personally I think he could play the false nine better than Firminho create more chances for others and still able to chip in with goals. What say you ed001
Up the pool.

{Ed001's Note - not convinced he could play there and even less convinced he would do it better than Bobby did. I do think he could play a little deeper but not that role, not the way Bobby did it.}

Ed001 100% agree mate.

I'm not trying to defend the inverted full back system as i am just as frustrated as the next person with how we are playing.

I just don't think our defeats to Everton, Atalanta and Palace our our inability to finish our chances or defend and give away so many early goals is just down to the formation.

The 3 games mentioned above I can't remember the last time i saw this team look so carefree and lackluster whilst being behind.

Seen reports online that Klopp is wielding the axe this weekend with as many as 7 changes so will be expecting some of the youngsters to come in.

{Ed001's Note - none of the players who have come back in have performed, so it would make sense to turn back to the kids who did.}

i have never liked Jurgen Klopp. Could have won the league and Europa if he kept his emotions to himself, but no he wants a spectacle for everything. When your manager says he is tired and his engine is dry and he then asks his players to do more for him, its called hypocrisy.

I don't blame the players, it's all on klopp. His mind is set on a holiday and his players are a reflection of his mindset.

5 games 150+ shots and just one win. Obviously manager has zero motivation to work and change things up and the results are a reflection of that.

The best era for Liverpool since the 80s resulted in just 2 big trophies. Utterly unacceptable. Glad we won the title and the champions league so thank you, Klopp. But we deserved a better ending.

Weird take.
Ever thought the best era since the 80’s might have been because of Klopp?
Anyway, you do you.

“we deserved”

Why exactly did “we” deserve anything? We did “we” deserve anything more than any other club or any other fan base?

And Klopp could have won nothing but he didn't. By your logic, Akiraold, that's all on him, too.

Am not going to knock you for having an opinion but wow that is a very negative opinion of Klopp!

I love Klopp and i am so thankful for the good times he has brought us during his reign.

Just because i love him as our manager it doesn't mean everyone else has too and Akiraold you're more than entitled to your opinion on him.

It is an interesting point you make here though "When your manager says he is tired and his engine is dry and he then asks his players to do more for him"

Whilst i'll blind loyalty disagree that this has happened if it was another manager at another club then maybe from a non biased view I'd say you could have a point.

I think the belief is the players would up the anti to give their manager the send off he deserves but if my work manager told me they were tired and leaving I'd imagine i'd be in cruise control whenever i possibly could get away with it.

By we I’m assuming you mean “we the fans”.
Sounds like the rent of an entitled natter.

I am going to go out on a limb and say, any other manager who walked in when Klopp did would not have delivered us the success he has. We were a mess and people have short memories so where we were, we have been so lucky to have him but also unlucky that City were so dominant at the same time.

Give it 2 years, you might regret that statement!

Me too jk, especially knowing a new manager might come in and destroy everything that’s been such a family place to work and good friends you’ve made whilst being there. But on the other I’m looking forward to klopp leaving for a new era to start. But he’s still and always will be a legend to me.

Stopped reading after the relentlessly nonsensical "i have never liked Jurgen Klopp" qui-ote.

{Ed002's Note - It is simply a troll.}

“I have never liked Klopp”.

Way to soil yourself in public there.

Is the FA cup not a big trophy anymore then?

Ok, this is just my theory on the, I really believed Amorim is really the first choice of who FSG wanted as our next manager (after Alonso). Both parties surely had talks ongoing and probably had a disagreement on certain things.

Then what happened, the Amorim team decided to play games by approaching West Ham, and leak it to the media maybe to put pressure on FSG?

And what happened next, FSG definitely not happy with it, decided they won't bother wasting time with the Amorim team.

Possible, but i think it’s equally likely that they felt they were incompatible with his formation and amount of control he would demand over transfers. Slot plays in a way that already suits the squad of players we have and would require far less change. Furthermore, a coach who is happy to collaborate with analysts once more is important, it was one of the underpinnings of our success compared to the clubs below us in the league. Move us back towards the transfer policy of the 2010’s and away from the manager and his coaches signing players they seem to just fancy, like Thiago and Nunez.

Amorim is not the guy. Slot more than likely is and really wants to come to us. Nothing else to see here. We move.

Hi eds,

Just a quick question regarding Slot: it seems he plays a 4-2-3-1, and so I was wondering how he may use some of our players?

For example, would you predict he uses Szob and Harvey behind the striker?

How does he use his widemen: wide as a traditional winger or more like midfielers besides the 10? I ask because I wonder about Salah and Diaz: if replaced, is it like-for-like, or more like creative midfielders beside the 10?

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry, I haven't seen enough of his team to have an idea.}

OP - few videos on YouTube mate. Probably best to run a search and have a watch, they’re pretty good.

Slot's post match interview has got me thinking. Is it refreshing that he's being honest, or is it worrying that he should have perhaps deflected the questions and kept all this behind closed doors?

 1

{Ed001's Note - or is he just worried that Feyenoord are resisting the advances of Liverpool and so trying to force their hand?}

 10

26 Apr 2024 11:12:10
I like that he spoke to it. Who knows the ins and outs but in general it feels pretty rare to hear a manager talk openly like this.
IMO it came across level and fair.

 1

26 Apr 2024 12:00:38
That is also true, Ed. Slot is letting Feyenoord know that he is out tha gaff hence, they should not try to make it any harder than it's going to be. Slot wants to come to us and has made up his mind. Also, Dutch people don't beat about the bush. They say what they want or don't want and that's it.

{Ed002's Note - It is very simple, Slot will move once Liverpool meet the demands of Feyenoord.}
